    Max's Fried Chicken
    Julian T.

Came here with my family on a Sunday afternoon for their Presidents' Day special which included maxs fried chicken, pancit bihon, kare kare, and a crispy pata for $88. We also ordered some garlic fried rice to go with it. All the food was very fresh and tasted great. Service was okay. It's nice to see the food has gotten better since my last visit. Love their occasional deals!

Awesome dine-in Filipino eats with great fried chicken. Went on a weekend for dinner with the fam. Had a few dishes - eggplant, fried chicken, pancit, sisig, and some stir fried veggies. Everything was on point and just how I remembered it the last time I had it years ago. Would def come back!

bangus sisig CRISPY after I air fried it bc it was too soggy...see my video to see the soggy sisig from Max's- not recommended

I don't know how to start this review :( ... I think bullet points is the way to go. * first time customer. * based on my order: fish and pork sisig ; not recommended unless you like soggy style sisig . Description of this dish being soggy would help customers not order if for those who expect crispy sisig ! * food is getting re cooked by me as I write this review . Hoping it will crisp up. * save your time and money * I couldn't even finish cooking because the smell that came from the pork sisig as it was cooking was incredibly unpleasant . * bangus sisig : see my video - I placed this one in the air fryer so both my meals could finish cooking at the same time. However , I threw the pork sisig away without even tasting due to smell and threw out the fish sisig as well due to its oiliness . White Rice : seemed old cooked rice and is extra. 7dlls for 3 scoops. They also sell 5 scoops . plate merits a side of rice included in the price IMHO. Sadly this was my first and last time at this place.

Mostly noodles with very little sahog--flavor's okay, but portions don't justify the price. Pancit Bihon (Rice Noodle)
    Edrick G.

Ordered the pancit for delivery and was disappointed. The flavor was average at best, and the sahog was severely lacking--mostly noodles with very few pieces of shrimp or meat. For the price, this felt more like plain noodles than a complete dish. It was filling, but not satisfying, and doesn't reflect the quality I expect from Max's. Unlikely to reorder unless portions and balance improve.

Loved the good!!! The workers was so nice he was doing it all. Sat us down, took our order, brought it out and checked on me frequently. First time having Filipino food and it did not disappoint. I probably ordered too much food either way. It's a shopping plaza so plenty of parking. Plenty of tables to sit and good for big groups. Will be back!

Review #37 of 2024 October 13th visit. Thanks to our amazing server Trixie for the warm and accommodating experience. We arrived right as they were opening and she let us in. She was extremely cordial and accommodating. Definitely recommend asking for her if she's available. Met with some relatives that flew in from overseas. karekare, fried chicken, bulalo, pancit, so much great food and not enough time to eat it all. As always Maxs always hits the spot whether you're overseas, Hawaii, vegas, and in this case Chula Vista. Drop on by if you're in the area. Service and food are on point!

    Max set up.

Big thanks to the whole team at Max Fried Chicken Chula Vista side for making my children grad party so special. The space was perfect for a celebration for the family. They helped us set up a little area for cake and photos, which was such a nice touch. The staff were super friendly and made sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Kuddos to Trixie! Always checking in, making sure we had what we needed, and keeping the good vibes going. The food! So good. My favorite dish is the kare kare- meat is tender and the sauce is rich, creamy, slightly sweet and savory peanut flavor. Highly recommend for any kind of celebration.

    Pansit Canton

Decided to eat lunch in the Eastlake area after our Saturday errand vice driving to National City. Pansit Canton (Egg Noodles) - right balance of seasonings and amount of toppings. Noodles were perfectly cooked on my liking. Pork Sinigang ( Pork Tamarind Soup) - disappointed, it lacks the sourness that the dish was known for. The more sour the better especially during cold weather. Fried Chicken - still "Sarap-to-the-Bones" The best spot if you're looking for that Filipino style fried chicken. Crispy skin, tender and tasty chicken! Greeted by staff upon entering. There were three groups, 15 total customers at the time; quick service, had our dishes ready in 15 mins. No issues with parking.

Pancit, lumpia, fried chicken and chop suey for dinner with friends :-)
    Cynthia R.

