I've came here before, maybe 5 years ago after an incident with another Mavis in Islip, Long Island. Unfortunately, this location wasn't able to resolve the issue but the attentiveness was really good. At the time, Chris was the location manager, and he was able to diagnose my issue and tried to resolve it. Came back here over the winter to get new tires. I called and spoke to Sam and she was super friendly, giving me all the details to what I was ordering (4 new Michelin tires). The price was decent, we spoke about all the details of the order and what the final price would be so there were no surprises. The following day, I came to this location at 8am (trust me, being early is the key to getting out earlier). I was able to get everything done by 12pm. Unfortunately, not everything was able to be done the same day due to the holidays - I had to come back the following Friday to get my wheel alignment done. read more

I scheduled a tire repair for 11:00 a.m on a Sunday, only to receive a call from the manager, Efrim, saying they could no longer honor my appointment because one of his employees had called out sick. He asked me to bring the car in earlier, so I rearranged my schedule and accommodated them. About an hour after I dropped off the vehicle, I received a call claiming the tire could not be repaired and that I needed to buy a brand new tire. The problem is, I had already inspected the tire myself before bringing it in. The nail was clearly in the tread, well within the generally accepted repairable area. That is when it became obvious what was happening. Instead of performing the inexpensive repair I came in for, they immediately tried to sell me a new tire. It certainly felt like the goal was to generate a larger sale rather than provide an honest assessment of the tire's condition. I declined the tire replacement, picked up my vehicle, and took it to a local mom and pop repair shop on Monday. They inspected the tire, patched it without hesitation, and the repair was completed with no issues whatsoever. If you go here for a simple tire repair, be prepared for the possibility that you'll be told you need a brand new tire instead. I walked in expecting a patch and walked out convinced that maximizing sales takes priority over taking care of customers. I won't be returning, and I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before spending your money here. read more

Came in to get my tire pressure sensors swapped from my old tires to new ones since a previous auto shop didn't complete the job. I went to Mavis and they took my car right away. After a few hours, the job was done. However, after I got home, I noticed one of the sensors wasn't working properly. I called them immediately and they responded quickly, scheduled me for the next day, and fixed the issue at no cost. Friendly staff, fast service, and they handled the problem without hassle. Set up an appointment for brand new set of 4 tires. Set up an appointment with a time and date. The website states they had all 4 tires in stock and the time slot I set an appointment would be ready. After sitting down for 2 hours in the waiting area they finally put my car a lift and another hour and a half only 2 tires were on... They did NOT have the tires on the website in stock, they had to call a tire company to deliver them without saying it wasn't at location. Did nothing but waste my time. Stay away from this mavis. I was charged $489 for rotors. I was charged $369 for 1 hour of labor. My bill came out to $956 for rear and front brake pads and rotors. I could have purchased the set myself for $350 and had any mechanic install it. You will overpay if you go to this business. read more

