Where do I start. I came in for a 4 PM inspection, arrived early, and my car didn't go up until after 5:15. From there it went downhill fast. The technician insisted my brake pads were too thin to pass inspection. What he didn't know is that I have a background in working on motorcycles and am familiar with the NYS minimum of 1/32 of an inch. My pads were visibly fine. He then tried to demonstrate my brakes were faulty by showing he couldn't open my calipers with his bare hands. No caliper tool. Just his hands. That is not how this works, and it is not a sign that anything is wrong with the brakes. My brakes drive fine, no noises, stuttering, or pulling. He also tried other make up other "intimidating" things like claiming my rotor was "bruised." The rotor was fine. Rather than argue with him, I told them I didnt have time to do a brakes service that day. I'd mentioned a slow air leak in a tire that Mavis installed less than two years ago with under 20,000 miles. They initially said it looked like a issue on the tire that sanding would fix and offered to fix it for free. Minutes later they came back out holding my tire, insisting it was too dry rotted inside where the wheel is mounted to remounted, impossible to remount and that I had no choice but to buy a new one. I declined and asked to put my spare on instead. I got my car back 45 minutes later with a failed inspection and a completely flat spare. The spare they had just mounted. They were the last people to touch it the last time I used it, and that day, and sent me out the door without checking the pressure, after spending ten minutes telling me how unsafe my car was to drive due to the supposedly bad brakes. Then I realized mid-drive they never gave me back my original wheel and tire, even though I had asked twice to make sure it was in the car. I called after close, drove back, and found my tire already remounted on the wheel, ready to go. When I asked how, I was told a colleague just asked someone and they said sure, no problem, and did it right away. So they completed fabricated the issue to try to sell me a tire. The same tire your staff told me was impossible to remount. The entire reason I was on my spare. Done in minutes when someone they didn't need to scam money out of actually asked. I went home and mounted it back on myself and have driven another 50 miles no issues. Also, they charged me 37 dollars for an inspection which they failed with the notes "locked calipers" (if a car couldn't move its brake calipers, it wouldn't drive normally) and citing that it has a spare tire on it. As a woman, being walked around your car and shown things that are supposed to look alarming is a disgusting feeling. This location will try to take advantage of you. It lands differently when you know what you're actually looking at. I emailed corporate three days ago. No response. One star is generous. read more

Ricardo and the team at this Mavis have come to my rescue several times. When I have needed a last-minute tire service or oil change, they have flexible hours and plenty of technicians to help get me back on the road. They have a convenient online booking system or you can call and make an appointment over the phone. They have outstanding service, too, always greeting customers with a smile and taking the time to explain or show what repairs need to be done. Their waiting area is pretty basic, so make sure you bring a book or something to do while waiting, but they are surrounded by great restaurants and cafes within short walking distance if you get hungry or thirsty. read more

I made an appointment for a state inspection. I arrived 20 minutes early, but my car just sat for over two hours before anyone did anything. Inspection on a Tesla only takes minutes to complete. When my car was finally ready two hours and forty minutes after my appointment, and three hours after I arrived, the clerk practically threw my receipt at me. No thank you, no sorry for the long wait. I had to ask him where my car was parked (Oh, probably around back was what he said). The inspection sticker was not attached completely and was dangling from the windshield. They overinflated one of my tires. Why schedule appointments if they mean nothing?!? read more

