There's a new team in town, and I really can't say enough good things about Chris and Dakota in regard to their new Mavis overhaul. My van suddenly died and had to be towed to the shop. Based on everything that had happened, all signs pointed toward the alternator being the problem. Even the tow truck driver felt that was likely the issue. So when I brought it in, I was fully expecting to hear that I needed an alternator. Instead, Chris called me and told me that all I needed was a new battery. That might sound like a small thing, but to me, that says everything about the kind of person Chris is and the kind of business he's running. He could have easily told me I needed an alternator, and I wouldn't have questioned it. Instead, he was completely honest and only recommended what my van actually needed. Chris was not only professional, but incredibly compassionate, patient, and genuinely a pleasure to speak with. When you're dealing with a vehicle that has unexpectedly broken down, it's stressful enough. Having someone on the other end of the phone who treats you with kindness, explains what's going on, and doesn't make you feel like you're being taken advantage of makes all the difference. And then there's Dakota, the head mechanic. He seems to bring a good amount of knowledge and experience to the table, and it's obvious that he takes pride in his work. He was extremely polite, helpful, and professional throughout the process. At the same time, I was also in need of front brakes, rotors, and two new front tires. Because of Chris's honesty and how professional and personable he was over the phone, I had him take care of the entire job. If you're looking for a shop where you can feel confident that you're being treated fairly, honestly, and with respect, I highly recommend Chris and Dakota. This new team is already setting the bar pretty high, and I couldn't be happier that they have taken over at this Mavis. As long as they are here, I'll continue to take my vehicles to them whenever they are in need of repair. Five stars all the way! read more

This was my first time going to Mavis and it was a nightmare! I dropped my daughter's car off and they said to come back in an hour. I came back and they said it would be another 3 hours until it was done. Then I drove home with the tire pressure light flashing. I called them and they said they would fix it. My daughter took her car back and sat for 2 hours without them touching her car. They said WE had to pay for the new sensor, that her car needed a ball joint and an alignment. They gave her a ridiculous price of $940!!! So her tire pressure light is still flashing from their carelessness after I spent a lot of money at with them. read more

we purchased 4 new tires for our f150 truck at the end of 2024, drove it a few times and then left it in garage till April. We contacted them immediately (in the parking lot that a tire sensor light was on, this happened during the install of tires and they wanted $100 to fix, I think not!!!) we emailed the main email, NO response. we called and left name and number, no response! we purchased new sensors and took the truck in, found out that one sensors was broken off and still rolling around the tire, the one that was reported bad on the dash was fine, they NEVER reset the sensors when the tires were installed in different spots!!! I rarely write letters of this nature, having done so only once or twice in my lifetime. However, I felt compelled to advise others to steer clear of Canandauiga Mavis Tire and opt for places where the management and staff genuinely value your business. Ultimately, after reading my letter, others can make their own decision. Dear Mavis, I am writing to express my sincere disappointment with the service I recently received at your Canandaigua Mavis Tire location. As a previous customer, I have had generally positive experiences, so I was surprised and dismayed by the unacceptable level of service during my most recent visit. I arrived at Canandaigua Mavis at opening, but they were too busy and rescheduled me for 3 pm. The manager was unfriendly and seemed apathetic. When I returned at 3, he didn't recognize me and admitted to forgetting my appointment, asking me to return in the evening. My car wasn't ready then, so I left it overnight. The manager promised to finish it first thing in the morning, but it still wasn't done when I called at 11:30 am. He then said to come by 1 PM. Upon arrival, he didn't recognize me for the third time, offered no apologies, and said it would take more time. After waiting an additional 1 hour in the parking lot, my car, with two new front tires and an front alignment, was finally ready. At no point did he offer an apology or attempt to make things right. His attitude came across as apathetic, arrogant and lacking in basic customer service skills. He simply did not care. I noticed he often uses phrases like "my guys" and "my people." It seems he enjoys being in charge and carries a certain level of arrogance and entitlement. I understand businesses get busy and they can work short, but clear communication, empathy and a commitment to customer satisfaction could have easily turned this into a positive experience - values I have seen from your company before. Unfortunately, this manager's conduct made me feel that my time and business were not valued. As a result, I cannot recommend your Canandaigua location to other customers at this time. I hope you will look into the management and service culture at this shop. With more focus on respectful, transparent communication and honoring commitments to customers, you can get back to delivering the excellent service I know your brand is capable of. Had to have 4 brand new tires mounted and balanced that I brought in with me. took them3.5 hours. was told an hour. watched them mount and balance a tire, then go take a break for 20 minutes each tire. this place is horrible! read more

