I enjoy the convience of their oil changes but at what cost. This is my second one I've came for and my dad noticed my oil leaking in the driveway. He brought my car to his mechanic at Sunoco with Rich and he said they stripped the plug and now I need a new plug. Convience at what cost? Additionally my sister got her blades changed here and the blade flew off while she was driving so wasn't properly installed. Do not know if I will be returning at this rate. If I coule give 0 stars I would! Very poor customer service. I came here for a new tire before the tire was even put on they told me my car was done and I paid , then a mechanic comes from the back saying my rim is bent. Why was the payment even collected if the job wasnt done. Then they told me the rim needed to be sent for repairs told me my car would be returned to me the next day, the following day they never called me for an update I had to call them they told me I would still get it back either the same day or the following , as end of business day approached I still didnt get a call. Sunday morning now its 10:23am an hr after they opened they still didnt call me I called them for an update they said we will call the rim repair shop for an update. 1 hr later I get a call saying the rim repair shop stated their overwhelmed so they can will call me with an update. Again no update as to when the car will be ready , as a customer you dont tell them the person whos being paid to do a job is over whelmed what am I doing with that information. I then called customer service to complain and all of a sudden they have an update saying the rim repair will be completed meanwhike 5 minutes ago I got a completely different answer. 2 hours later they call to say the car is done I come in im not greeted, nothing my keys are put on the counter no apology for the extra day wait nothing im just told a discount has been applied which was the tax what ie 10% and the only reson it was given was because I called about the inconvenience. The manager there has horrible customer service he needs to learn how to treat paying customers and learn about customer service in general. I love dealing with Mavis. Anytime I've gone for car maintenance no matter what it is, they always find a way to help me the job gets done pretty quickly. On one of my days off while my son was in school I walked into Mavis to get an oil change. I dealt with Pedro, he was great to deal with. They had my oil change done so quickly, while I complained on the phone to BJs about a jenky service protection plan they sold me when I bought an apple watch that got accidentally damaged. I ended up getting apple care and they sent me a replacement watch. Anyway enough about my rant about BJs terrible protection plan. My oil change was done well and done fast and just like the other Mavis locations I've been to the Massapequa one did not disappoint. read more

Around 9:30pm on 7/24/2025, I stopped at this location to use their air pump. After unscrewing the cap from the right front wheel's valve stem, the top part of the stem completely sheared off into the cap causing the tire to go totally flat. Mind you it was part of a brand new OEM GM TPMS sensor which are rather expensive (I paid $130 for it off Amazon) that was installed at the 141 Route 110 Farmingdale, NY store on 6/29/2025 using my brand new very pricey Continental tires. Thank goodness my house is only about a 15 minute walk away. I was forced to leave my mint condition 2006 Corvette right in front of the air pump overnight. I came back bright and early the next morning and explained my situation to Raj. He tried his best to install 2 new needle valves in the stem, but was unsuccessful. Therefore, he had 1 of his technicians (Jason) jack up my car, remove the wheel and tire, swap out the broken TPMS sensor with a conventional rubber valve stem and rebalance the wheel so I'd at least be able to use the car. Jason provided nothing short of superb customer service and was also very friendly. Although the rim was scratched up when the Farmingdale location installed my new tires (along with 2 other rims they also damaged), Jason made sure he was careful not to damage it any further. He also took it a step further and meticulously cleaned the rim before putting it back on my car. The best part was they did not charge me anything for their time or the new rubber valve stem. I did not expect that at all. Only about an hour later, I was on my way back home. A huge kudos to Raj and Jason for getting me in with no prior notice and a job well done. Now my battle with the Farmingdale store to refinish the 3 rims they damaged continues, but that's no reflection on the Massapequa Park store. read more

