I have been going to this salon for about 2 yrs. This year I am growing my hair out and the past 3 trims turned out to be 2-3 inch cuts. I don't understand when you say 1/2 an inch trim why it turns into a shoulder length cut. Come on. Over and over again while sitting in the chair I say don't cut my bangs and 1/2 an inch. What does he do...cuts at least 2 inches off. I can not go back to this salon because of the anxiety it causes me. He doesn't listen to the customer. 3 times this happened! read more

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE REDEEM YOUR GROUPON OR BEFORE GOING HERE!!! I'm not a person who doesn't like to complain leaving feedbacks and normally I do not leave negative feedbacks even if I was not satisfied with something. But this place is different this place is a disaster! Based on my experience I can say this is the best place to ruin your hair. It's the worst hair salon which I have ever seen in my life. I bought a groupon deal and scheduled an appointment as usual. First when I came everybody looked rush like they packing bags. I had to wait 45 minutes until somebody "took care" of me. It was an owner of this salon Cheryl as far as I remember . I needed a full head of highlight and I'm so sorry I trusted her my hair. Overall everything was rushed, the hairstylist(owner) even didn't asked me what I want to do with my hair until I showed her a picture before she starter to apply bleach which she prepared before. She was opening an entrance door every 5 minutes allow cold air come from the street while you hair are wet and you can easily can catch a cold. She called me sweetheart, sweetie, sweet etc. it even sounded nice despite the fact she never listen to me and ruined my hair. After getting a very rough hair wash and rough brushing the hairstylist blow out my hair without any spray gel or any other stuff which should be applied when your hair is bleached. I left my glasses in car and I was not able to look critically at my hair in day light. I even left a good tips not guessing what has she done to my hair. After I get in my car I took a mirror to look at my hair with day light and I was speechless. My hair not only was dry and yellow, she gave me yellow tiger stripes instead of highlight and left a lot of cross bleached lanes crossing this stripes. It looked terrible and I had to go to my old hairstylist who far away from me to try to fix my terrible looking hair. My hairstylist was in shock with my hair and was trying to fix the problem for several hours toning them. On the back of my head they found several spots of unwashed bleach so they gave me not only tiger stripes they have me Tiger-Dalmatian highlight and I was looking like a clown. The owner of the salon told me that the credo of her life is: "don't let anybody bring you down" and "stay away from negative people" it all sounds good but if you stay away from the professionalism and your clients complaints it's another story. It's you decision to trust your lovely hair and your hair style to this people or not but I definitely will never come back after this experience and I can't recommend this place to anyone. I purchased a Groupon for Keratin Smoothing treatment for $99. Angela took really good care of me, was very attentive and did a nice job. I feel she used very little of the treatment on my hair so I'm not sure how my hair will be after I wash it. I've had the Coppola done on my hair twice before and my hair was soaked with the treatment, as opposed to damped with it. Mavida uses a different treatment, maybe its a stronger one and that is why they use so little of it or maybe that's just part of the $99 package! This review is long overdue and mainly for their color stylist, Melissa. I have been going to her now for over 13 years, even when she was at her previous business. Melissa is extremely talented in what she does. Over the years, I have gotten numerous compliments on my highlights. As an indian-american woman, highlights for dark brown/black hair is tricky. You don't want something that's brash and contrasts with your skin tone, but rather want something that's blends in. When I went to her back in 2002, I was anxious about changing my hair and I LOVED what she did! I trust her wholeheartedly. She did my highlights right before my wedding and the pictures came out amazing. I also like this new location, some of the other hair stylists moved over with her, and they are very good as well. Everyone is friendly, It's easy to get to, usually plenty of parking--it's your typical jersey salon and I love it!! read more