Brought car in for leak in tire, return in an hour and they say I need new tire... on another wheel! Which had zero issues. But now it has 1" puncture in side wall and won't hold any air... miraculously this occurred in their care. They slashed my tire. I drove car elsewhere on the flat. I have used this location on several occasions and they have been consistent each time. This time was for an oil change and tire rotation. Yes, they are a little slow at times, but everyone needs to understand they and a lot of other places are short-staffed right now. The prices are fair, and the work is done right. I have purchased tires from them online and also by stopping in the store and working with them one on one. Bruce, John, and the whole staff know what they are doing. Went in for an easy tire patch due to slow air leak. They said they couldn't see me for 3 hrs. Made an appt, the earliest was 3 days out. They didn't even ask my tire size prior to the appt. to make sure they carried a replacement tire. Drove 30 mins each way and was on time for my appt. It still took them 1.5 hrs to tell me a patch was not possible. I needed a new tire. It would take 2 days to come in. Drove 30 mins each way for my replacement tire. They said it would cost $120 plus $14 man hrs. They then did a $50 add on for weight and balance. Which they did not clear with me prior to charging me. So so close to $200... 3 hrs of waiting for a new tire I recommend driving ANYWHERE else. read more

Absolute worse experience with a store ever. I have been going to mavis tire for years so has my family. Had an issue with the last set of tires I received. Contacted the store manager for assistance and was given the run around and the man when he was on the phone was lied to and told untruths. I have never been treaded so rude by someone in the service industry. I have contact corporate office and was given the run around but now really offers more than an oops. Called on Thursday afternoon to get price on four snow tires which were not in stock but could have them tomorrow probably for sure Saturday. I set appointment for 11:00 am Monday morning hoping I wouldn't have to spend too much time in waiting area breathing in strangers air. Called at 8:30 Monday morning to see if could drop truck off early and just leave there till done. No tires in stock , no record of appointment, didn't know my name etc. not sure who answers phones at this place but if workmanship resembles service my advise would be stay far away. read more

HORRIBLE!!!If you are thinking of going to Mavis tire in Canandaigua,NY..DON'T!! I had an appointment for new tires. I was told it be about an hour and a half. I dropped vehicle off at 12:20. Waited for call. At 2:40, I called them, I was told my vehicle was coming in, be ready for pick up in an hour. At 3:45, I pulled into the parking lot and they had not even pulled it in!! Then the guy behind the counter was throwing the F word around, then had the nerve to cut me off mid sentence, throws a hand up and says, yeah! I get it??!! No you DON'T get it! Bought a new set of tires for my pickup (same size as stock) after watching the tech struggle with the mounting of the first tire and finally another tech came over to show him how and got it the first time. Obviously the tech had little or no experience. This happen on each tire. When I finally got the truck back after more then an hour I left. When I washed it the first time I see gouges on all four rims. When I went back the manager said he would contact his guy to polish them out and call. No call and another stop in and another story. This went on for over a year. Damaged 2,500 worth of rims. Will never buy another tire from this chain again. And I have informed all 60 employees of there poor work and games played read more

