Avoid!!! Doug the manager overcharged me and Kumar the other manager was nasty about a refund for an incorrect part they tried to install. Gave me Toyota parts for my Volvo. When we tried to make right what was wrong, he stated 'We don't need your money!' ...but refused to issue a refund for the wrong parts. Awaiting corporate to get back to me. The mechanics are wonderful and very nice and even told the manager to issue the refund. Still nope. Avoid this place like Covid-19. They are a complete nightmare. read more

This is my new go-to shop for minor repairs such as inspections, brakes, tires, etc. I have went to them a few times already and am 100% satisfied with their work. They called me every few hours to let me know where they were on the car, when they expected to be finished, etc. There prices on parts are competitive and their labor rate is one of the best around the area. Also, they have a free air station in front of the shop that's available 24 hours a day and open to anyone. That's a huge plus for me. read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would! We ordered tires on Thursday for installation Saturday at 8:30 am. We arrived to an empty front desk and finally someone who was sitting in the customer section came up to the front desk and asked if we needed help. Issue one, break time at 8:30 am is not a good sign! We handed him the keys and said our name and that we had an appointment at 8:30. We were told the tires were sold to someone else and maybe there would be 4 more on the truck at 10 am. We asked why we weren't called to say the tires were sold and he said he's not the guy that took the order so he can only tell us that they were sold. He said If we wanted the tires we had to pay up front, he gave us a price and I said that the price was incorrect and there should also be a mail in rebate on the tires. He said the rebate is included in the price! We have purchased tires from Mavis for over 20 years and the mail in rebate is NEVER taken off the price at the store! We needed the 4 tires so agreed to his demand to pay upfront and were putting in on our Mavis Credit card, he didn't know how to look it up! His name was Kumar and in my opinion he was one of the worst sales people I have ever dealt with not only at Mavis but in a store. He was rude and extremely obnoxious. never apologized or tried to rectify the situation. We walked out and called Mavis in Massapequa Park. I explained the situation, he apologized, had the tires in stock and we dropped the car off 10 minutes later. Now I know why Mavis Wantagh was empty and Mavis Massapequa was packed. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS KEY! WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO MAVIS WANTAGH. I did call Wantagh to complain and the manager said "oh yea he's already been written up already for stuff like this, call the regional manager" Justin the manager apologized and passed the buck. Came in yesterday for four new tires. The ones I had were practically bald. Front desk was courteous and knowledgeable on tires. Had them install tires and do wheel alignment. Took car home yesterday nite and when I straightened out the steering wheel car drifted right, that's not supposed to happen. Before I dropped car off for new tires when my steering wheel was center my car went straight. I believe with all the gadgets they have that hook up to the wheels they could of figured out tires weren't aligned the first time. So here i am today waiting some more as they hook up the same gadgets to the wheels to give it another wheel alignment. Measure twice cut once. read more

These guys are scammers. My wife got a flat tire that needed replacing, I called with the specific tire size and was given a price for a new tire balanced and installed. I was told they had the tire and to come right down they were pulling the tire down as we spoke. when my wife went they pulled her car in changed the tire and when she went to pay they were charging her $100 more than what I was quoted on the phone. When she argued they told her they didn't have the tire they quoted me so they gave her a better top of the line tire. She was there 10 minutes after we spoke on the phone how could they not have the tire they just said they had, and why wasn't she informed of this prior to billing her. They are liars and scam artists and I wont even go into what I told them when I got on the phone with them, but they ended up changing the tire the next day to the one I originally ordered but still charged me over $20 more than the original quote. NEVER AGAIN MAVIS! you're not the only Tire shop in town... read more

I stopped in this morning 12/22/19 because I found screws in each of my rear tires the gentleman at the desk was nice and said it's a bit busy you can leave it and I'll get to it as soon as possible or come back around 12 it slows down then. Fast forward to 12pm the person I dealt with this morning wasn't there. There was someone behind the counter disheveled and dirty clothes no indications he worked there. He greeted me with " yeah? " I was clearly upset about possibly having to get two new tires I asked could they check if the screws went through. He didn't said no I can't I would have to bring it in. I said my truck is right there, he then said no I only have one guy. At this point I said forget it and left. Won't be back to give my hard earned money to someone like this. read more