Don't come here!!! I called ahead because i had a leak in a tire and the man on the phone told me the wait would not be long and i was only 7 minutes away. When i get there he told me it would be 30-45 minutes to fix it. Then he ended up saying how they can't fix the tire and would need to change the whole thing which ended up costing me 100$ more. I haven't had issues with these people at all. On the contrary, they are quite opposite from what negative would be. The staff is greatly informative and helpful. They help you get the best deals and offer the best deals as far as I know. My family as well as myself go here for all of our tire needs. I have not received assistance in other vehicle work as I go to the dealership branded by my particular vehicle so I can't disclose information in regards to mechanical work. Came in with the intention of purchasing front right tire as it was totally busted after an incident. Greeted by an associate named Cliff when I walked in this location. He checked my tire, checked their stocks that will work for my car in the master computer and laid out the cost. I requested to check my left front tire too if needed a replacement. Surprised that he didn't check it. He then checked also both rear tires after. As what I was hearing, associates in this franchise are asking their customers to buy 3 tires get 4th one free as part of their sales marketing. I did not get that, must be an old sales style. He gave me the option to buy the second wheel for the following reasons: it has low threading, I am there anyway and it will give good wheel balancing alignment. In the end it saved me $70 bucks for alignment checking. I am not sure if the tire pricing is modest as I have no comparison to set. First time to ask for this kind of service on my own. Hoping that Iwas not ripped off. I was the first customer that walked in as soon they open for business and was guaranteed to be serviced first and promised that work will be done in an hour. I noticed my air was going down fast on my car, I had a major puncture and tire went flat in no time. Thank God it was across the street from Mavis. It was 10 minutes prior to closing and asked for help. The person who was closing offered to help me. I got the tire off and rolled it across the street where he checked it out, the tire could not be plugged or repaired based on his advise. I could see it cut thru the belts on the inside. I thought this place was reliable and dependable after my first two services had gone well. HOWEVER, my final and third trip I came for an oil change...they had quoted me a time of around 40 minutes via phone. When I arrived in person Tracy said it should be in and out the shop with in less than an hour. Long story short, after 1 hour I call to see what's up, they say only 15-20 minutes and the car will be ready.... I wait ONE MORE WHOLE HOUR... I call to see what's up, they say the car will be ready in 15-20 minutes. Boy do they love playing games here... It takes literally 10 minutes for an oil change. They wasted my time and my money as I went to lunch across the street to kill some time waiting in VAIN for my car which they never even changed the oil on. I said have the keys ready, I'm done playing games, there is absolutely no reason for an oil change to take 2+ hours. Pathetic and ridiculous they should be ashamed.. This place is in a location that is ideal for me. I have given this place several chances because I understand things happen. But literally every single visit has been an issue. Made an appointment today for 9am the day prior. I requested a tire that was not in stock at the location and was told they would get it and have it ready. I show up at 9 and had to drive to another location because they did not have it. Last time I was here. They stripped my wheel lock key to a point that it was unusable. Noone said anything and just put the key back. The next time I needed it, it was a disaster. Decided to write this review because I strongly felt their business practice should be called into question. We usually go to a different Mavis tire center which from what we can tell has been very honest to us in regards to repairs. We came to this place because of a flat tire. There wasn't an issue replacing the flat tire but for some reason, they only replaced one tire, even though we had suggested that both tires should be replaced because from what I've been told, for rear wheel drive vehicles, at least 2 tires (either the front 2 or the back 2 should be replaced at the same time). Perhaps they didn't have another exact same tire but I called before hand and asked if they had 2 exact same tires, if not, I wouldn't have opted to come here. During the replacement of the tire, they later come out and tell us that the rotator, break pads, and struts all needed to be replaced. I immediately was wondering if this could be true. I should have asked to inspect the car and the parts at the time but I wasn't able to reason it out that quickly as they were pushing for a decision. Long story short, we replaced only the rotors and break pads. We opted out of the struts. After getting back home, I randomly took the car to a nearby auto shop to have them look at the struts. They said that they DID NOT need to be replaced. I was shocked but also had a feeling this would happen. If I were to give Mavis the benefit of the doubt, my random auto shop would have told me that it would needed to be replaced within a few months, but they did not give that inkling at all. Because of that, I just assumed that the rotators and break pads did not need to be replaced either. IF you must come here, just get the only known problem to you fixed. DO NOT get any other additional servicing. Also, ALWAYS get a second opinion. The one star is for their ability to be able to talk. read more

I spoke to a gentleman named D, he was extremely helpful, very patient and was able to successfully helped me remove excess air in my tires. Just don't go, don't do it to yourself. There are many mavis's around, it is worth driving a little further to not endure the torture that is there lack of customer service and professionalism. Went in there in the morning around 9:30. Five or six docks completely free as in no one was working but sitting and chatting. Went in for the NYC state inspection to be done on the car and was told it will be take a whole day. A whole day where no one was working is bs. I went to Toyota advantage and came back in 2 hours. Keep in mind that there are at least eight OTHER Mavis stores within driving distance of this location. I made an on-line reservation the night before, arrived at the appointed time only to find out that my reservation was canceled. How was this determined? The manager, Bobby, went through the garbage and located my paperwork. Apparently, Cliff (an employee) is learning the computer and while doing so, canceled my reservation. In addition, my tire wasn't ordered so this was a totally waste of a trip. Bobby assured him several times before I left that he would make another reservation for the following day and order my tire. A little wiser this time, I decided to call first before taking the trouble to go to the store. Bobby had a day off and wasn't there, so Rico was called to the phone to explain the current situation. Yes, I had a reservation but Bobby had forgotten to order my tire....so two days wasted. The MOST annoying thing is that Rico decided that he needed to say the same thing to me four separate times after I explained to him that their customer service was below par. I also informed him twice that I HAD called the store, not as he mistakenly believed, that Cliff or someone else called me to apprise me of the current situation. I am not an idiot and do understand the English language extremely well (btw, I have a Master's Degree in English), so repeating the same thing over and over is just insulting and irritating. After this rather useless exchange, Rico informed me that he had made yet another reservation and had also ordered my tire for the next day. I just couldn't fathom dealing with their level of incompetence again and truly, this was not the only thing I had to address two days before New Year's Eve. I decided not to give up on the Mavis Discount Store overall, just this location. I called the Garden City Park store where I was warmly greeted by Greg, who immediately ordered my tire and made my reservation for the next day. Steve and his partner (whose name I've forgotten....very sorry) were professional, well-versed on the attributes of exemplary customer service and a pleasure to interact with. This location will be my go-to store from here forward, no question. I pulled in here the other day as my tire pressure light had come on. Not only did they put air in my tires they discovered a nail in one. They plugged the tire at no charge and showed me the need for new tires (which I was told by Toyota during my pre-trip inspection before I drove from Virginia to NY) I came back today to purchase new tires and was treated like family! Stay away from this shop! I came here to get my tire checked out. They told me there was a nail in it and its fixed now. I asked for my suspension to be checked and they said your left rear shock is leaking but its a hybrid so we cant touch it. I paid and left the shop. Few hours later I realize my tire that was supposed to be fixed is making a thumping sound and is vibrating. So I went to a diff mavis and they showed me what these people did. They put a plug in my tire in such a way that it wasnt leveled and it kept hitting the road. Also they didnt balance all of my tires only one. If I knew this was their method I wouldve opted to purchase a new tire and not dealt with this kind of patch up job. read more