A friend and his wife met me here for dinner. They wanted to try a Filipino cuisine so I chose this place. Very nice service and good food. Their fried chicken was my favorite. We also ordered pancit, chop suey, and lumpia. The lumpia was okay. (I prefer lumpia's not be cut into 1/2 or 1/3s and just make them normal size, 6" or so).

My go-tos…read morefor Filipino food for sure in San Diego are a certain place in Nat'l City that has a "Kitchenette" and Jochi. As far as Jochi I've never been disappointed with their food. Everything has always been delicious. I think the key to a Filipino joint is the turnaround of food. Usually there's a line of people waiting to get their food so the cooks are always churning out freshly cooked food. The key is to not have the food just sitting for a long time and that is the case at Jochi. For this recent trip I got a plate that includes either rice or pancit and 2 items. I got half and half of rice and pancit an pinakbet as my 1st item and sisig as my 2nd. Both the pinakbet and sisig here have always been some of my favorites. Both are full of flavor and never disappoint. Also, Jochi's portions are always huge! This day I ate at the restaurant and for sure I had leftovers. I almost forgot to mention that I asked for a complimentary sabow (soup). It's the soup from their sinigang. As they ladle the soup into the container they sometimes (usually) includes chunks of pork which is very much appreciated. Jochi will always have a customer in me. Also, whenever I need a bunch of anything for a party like lumpia, empanadas, pancit, sisig, or anything else I always go to Jochi.

And most of the ones I have tried does not compare to moms cooking. Because of mom's health she no longer cooks.... Husband was so kind listening to my food cravings and doing research, he found this place. First, this place is located in strip mall mostly made of food stops. Secondly and importantly, the parking is no joke! Come early and watch where you park. The parking is not plenty and the area is narrow, making it a challenge to see when pulling in or out of a parking space. When you get out of your car your sensory will be on overload on the aromas that seem to hook you by the nostrils! You walk in the restaurant and you will see the tables most likely all taken. How it works is you walk up to food counter and select what items you want. They offer different platter options. It was a lot going on up the food menu on the wall above the staff. Behind the counter it is well staffed so even though the line may be long it moves pretty quickly. Husband and I decided to go with a two item platter. My platter I choose half and half (rice and noodles) . My two items were chicken adobo and diniguan. We got an order of lumpia too. I found the chicken adobo to be pretty good! The chicken portion was pretty good. With chicken adobo there seems never to be enough of the sauce to saturate the rice. The diniguan to my surprise passed the test! It was tasty and had the right balance of flavors! I saved half to share with mom and she liked just as well. A plus for us is they serve seltzer (soda water)! They do have a self serve water station off to the side. The lumpia was good, but I probably would try one of the skewers next time. I forgot to mention that we had to ask to share a space at a table with another couple as there were no more open tables. They gladly shared. There are not outdoor seating. I would definitely visit this spot again.

Despite the restaurant not being as clean or well-maintained as one might expect, many customers, including myself, keep coming back because the food has traditionally been worth it. However, my last two visits have been disappointing. Since I now live more than an hour away, I don't get to visit often, so it's frustrating to make the drive only to find that some of the dishes I specifically came for--such as kalderetang kambing and sisig--were unavailable both times. What made the experience even more disappointing was the wait. The line was long, the weather was hot and sunny, and yet it barely seemed to move. It felt like the staff were in no hurry despite the number of customers waiting outside. I understand that food service can be busy and challenging, but the pace of service was frustratingly slow. The food is still good, and the portions remain generous, but between the limited availability of popular dishes and the lengthy wait times, my recent visits left me wondering whether the trip was worth it. I hope they can improve their inventory planning and speed of service because the restaurant definitely has the potential to provide a much better customer experience.

The pancake was good, however i felt it could have used a macapuno syrup or something coconutty to complement the ube. The drizzle they put on it was good and i asked for extra and it boosted the flavor. This can probably feed 4-5 people depending on how hungry you are. Mexipino sandwich - this was good enough to split. I loved the savory and sweetness and saltiness. All the flavors complimented one another and i did a happy food dance. Calamansi mint drink - it was just ok for me. Reminds me of the calamansi drink from the pouches and they just added mint. It was too sweet for me so i probably wouldn't order again. I really liked the bangus, they fried it and it's big and so fatty which I love but the only thing was, they don't have tomatoes that should go with it.