They'll tell you the nail in your tire can't be patched because it's the sidewall (everytime you go, 5+ times) when it isn't. 1 Star - Extremely Dishonest and Fraudulent Experience I had one of the worst auto service experiences of my life at this location. On 12/6/25, I paid for an alignment, oil change, and tire mount. Before the service, I specifically requested a before-and-after alignment printout, and they agreed. After charging me, they suddenly claimed they only provide the "after" report, then changed the story again and said their printer was broken and printing everything in gray, making the document "unreadable". They also refused to email the report even though alignment reports are digital and should be accessible on their screen. I was told to return the next day at any time and they would give me the printout. On 12/7/25, I returned for the alignment report, and they asked for my keys again to "get the measurements," even though they insisted the alignment had already been done on 12/6. I watched them put my car back on the machine, and it became obvious the alignment was never performed the day before, despite charging me for it. It took them about 20 minutes to suddenly produce the measurements, and now the printer worked perfectly and they provided both the before and after printouts - directly contradicting everything they told me the previous day. At this point, it is completely clear this was not an accident or miscommunication. Their shifting stories, the sudden ability to print documents after claiming it was impossible, and the way they tried to redo the alignment only once I returned all show INTENTIONAL DECEPTION and an attempt to cover up the fact that they had charged me for work they never did. They also attempted to upsell unnecessary parts by making it seem like multiple things were wrong with my car, including my brakes, something I later confirmed elsewhere was not true. Their urgency and pressure tactics are designed to manipulate customers into paying for work they don't need. Always get a second opinion before agreeing to anything they claim "must be done immediately." At this point, the only service I can confirm was actually done was the tire mount. I genuinely do not know if they even performed the oil change but I WILL find out. This location in White Plains is dishonest, misleading, and engages in fraudulent behavior. The workers are extremely inattentive, and the manager is fully aware of what is happening and still tries to cover for them. They will leave your car waiting for hours to make you believe work is being done, when in reality nothing is happening. Then they will call you with exaggerated claims about "urgent" repairs you supposedly need, hoping you won't question it. Their customer service number is useless - they hang up when you try to address the issue. This is, without a doubt, the worst place I have ever had service done. I will never return, and I strongly warn others to avoid this location. Due to the fraudulent behaviors I experienced, I will be pursuing further investigation and legal action since it's clear this company will not hold itself accountable. A billion-dollar business operating this way is unacceptable. You are better off going somewhere else. even if it's more expensive because at least the work will actually get done. The laziest technicians and management I have ever seen at a mavis. Took over two hours to have two tires changed with an appointment scheduled and an extra 10 minutes just to get the keys from a technician who is wondering around. Unless you have your entire day to spend while having little to no work done this is not your place. Seems like they are getting paid to do pretty much nothing... go anywhere else. Dont trust this place with anything other than new tires, an oil change or an inspection. This place messed up their wheel balancing job on my car (7.5 ounces over on one of my wheels) and when I came back to the location after experiencing shaking on the highway at high speeds, they tried to tell me I needed a front brake job (my pads and rotors still had tons of life left on them). Made an appt, arrived before time. Was told my wait would be 90 - 120 minutes. After waiting 2 hours I looked to see if my car was being worked on. It was NOT. It had been moved closer to the work area. Interestingly enough, a few minutes later I'm called, they have diagnosed my car; that was lightning fast. I'm told I need to replace my front AND back brake pads and rotors. However, hearing about the back was a complete surprise because previously the back wasn't mentioned. Was this incompetence before or a hustle today? Every time I go to a Mavis shop I feel as if I'm being hustled (I have visited multiple). Came in for new tires on Tuesday. They replaced three tires. Soon as I drove off I was experiencing shaking of the wheel and I could hear a noise coming from one of the tires. I called Mj the next morning and advised him of that. Then next thing I know I look at one of the tires and it's flat. It's now 9pm at night and I have to wait for roadside assistance to come in an hour or more for help. I am stranded 35 miles away from home and have groceries in the car. After having blow out and having car towed to mavis( note im from Long Island )the last thing I thought was i'll be treated as if I was going to a fly-by-night corner tire store. I called at 8 AM as well as went on Mavis website immediately and booked a earliest appointment at 11 AM.. the representative Ricardo took my information reassured me. The car would be brought in and they would contact me with the results of the inspection of the tire.. at approximately 12 o'clock after being put on hold and disconnected, I spoke to a young lady who told me that the tire I ordered was in route and repair would be done shortly, I stated I never spoke to anyone about a repair and don't know anything about any tire, she then put me on hold for six minutes when Sebastian picked up the phone and educated me on how BMW suggest that this be the tire, that they don't have any other one flat options, and that they took the liberty to order the tire and repair my vehicle with it. That happens to be the most expensive tire they carry. I expressed that I did not like having a manager who clearly dropped the ball or is this your daily practice, I said is there any type of discounts or coupons you could offer me for me to go ahead and accept the purchase of the most expensive tire and he stated to me that according to our price of a website he's giving it to me for $410 compared to the suggested $412. I'm a customer that feels vulnerable because I'm coming in from out of town that was taken advantage of in order to get his vehicle in a timely fashion and that timely fashion would be 2:00 PM after dropping the vehicle off in the middle of the night and already having an a 11 appointment. I hesitated coming here a little before 8am on a Saturday (to beat the crowds if any)- just because of one irritating experience I had a few years back. Even so, the guys remediated that issue- with a smile. And that friendly service, hasn't changed one bit at this White Plains location. I honestly had no clue my Inspection was way past due...until I got a $50 ticket at the White Plains Galleria Mall. Taking care of that Inspection ASAP before heading to work on Monday, had to happen. Plus I also wanted to make sure my car had a proper oil change since I was here already. Andrew and Chris worked the billing upfront and still delivered exceptional customer service. Seriously- the team here definitely gets an A++++ for kindness. However, I truly wish they'd pride themselves a bit more on small details such as when removing an old inspection sticker, that they remove it seamlessly and not leave any of the old adhesive on the glass. Mavis Discount Tire in White Plains and Tarrytown has performed excellent service in tough situations. I had a flat in New Jersey as was advised to get it fixed within 30 miles. I dropped into the Tarrytown NY location and the issue was resolved in less than three hours. Similar situation occured last weekend and was able to drop in at the White Plains location and received quakity service in less than 90 minutes. Had an appointment for an inspection first thing in the morning made weeks ago. Showed up for appointment at scheduled time and they said they wouldn't get to my car for over three hours. So they offered the solution of returning at a later time the same day when there would "be no wait". I returned at the agreed upon now later time and surprise surprise. While they are acceptable for inspections, the time I had taken my car there and when my friend recently took her car there, there had been immediate phone calls about some other service that needed to be done that was much more expensive.
