She went over and beyond her duties. She did the little things that made her an excellent waitress and could tell she was a good person. Oh, how I love this place! Again, not the prettiest, or the neatest, but really one of my favorite places to eat in town. We were in Ocean Shores for the weekend, so we decided to grab a family style meal here because our last visit was so good. We got the Mandarin style this time, for takeout, and it did not disappoint. The Kung Pao chicken was really good, as was the Szechuan Beef. Two eggrolls (pretty good), BBQ pork (nice!), pork fried rice...and we had enough food left over for breakfast for two the next morning. Yes, we eat Chinese food for breakfast. Don't judge. I had low, very low expectations for good Chinese food in a small coastal town; I was so WRONG!!! We ordered the Sizzling Iron platter with shrimp, scallops, and chicken and it brought me back to the old Chinese restaurants in Seattle circa 1960s. Often when you have a triad of proteins, something suffers: shrimp rubbery, chicken dry...but not the experience this time. They open at 12pm and we got there right at the time they opened. Unfortunately they were not ready yet to receive customer but we didn't mind seating while they finishing up opening. They offered tea and egg drop soup on the house (they called it differently but that's how I know the soup name). The service was good and food came out fast. I noticed most people order for to go and there were quite good amount of senior citizens going to this place around 12:30pm, so I'm assuming this is a local's favorite(?). We ordered: -lunch combo A: almond chicken chow mein, BBQ pork and sweet and sour chicken It was ok, good value though. The chow mein came with crispy noodle but if you want the regular pan fried then it's extra (gotta let them know). BBQ pork was decent, it came with mustard sauce with sesame. Sweet and sour chicken was my least favorite in this but it was fine. -lunch combo B: pork fried rice and beef and brocoli It was pretty good. This was my favorite among our dish. Beef and brocoli was really authentic and the fried rice had good pieces of char siu pork. Portion were generous and we had a lot of left over. I think it's a pretty good deal. Inedible. The food was largely frozen junk and otherwise there was no thought or quality control whatsoever. Really bad food. I don't expect five star gourmet in Ocean Shores, but you should be able to actually eat the food you're served at a Chinese restaurant. This was frozen drek. Got lunch to-go today. Impressed by the kindness, speed and taste of the food. Order to-go only now, no seating. Have to order outside in the freezing winter or call in advance. Had a good lunch combo that was only $10.95 for three items. The pork chow mein was ok and I really liked the sweet and sour chicken that had generous pieces of chicken. Came with steamed rice. Really generous portions; going to have leftovers for dinner. Got a side of pot stickers not realizing the lunch was going to be so big. I ate them first, they were just right. My order took about 10 minutes and was brought out to me to my car. Surprise large order of egg flower soup with crackers was given to me as a first time customer and to warm me up, they said. Disclosure: Ocean Shores resident reviewer who recently moved from Seattle. I am of Asian descent and know the difference between Ameican Chinese and authentic Chinese. Food: Great American Chinese food selections are available here with a slight Lucky Dragon twist. If you are used to typical Chinese food offered by American restaurants, you'll be very happy eating here. They have all the staples, including hamburger and fries, if you can't tolerate spice. Quality: Meats and veggies are very fresh. I have a medical condition where I am highly sensitive to old meat. (Histamine releases more from old meat) I don't have reactions. I even have a severe reaction to crustaceans, and never had I ever had a reaction. I have not yet tried any noodle dishes, so I can't comment on it. Portions and Value: I have seen prices this love during lunch specials or dinner at any Chinese restaurant since the 90s! Portion sizes are massive. Most of my to go orders are overflowing in a Styrofoam box. When I eat in, I always need a to go box. I am petite so I can make 4 meals from one order. My husband, who is 410 lbs, is very happy with his portion. Important items to note: Freshness, quality, and value are important to me when selecting a "Go to" Chinese comfort food restaurant. Plus consistency! Their food is consistently flavorful, and the chef is very good. The parking lot has been expanded, so there is an additional gravel parking lot next to the restaurant. I have seen my 20-minute order take 1.5 hours (not at this restaurant but others in town) You will see impatient and angry tourists who are hungry. Bring snacks and plan your visit ahead of time. Call the restaurant to make sure they are open and check on wait times. Summary This is my go-to spot for Chinese because their quality, quantity, and customer service are amazing. Somehow this restaurant got low stars but "good written reviews" so we went. It was getting late for dinner almost 8 and most places in town closed at 9 but lucky dragon is open til 10 so we left our musty motel room to come here. It smelled like cigarettes upon arrival and I don't know if that was just how the place smelled or if it was from a patron or worker in there but it was strong the whole visit. The booth was dirty and the window we sat by was even worse. Covered with dust and dirt, the horse fly at home on the blinds probably loved it there, we wished he would fly away. They offered bubble tea but were out of "bubbles" as she said it, so basically they had smoothies and no tapioca. We stuck with water and this is one of those places where you wish they would have given you a straw to drink out of the cups. Pork seemed to dominate the menu. Every combo came with pork. I got the no2 dinner combo which was pork fried rice 8/10. Pork chow mein 2/10, sweet and sour chicken 1/10. It was ~$13 for that so I wasn't even that bummed most of the food sucked. My kids shared chicken chow mein with a side of white rice for $16 it was a big serving, taste = 3/10. If this was a restaurant in the "city" like Tacoma, Lakewood, anywhere basically that offers Xfinity service I would give this place a 1out of 5. Since ocean shores is a world of its own with nothing to offer besides the beautiful ocean itself I would give this place 3 out of 5 in its town but on yelp im still giving it a 1 because you still shouldn't eat here. read more

Someone mentioned the bathrooms and the smell at this place and thankfully I saw their review before investing in taking my mother and I in here for lunch/dinner. The smell is noticeable as soon as you go to pull the door open. We then checked out the bathroom before we officially sat down. Updated to add a note on MSG. Lucky Dragon does use MSG in their food, so if you are a migraineur triggered by MSG or are sensitive to it for whatever reason, make sure you ask them to NOT use MSG in the food you order! Another thing to keep in mind is that they marinate the beef they use in a fair amount of MSG, then add MSG to whatever dish when they cook it so you might want to pass on the beef if you're sensitive to MSG. Don't get me wrong, Lucky Dragon is still my favorite Chinese restaurant ever, anywhere, and the food is wonderful otherwise! Believe me, I'm as picky as they come and I've been eating here for over 20 years now and would definitely stop if the quality of their food changed for the negative. Solid Chinese food.... we got the broccoli beef and kung pao chicken. My big complaint with most Chinese food places is that the beef is tough and the broccoli is a gray mass of goo. Neither was the case, here. We did takeout, and my hubby picked it up. He labeled it as "your grandparents' Chinese place. He said there was an OG MIss pacman game there, that was not plugged in, and the red carpet was more grey. Regardless, this was a good meal. Amazing food for a good price (which is hard to find nowdays). The staff is very friendly. They have awesome combination meals here too (if you're wanting to try a variety of things for a good deal). First time we went we bought the family combination meal and there was so much food that we even had left overs.