I had a tire that had a screw in it and needed to be plugged so I stopped by the Wantagh store on a Saturday to see about getting it pugged. They said it'd be a couple of hours (really??) and that I should return the next morning (Sunday) at 9am. The salesman took down my info and proceeded to make what I thought to be a 9am appointment for me to get my tire fixed the next morning. I arrived the next morning at about 9:07 to get the tire plugged. I go inside and Sal, one of the terrible managers there is the one "helping" me out. He tells me that there's going to be about a 1.5 - 2 hour wait! Now as you can imagine I was shocked. I thought I was in the computer for an appointment at 9am! He tells me there are about 8 other people in front of me that had apparently lined up at the crack of dawn on a Sunday to get some work done on their cars. I expressed my annoyance and wondered why I had to wait for hours for a simple plug in a tire when I thought I had an appointment. He proceeded to tell me that it wasn't really an appointment. So why, then, did they enter ll of my information into the computer, including my plate number and vehicle mileage and tell me to come back at 9am??? How incredibly misleading. I told him how annoyed I was and that I wouldn't be bringing my business there anymore and he said "Well if you want to play that card then how would you like me to tell the 8 other people in front of you that they are going to have to wait while I plug your tire". He literally said that to me and with the most attitude that anyone has ever given to me. At this point I was ready to punch Sal right in his condescending face but I instead walked out, and I assure you I will never set foot in that store again. Sal really needs an attitude adjustment over there. Oh, and here's the rest of the story: After I walked out I was sitting in the parking lot in my car trying to find another place to get my tire fixed, Sal happened to walk out into the lot to get something and he came up to my car and gestured for me to roll my window down. I really thought he was going to apologize and offer to help. Ha! Not even close. He says to me in a very condescending voice "You came here to get your front tire fixed?" and I said no, I had come to get my rear passenger tire fixed and he continued "Well, you got another screw in your front tire and it CAN'T be repaired and you're gonna need a new tire" and he walked away. I got out of my car and I did in fact have a screw in my front driver's side tire as well as in the rear passenger tire. Now I'm furious. Oh and by the way, his original quote to me to fix one tire was $39.95. I'll re-visit that later. So in my research to find another place on a sunday morning I found that the only other place that could fit me in was the Mavis in Westbury. As much as I hated to do it, I went there because the guy on the phone was nice. I arrived and told him of my horrible experience in Wantagh and that I was in a time crunch at this point because I had to be at my daughter's cheer competition and he was happy to help. I told him I commute to the city 5 days a week and that the weekends are the only time I can fit this type of thing in and that I was concerned about having my wife carpooling with screws in the tires and he understood right away. His name was Michael White. He took a look at the tire that Sal said was "beyond repair" and said it could be plugged no problem. Now why would one guy say it's fixable and another say I need a new tire that was probably going to cost me $400? Do I smell a scam going on at the Wantagh store or what? Michael proceeded to fix both tires in under an hour, and here's the kicker...the repair of BOTH tires was $39.95! The very same price that Sal was going to charge me for ONE tire repair. What a scam. I'm a young man in my mid-thirties who makes a decent living and maybe he sensed that and was intimidated and decided to be a prick. Who knows. Oh and lastly, my 3 year old son got to witness the whole thing and kept asking why I was so mad. Awesome. I'd avoid Mavis in general but if you have to go there, go to the one in Westbury and save yourself from even the chance of encountering the people at the Wantagh store. read more

I wanted to buy 4 tires at Mavis, but found the tires about $20 less (per tire) from an online tire company. I contacted Mavis since they claim they will meet any lower price from a reputable seller. Mavis agreed to meet the lower price that I found. Sounds great, but they first tried to sell me another tire that I never heard of. After several days of not having the tire in the right size, and continually offering a replacement tire, I finally was told they had the tire in stock and I could have them installed. When I arrived they wanted to install a different tire. When I refused, they checked their inventory and advised that they did not have the tire I wanted in the size I needed. Again, they offered a replacement, but at $20 per tire more than I was originally paying. Bottom line: their price matching appears to be a bait and switch scam. Not buying tires from Mavis EVER again! read more

I have had 2 bad experiences with Mavis and will not be using this business ever again. Last year I went to the Mavis in Bellmore and they told me I needed 4 new tires in order to pass my inspection. I knew this was a scam because I had replaced them not to long prior to this. After I refused and showed them the paperwork that indicated they were not that old or used they all of a sudden passed the car and said it was fine. This year I decided to try the Mavis in Wantagh and specifically made an appointment to have my inspection done on the weekend because I can not take it in during the week. They sent me a confirmation email and told me to be there at 9am. As soon as I walked in the employee immediately told me there was no way he could do anything for me that day. He kept stating he was alone and didn't know anything and didn't know what was going on with the store and didn't even know who the manager was. He literally said he didn't even work there and I should just come back some other time. If they can't adequately staff their stores with competent employees then they shouldn't offer weekend service. It was a total waste of my time.. read more