Not going back. I went for an inspection and was told (by Raj) I needed new tires. My car only has 28,000 miles and the tires were rated for 50,000 miles. Since I have been going there for a while and trusted them, I decided to get new tires. I was quoted roughly $600 for 4 tires. I decided to shop around. I found brand new tires on Amazon for roughly $400. Amazon offered installation at Mavis for $16/tire, so I decided to go through Amazon. Two weeks after my inspection (which I passed) and after my new tires were installed, I was then told I needed new brakes and rotors. I asked why I wasn't told I needed brakes and rotors when my car was inspected. They told me that the brakes and rotors didn't influence my inspection. Since my car is a lease and I had an oil change scheduled at the dealer in two weeks, I decided to see what the dealer had to say about my brakes. I went today for my oil change at the dealer. They never brought up my brakes. When I asked specifically about my brakes, they said I had a while before I needed brakes and I definitely did not need new rotors. I have been going to Mavis in Massapequa Park for years and I have probably been scammed into buying things I didn't need the entire time. I dunno what's up with the terrible reviews but I wound up going here yesterday last minute. I live in NYC but was on the island taking care of some things when I heard this grinding/scraping coming from the rear passenger side of my car. They told me to come in and they inspected the car. For reference I have a 2016 Mazda CX-5 which I leased brand new, it's 1yr 7 months old and has a mere 6,900 miles. They were all dumbfounded at what they found. All four rotors and brake pads were rusted out. They had no clue how a car with 6,900 miles had rotors and pads in such terrible condition. They took care of the front two wheels, and unfortunately were unable to do the rear due to my car having this fakakta electronic device that they didn't have the tool to unlock, so I wound up having to go to Mazda direct for them to look at the rear. The cost at Mavis for replacement of two rotors and two brake pads was $298. I was actually brought to my car to be shown the rust and how degraded it was. There was full transparency from start to end, nothing was tacked on, in actuality, I was given a good deal and had my cost reduced by them. I wound up waiting for the car since I was alone and did have a little bit of a wait but it was fine because the two guys up front were nice and talking to me and one bought me a coffee from 7eleven. (Sorry I can't recall your name but thanks again for the "mud"!) Today I had to deal with Mazda. Mazda charged me $450 for the same job Mavis did for $298. On top of that took no responsibility for their crappy parts and tried to blame the weather on the severe rust. The rear brake pads and rotors were actually so rusted that the brake pad had adhered to the rotor and had to be scraped off. Wtf. Mavis took care of my car, no issues on the billing, so I'm satisfied with my experience. read more

Let me start off by saying even 1 star is too good of a review for this Mavis location. Buyer beware! The manager - Raj - is a liar, fraud, and unprofessional. This place was a great local place until Raj arrived. I had a major issue with them a year ago-Regional manager got involved and problem was solved. Fast forward to yesterday- had a nail in my tire, thought I could give this location the benefit of the doubt that they would be "better". ABSOLUTELY not the case. Raj is still there and a scam artist still. Told me I needed a new tire- wouldn't, better yet couldn't, explain why when asked and then proceeded to tell me I needed rear brakes as there was only 5% left. (Little did he know my husband had just done my brakes!) I immediately asked for my car back and to not be touched. Due to warranty I went to another Mavis location (Wantagh- truly an amazing location) where they plugged my tire in 20min and confirmed -I absolutely did NOT need a tire and that my rear brakes were in great shape -70% left! Raj and the Massapequa location are a bunch of crooks! I'm dumbfounded that this person is still aloud to be the manager of the location (even with multiple complaints). Got an estimate on a repair that had to be done on my car. The guy Raj said it would cost me 2000 with 2 days of labor. Went for a second opinion somewhere else and got an estimate of 800 for the repair. They told me the entire front subframe had to be replaced. And later I find out its just the bushings from the second place I went. Always get a second opinion. read more

