I called early in the morning to set an appointment for an inspection. When I showed up I was told that the machine was broken. I explained that I had an appointment that I scheduled with Carlos. Brenden explained that Carlos must work in the call center and he don't know that the machine is broken. Brenden did not apologize or offer any compassion. He acted as though he did not care at all. But they didn't rotate them because they said it needed new tires on the rear as well. That is debatable according to the mechanic who recommended tires for the front. read more

Had an appointment for oil change and tire rotation at 10am. Dropped my vehicle off at 9am. Went back to Mavis at 11am and my truck was parked in the same spot and wasn't serviced yet. They told me that due to me dropping my vehicle off they moved other appointments ahead of mine due to they were gonna wait at the store. Appointments are made for a reason. We have been customers for a while and I made an appointment for NC state inspection, was for 8 AM. Left my house at 7 as I live 30 mi away. Got a call at 7:50 from Mavis right before I was pulling in saying the inspection person was not going to be there today. Does no one come in to open the place and get things ready earlier than this? Did no one know before this that no one was coming in? I am considered a senior citizen and even I know how to text someone. Very unprofessional, did not even try to send me to another local mavis, didn't apologize for the inconvenience, could care less. Just lost a good customer. Never ever again! I have never been to such an unprofessional, homophobic, and downright deceitful company. I went in with an appointment and sat in a lobby looking at my truck for 45 minutes before an employee touched it. While waiting for someone to take my truck into the back to be serviced, I sat in the lobby and listening to a young lady who was working the phones cussing like she with a few of her coworkers and acted like they were the only people in the room. She went on and on and on about how much she hated her job, hated her boss, and co-workers, it was very unprofessional and outright trashy. But that's not all that I experienced during that dreadful hour and a half. When they finally looked at my truck, they explained the issue that I need addressed and began to fix it. The service guy then came back out into the lobby saying that I needed my power steering fluid flushed and replace. I told him I was unsure if I wanted to do it because it's my partners truck and he had the final says since he's paying. He began with telling me that it would cost about $135 but to "sweeten the deal" he said he'd only charge $75. I told him that I need to call my partner first because he has the final say in the matter. My partner was shocked and the price but not only that, he was shocked by the fact that the guy flat-out LIED to me. The truck's power steering is electrically driven, it does not take nor hold any power steering fluid. I didn't confront the guy about his lie, but I said my partner will deal with the power steering another time. With an attitude, the guy walks into the garage and yells to the mechanic "the dude's boyfriend doesn't want to do the power steering". To summon this review up, don't do business with Family Tire. Their employees are rude, disrespectful, unwelcoming, unprofessional, and some are even thieves. Save your time and secure your finances by not going to this establishment. read more

