There is another indonesian food called bali thai in thai if you are interested in indonesian food. Got the sambal matah which is a balinese way of spicy. Love spicy food but didnt expect it to beat my level of spicyness. Nonetheless, the pork was so damnn good too though really recommend it. The chicken skin just made me have a nostalgic moment of my hometown. Even crisps wont be able to beat how the crispy chicken skin. Also, a meal wont be complete without teh botol so make sure you get it! Recommended! Cheers!

I have searched high and low for a good Indonesian fried rice and no avail until I found Peranakan Kitchen in New West. They're only doing take outs as they work from a commercial kitchen. They also take orders from UberEats and Skip the dishes (I think). Let me tell you about this fried rice, it was truly love at first bite. It was the right amount of spice, heat, and that noticeable fragrant from the wok-hei. I live in the North Shore, at least once a month I have to go to PK and order. Same goes with their fried noodles. It was amazing. The one that is unique and not to mention extra tasty is their deep fried pork rice bowl with Balinese sambal matah. It's a mix of shallots, chillies, lemongrass, and chiffonade makrut lime leaves. I am salivating just thinking about it as I am writing this. The staff are super friendly and warm. Can't wait to go back and eat! Thank you Peranakan Kitchen

Absolutely love this place! Didn't know there was this hidden gem food court in Richmond. With most…read moreserving East Asian cuisines, it was a pleasant surprise to see a restaurant serving Southeast Asian food. Gee has a wide variety of foods from Laksa, curries and fried noodles -- mostly offered in an Indonesian style. I ordered the lobster laksa and the beef rendang and was quite pleased with both. The beef rendang was very authentic, tasted excellent and had the perfect balance of crunchy texture and savoury flavours. The Lobster laksa was good and the spicy coconut milk had a good taste but not as authentic as the rendang. I would probably try the shrimp laksa next time as a go-to dish. Overall, very good meal from a food court and would recommend coming here if you are in the neighbourhood. I will be back to try the kweitiau goreng (fried noodle) and the kari ayam (curry chicken rice)!

During my first visit I ordered the monthly special, which was a Burmese burger with mala spiced fries . The Burmese burger featured tea leaf aioli that I could honestly bathe as it was swimmingly delicious. I wish the fries had a little bit more spice, but we a good accompaniment.. After reading some reviews on yelp I came back a second time and ordered what seemed to be a local favorite which were the salted egg yolk chicken wings, which were honestly to die for especially with the chili crisp sauce . New favorite dish alert !!!!! Super crispy , salty , flaky and unique chicken wings . First time I ever tried salted egg anything despite seeing it as an option a few times in the past at Chinese restaurants in San Francisco, as well as in Singapore. I'm grateful that this place put "salted egg "on my radar. I've since had several dreams about those chicken wings and was a little sad two weeks later that the place was remodeling. It was literally my first stop after getting my rental car. I'm glad though that this place is only a temporary closed due to remodeling as I highly recommend this place.

Usually we could eat those dishes in Singapore and Malaysia as street food but we were lucky that we could eat them here in Canada. I recommended reserving a table if you haven't tried more than four guests. When we placed an order, we had to go to the counter, ordered the food and paid. The service was good. Servers were friendly. We could find street parking but I would recommend parking in the residential area and walking to the restaurant.

We were not even hungry, as we ate breakfast/lunch while being in Steveston Village, and walking around noticed a sign for a bakery, and my 'meat-addicted' mind wanted to come into this place! They are the new kids to the block, but when you enter you know quality when you see it. All types of meat, some even 'dangerous' looking (the all albino white one, see that and you be the judge!') to your arteries, but you know it's going to be so damn good in your mouth. The people working here were very informative as to their product, knowledgable and friendly. Explaining the whole process of the meats, as to where they are processed, what is in all their versions of sausage, the ingredients, the taste, and even the storage, and knowing that there is no preservatives, so you shouldn't just buy, and keep them laying around in the fridge, as they will discolor, but don't you worry, they are still edible, just not as attractive as when you bought them, and that is why you should come in here, buy, go home, cook and enjoy! I ended up buying two sausages from them for our late dinner breakfast, yes it sounds weird, I know, having buttermilk pancakes for dinner, and I needed a meat side, and I was amazed at the flavor of these links! My partner was iffy about the feta cheese that was in these things, but the hint of spice, there was fruit in them, and meat, a mixture that just made us wish we had more, but now we know, this is the place to hit up for your specialty quality meats if your in Richmond. Already thinking of the next 'breakfast' time, and making the trek to try their other assortment of sausages, and maybe tempt that maple bacon I saw out of the corner of my eye!
