Love the customer service. Delicious food. Had the crazy girl specialty roll. Fired tofu for an appetizer.

We had dinner, Kay was our server and she could not have been nicer. She made the whole experience just lovely their menu is quite expansive , so many options . There is plenty to choose from for those that do not eat sushi . The sushi was delightful . We can't wait to return .

This was one of the first restaurants I decided to try in ocean shores. The food was pretty good and the service was decent as well. Ambiance was a lot more casual and they were not too busy when we got there. I ordered food for the kids and they loved it but they do not have a menu for kids so be ready to pay for adult meals for them as well. My only complaint would be the price, I know sushi can get expensive but this was one of the more pricey places I have been to for what you get. They are close to the water so I'm sure there are plenty tourist willing to pay. If you want sushi though and don't mind higher prices then you will probably enjoy this place.

Solid sushi! My husband and I tried this place today. He got a bento box and I got the "shogun" plate, which was a combo of nigiri and sushi rolls (chef's choice on the nigiri). I also added a couple of pieces of unagi (eel), my fav. We each tried everything....was really yummy and fresh! Tempura was really light and crispy. We'll definitely be back. Service was very friendly.

Bento (chicken teriyaki, tempura, spicy tuna roll)

My boyfriend and I came here this past week for dinner. We originally were going to go to Genie Pizza down the way, but they were cash only and so we went to Umi instead. Umi is a family-run restaurant. The owner's cute daughter greets you by the door. There is a television with cartoon shows playing in one corner of the restaurant. I ordered a bento with teriyaki chicken, tempura, and spicy tuna roll ($19.95). The bentos came with rice, miso soup, and salad. My boyfriend ordered the same except with gyoza instead of tempura. The miso soup was hot and not overly salty. It comes from a mix like most other miso soups. They serve it in cute barrel-like bowls with soup spoons. Traditionally, you drink soup right out of the bowl without a spoon, but maybe they're trying to cater to a more modern audience. The bento box was more than enough for me; my boyfriend ate some of my mine because he wasn't quite filled by his. The tempura was the best part of the bento; it included potato, sweet potato, broccoli, shrimp, and onion. Some vegetable pieces were slightly undercooked, but not terribly. The tempura sauce though was watery and tasteless- you're better off just using the soy sauce provided at the table. The chicken teriyaki was okay- the sauce was kind of thick; you can tell it comes straight out of a bottle. The spicy tuna roll was also just okay; it was a bit too mushy for my taste but at least had a kick of sriracha to it. The rice was slightly too mushy. The salad was not going to lie, pretty sad. The cabbage was wilted and the salad dressing was overly thick. Service was good. We were quick to be served, granted it was around 8pm and so there were only a few other diners in the restaurant. In summary, this was the Asian food I was expecting in Ocean Shores. Just passable for those who want something other than fish or pizza, but nothing to rave home about. Overall: 3/5 for food, 4/5 for service

    Popcorn lobster. Don't order it.

I came here with my family not having high expectations but I thought I would have a ok food at least. Did not happened. Imagine the cheapest food quality you can offer to someone. Yes, you can find it here. We ordered a couple of appetizers: Popcorn lobster, which was the the tiniest baby lobster breaded. The portion was hilarious, very time and it costed $13.50. Not worth $5. We also had the Calamari tempura which was good but again 8:50 for 5 calamari rings. Mu husband ordered a chicken yakisoba. The chicken was tasteless and again very small amount. I ordered the shrimp fried rice. It was also tasteless and the amount of shrimp was also a joke and was the king of shrimp we use in cocktail shrimp. The tiniest you can find. Both plates came with a tiny portion of salad. Also tasteless. I just had a bite and gave up. Drinks are on the bottle and the tea came already made in a cup. I don't know if it comes with refills or not. I wonder if their sushi is better then the food we got but at this point I am pretty sure I won't be back. The service is as horrible as the food is. Waiter was not interested on being there at all and never came to check on us. Definitely I do not recommend this place. Which was a very cheap quality food, bad customer service, and super expensive food for what they offer (Bad quality).

I love Umi, but my god, update your hours. It's 6:41 on Wednesday and you're not open. That sucks when you make dinner plans.

At Bennett's they have both cod and halibut. Unfortunately for me they only batter their cod and if you want halibut you have to have panko crumbed. The person behind the counter where you order said they prep ahead and they couldn't put the batter on halibut. I also just wanted water as that's my favorite beverage. She told me I couldn't have a regular glass of water with ice. I had to buy it in a bottle with their name printed on the label. It felt like a way to wring yet more money out of their customers. I much prefer generosity to stinginess. It just put me off from the beginning. The cod was fine. But unlike most restaurants when you get fish & chips, there was no coleslaw. All that was on my plate was part of a limp lettuce leaf for a poor excuse of a garnish. We had 2 veggie wraps and a fish sandwich in our party as well. Everybody liked their food well enough. My daughter really liked her fish sandwich. I eat out a lot and Bennett's cutting corners and lack of generosity is unlike the vast majority of restaurants I've been to. I have no desire to return. My mother-in-law lives in Ocean Shores and had suggested the Thai place. Guess we'll go there next time.

