I have been a Mavis customer for the past three years and have had multiple services done on my cars at your Somerset location. On 11/19/2025, between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM, I brought in my 2007 Honda because it was pulling strongly to one side. If I let go of the steering wheel even for a second, the car would drift toward the sidewalk, making it a serious safety issue. When I arrived, Jose (name provided by Eddie) took my keys and had a mechanic inspect the vehicle. After the inspection, Jose called me inside and told me that everything was fine with my vehicle and that all I needed was four new tires. I knew this was not accurate because worn tires alone do not normally cause such a severe pull. I asked the mechanic who inspected my car whether installing new tires would fix the issue, and he immediately disagreed. He pointed out additional problems with the tie rods and other components, confirming that the vehicle had more significant issues. When Jose overheard this conversation, he became aggressive and said, "You need fucking tires. I told you. you Don't follow recommendations." He then walked away, ignoring me. I asked for the manager, and Eddie stated that he is the manager. When I asked Eddie for a cost estimate for the necessary repairs, he looked at me with a smirking, dismissive expression. He stared at the computer screen and began mumbling, pretending to be professional while clearly gaslighting me. His behavior was extremely unsettling--something I have never experienced at Mavis before. Eddie never provided a cost breakdown. I asked him why he was behaving this way when all I wanted was to have my car properly diagnosed and repaired. I also made it clear that I had no issue purchasing new tires as long as the main safety problem was addressed first. Eddie responded by saying, "I make a lot of money. I don't need more business." This statement was alarming and completely unprofessional. At that moment, it became clear that neither Eddie nor Jose had any concern for customer safety, ethical conduct, or even the business's reputation. Their actions were not just unprofessional--they were parasitical, showing a complete lack of morals, accountability, or respect. Based on their conduct, it is clear that these two employees cannot be trusted, and they should not be allowed to interact with customers inside the garage area under any circumstances. Their behavior raises serious concerns regarding honesty, safety, and proper oversight. read more

Appointments are worthless when the staff is not equitably managing the schedule. Favors get done ahead of scheduled vehicles and you're left stranded without any updates on the status of your vehicle. If you ask questions, the Manager gives you an attitude. Techs are working hard but their disorganized leadership is letting them down. Currently staring at my car, lifted up in the bay, for an unspecified time. I asked if they had Cooper tires for the front of my cars. They said yes. When I picked up my car they did a front alignment for $ 100. and I did not get cooper tires on my car and I did not ask for a front end alignment. I will never go back to any Mavis dealer. read more

Appointments are worthless here. Made the earliest appt I could on a Saturday. Took over 4 hours to change my tires which were pre-ordered online. No one called to LMK my car was ready. The gentleman at the desk spent 10 minutes "bonding" with another customer, complaining about the way service people are treated. None of which I needed to hear. Prices are no better or different than other tire service centers. Move on! There are other places that appreciate your business and respect your time more. read more

Great service and prices and always giving me the heads up on any future items to watch out for, the service at STS far exceeds services received from other local maintenance shops. Aside from my personal vehicle, I use STS to maintain our 4 work vehicles for all engine related repairs and items without much need to scheduling and always with a speedy service. Carlos has kept us aware of any concerning items to watch out for and never get pushy with suggestions of changes or updating of parts. They call of any hazards they may be concerned with while working on your car so you don't have to leave it later on should there be something they found while working on the vehicles. read more

This is the worst place that anyone can do business with, this place have been playing with my daughter for over a week, she went to get her tire fix. The kept the car for the whole day last Sunday. Picked her car and the very next day the same tire was flat again. They promised to get a tire for her car to take care the issue and week later not tire yet. Since my daughter is a young female and don't know much about car, they made a point to jerk her around by having her come to the store over and over again. Pep boys is the place to go, unreliable, not trustworthy. I won't do business with this company period. read more

This mechanic was disappointing for several reasons. The one plus was that they are respectful but all the negatives are: they told me what I needed an array of things which I only needed brakes totaled $900. After they finished all my dashboard lights were on. I was told to drive for 1hr an they'd turn off but They stayed on. I lived 2hrs away n called that the lights are still on. I went to another mavis that said the assignment was off but they couldn't do anything about the lights. I called them from the other mavis n they scheduled me for 8am. Once they got the money their follow up on the medioca job was discussing. I was scheduled for an 8am but seen at 1230 pm and only because I kept asking them "why did I make an app if your putting ppl ahead of me " Sean knew that I lived 2 hrs away n thought I wouldn't return. It seemed that they were just trying to lock ppl in to lock ppl in to leaving the car n charging They asked me to ride the car another hour n that the lights would turn off. I said the lights weren't on till the did the job n they regretfully kept working on it. Finally they said the vsc light might turn on. At this point just give me my shit. I rather find a place where they won't cheat you. I went there twice only cause I got a flat tire in the same area twice. In both cases I was charged overpriced for changing tires. Try walk into a private owned place, and feel if the person is honest and reasonable with you. Because there, they weren't for sure. read more

