After a less-than-stellar experience by one of the more local, yet highly visible oil change places in the area, I was none too keen to get my oil changed by them again. Lo and behold, there was a Valvoline nearby, which I had used years ago while living in another state. When I pulled in, there were large flags indicating discounts for LSU faculty and staff (woohoo - a win I wasn't expecting - about 20% off!) and the folks there directed me to pull around into one of the bays. I was there only one there around 9am on a Friday. Brad, Dontae, and Elliot were so friendly and fast at getting my oil changed - took maybe about 20 minutes when all was said and done (including changing out my engine air filter and resetting my dashboard inspection indicator, which is always a hassle - thanks VW for that!). I will definitely be going back when I'm due for my next oil change!

Upon leaving the shop, I noticed the vehicle's engine light was on, so I went to an auto parts store to pull the codes. Turns out the technician lost the stock air filter bolt and replaced it with a generic one without a proper washer and left the housing loose. I was able to turn both the original bolt and the replaced one without tools. I decided not to return, as I lost trust in the technician to handle things properly. Ended up ordering a set of replacement bolts and secured the air filter housing myself. Will not be returning to this establishment.

Tried Firestone a few minutes after 8am this morning (they open at 7), and they told me that my car would be there all day. I have a Fleet vehicle (work car), so that wasn't appealing to me. The person seemed slammed as the phone was ringing away with another customer in the lobby telling me that he hadn't seen anyone yet. Drove around the corner to Goodyear and was told no one was ahead of me, so they could do it in about 30 minutes (except the awaiting approval for the Fleet company takes minutes to hours). They consistently walk out to assess my car as soon as I show up vs Firestone that seemed to busy to do that. Again, I imagine they are both great. Firestone has better hours (as they open at 7 instead of 8 like Goodyear) and are open on Sundays, but I really love the efficiency and customer service at Goodyear.
