My friend and I went here for lunch on St. Patrick's Day and what a fun experience! The place was decked out with festive decor and had various areas for seating. The Irish coffees are next level! I ordered the Spiced Irish Coffee and the Sweeney's Best. I was going to stop at one beverage but the super warm and friendly server talked me into trying a second beverage, and I'm so glad that he was so convincing! Considering the amount of people there that day, our server was very attentive and definitely hustling. I ordered a Corned Beef Sandwich, and my friend ordered a Turkey Reuben. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and I especially liked the horseradish that came with my meal, and I typically dislike horseradish! Last but not least, they had plenty of live entertainment which included a bagpiper!!! How cool is that? This place is a staple in Twinsburg and has been for the last 20 years or so. I do feel that it has lost some of its charm since it opened and that the quality of the food is hit and miss. That being said, I do enjoy the atmosphere and wood interior. They could do with dimming the lighting a little bit to give it a more aithentic public house feel. The menu is fairly diverse and stereotypically Irish with funny names for food items like Kieran's quesadillas and Irish eggrolls. I will admit that I have probably only had five or six different menu items, including the shepherds pie, fish and chips, and schnitzel. The shepherds pie was passable. The schnitzel was soggy and not particularly tasty. The fish and chips is OK (I've had it several times) but I do not care for the batter they use at all. It is not even close to an authentic beer batter like you would find in Ireland or the UK. The flavor is neutral, and usually some sections of the batter become exceptionally hard for some reason. I do frequently attend their Thursday night trivia which is a lot of fun. All in all, I feel like Mavis Winkle's could be doing a lot of things a lot better but I guess it is passible for a little town like Twinsburg. read more

My group and I meet here frequently. There's 6-8 of us. Been coming for years. We were there last night, and couple of things. The hummus was runny and had no flavor. It has always been very consistent in the past. Thick, and flavorful. Not this time. Also, the pretzels used to come with a boursin type cheese but now comes with a beer cheese. It got cold fast and got thick so was not enjoyable. A couple of us got a side salad and it was $6.99! It was a good salad but an extremely small bowl for that price. I sure miss the days when you got consistently good food and good portions. We will continue to go because it's a great central location for us to get together. Another bar food establishment, Mavis Winkles professes an Irish theme. But our group, being our group didn't order a single Irish specialty though more than few appear on their extensive menu. Instead 2 opted for sandwiches and sides and I opted to try one of the latest menu additions, the Saint Louis ribs. The libs were great with a full rack the better deal and enough for two diners to feast on. The accompanying fries were good but the coleslaw was a bit lacking. The turkey sandwich was good and bring a friend to help with the tater tots side. The French dip was the only failure at the table with meat that appeared to be pressed and was visually unappetizing. It's Clambake Season and Mavis Winkles is on par for this annual delight. My spouse and another couple dined there on Saturday. We were not disappointed. The Clambake consistng of a bowl of clam chowder, a dozen+ clams, halve a chicken, cole slaw, corn on the cob, sweet potato, cinnamon butter and a roll. I ordered a Smithwicks, my friend enoyed a Makers on the rocks. The ladies weren't sure about the draught beer selection so our waitress [Sophie] offered to bring them a sample of the Smithwicks to taste, which they both liked and ordered. We have enoyed this Clambake going on five years and have not been disappointed. This is the second time for the other couple and they were very pleased, as well. Yesterday, both my wife and I had the "Twins burger" The bun is excessively large (height-wise) which IMO is intended to dwarf the "double" patties, which are now 2/3rd the size they were in the past. The zucchini sticks appetizer were tasty. This rating is not a reflection on the waiter, as he was excellent and we tipped him well. Mavis is not just a sports bar. It's an Irish Pub with Irish music and Irish food...meals! Took a chance with girl friends, knowing that Mavis is coming to Solon, so we wanted to try it. The food and service were very good. There are several dining areas, one in a side room, and the bar. At lunch the rooms were almost full, and they weren't noisy. You could hear the music! We enjoyed our visit. We ordered from a well-stocked menu of Irish fare. Everything we ate. Here was way over salted. The worst defending item was there dry rub Cajun cauliflower. Everything salted so heavily. You can barely taste the actual flavors. The Caesar salad had a lot of croutons and not very much cheese. The salad also was not very green and fresh looking. The Gyro meat was very greasy dripping in Greece and salty. The prices I felt were been on the high end for what I got $55 for basically a Gyro, Caesar salad and appetizer of cauliflower and entrée of one stuffed cabbage with mashed potatoes and vegetable. Local place to us here in Twinsburg. For whatever reason, we don't visit as often as we probably should. To be picky, I always feel closed in when I am there. I understand the identifying as an Irish Pub and that's how they are supposed to be, but for me the sectioning off just feel too closed. There was a smaller crowd for a Saturday night, but I have seen it busier there as well in the past. Last night, we had a nice group of about 15. CJ, our server, who is great by the way, allowed us to split into two tables with no issues. This was way better than needing to move tables around and such. The menu is solid. I still enjoy the fact they combined the Twinsburgers menu with the original menu from Mavis Winkles. I so wanted to try something off of the Twinsburgers menu, but I just can't get away from their fish and chips. As mentioned, I got the first and chips. Always well prepared, and the pieces of fish are large. My wife got her favorite, corned beef boxty, which again was cooked the way it should be. My daughter got the chicken parm, which for a picky eater, she ate quickly, and even had a little left over for her to eat soon. Price wise, it is about the same as most places, so I didn't feel like I overpaid at all. They also have a rewards program through Toast, which basically translates into 10 percent