This was the worst customer experience I have had in my 52 years. I had a flat on Saturday morning and called Family Tire as soon as they opened on Saturday morning as I was headed out of town that day and needed to get it fixed ASAP. I was told bring it in and I might have to wait a short spell as there were a couple of cars ahead of me. I arrived at their location about 25 minutes later where they looked up my appointment via my phone number. I was told it would be at least 2 hours and maybe longer. As understandable, I was a bit frustrated and scrambled to find a rental car (having to get a ride to New Bern to pick one up) On Monday morning, having heard nothing as to the status of my car, I headed toward Family Tire and my husband delayed heading to New Bern for work to help me with the logistics of returning rental car and getting car. Since they don't open til 8 am, I was almost there when I was able to call them. The first person went to look me up and I was disconnected. I called back and was informed that my car hadn't even been worked on because they had determined that I needed 4 new tires. I was in shock as I have meetings all day and I was supposed to return the rental car by 10 am. I asked why they didn't call me and was told very bluntly "how would we call you when we didn't have your phone number" to which I replied "yes you do that is how you looked up my appointment" furthermore they had my Element Card (service card for company car) they could easily have called Element and ask for all my contact information. I then said, well what time can I get my car. The man said, "I had to order tires for your car so not today." Again I am in shock this is a "TIRE STORE" -- how do they not have any tires that will work on 2017 Ford Fusion? But mute point. I then said, "I have appointments all day." To which the man very bluntly responded - "well what do you want me to do about that." I said, "well good customer service would have resulted in a phone call to me so I could have arranged my day appropriately." To which he said, "well you can just find somewhere else to take your car" and then he hung up on me. Yes ---- he hung up on me. When I showed up to pick up my car, I let him know that I would be contacting their corporate headquarters to which he yelled and screamed at me. I am completely in shock. This guy should be fired. We used to love this tire shop when it was locally owned. Dave sold it in December 2017 and these clowns have ruined his business. Several folks have expressed their disdain for this shop under it's new owners. In fact, on Saturday, one person even said to me - "I can't believe you took your car there. Their customer service is awful." Lesson learned, I will never step foot on that property again. On a positive note, the local Ford Dealership fit me in this morning and guess what they actually have tires at their facility and their customer service was awesome!!! I have been servicing my cars at Family Tire for about a year. I purchased tires for my old pickup truck and I didn't want to invest a lot of money in tires because of its age. They understood and got me a great deal on new tires. Yesterday I showed up with my Jeep without an appointment, and they diagnosed my problem, replaced the belt and water pump and I was on my way in an hour and a half. And they also rotated my tires and rebalanced them to boot. They've also kept my A/C working on my old pickup truck for a very reasonable cost. Good people. read more

I took my car there for them to do three things: Replace a bad tire, check a starter issue, and replace a tail light bulb. They replaced the wrong tire. They gave a bad diagnosis and fixed the wrong thing. And they didn't replace the bulb. Maybe they were having a bad day but I have not gone back since. read more

I do all my own truck work, have for years, needed my inspection done on a Sunday they were open, went and then they said I needed 196.00 bucks of repairs to a new belt I just put on that was cracked which it wasn't and my headlights are new they said they can tell, and loose, they're 4 years old and fit fine passed every inspection as is since. So they wouldn't pass me unless I paid for false work, I said no, then made me pay for the inspection after failure because labor for the inspection was performed. Utter BS, so if you like being robbed with a pleasant smile and free wifi, by all means, otherwise take your business else where. Stopped on my way home to get my vehicle inspected for the second time and it took about 40 minutes for them to pull it in a bay, once in the bay, the technician made quick work of the inspection, then proceeded to sit on a stool for at least 20 minutes BS'ing with the lead technician..... The first time I guess all of the monitoring systems were not turned on, but everything else was good. This time, the window tint failed inspection. Same tint that's been on the last 5 years. I used to get my car serviced when I lived in New Bern. Two of the times that my car was serviced, the tech reported the wrong mileage, by 40,000 to the carfax. The third time they corrected but did not report the error to carfax. Now, when I was trading in my car, the dealer pulled the carfax and told me that it has a possible mileage rollback warning. Wtf. I have been going to this establishment for the past 10 years and ever since Mavis bought them, the service has truly gone to the wind. I was recommending people go to this location to get their vehicles serviced but now I don't even speak about this business. I can't believe how fast this establishment went down the tube. Guess they think that b/c we are limited by not having so many services here that they can speak or treat us like we are fools. I found out that Dave isn't with the business any longer and that has been since May of this year. Guess the Mavis company don't care about customer service b/c if they did then the back bone of this business would still be there. Now I have to find another business to service my car and I probably won't be able to find another one like this. I am surely going to miss the professionalism they brought to the company. I came to this shop 6/10. I came in, was greeted, told the man the issue I was having with my car (a shaky tire) and he took my keys. Almost two hours later he comes to me and says that I need new brakes. I told him I just changed my breaks. And he told me they were 80% worn down and they need to be replaced. Nothing else. I then asked about the fact my tire was shaking, he said they would check the balance. I then got up to walk around so I could pay and he told me about ten more minutes because they were putting the tires on. I said OK. I walk further into the lobby to see my car was in the lot. But I didn't say anything. I waited 15 more minutes and a mechanic handed him some keys. He then calls me the wrong name and says, "the Toyota camry." I told him "no, that the avalon, the Toyota avalon was mine." He looked puzzled reached behind him where there were other folders and took out mine. I asked him how much and he said free of charge because of your wait. I was like cool. I get on the road AND MY TIRE WAS STILL SHAKING! I then went to another auto shop where not only did they tell me what was going on but showed me as well. The young man at this shop said he would balance my tires to see if that helps but if not to come back. I said OK. After getting my car from them, no issues. Driving perfectly. With that said: 1) you didn't know which car was mine 2) you didn't even check my car I will never be coming back here nor would I recommend this place. I go back and now I'm being told I won't be able to get and oil change until the end of the day. Sent away twice. Dave and the gang have taken care of me and multiple vehicles for years and years here in New Bern. I've taken advantage of their lifetime alignment plan to save me excess wear on tires. They've even been able to knockout issues with wheels I had on a handcart.. quicker in and out than I could write this review! I recently needed tires for my wife's vehicle. I went to several area tire merchants for comparison of prices and service. I knew what tires I wanted and had the size and brand written down. The salesman looked up the tires and began quoting prices. At first the price was right where the other merchants had been. All of a sudden he says there is a "tire pressure sensor resetting" fee of $12 per tire. Excuse me! He did not even know or ask what type of vehicle I have. Seriously folks, be careful with the add on expenses for non-existent services. Very surprised and disappointed that a local business incorporates this practice. read more