The District Manager Steve will make you promises and not carry them out. My first experience with Mavis consisted of sitting for 3 hours for 1 tire to be changed. I asked them for a quote on some work and they quoted me triple the price for a part and $350 in labor for a 1 hour job. Their bathrooms had no women's sign, only a mens bathroom and a handicap bathroom which was pretty offensive. Myself being a female, I wasn't really sure what bathroom I was allowed to use. Staff were very sexist, assuming I knew nothing about my vehicle and double checking every piece of information I gave them, but not the man checking in for the same service next to me. I recieved an email shortly after asking about my experience to which I responded honestly. About 15 minutes later I recieved a call from Steve who claimed he was the district manager and wanted to hear what happened, but denied any sexism. He said he had never noticed the signs on the bathroom, probably because he has never needed a women's room. He insisted that everything would be immediately addressed and told me to save his number in my phone and call him when I needed snow tires to get his friends and family discount. A few days ago I gave him a call and was quoted $140 a tire and that was 'the cheapest'. I called the mavis store and spoke with someone who said they had that size in a $60, $90 and a $112 option. I texted Steve to see where the discrepancy was and he said 'Stop. I did not lie. Have a great Holiday.' He offered no explanation or rebuttle, and did not follow up on his promise. Do not use Mavis, they will only disappoint and you will leave feeling very undervalued. read more

There are a few instances a year where I receive such poor customer service that I feel compelled to preach it to the masses via yelp; this is however the first time it's bothered me so much I have actually gone through the process. First the positives, the employees seem to be friendly and helpful. There, positives over. Now some facts, I purchased Continental brand tires online for the first time ever, had them installed at a local shop. I DID NOT BUY FROM MAVIS AND THEY DID NOT INSTALL. However, the tires purchased have a one year Road Hazard warranty on them from the manufacturer. I had to take them up on this warranty two months after purchase. Continental claim rep sent me to Mavis as they are the closest Continental shop to me. Mavis ordered the tire and when I went to have it installed they informed me thier policy is not to honor manufacturers warranty if the tires were not purchased there. This seems to be corporate policy as the assistant manager called the regional manager to confirm. Again, I was told that because Mavis has thier own warranty they will not honor manufacturers warranty if you are not a customer; regardless if they are a registered retailer. I called Continental to confirm if this is even possible and the Continental claims representative informed me that they have a difficult time dealing with Mavis, are aware of the warranty servicing issues and they are trying to work out the complaints. They directed me to Dunn tire for the tire replacement. My time at Dunn tire was light-years ahead of Mavis in the Customer Experience realm. They replaced the tire within minutes, put the spare and tools away, and even gave me water for the road. To summarize, Mavis turned down an opportunity to create a new customer in favor of short term profit gain. Dunn created a customer for life (I already made an appointment to have snow tires placed on wife's car at Dunn) If Mavis will skimp on a chance to create a new customer what else will they skimp on? read more

I walked in this place at 12:30. They took my car in within 20 mins, I was content. However, I've been sitting in this waiting room for an hour and a half. I see my car sitting there, and I just need new tires! I'm currently watching this man eat his lunch and wander around... I certainly hope I'm not paying for his lunch break. The only reason I'm giving this place two stars is because the counter guy discounted all of the services. Great deal, but not worth my time. 2 and a half hours, wasted. Just got 4 new tires on my Jeep. I did some research beforehand and they were definitely the cheapest. I was able to get 4 all season all terrain tires for 500 with installation. There was a mix up with which day the appointment was on but they had the tires in stock and were able to get me in anyway. There were a bunch of other issues with the car that I already knew about and I went in expecting them to be jerks after a bad experience with the Geneva location. I was happily suprised with Mike. He was very nice and took me out to look at my exhaust and explain what needed to be done and what each step cost and quoted me a fair price. I made an appointment right then for next week to have the exhaust done. Overall very happy with the experience. read more