Every year, when the weather starts to get cold, the tire pressure drops, causing the tire pressure light to come on the dash. Since it's the beginning of winter, same thing happened again. Normally, I would just drive to the nearest gas station and fill them up. But since I was due for a tire rotation, and I have free rotation for the life of the tires at Mavis, I drove over to this location to have my tires rotated, and asked them to check my tire pressure, because the lights are on. Well, after waiting for a while, the sales person or the manager comes and brings me to the car that's on the lift. He tells me that the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensor on one of the tires is leaking. And yes, I could hear the hissing of the leak. It was coming from the valve core, the part that you push the air compressor onto, to fill the tires. There's a tiny button that when pressed, air can come in or out of the tires. He said we had to replace the sensor. Very peculiar. If there was a leak like that, the tire should be completely flat, since the car was sitting in my driveway all night, until I drove it to the shop that morning. There are two reasons why that part would leak. That part became defective, or it became lose. Hmmm... What he didn't know was that I used to be a mechanic. I played along. I said: "Can you just replace that part?" (that's a very inexpensive part,like a few cents. They probably have tons of them lying around the shop, and most shops would replace it for free, if that became defective.) He said, you can't replace the valve separately on this sensor. you have to replace the whole sensor. I asked how much the sensor was. He said about $69 plus labor. We walked back to the sales counter, and there happened to be a blown up picture of the sensor and the valve. I pointed to the valve core, and said: "this part right here. Try tightening it, and see what happens." He called out to the mechanic: "tighten the valve core and see what happens!" After that, no mention of the leak, no mention of anything. What normally should have happened after that would have been for him to come back to me and say: "We tightened the valve core and the leak went away. Sometimes it comes lose." Shrug his shoulders, end of story. But no. No mention of the leak, no mention of the valve. Nothing. When it was time for me to leave, another guy sent me out. the guy was not even around. Now, I can't prove that they actually loosened the valve core. But it seems very peculiar. I wonder how many TPMS sensors this location has been replacing lately? It's a new store, and there were very few cars on the lot. Maybe they felt pressured to do more jobs, and make more money. I don't know. Maybe it was an isolated incident. Maybe the valve core did come lose while driving from my house to the shop which is about 2 minutes away... Highly unlikely, but anything's possible, I suppose. Again, I can't prove that they did anything wrong, but at least be aware, that someone somewhere, Mavis or not, might be doing something like this. This is not a complaint against Mavis as a whole. I had all four of my tires replaced by them at a another location and I have no complaints about that experience. read more

These guys stole a check out of my car. Was at Chase just before and got 3 checks. Cut my sister a check and had two remaining. Went straight here for an oil change. Got the car back. Went to take out my two Remaining checks from the plain regular sized envelope they were in and noticed one missing. I had a bad experience at this store. Mavis hq stepped to try to resolve my issue. Due to many different factors, I remain hesitant to do business with this company in the future, but I do appreciate the steps they've taken to attempt to resolve the issues that I experienced at this store. My advice is if you run into issues contact Mavis headquarters immediately, do not let your anger grow and fester over time. They may be able to help resolve the issue. read more

The worst customer service by far. Unfortunately I came a few times and it progressively got worse. I tried to give them a chance. Not to mention the air pump here has been out of order for more then 6 months. I told the guy the air pump is out. He tells me that's a 'courtesy'....damn tire shop sucking all my money for everything else u can't fill some air in my tires and I have to wait. I finally went to the workers and said look..can you fill my tire. He was great. I told the tire guy who does the work you and him need to switch positions and work up front. The front desk staff are unqualified to work or be part of customer service. The uneducated mostly work here. The last time I came here I had my tire and rim cleaned, due to a "leak"between my rim and tire. No puncture was found. One week later it lost air, did a sloppy job putting some crap between my rim and tire..black crap all over the rim. Take your car somewhere else. They need to learn how to talk to people. Just typical New Yorkers trying to be hard. You work at a tire shop, customer service goes a long way. If you hate your job, get educated and do something with yourself. read more