Got tires changed a week prior to coiming into Family Tire. It was pulling to the right really bad and got worse when I applied gas. When i came into Family tire, i spoke to a man who should be on the paper work. I explained the car was pulling to the right. I said it could be the new tires i bought recently. He jotted down notes as I talked to him. I told him to not do any repairs until they found out the problem and got authorization from me first before any repairs. When I talked to them they tried talking me into 3 different flushes. But stated they did an alignment (without my consent) and the problem was now fixed. When i walked in to get my car, i was told everything problems were fixed and to pay to get my keys. I did as such. Once I left and was leaving home to get my son I realized my car felt the same as it did before. No problems were fixed. I actually doubt they even did they alignment. I took a test drive with the man that supposely did the work. He talked to me like I knew nothing about cars. He blamed my make and model, the type of tires bought, as well telling me the alignment felt great. Let me mention I floored my gas and it violently pulled to the right, just as it did when I dropped off the vehcile. EXACTLY the SAME.I asked him if he thought the tire was an issue like i mentioned when i dropped it off. He also said it was in the notes and they thought it could be it.I asked why he didnt put the tire on the other side of the vehicle to see if it pulled that way to determine if the tire was faulty first before an alignment. His response was ( Im not going to do all that) So it was easier to charge me nearly $100 and be lazy instead of being a good business and finding out the problem. A tire rotation could of ruled out a bad tire for around $10. But they wouldn't be making much money off me with that right? After having enough of this man lie to me and treat me like im stupid. I brought the car back and went inside. I asked to speak to a manager. I have been driving my whole life and know quite alot about cars. This is why i was furious after this man tried to sell me bullshit. I was told the work would be done that day. They were closed the next day. No one called me or let me know anything. 2 days later i got a voicemail stating to call them. When I called them they informed me they did work to my car without my consent, they said they fixed the problem. I brought the car in because it was pulling to the right. When I got my car back it was pulling just as bad to the right. They didnt fix the problem i brought it in for. They did work to my vehicle without my consent. They tried to oversell me things i didnt need. They charged me and said vechile is fixed and it is not. ( actually dont even think they did an alignment at all ) I told them to find out why the car was pulling to the right and told them about the new tires and problems with the car started right then.
