DO NOT GO HERE! I went for an oil change and a NYS inspection and was told that bc my car was 'leaking oil' it would not pass inspection...it was going to need a $1000+ repair. I checked the DMV website and it turns out that is not a reason for a failed inspection. I told the employee that and even someone from DMV told them the same thing over the phone and they STILL failed it. It is IMPOSSIBLE to talk to Mike Medina, the regional manager. I've called the customer service line multiple times. I took my car straight from there to another shop (not mavis) and it PASSED. I want to make it clear, I am not disputing that my car needs a repair. My car should not have failed inspection. I know it and they know it. I was also told they only carry synthetic oil. But this is what it says ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE: Changing your car's oil is essential. We offer conventional, semi synthetic or synthetic oils. Avoid this place like the plague!!! UPDATE: I tried calling the 914 number and selecting option 2 and did not get anyone. I am telling you, take it from me DO NOT BRING YOUR HERE. Not if you like your car. read more

However, it seems they do not honor appointments, as it takes them hours consistently to do routine work such as an inspection, oil change etc. The employees are rude when I inquire what is taking so long, as is the mechanic. read more

Great Service! I went in to get a tire rotation (about $30 or so). When the car was done, I went to the counter to pay, but I was told that there was no charge. I asked why there would be no charge and the gentleman named Romel explained that he was able to apply a promotional coupon they are currently offering. The Mavis in Wantagh had nothing but horrible service. We had an appointment for 2pm for an oil change. We dropped our truck off at 2pm, and they told us it would take a few minutes. We walked across the street to get lunch while we waited. We returned 2 hours later, and they did not even look at the truck! Ricardo, the manager, was not apologetic, he lied and blamed a random car for being on the lift, however when we returned and they realized they forgot about us, they were able to miraculously get the car off the lift. It then took an additionality 20 minutes for them to compete the pol change. They did not offer us any discount for this inconvenient, and they were not apologetic at all. read more

This place is notorious for ripping people off. I go in for break pads, and they try to charge me 1000 dollars for it. I ended up doing it myself for 100. They insisted that I needed so many different things in order to drive safely when my car passed inspection after only changing the pads. The quality of work is slightly above average, but there is a place a couple blocks away that does much better work for a better price. Don't take your car here if you're scared about something, they will take advantage of that and needlessly cost you 1000s of dollars. read more

Really rude manager named Juan. Installed 4 tires last year and one worn down to steel belts. Car was aligned at this shop. Apparently mavis says there is a 90 day warranty on the alignment. I had my daughters oil chance done at Mavis in Wantagh before she returned to Cortland for college. She calls me about 2 weeks later and said- Dad my car is leaking oil really, really bad. I told her to Facetime me immediately. I saw the oil was leaking and told her do not drive the car anywhere as it could do further damage. I had it towed to a shop up in Cortland. They called me 2 days later asking me if I had the oil changed recently and the oil filter was was crushed by who ever did it. They told me there is no way to tell if any long term damage was done. I called Mavis about 5 times and was told Corporate would contact me...Never received a call. Called Corporate and i was told it was "under review". Have not heard back from them either. Word to the wise- Stay away from MAVIS. I'm lucky she did not blow her motor. read more

Made a reservation for an oil change and inspection. Received confirmation email. Drove 30 minutes to drop off the car, only to be told they could not fit it in today. I specifically made the appointment in advance on a Sunday, because I have a very busy schedule. I understand things happen and appointments need to be rescheduled. But, I would have appreciated a courtesy call to let me know they could not accommodate me. This way I wouldn't have wasted an hour of my day. When I told the young man at the desk that I had a reservation; he said "I don't make the reservations". Maybe there needs to a little more communication going on here with however reservations are set up. I will take my business elsewhere going forward. read more