NEGATIVE STARS!!!!!!! Here is my rant post about why you should NEVER go here. I am all about customer service and I must say I never complain but this was the worst service I have had at any business. Dropped my car off at 3 to get my winter tires on and the women said it would be an hour to two hours to get done..... TWO hours later I called to check the status and it hadn't even gone in yet!!!!!!! I went to go get my car before they did the service so I could take it somewhere else and by the time I got there at 530 they had my car in with one tire off and no one working on it. I went inside and polity asked for them to put back on the tire and that I would take it somewhere else because at this point it is 3 hours later and they had on tire off. The lady looks at me and says well if you want your car back you have to pay 20 dollars to get the tire back on to take it. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!! She also said someone was suppose to call me because they close at 6 so they were going to keep my car overnight. So I said I will and you're going to finish my car. It is not 620 and my car is finished. I was watching them do the whole process and noticed they didn't even align my car. I go inside to pay and asked why they didn't align it and they said it wasn't quoted and it would be 60 dollars more. I stated that I was quoted 14.99 a tire and for an alignment. He said heres what ill do, I will do it for 20 dollars off of 60 for you if you come back tomorrow. I just laughed and said can I just pay so I can leave. I wen to pay and the total is 20 more than I was quoted. I asked why it was so much and he said oh we had to change the TPMS Valves because they were broken and old. MY CAR IS A 2016 CAR!!!! I said I'm not paying for something that you didn't ask me if you could do on my car. HE SWIPED MY CARD ANYWAYS AND CHARGED ME THE 20 !!!! Long story short he refunded me the 20 after a battle took place. And to top it off there was a poor guy in the waiting room with two kids and his wife was outside and he said that he had been there since 2 and he was told the exact same thing I was. NEVER go here. If I was given a smile by management maybe it would be a different story, but no I was treated like crap and I wasted my Friday night. THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED. If i could give it 0 stars, I would. A week after ordering my tires online and setting an appointment, I went into the Canadaigua, NY for said appointment to get said tires put on my car. I was told that the tires WERE NOT EVEN IN YET-- never received notification of them not going to arrive when expected. So I wasted my time, gas and patience going to an appointment that apparently wasn't even real-- so great. Then I had to wait 3 days to come back for a new appointment (because that is when they said my tires should finally get in). I made my new appointment and came back for the NEW time and was told "sorry there are like 20 people ahead of you so you will probably be waiting for hours and I have no idea when we will even get to you". My response? "But I had an appointment?!" There very snippy and full of attitude response: "yeah so did everyone else, you will just have to wait until I get around to you". At that point I was severely frustrated and asked for the manager's/owner's number. When I called the number that they gave me, it wasn't even the right number!!!! They gave me the phone number of a man who was the manager of a completely different location-- 45 minutes away from the location I was at!!!! Needless to say, I will NEVER step foot in a Mavis Discount Tire AGAIN and I have made it my mission to make sure everyone else is aware of how poorly their business is run and how they treat their customers. read more

Never again! Saved $80 on the price of 4 tires and have been sitting in the shop for an hour and 1/2- the old tires have been off my car and lying on the ground for over an hour, untouched. They are always so nice and helpful to me. I have stopped by in the past for tire repair. Today I purchased my new Goodyear tires at the best price possible as I also did research online and made a few phone calls checking on prices. Now I have the warranty on my tires but in the past, they have checked my tires for me and my pressure at no charge and so very friendly and helpful. They have all been very helpful and welcoming to me and all try to do what they can for the customer. I was so happy with my tire purchase today that I had to write this so that others will know. read more

Never going here again! I made an appointment to get snow tires installed and was told the job would take about an hour and a half. Dropped my car off at 10:15 am, was still waiting for them to finish until 5:30. After a few hours of waiting, they told me that the tie rod needed to be replaced, which meant that the wheels needed to be balanced, adding another $150 to the cost. At that point I was told that it would take another 45 minutes to finish, but it actually took them another 2 and a half hours. While I was waiting, they "found" extra work to be done on the cars of every other customer in the waiting room. I specifically asked to get all of my old tires back, regardless of condition. When I got home, I realized that they had only given me 2 tires back. I called 2 days later to ask about the tires, and was told that they were in unusable condition, even though I had had other work done in a different shop a few weeks earlier and was told that my tires were in fine shape. When I asked if I could get the tires back anyway, I was told that the recycling company had just taken them away that morning. They may offer a good price for the tires, but they will definitely find other ways to get more money out of you once you're stuck there. read more