SLOW, SLOW, SLOW Oh boy, understaffed and disorganized. Old guy at the front desk just mumbled and is frankly weird and rude. Really, how can someone like that work in customer service. The other younger guy seems mad at the world for the life he's living. I get I'm reaching, but It just appears that way each time I interact with him. Guys in the back are super nice and seem to "get it.", but they were slow too. Just talking with each other instead of realizing people have been waiting for hours. Absolute abject disgraceful dishonest criminals! So I took my car into the shop about 2 weeks ago to get my front breaks checked out because of a slight squeak I've been hearing from my front breaks only when I put the car in reverse. They call me back after dropping it off telling me I need new break pads, rotters, and new calipers that would come out to a total of $938. This already seemed suspicious to me because the car only had about 75,000 miles on it and Calipers DO NOT usually go out that quick. I told him to just do the break pads for now because I know my rotters still for sure had some time left on them and the calipers I wanted a second opinion on. His response was "we are not going to take the liability" translation, either pay this absurd amount of money on all these break replacements or were not going to help you. So I took my car back, and went to the other mavis on Hempstead trypke, and they had no problem doing the break pads for me. They also did not mention anything wrong with any other part of breaks. I still at this point heard the slight squeaking when I was in reverse. So yesterday I took my car into my normal town independent garage who's been in business for over 30 years to have him take one last look at my breaks. After he looked at them he called me back and said my breaks LOOKED COMPLETELY FINE AND HAVE NO ISSUE WITH THEM AT ALL!!!! He even told me the squeaking I was hearing was the rubber flap caught behind my back tire that he was able to move with his hand!! Didn't cost me a dollar. To think in this economy that you still have scum bag pieces of shit who will try to rob you blind at a local mavis tire shop is something very scary to think about and I HIGHLY ADVISE anyone to stay far far away from these thieves at all costs and do not trust this Mavis at all. Extremely sad and disappointed that there are still dishonest people in the world who will try to steal money from hard working Americans that are just trying to earn an honest living. So I got a flat tire on the loop parkway/Wantagh parkway. I was heading toward Seaford and needed a tire quickly. I stopped at Mavis in Massapequa Park and was told NO ONE on the island had the tire I needed. I asked the guy at the counter if he could check another location as I needed the tire immediately and he told me "he wasn't in the mood". I really wanted to like him .. he was nice, but his mechanic that I had to change a simple tire on my car and align it had no clue what he was doing. The car was worse than when I got it. I'm convinced people leaving more than 1 star are fake accounts or went in for something like having their windshield fluid replaced. Made an appointment for an inspection at 4pm. I get a call around 330 asking if I can drop the car off instead of waiting for it. Fine, I'll just walk home and wait for it. Manager Raj tells me they close at 8. 630 rolls around so I call to get an update on the time. Raj says they haven't started yet because "the system to inspect the car isn't working". Guaranteed me it'll be fixed by the end of the day to have the car done by close. Just tell me you're busy and haven't gotten to it yet. Keep in mind the manager Raj told me they close at 8, I get a call at 730 saying they just got to it, I need 2 new front tires, and ask if I can leave the car overnight, despite my adamance earlier on needing the car for work at 4am. I told him no I need the car that night, and then sat in silence for 30 seconds until he finally said they'll figure it out. 8pm rolls around so I just go to the shop incase they decide to close up with my car anyway. Lone behold, they finally got to my car and finished up. Front tires inflated at 26 and 25 psi, both valve caps missing, and I drive the car home going 25mph when the wheel starts vibrating like Im taking off in a space shuttle. I go back the following day and ask the manager Raj to balance the wheels assuming that's the problem. Wouldn't be the first time they forgot an important step. A while ago I took my car in there for an oil change and they forgot to put new oil in after draining. Good thing it was checked. He smiles and asks if I had them put on the VeeRubber tires. I said yes and he smiled and laughed saying "yeah those are known for that, they're really terrible tires". If thats the case, why did you not tell me they're poor quality tires prior to installing them? Why did they decline the tire warranty for me without even offering it to me? Good thing he mentioned other unnecessary easy work that he thinks needs to be done to the car in the near future. I think I'll ask the homeless guy outside 7-11 to do the maintenance before I go back to this place. Stay clear of here, get work done at small local shops. read more
