We've been a long time customer and our relationship started off well - technicians were prompt and, generally, pleasant (with one exception) but they never actually did much work and never solved our heating issue. We've asked them repeatedly to send someone to our home who can actually fix a problem. The technicians and the office didn't seem really all that interested in problem solving or hearing our concerns. They were more concerned with punching a service ticket, going through the motions, getting paid, and leaving asap. Now we're having issues - it was 10 degrees this morning and the issue was supposed to be addressed during their last visit in December. It was not fixed. Of course, we'd like system checked and serviced now as the tundra settles on NY. But they told us, 'Unfortunately we are no longer working at your home. The last few visits you have expressed disappointment with our job.. We feel is best you get another company. We wish you the best.' So take that as a one star effort and they get a one star review. If I were you I would, as they suggested to my wife, find a more reliable company to protect your family. read more

The only reason I give it four stars is because of the technician Gardner, who was professional, respectful, hones, had integrity! Explained everything regarding the central air conditioning unit, the problem and what it needed. The company MIC charged over $1200., showing an invoice with $884.35 for a contactor 30/40 amp. and $256.19 replaced dual run capacitor 35/5- 370 vac., total $1,241,76. I looked up the parts, don't even cost $50. this cost included tax and labor, too steep. read more

For AC and boiler repairs and maintenance, these folks have been reliable and readily available.

They had no idea what they were doing. They changed parts on my boiler and were at my home for 8 hours. After they left, my boiler turned off again that same night. When they returned, I told them that my daughter hit some wires in my hallway then the boiler shut off and they finally figured out it was a faulty wire from thermostat to boiler. They wanted to charge me an additional $800 to repair a simple wire after I paid $700 for work that was not needed. I have canceled my maintenance plan with them and will NEVER use this company again. GO ELSEWHERE for yoyr repairs! You've been warned. They woyld rather me contact them for resolution instead of leaving this feedback because they do not want anyone to know how bad their service is. read more

I have a yearly maintenance contract with Maximum and before summer and winter they check my heating and cooling system to make sure everything is okay. It is easy to get an appointment with them and their technicians are great. Maximum sends messages on the day of appointment to advise the name of the technician to expect and the approximate time. The technician will also advise you when he is actually arriving. They are courteous, put on their shoe covers before entering the house and leave the work area very clean and tidy. I will highly recommend Maximum. They have been servicing my system for many years now. read more

Had some water on the floor near my AC unit. They told me they would send someone out and it would cost $165 just for them to come and see what the problem was. Nice technician showed up, and examined my two AC units and determined that there was a crack in my drip pan. He told me it would cost anywhere from $1-2k to replace, but since the air handler is so old I would need to replace the whole thing for $8k. Since we were replacing that it probably made sense to replace the condenser as well bringing the total to $10k...each. When I quickly googled cost to replace a drain pan, I found that the average cost would be anywhere from $250-575. When I asked if they can repair the drain pan, the answer was "no" because the company wouldn't want to have any warranty on it. Clearly this company and the technician are trying to upsell a brand new system over repairing the current one in there. read more

Serviceman did an extremely thorough inspection, emailed a full report to me immediately afterwards, with photos of the failed part. Do not call this place. They charged me $165 for diagnostic the problem (AC was not blowing cold air) and found that I need a Dual Capacitor. They wanted $660 for it, I bought it on Amazon for $16 and took me 10 min to replace. WOW that is %4400 profit, that is disgusting and greed. I will contact the better business bureau and will make sure to email a photo them their quote and a photo of how much I paid for the capacitor. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I never had an issue with my AC unit. I had a routine Maintenence few days later a flood in my basement from unit. They come to check it out n tell me my primary drain pan is cracked. A 175 piece and it's 3600 to replace coil and pan. Then The guy cracked my abs piping n water began to gush out from that. He refused to fix and called boss n left. Boss called and said whether he broke both parts or one part I still Have to pay he would only now charge 3500. He then refused to come back out to replace pipe his worker cracked and hung up on me. Then I call back n he states he doesn't want my business imagine that. Now I'm scrambling to get someone to fix the mess they made. I will never service again. If it's not broken don't fix it literally. read more

I've used MIC a few times over the years and this time was very disappointing. My boiler had a leak on 12/13 and it was fixed on 12/14 for a hefty price tag of $1624.15. With that amount of money spent and a "Gold Membership," I thought I wouldn't have any issues for at least a year. My boiler began to leak again today and when I called, I was told that the technicians are all booked tonight and no one could come until 8am. I thought this was a 24/7 operation. When I went back to read my "Gold Membership" it said that members get priority service in emergencies. Sounds like an emergency to me and I was absolutely not given priority. Very unfortunate and disappointing. Won't be using them again and definitely canceled membership. read more

