My car was making a clanking noise so I stopped at Mavis on 306 N. Kings Hwy. I was greeted by a mechanic named Kevin as well as the owner Josh. Although they were busy they took the time to thoroughly explain what needed to be fixed. (I unlike most places) After doing my research I found their pricing to be very fair. I went to have my oil changed before the trip home and Mavis said on line if you make an appointment on line you would get a discount of $20. Then he said oh there are disposal fees and would not take the $85 to $65 as add said and then tried to tell me my tires were balled and my wipers were old. Went to Mavis and asked if they can mount and balance a tire for me. New Tire with the rim I brought in. I took the purchase stickers off the tire so they wouldn't have to. They REFUSED to mount the tire cause the stickers was removed. I even offered to bring the stickers in to show and still refused. I have never ever heard of this kinda policy EVER..... Needed an emergency repair to the vehicle I drove to Myrtle in and was scheduled to leave the following day in. Got there at 3pm only to find out we needed a wheel bearing replacement and rebuild in the front left wheel. Jason, pretty sure he was the manager, was absolutely amazing. 11:00 am appointment for tires. Told us it would be ready 2.5 hours. Five hours later they tell us it's done and that we need a power steering flush. We declined and when we arrived car was not ready and they told us it need a new battery as well. We declined and they told us the car was not ready and they needed another hour. Still no car and the cost was hirer than quoted. Everyone was nice but not reliable. I would no recommend this shop. read more

But instead, he came out and said "great news, there's nothing wrong with your tire! We just went ahead and refilled the air." My tire was low. I pulled up to Mavis tire to put some air in the tire. As I was putting air in the tire one of the service techs came out and asked if he could help. He put his tire gage on the tire gage on the tire and we both decided the tire was to low to only need air. The tech pulled my car right in to an empty bay and checked the tire immediately and found a nail in the tire. In all between working with the tech and the Manager I was in and out of the shop with the tire repaired in more than 30 minutes. read more

My wife and I were staying at the Palace Resort and upon arrival we discovered an issue with the undercarriage of our car. A pre-service plastic panel which protects the oil pan had come unfastened and was dragging the ground. We were concerned about it getting snagged and causing more damage. We scrambled to find a place that was open on Sunday and thankfully this place was just a few minutes away. We called ahead to ask if they were open and if they could help. The gentleman who answered the phone was very pleasant and said he would be more than happy to take a look at it. When we arrived I told the gentleman that we had just spoken on the phone. He took my keys and said it would just be a few minutes. Shortly after he came back and said he had it repaired and that we were good to go. When we asked how much it would cost for the repair he said that no payment was necessary. We even insisted but he refused. He also had a great sense of humor and was extremely kind. If we're ever in Myrtle Beach again and have a car issue, this is where we'll be taking our car. Please give this place your business! They will treat you right! read more

Great shop! Started with calling and speaking to Josh. Took my truck over in the late afternoon and Josh locked it up in the shop. Being out of town, it was a pleasure knowing my truck would be secured for the night. Josh said he'd jump on it first thing in the mornin. Malaysia was also very nice and we hit it off with both her and Josh taking care of business. I was called first thing in the morning around 0930 saying my truck was ready to go. I found out Juan the mechanic got right on it like Josh said. I only needed two rotors and all the brakes were replaced with Wagner ceramic brakes (front and rear). Nice job guys! Excellent!!!! David was one of the mechanics, great place, HONEST PLACE!! I first Went to the BMW dealership to get my BMW X5 an oil change, they did that but said that my rear brakes needed to be changed for $1,079. Plus I had an oil filter housing leaking which would cost $1,373.00. Which was a little weird because I had no signs of a leak. For a total of $2,452.00 I picked up my X5 and drove it directly to Mavis which is around 5 miles. When I got to Mavis I told them what I was just told. They checked everything, they said the BMW was a quart low (strange since supposedly BMW just changed to it) they also said the leak was actually the oil plug that goes into the housing and the brakes would be good for a few more months. Since they were honest I went ahead and changed the brakes. I bought the parts at the BMW dealership, brake pads and plug was $183.00 and Mavis charged me for labor $270.00 for a total of $456.00. They fixed everything that BMW dealership said needed to be fixed for $2,452.00. I saved almost $2,000 by going to Mavis and I still used BMW parts. Thank you David and the staff at Mavis. read more

The folks at Mavis must be incredibly honest! My car computer was telling me my ABS braking system needed brake fluid. I'm vacationing from out-of-town. and was really worried there might be additional brake problems, so I chose Mavis since their ads say they specialize in brakes. Also asked them for an oil change since that was past due. They took my car right away, did the oil change and gave a $5 coupon offer (I had no such coupon on me). They checked the brakes and told me there was nothing wrong with them except that one of my ABS sensors had probably died, which they could not fix, but that the brakes themselves were fine and safe to drive. They could have told me I needed to replace all the brakes on the car, and, being from out-of-town (and wanting to get home safely), I would have had practically no choice but to let them do the work. I was in and out in less than 90 minutes and for less than $90! I was so relieved and knew I had stumbled across an honest shop! Great job, Mavis! read more