The first time I went to Mavida, I was so impressed. The owner did my hair and she was very precise and I got exactly the cut I wanted. Since then I have been there 3 more times and the service has gotten worse each time. The hair cut was never exactly what I asked for and this last time, she didn't even cut one whole section of my hair! It wasn't noticeable because of the way she styled it, but once I washed it, it was definitely noticeable. I'll never go there again. She also did a great job on my cut and respected my wishes for keeping my hair long but cut all the dead ends off. I had my mom try Mavida for the first time because I saw a Groupon for full highlights, deep conditioning, haircut and blowout (shoulder length), and was able to make an appt. for the same day at 5:00pm. When we got there her stylist did the highlights and was working on the deep conditioning. At that moment one of the workers asked me If I did not mind paying in advance which I said is ok (Big mistake). Everything switched for the worse when my mom had to get a haircut and the blowout. Let me not forget saying that the owner was closing the door and turning off the radio when the stylist had to start the hair cut. This was a total unprofessional thing to do! The stylist did not even cut her hair the way my mom wanted nor did she blow out her hair. My mom told her I do not like my hair, it looks flat and is wet. She said, "It will look pretty when you put oil on it" Mind you, while she was saying that, the owner was putting the alarm on and turning off the lights which made us feel very uncomfortable. The only advice I can give them is that if they do not want to stay late then don't take clients at 5:00. Overall It is not fair to the client, it is not professional, and it makes the client very uncomfortable. From my experience I have to say that it looks like the owner just wants the money but does not care about the client's experience. Hopefully this can help them be a better salon. read more

CUSTOMER BEWARE! On April 7th, 2012, I redeemed a Groupon for a 3 month Keratin Treatment using the La Brasiliana product. About 6-7 weeks later, my hair started to get the "fuzzies" so I called the salon (5/12) and spoke to the owner. The owner informed me that I could go up to the salon and she would take a look at my hair but that there was really "nuttin" that she could do about it because the treatment worked when they had initially done it in the salon. I explained to her that I have had numerous keratin treatments using Coppola and Advantage in the past and all have lasted 3-6 months! Also, that 6-7 weeks was not equivalent to 3 months. Needless to say nothing was resolved that day. Therefore, I decided to contact La Brasiliana directly to see if the length of duration was common. However, their response from the distributor was that it was dependent on my hair, health, yada, yada, yada... The distributor basically sent me back to the salon owner and would not vouch for the product. Please note that thankfully I am in a healthy state (thankfully!) and my hair is not coarse but just gets the "fuzzies" hence the reason why I get the treatments done to decrease the time to get my hair done. Additionally, I always wash my hair with the Coppola shampoo and conditioner to ensure that the treatment lasts as long as possible. My gut tells me that I was given the 1 month treatment that they were also selling in Groupon but it can very well be that the product does not perform as advertised. I hope that I was just the one person that got the bad deal! But be cautious because even thought the owner claimed that she tried to make things right, she really didn't because she thinks that there was no discrepancy between 6-7 weeks and 3 months! The only bright spot is that GROUPON was fabulous! They graciously gave me the difference between the 1 month treatment and the 3 month treatment. read more

HORRIBLE customer service! I went to this salon about a month ago for a Keratin Treatment that I purchased through Groupon. Having been to the salon before for a regular haircut, I found the place to be decent enough for the price and didn't hesitate to purchase another Groupon deal with them. When I went for the Keratin Treatment, the service wasn't bad, but the follow up, was AWFUL. I called three weeks after I got the treatment to notify them that my hair went back to normal, being frizzy, when I was told it would last me 4-6 months like the prior Keratin treatments I had done. They give me an appointment to go in for them to check it out and if so, would redo. I have hope that they could fix this problem, and my money would not have been wasted. When I arrive, however, the owner Cheryl, calls me from the waiting area :you're the girl that complained about the keratin come here." I went and loudly she continued to speak down to me telling me it's my fault my product didn't last. She, along with her employee that did the treatment SWORE it was posted on Groupon and that they notified me i cant go into the pool or ocean water with the product, if not it'll come out. NEVER in all my years of doing this was that a problem. Long story short, they refused to work with me and sent me out of the store. Point is. The deal may be great, but if they are not putting the customer first, who is spending good money, then they don't deserve my service. However, I just felt like there was no organization and professionalism was lacking. I honestly don't care for the way my hair turned out, it looks like tiger stripes. I was at the salon for 3 plus hours. She had to go back and fix the color on the one side of my head and if I didn't open my mouth my hair would have been unevenly cut on the bottom.