From Mavis' website, I called the store and got a quote for a set of tires for my suv. The day of the appointment, I saw them cheaper online at another major retailer. I called the Mavis price match number and the gentleman said he would match the price of the tire and the installation price, a significant savings. I was told to show them at the store an email which I received with a confirmation number and also the online ad. Once at the store all I got was a lot of head shaking and was repeatedly told "no way I can do it for that price". Long story short, he stood there a while, looking quite perplexed, before calling the gentleman that approved the price match. After all that,his new offer was a total savings of $9 off my original quote, all taxes and fees included! How can this be? The price match on the tire alone was saving me about $20 a tire! Well, I was originally quoted an alignment for $90 which was suddenly $130 for starters. The explanation I got for that was that I have an suv. But they knew this the entire time! There's more, but bottom line is,corporate will be hearing from me and I will never shop there again. read more

I went to Marvis on Hempstead Tpk in East Meadow the address is 2250 Hempstead Tpk. I need a back tire. I made an appointment to get the tire. When I went there I told them that I wanted 2 new front tires, and take the one from the front and put it on the passage side and put the other one in the truck. I wait the whole time. Two days later I went to use my car and they never changed my back tires. I called them and the man said they threw out my two good tires. He would not do anything for me so I have to buy to new tires because I was leaving in 2 days for a week and I was driving. I called the there customer service, they told me Amanda would call me back. I was gone for 1 week no call back. I called on 5/7/2021 when I got home and Megan told me that Amanda will call me back in 10 minutes it is now 5:04 pm not call back. Someone call me back before and said he would work with me he would pay half the labor. My advise to everyone out there DO NOT GO TO MAVIS. Also they sold me two front tires that was discontinued. Very professional and helpful. I have used mavis for tires and brakes on my cars before. Always have them rotate my tires. I just called from work stopped in and got it done while i waited less than an hour. Chris was a great help Once again went to see Chris at Mavis. I scheduled appointment for new tires on my 74 VW Bug. They were helpful in picking out a good tire. Dropped it off and picked it up after work. I had mistakenly scheduled my reservation on a day that I would be out of town. I called the day before to reschedule. Spoke to Becky and she said, "No problem. No one ever calls to reschedule, so I thank you." Rescheduled for a Friday morning at 8. I needed 4 tires for my Mustang. I was in and out in 90 minutes. Total professionals. Managers Chris and Becky did not try to sell me anything I didn't need. I got the exact tires I ordered. Took a little over 2 hours the first time and had to go back as the tires weren't properly mounted the first time. I have used the Wantagh Mavis for 14+ years to buy tires and have suspension work performed but my last visit will be my last. The current management team does not seem to care about their customers and to quote another reviewer "bait & switch of the worst kind". My recent visit to get a flat fixed for a tire that had a warranty did not go as I would have liked. First it started with me having to take the tire off the back of my CRV, in the rain, to bring it into the shop at which time it was determined to be not repairable (which I agreed with). I was then told by the manager that the Cooper CS5 Grand Touring tires were being replaced by the Cooper Evolution Touring tires so he had no CS5's in stock. I asked him to check the warehouse which seemed to annoy him but he reluctantly did. He told me they have them and could have it by Monday. I told him to call me when its ready. No call Monday. I called around 1pm Tuesday and he explained the tire didn't come in but he'll get it by end of day at which time he will call. No call Tuesday evening or Wednesday. I finally went down to the shop Thursday morning (8:30am) and was told he has the tire and I can wait an hour and he'll get it done. Being I had to get to work I told him I'll be back in the evening. I showed up at 7:30pm to pick up the tire at which time I was told he didn't get the CS5 tire and couldn't. I was told he could mount the Evolution tire or I could take my rim with nothing. Being I needed a tire I took it. Now this is where I feel I got ripped off. I had the warranty on the tire which was, per the Tread wear indicators, at 50% (I have a picture of it). I was told the Evolution Touring for my car was listed at $139 so I'll get it at $89. Seemed fair at the time. Well today I looked it up and found the tire runs between $75 and $95 at other stores in the area and on tire rack. I can't bring it up on the Mavis Tires Website to see. Now I am at fault for not checking beforehand but I didn't have the time and trusted the manager. I also discovered the Evolution didn't replace the CS5 Grand Touring but the CS3 Touring (note CS3 and Evolution are the same tire) which is Coopers mid grade tire. When I asked if he can do anything better with the price he said no. Note I bought 4 tires for my other car a few months ago from the same manager and he refused to work with me then too. All in all It's done and I have a good Cooper tire although not what I wanted and at a higher price than I should have paid. I might try the Bellmore location if I even decided to go back to a Mavis or try Tire Discount Tire Pros in Levittown. read more