I just moved here and have been using Mavis in Franklin Square NY for years. My mistake for thinking I would receive the same service. I made an appointment for 9am for 4 tires, oil and filter, cabin filter, and some other items which would have totaled a most $2000. Upon arrival on the day of my appointment I was treated by a young man at the desk, complaining because none of his techs showed up. There were Zero Mechanics. He proceeded to complain about corporate making appointments, and telling people the work could be done while they wait. He had an attitude, was sarcastic, unprofessional, and makes me never want to give that company my business again. I would give zero stars if that was an option read more

Rueben is the best! They were so busy. He told me the wait is 1 hour so I said I will come back. All I needed was to fix a rear blinker. He came over to my car and within 15 minutes I was in and out. My husband and I trust them. My husband thought he needed new brakes and they told him he has good amount left on the brake pads. read more

I went to Mavis for an oil change for the first time. The person at the counter was nice and said there would be a 3 hour wait. I decided to leave the car. Prior to picking up the car, I called and was told that I needed a power steering fluid flush because mine was too dark. I was also told the battery was leaking fluid. When I picked up the car, my husband immediately noticed how loud the car was. He had a similar experience at this shop years ago and recalls that the shop did not put the oil cap back on the oil tank. Sure enough, he looked under my hood and the cap was on the other side by the battery. Very ironic that the shop would completely forget to cover the oil tank after an oil change on two different occasions an customers. I am not sure if they purposely do this to have customers come up and to give the illusion that there is something wrong with the car but I will not take my car back to this shop. read more

I came to STS based on my father's recommendation since he has brought his work vehicles there. I simply wanted an oil change and an engine sensor replaced (I had diagnostics performed at another facility). I was charged roughly twice what the sensor would have been if I had bought it online. A few days later after my very expensive visit, my check engine light came back on. When I popped the hood, all of my caps were never put back on. If I'm going to spend an arm and a leg for a mechanic to do work on my car, I expect less shoddy work than this. Obviously I will not be coming back. read more

on 9/4/17, I went this place for repair my wife's car AC fan stop blowing air, while repair the mechanic broke one of the ventilation window, when I talked to store manager about it, on the spot he said it was not broken by my mechanic and you brought the car as is, the manager was very rude and unprofessional, he asked me come tomorrow and I will show you the video recording then I asked him show me now and he refused, he called the police without no reason to show his muscles. I called Mavis discount tire HQ to launch a complaint but nothing came out. They asked 119$ for diagnostic which I agreed but they never got my consent for repair after diagnostic and called me the car is repaired and the total cost is 179.00$ which I paid. I should give them a NEGATIVE STAR, Very unprofessional and bad customer service - stay away - stay away. read more

Went in today to get my front driver tire fixed and back driver tire replaced. When I got the car back after they had the car for over 5hrs, the wrong tire was replaced and the tire to be fixed was removed. I had to wait an additional 30-40 mins for them to fix their mistake. Max was very helpful and actually wrote the description correctly in his paperwork but whoever did the actual work apparently cant follow simple instructions, after it was brought to his attention, he then attempted to tell me the tire may not be fixable. read more

I went to this location about a week ago to get an oil change. Everything seemed ok at first, friendly staff, timely service and I even noticed they used those paper floor mats to keep the car clean. That all changed when Reuben asked me into the shop to look under the hood. He said I needed a power steering fluid flush because mine was too dark. He then proceeded to show me a container of motor oil and said the fluid color should look like this, referring to it's color and clarity. I decline and go to pay. Reuben took forever just to ring me up. He kept dropping paperwork and pens while asking me to fill out a survey online. He then tells me not to forget to include his name... Craig. Yes, Reuben who was wearing a name tag, got mixed up and confused his name with his coworker's. Oh boy. Over the next couple of days I noticed a small oil leak on the asphalt where my car is parked. I monitor it for a short time. I know that small oil drips are not uncommon after an oil change. It doesn't resolve itself so I go back days later and inform them of the situation. They did take my vehicle in pretty quick and "hopefully" fixed my problem. Freddy motioned for me to come over and said it was repaired. I asked what was wrong, at this point I'd seen them raise and lower my car about 5 times. He said my gasket was bad. I asked what gasket and if the the oil drain plug was loose. He responds with "oil gasket" and "no" respectively. Freddy then says I'm good to go and the keys are in the car. I ask if there would be paperwork or some sort of documentation. Nope he says. Ok. I wait to speak to the manager who proceeded to enter my info and printed a receipt that said replacement of gasket and oil drain plug. No apology, no discount on my next oil change, nothing. I'll never use this Mavis again and I'll be sure to tell my friends and family to do the same. read more

Excellent service. Two new tires and rear brakes completed in an hour. Manager kind enough to accommodate without a prior appt. Prices for service and tires clearly marked on the Mavis website, which made it easy to choose them over my usual pep boys service center.