Better still, they were able to install a week later and helped me line up an electrician to add the needed capacity. It was a great experience overall. Seriously, I thought I found an HVAC company that was honest and reliable, but after dealing with management, they are horrendous. Here's my experience with this company: The HVAC tech was actually very friendly and helpful. However, he messed up by putting tape that was not designed for high temperatures on my furnace. After a day or so, the glue from the tape began to burn onto the flue piping of the unit, and then (because it is a forced air system) was circulated around the house. They came back a few times to find out what the smell was, and when we figured out it was definitely the tape, the only solution the "service manager" offered was a cheap air freshener to mask the toxic smell. Afterwards, the company was very difficult to reach(answering service even during the day...) so I left one negative review on another website. Finally the company got in touch with me to possibly resolve the situation, but I quickly heard back from this same service manager who informed me that their "company policy" is to never work with customers who leave bad reviews(even though the review was left BEFORE they even offered any help...), and therefore they cannot "fix" the damage they caused to my furnace. Very professional right? So this will continue to be a string of negative reviews I'm posting about this incident, and they will probably hear from me via small claims if nothing is settled. read more

He tried to sell a contactor relay switch, installed (parts & labor) for $405 + tax. I said I'd think about it and 30 seconds after he left (in this this age of Google) I see the part cost $15, sometimes less, I'd no idea whether the part truly needed replacement but I shopped the job around and find a local independent guy to do it for $80 (parts, labor, tax included). The swap out takes 20 minutes or so. The local guy shows me the old contactor relay and we both agree it looks almost new and the contacts for the wire connections were perfect. In 2015, another technician arrived and performed all the same basic spring maintenance for a central A/C unit for (what was now) a $69 coupon. He was here about 2 1/2 hours and did a write-up saying we had "zero PSI". He was correct but what he didn't say is he caused the problem. The write-up he left wanted $650 to "fix" the problem (i.e., the leak causing the refrigerant to drain). We'd never had any such problem before but who knows what might happen over the winter, right? So, learning not to trust their diagnoses (from my experience last year), I bring back the local guy (unaffiliated with MIC) who performed the leak test. He applies the pressurized nitrogen everywhere, liquid soap, the whole nine yards. What he finds is a fresh hole (not an old or rusted one) in the evaporator where MIC's guy screwed the panel back onto the attic portion of our central air unit. To be sure, my local guy said it was probably not intentional; the evaporator is very close behind the panel and if you screw the panel back on too tightly, that can happen. It's not even clear that Jamie knew what he had done as it's conventional to do the pressure test last (otherwise he would have found the pressure to be fine, pre-puncture). My local guy charged $280 (not $650) to find and fix it. And another $160 [4 lbs. of R-22@$40/lb.], not the $250 MIC would have charged. A $69 coupon is a great thing if it doesn't wind up costing $500 (to my local guy) or $900 (had I used MIC) to clean up MIC's mistakes. read more

Provider was contacted to perform a service purchased through Angie list. Failure to respond by the provider to several messages left with answering service resulted in the escalation to an emergency visit a week after initial contacts were ignored. Upon scheduling and with the added benefit of an emergency charge, the provider failed to show up for the scheduled appointment citing a call policy that was not communicated by phone and is not posted on their website. This failure to show resulted in lost business time on our part (oh yes that's right...the paying customer) requiring us to take additional time off the following day. The following day services were rendered and that evening the unit was still not functioning properly. Again, after several calls we were told that while the work was under warrant to and per ....you guessed it...another policy that is not referenced anywhere for public consumption...they won't do the work on the weekend. So, after leaving a message asking for a prompt return call which has not happened, I find myself completely disenchanted as I am now supposed to take another day off from my job to accommodate a service provider who didn't do the job right in the first place. Completely inflexible in scheduling through the entire process! read more

I would strongly recommend that you go elsewhere for HVAC service or installation. This company installed a high end HVAC unit in September 2014. We had several service calls since then because heating did not work (twice), the humidifier leaked (faulty installation) which damaged our floors and now our AC unit is not working (the condenser is done after 1 summer of use!). The manager was a nightmare to deal with and said she would blacklist me if I posted a negative review on Angie's list. The worse company I have ever dealt with. read more