I went to this Mavis discount tire shop because I needed a new Tire. I figured I would go to a reputable shop. Well, I bought a new tire, fine, then I was told I needed to "flush" my brakes. Okay, fine. I have a 2016 Honda CRV with not a scratch on it. When I left the store and got home, I noticed a squarish like scratch right on the tip of my hood. Looks like a half swastika. I immediately called Sabiir, the head honcho of this Mavis store. I told him what I noticed and he told me to bring the car back in and let him see. I said "maybe when they had the hood open and on the lift they hit something". He of course said "oh no that could not have happened". Well I very much disagreed. Mr. Sabir then told me that he would check some places for me to take my car to and they would give me a "big" discount. Well after a week, I called Sabiir and said, hey what's up? He said he was waiting for the CEO to call him back. Needless to say, it's been 3 weeks and I still have not heard a word. I strongly believe that they had my hood open and it hit something when they put it on the lift. I think that was really rotten not to admit that it could have been done by them. It is in an area that I could not have done, nobody could have hit me. It is right on the very tip end of my hood. Total bullsh*t. I now they did it. But cannot prove it. I think a reputable place like "Mavis" should have taken responsibility for the damage. There is just no way I was an accident. I just spend almost $300 the least they could have done was fix my hood. They suck! I will NEVER, EVER go back there for anything. Thanks Mr. Sabiir for nothing! read more

I went into Mavis (where I bought my brand new tires 4 months ago, for $158 per tire) for a flat tire. Upon "inspecting" the tire Mavis now wanted $191 for the exact same tire. Also they said the flat could have easily been repaired aside from the thinned rubber in one small spot "from driving on the flat". It could cause a blowout and "would'nt be safe". So after speaking to 3 different Mechanic friends of mine , I've been informed that if, in fact, the rubber had become thinned from "driving on the flat" it would have been thinned "on the entire length of the tire". NOT in one small spot. In conclusion , it has been determined that Mavis themselves purposely damaged/thinned the rubber to make the tire unfit for ANY future driving, thus forcing me , the consumer to purchase a new tire from them. I don't think so Mavis!! I have purchased my tire elsewhere, and NO I won't ever use Mavis again. Neither should you!!! read more

Generally I'm a kind person and I don't like talking bad about a business, but I just have to this time. I brought my car in just for a wheel alignment. I dropped my car off and had 3 calls following. Each one they were telling me my car is worse than before and it needed more work than the last call. I spoke to an Alissha and she was incredibly dramatic and rude. She had the nerve to even tell my father that if I continued to drive the car I was going to die and she's shocked that nothing happened before this. My dad was a mechanic. He would have done the car for me, but unfortunately he can no longer physically can. He went into the shop the following morning to look at the car and half of what they said was incorrect. In fact, after he came in to inspect what was wrong, the bill went from $1,110 to $850. Clearly theres an issue with that if you ask me. I went with my father to pick my car up after the work was done and the same woman who was calling me, Alissha, was there and she was yelling at me and my father and literally REFUSED to give me my car back and process our payment. Because she was acting childish, i spent 30 mins there and it caused me to be late to my second job. I will never return here or recommend anyone go here. Especially after charging $450 in just the labor fees. read more

I had my car towed here last night after getting a really bad flat down on Sunrise Hwy. I came in right as they opened this morning and they took my car in right away. They inspected all 4 tires for any damage and then tried to repair the flat I had. The hole was too close to the sidewall so I needed a new one. A little stressed as money is tight right now and I was currently going to be late for work, they worked with me and got me a new tire that I could afford that was the same tread pattern as my other 3. The waiting area is clean with free wifi and TV. Everyone who spoke to me here was courteous and professional. I prefer this place to the one in Levittown. Thank you, MAVIS! read more
