And, unlike most other companies I talked to, Ivan will not charge for parking tickets - if anything he will have a mover stay with the truck if legal parking is an issue. I was looking for "the right" company to pack and move me from NYC to San Diego, CA. I searched and read on Yelp and other platforms to evaluate and educate myself on potential service providers. I have moved many times across country as well as locally twice within NYC. I've learned by experience that there can be many "hidden fees" with moving service providers. I did my homework and secured bids from several companies - and decided on Maxi Moving. Here's Why!!: 1. Their price wasn't the most expensive nor the least, but the bid they gave me was detailed and accurate. I also felt comfortable in knowing what additional costs may be such as access delay to building, wait time, etc. Bottom line I felt comfortable with the transparency of their bid to complete my move and placed a deposit to secure service for my move out date. 2. They were responsive and sent two people to my condo the day I requested a bid for service. NOTE: I was looking for BOTH packing and moving service. The assessment included physical evaluation, as well as videos. It took them more than an hour, but I felt they did a throughout assessment of "my stuff'. 3. The information gathered on the evaluation/assessment of the contents of my household goods was then converted a few days later into a formal and detailed bid. Upon receipt of the bid, I called to speak to Max and asked a million follow up questions to be sure I understood the terms of the price quote. All of my questions were answers and I was confident to retain their service. 4. In the end, I chose the consolidated long distance move. If you plan ahead and aren't in a huge hurry to receive your load, this is by far the best price value. It's not cheap to move from the East Coast to the West Coast!! Also it's less expense to move after the first weekend of the month. I had flexibility on my move date and chose this money saving option. 5. Moving day - I advised the scheduler in advance that my building required COI, as well as Masonite Board to be used on the hallways, and that the move out MUST be completed by 4 pm. The crew brought the Masonite board, set it up. I was told they understood and would accommodated the move out "time frame" window for my building between 8 am to 4 pm. Maxi used a staggered work force of packers and loaders to get my 2 bed apt packed and loaded by the 4 pm deadline. There was so much activity, I stayed on the lanai and worked from my patio table and chairs while the Maxi Movers did their "thing". The patio furniture was the last to load. And then the crew leader and I did a walk thru before he closed out the paperwork and I made the balance payment. NO additional fees! 6. I will update the review once I receive my cross country load. But at this point, everything was completed to my satisfaction and "no additional charges" thus far. I was reminded by the crew leader that there "may be" an additional charge (shuttle service) if the cross country truck cannot access my new apt (requiring a "shuttle" fee to transport via a smaller size truck. But, again, that point, was clearly explained before I retained their service. read more

I was so pleased with Maxi Moving, from the start of the process with getting a quote to the end of moving day when I thanked Egor and his crew. They were professional, thorough, and organized. Ivan was also a wonderful manager and coordinator in overseeing the administrative side of the job. He listened patiently, gave great feedback, was always available, and very open when it came to any changes. The flat fee was also very reasonable, with no hidden or trumped up charges at the end. The guys also wore masks, and were conscious of social distancing (as much as one could be during a NYC move in the middle of August). Maxi Moving provided an accurate quote, came on time, and moved all my stuff into a third-floor walk-up with pretty narrow stairs. They were also the only moving company I contacted who a) understood my concerns about moving my giant couch and b) were able to add in the services of a couch doctor. The couch doctor did reschedule on me a few times and it wound up taking a few days extra to get my couch put back together, but it did happen and I was very satisfied with their services protecting my couch. I had an Ikea Pax wardrobe which is very complex. They disassembled and assembled at my new home. They wrapped all furniture with protective coverings, and taped all the edges. They brought bins to move all loose items. I am happy with their service. They completed the entire move within 6.5 hours which was close to their initial quote. My experience with this company was great from start to finish. The quote process was a breeze and updating my inventory was just as simple. Henry was very accommodating and friendly. The truck arrived on time in the estimated time window and the three guys that came were all professional. I didn't order any packing materials on advance, but Roman gave me great options and I ended up using the plastic wrapping that was done very quickly and professionally. All my boxes and the wrapped furniture were treated with respect and care. They even cooperated with me while I was trying to keep track of my numbered boxes. They did the same thing when they were unloading as well. They arrived at the destination before I got there (in another state) and were already unpacking everything so that by the time I arrived the unloading process went very quickly. My husband and I just used Maxi moving to unload a u-box from u-haul. I thought they were fair but not great. The pros were: timeliness , communication throughout about time and price, and they finished ahead of schedule. The con: they did the bare minimum regarding moving things. I felt like I was annoying them when I asked for things. For example, they didn't really want to put the queen bed together and stated the screws were missing. However, the screws were taped to the frame. Once they finished assembling the bed the main movers left to the truck and Ivan came to collect payment. However, there was trash, moving blankets left to clean up from the furniture that was wrapped. We had time left in our minimum for them to help us take it to the trash. Instead they left. There were a few hiccups with the second day of the move, and I expressed my displeasure to the head mover. A couple of days later, a manager called me and called again when I failed to return his call. He wanted to know what he could do to make things right.