Used to be a reputable shop - bought 3 sets of tires from them over the years. Now, new management = sleazy bait & switch of the worst kind. Stopped in last night knowing the exact tires I wanted, got a quote & an assurance they could have them in the next day. When I got home, some research turned up a much lower price at another local shop - like $40 a tire cheaper. A quick stop at the mavis website turned up a seemingly promising low price guarantee: "We will beat ANY tire price!" they say. Well, not really. Called back the shop this morning, tires were in but the same manager Shabbir balked when I told him about the lower price I found, swore up & down the best he could do was about $30 more than the price I got elsewhere. Wanting to get this done ASAP I decided to fill out the "Beat a price" form on the mavis website. Within 45 minutes or so I got a call back from a Mavis representative who would be "more than happy to match the price". Well, not really. After putting me on hold so he could contact Shabbir about the price match, this clown returns & tells me the tires I asked for aren't the same ones as the price quote I was asking them to match. Bold faced lie, walked him through all the specifics and even Continental's website proving that this was the only all season tire in this size with this name. Still, he insisted I had a different tire quoted because "his manager said" it was a different tire. Wouldn't let me talk to this manager either. Decided to make one last attempt & stopped in to Mavis with quote in hand. Showed Shabbir the numbers, everything perfectly matched & now he's giving the rhetoric and suddenly doesn't even want to give me the out the door price he'd promised earlier in the day - now that's before mounting & balancing. Frustrated & fed up I walked out, and before leaving the parking lot made my call to Tire Discount Tire Pros in Levittown. No hassle, no fuss, no games - just a straight up honest & friendly conversation that came along with a printout from their website of my out the door price - which by the way is about $20 less than the mavis price before mounting/balancing/tax/etc. So long story short: save yourself the hassle and avoid these guys. read more

Liars awful. I was not taken seriously. I finally found out my back breaks were not working. Neither Midas of massapequa or Wantagh figured it out. I was treated like the stereotypical way mechanics treat women. The corporate or owners do not care. Tan at massapequa needs to go. He was making fun of my description and refused to have my car put up on the lift. Jon is a good guy they need to get rid of little raj and make jon the manager. Corporate knows this I've spoken to them and they don't care. Not do they care about Mavis in Wantagh telling me I need all new rotors and breaks when it was the back and my calipers were stuck. You don't even deserve a star!! I took my car here for an inspection at 10am and had to call at 1pm to check on it. They told my husband 40 minutes. They did call 40 minutes later and told him it didn't pass, that the car needed tires, though the tires on the car at less than 3 years old and the car hasn't done more than 10,000 miles within those years. He went to pick up the car and the guy then mention the car didn't pass cause it needed pads as well. This is the second time we have brought a car for an inspection there and they told us we need something else done. We will never be coming back here. In the end the car did pass inspection just elsewhere. Don't bring your car here if you need it inspected. read more

Long story short. These men at Mavis of Wantagh are not only true gentlemen they are professional, courteous, attentive, and friendly. The most important part - they aren't out to make a quick buck just because they see a female- unlike another Mavis that can be found up the road. They fixed my flat in 20minutes (when I was told I needed a new tire) and were compassionate and caring regarding the terrible service I received at the other store just a few miles up - which they did not have to do. I interacted with Romel and Antonio. True gems! I couldn't be more pleased with their help and will make this location my "go to" for all future needs! This location in my eyes is the best! Pulled in at 7pm today and it looked closed yet all the employees were sitting around, so I called and asked if I could be helped and the person on the phone was hesitant and asked where I was and what I needed. I said out front and he said I guess I'll have someone check it out....they don't close for another 1 1/2hour, but this person couldn't be bothered. Drove 2 miles to the Massapequa Park location and the people in front of me experienced the same issue. Do not go to this location. They are not professional. This is one of those instances where i would give ZERO stars if I could. I called the Freeport location and they did not have an inspector in today. Mike was so wonderful he reached out to the neighboring Mavis locations. Bellmore was closed and Wantagh had availability. When I arrived I pulled up in front. There was a customer waiting and no one behind the counter. One employee was emptying the garbage out of his car into the dumpster. Another was in the mechanics bay on his cell phone. Another came in and out of the lobby area and did not address me. Unacceptable customer service. Eventually the person that takes customers in came back to the desk and I got my inspection done. I know it's Sunday and because you're slow you are on perpetual break but that is not fair to your customers. Get your customers in and out and when no one is waiting goof off. read more