The food quality has improved a great deal since I was last here a few years ago. I ordered the seafood fettuccine, cheese curds and Brussels sprouts. The serving sizes of the pasta and sprouts was for 2 people. I inhaled the pasta dish, so incredibly tasty. The seafood was fresh, and there was just one small hard bit of clam shell but that happens when serving them on the shell. Jumbo shrimp wasn't expected and seemed to have been swimming that morning. Tasty salmon. Divine sauce, which I don't think I've ever thought of an Alfredo before. Quality cheese. The sprouts were roasted/blackened, and tasted great. A bit of fried onions, I think, sprinkled on top that I just ate around (just not for me). Cheese curds were still hot and fresh with marinara and a BBQ sauce I added. Leftovers fed me lunch the next day. It was one of those meals where I was ful but wanted to keep eating, it was so delicious.

The service seemed friendly overall, but there were moments that said otherwise. When a glass of water was spilled right in front of the server, she didn't offer any extra napkins or help clean the table. My pasta was worse than Domino's. I didn't even take it to go -- it was completely bland, and the shrimp were tough. My aunt ordered fish with vegetables, and the carrots were clearly burnt. At first, I thought maybe it was some kind of preparation style I didn't understand, but no -- they were simply burnt. Honestly, it's especially disappointing because I had recommended this place to my friends before. I live a few hours away and came here partly for good food, but even being very hungry after the long wait didn't make the meal any better. The oysters were also flavorless. On top of that, I didn't feel well after dinner and had stomach pain. I can't say for sure it was caused by the food, but it definitely added to the negative experience.

Tonight, we did an impromptu pop-in as my husband's physician ordered to increase fish and seafood to 3 times per week. Looks like we'll be enjoying more Nori then, YAY!! I just wish we lived a little closer. Tonight, we ordered Crunch California, Picante, Big Mike, and Black Widow sushi rolls, along with Gyoza and Crispy Crab Rangoons to share family style. Ooh my tummy is rumbling just thinking about all of the yummy goodness soon to come! We are meeting up with our brother and sister to share. I highly recommend Nori for a casual lunch or dinner date, or double or triple date. We love their sushi, their entrees, noodles and rice dishes, and their soups. Who am I kidding? Every menu item we have partaken in, has been delightfully enjoyable! Give them a try just once, and I can bet confidently, you will be coming back time and time again.

I consider myself a bit of a sushi connoisseur (my husband just calls me "bougie" lol), so I figured we'd give this place a try since it was convenient and a sushi place for me to try. When we walked in, it was completely empty and there was a sign up at the entrance mentioning they were hiring servers. The restaurant seemed spacious but maybe it felt that way because all the tables were unoccupied. It took a few seconds before someone came out, but the girl who helped us ended up being the only saving grace of the entire experience. She was super sweet, told us we could sit anywhere, brought menus right away, and was on top of everything: drinks, appetizer, sushi, clearing plates. She was honestly the only person we interacted with the whole time. I did end up going to the register to pay after our meal, since she got busy once more people came in, but she handled everything she could really well. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the service. It was simply mediocre. The shrimp tempura tasted undercooked (I could still taste the batter smh). My husband got the Red Dragon roll and I got the Big Mike. He asked for no cucumber and they were accommodating. Regarding portion sizes, they're generous, and I can see how that might appeal to the general palate. I like that the rolls were cut nicely too, where the rolls were a little thinner than your standard piece, so they were easy to eat. The torched salmon and eel were probably the best parts of what I ordered. But overall, the quality felt pretty average. The rice was lacking flavor and kind of just tasted like plain filler. Our total came out to about $57 before tip, and honestly, it didn't feel worth it. Most rolls averaged $19, but they tasted more like something you'd expect at a cheaper spot. I've had similar sushi before that I'd consider more of a budget option (not amazing, but decent for the price). This sushi was passable but tasted more like $15 for a roll.. Just subpar for my standards. I think what made it more disappointing is that when I go out for sushi, I am expecting something better than what I could make at home (and yes, I have made sushi before with sashimi-grade fish, sushi rice, etc.). It is convenient to have someone cook for you, and good sushi is supposed to feel like an extraordinary experience. That's why I dine out at sushi restaurants but this just didn't hit the spot. Overall, amazing service, but the food was pretty underwhelming for the price.