off each dollar to use or bank for future visits when you accrue enough points. It really isn't a lot of points to start earning either. Nice touch to me. It is no doubt on our list of places to go more often! Overall, you should give it a try. A Twinsburg staple for sure. A St. Patrick's Day must! No reservations for this day. There definitely is a wait, but an Irish Pub on St. Patrick's Day, what can you expect?! You head inside and immediately, the music hits your ears and you're just taking it all in. We didn't wait too long to be seated despite all of that. There was a very condensed menu. The Winkle Wings were a solid choice. They are bigger than most I'd say. The haddock sandwich was huge! A solid crunch to it, very much enjoyed by my Dad. My mom went the most Irish withe corned beef and cabbage. The drink had was a very unique and smooth flavor she really enjoyed. My dad and brother had a sip and weren't too crazy on it. Then again, they're not too big on cream liqueur. The atmosphere at Mavis Winkle's is great any day, but on March 17th everyone in there is Irish and having a great time. Mavis's Winkle's was the site for my husband's 70th birthday surprise party. MaryAnn was very helpful with planning, recommending amounts of food, etc. She definitely answered all my questions and set me at ease! Our server Brandon was phenomenal! No one had to wait for a beverage, and he was very friendly with all our guests. MaryAnn cut the cake, while Brandon served it. They boxed up and labeled our leftovers, and helped us load things in our cars. We received many compliments on how good and plentiful all the food was! First time here and immediately love the decor. I'm a huge fan of a good Irish pub. The bartender was so helpful. I'm ordering the Chicken Paprika (first time trying it) and the corned beef and cabbage dinner. It's a lot of food but she says the corned beef is the best. So the Guinness onion soup.. SO DAMN GOOD! Coming home from a meeting in Hudson on a late afternoon Friday I felt like some Fish and Chips and Yelp recommended Marvis Winkles; I have driven by so many times and never stopped so why not. Located just off of I-480 in Twinsburg at the back corner of the shopping plaza, Mavis Winkles is a cozy Irish Pub with a small bar, 3 dining rooms and a patio. Decor is understated with lots of dark wood, a stone fireplace and robust tables and chairs. With the pandemic they are spacing out the tables used, requiring masks when not at a table and the employees are wearing masks as well. Service was friendly and quick, except I waited about 5 minutes at the host stand without anyone even acknowledging me. The menu is the usual Irish Pub fare, but I had already decided that Fish and Chips was the choice before I walked in the door. Fish and Chips are $12.99 for a single piece of fish and $6 more to add a second filet. The meal came out quickly, piping hot and delicious. The large fillet of Halibut is mild and flaky, the fried batter coating was crisp and clung to the fish nicely. The good sized portion of french fries were crisp and tasty, the coleslaw was just fine. Nothing was oily or greasy; overall one of the best examples of fish and chips in the area. Went to their clambake on Friday and it was a good as ever. The clams, chowder and chicken were delicious. Served with a sweet potato, corn on the cob and a dinner roll. We come back year after year and have not been disappointed. They have a great selection of beers on tap as well as cocktails. You can't go wrong with a pint of Smithwicks, either! I have frequented this business a few times.. adequate service. On this occasion, a high school function was being held with a set menu. Service was less that desirable, the group was crowded into the room. Since this was a school event, I wasn't going to make a hassle. When the food arrived, the burger was very disappointing and not worth what was paid. When paying the bill, I added a gratuity and learned later that a gratuity was automatically added due to the event and the server NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT IT BEING ADDED. A few days after the event, I called the location to ask regarding the gratuity and to remark about the burger. The person who answered the phone said the owner was not there and they'd leave the message. I should expect a return call in the near future. Time went by, like weeks into a month, and I found the receipt again. Admittedly being disgruntled that no one returned the call, I called the location again. I spoke with Ed. He is apparently the owner. He was belligerent. He was argumentative. He was not consumer friendly. He admonished me that I should have called earlier, or even said something while I was there. He taunted me and when I became irate, he was condescending. His attitude fueled my fire. The interaction ended with me hanging up on him. Went here for my first time last Wednesday which happened to be wing night. I got a seat at the bar and the service was excellent. I had 6 of the wet Cajun wings and a side Caesar salad. We have ordered from this place twice now. The first time, I had the meatloaf and my husband had a Reuben. We thought it was fantastic. Flavorful, filling, NOT A CHAIN. All things we love. We decided to order again a week later and now I'm really sold. I had the pork schnitzel that was phenomenal. The combination of spaetzel, pork, onions and gravy was incredible. As good as any schnitzel I had while traveling through Bavarian villages in Germany last year. My husband had the paprikash that he said was outstanding too. Stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday. We were greeted quickly. Our service was great even correcting a wrong drink order when it was not the bar's mistake. Menu had a lot to offer and a wide range options. I had a burger and onion rings we also had the steak salad and another burger with sweet potato fries. The food was good though my burger was overcooked. I didn't complain since I was hungry and we were short in time. Everything was fresh and tasted good other then the over cooked burger. We have been costumers since we moved to the area in 2005. Have always had a good experience. However, recently, they have gone to "smash burgers" rather than the real burgers they had in the past. "Smash burgers" are a lazy way to make burgers in which you no longer need skill and culinary ability to determine the level of cooking for a burger. It allows the cooks to not care about the proper way to cook ground beef. The old burgers were one of the few things my wife could enjoyed but only as medium rare. All "smash burgers" are well done. Sadly, this is not how burgers should be prepared. Sad to say, our visits in the future will be few if ever. read more
