Ketsup for chicken but does not taste good
    Liza A.

I am disappointed with the ketsup. Its blunt and sour. Pls bring back the jufran. We only come here for the fried chicken and the ketsup says banana? It is not!

I've been dining here for the last decade although it's a 45 minute drive since the atmosphere brings a nostalgic feeling. We've ordered fried chicken but it tasted dry than usual, pancit was great but not a lot of vegetables and sizzling pork sisig which was not served sizzling and full of fat rather than meat. Service was slow too and nobody offered a water refills. Max's glendale was a hit before but not on my recent visit, so dissapointed and will be hesitant to bring back friends and family.

If you're craving Filipino comfort food, Max's Restaurant still delivers that nostalgic "home cooked family gathering" vibe. Their famous fried chicken remains a classic crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and best paired with banana ketchup and rice. Dishes like kare-kare, pancit canton, lumpiang shanghai, and sisig continue to hit the spot for us , and the atmosphere still feels warm and familiar for family style dining. The halo-halo is my favorite! It's this dessert that has all these jellies with mung beans and ube ice cream. It literally means "mix-mix" in Tagalog. I enjoy going to Max's in an hour because it reminds me of the Philippines. There's not a lot of Max in Manila restaurants the US and one the main places family from out of town love going to. They usually end up wanting to come here. Deducting one star because service is a bit or miss and the downside is the pricing.

We had a magnificent and memorable time celebrating my godmother's surprise 70th birthday party inside the private room at Max's Restaurant in Glendale. The staff and Tita Maria (owner/manager) provided excellent customer care and service from the time of booking and choosing the food items and menu for the dinner buffet and reserving the dinner buffet party up until the very end of the surprise birthday party. The private room was nicely decorated and set up for our birthday celebrant and guests. Max's staff even had a monitor set up to show videos and slides during the party. We even had music playing and the emcee hosting the celebration. Tita Maria we call her is the one that was the emcee during the celebration. She was also the event planner and menu planner at Max's. For the buffet, the food items served were, Crispy Pata, Kare-Kare, Sinigang, Max's Chicken, Lumpia, Pancit, white rice, Gulaman and Sago, Calamansi juice, Buko Pandan to name a few. They even provided to go boxes for all the left overs so the guests can take home the food. This is the 3rd time our family and relatives reserved a celebration at Max's Restaurant in Glendale and they always delivered with excellent customer service and delicious food. Thank you Tita Maria and Max's Restaurant in Glendale. See you guys again for the next celebration.

They have a parking lot, but its valet. $5 is the cost and theyre pretty fast. The host greeted us and we were sat within 10 minutes of our party's arrival. It is a family style restaurant and the ambiance was casual and very homey. The food was delicious! We were a party of 5 and we still had some left over food at the end. We got their signature fried chicken. It was moist, and it had the right amount of crisp on the skin. We got an order of their appetizer of lumpia and they were delicious. Small enough where you dont get full, but dangerous if you dont keep track of how many you ate. We also got the kara-kara (i may have spelled it wrong) but it felt like a home made meal. Their rice was nice and fluffy, just the way I like it. We also got an order of the glass noodles and that was by far my favorite dish of the evening! The server was extremely nice and checked on us every so often. The restroom was nice too! Can't believe this was in glendale this whole time. It was also a restaurant that my friend had on his list that he's been wanting to try. We will definitely be back.

I didn't go inside since our friend got it for takeout!! so yummy that my friend's pupper begged for some too :)

I went here on Tuesday Jan 29 with my parents and uncle. We ordered kare kare and bangus sisig. Kare kare was amazing, the sauce was well-made and creamy. I've never tried bangus sisig before and I enjoyed it. Not that fatty compared to pork and beef sisig. We ordered more but they're not pictured. Service was great. The waitress asked us how we were doing often and got us napkins since we only had a cloth that held our utensils. Ambiance was nice, it was well lit. Music was playing, there were covers of different songs by I'm assuming Filipino and Filipina singers.

I loveeee Max's! It's one of my favorite Filipino restaurants to go to whenever I visit this area. The service is good and fast. There's always a good amount of people there having a good time. My favorites: the chicken, cooked to perfection, the sinigang baboy - perfect amount of sour, and the Sago 't Gulaman is sooo delicious.

(Half) fried chicken , lechon kawali Sisig, lumpia , pancit , and garlic rice
    Maile Y.

Feeling like im trying Max's again for the first time (haven't been since I was too little of a girl to remember), and obviously had to try the classics. The lechon kawali sisig (especially paired with the garlic rice) was SOOOO good. I want to say it's my favorite thing I ate but so was practically everything else. Lumpia was also delicious (I could eat multiple servings if I wanted too lol)! Also got a chance to try the calamansi juice. I will say it was very good but it is on the sweeter side so just be mindful. Staff was very sweet (very funny too when we tried not to get rice at first for attempted diet and he thought we were crazy Filipinos lol). The place itself in terms of ambiance was chill. It almost reminded be like a pancake house in a way I don't know why, but very chill area. Good parking around the area too. Salamat !!!

Good food and brings you back home. Restaurant is clean and service is great. Jason & Adrian were friendly and attentive. Parking is valet only with $5 service charge. Recommend for those who wants to try Filipino food.

    Burned pork knuckles (Crispy Pata).
    Arvin A.

We ordered Crispy Pata "to go" but were very disappointed when we got home. As everyone can see from the photos I posted, we got a burned food. What happened with their quality control nowadays? Obviously it's charred and most likely cooked with old used oil. Called them at once to inform them but their Supervisor Ramir Cruz asked us if we can go back and they would replace it. But it took us 30 minutes of driving and with the gas prices right now! He suggested to give us a credit but with the kind of food quality they have now, I don't think we will come back anymore.

Sour Pork Sisig - taste like soaked in vinegar and inedible.
    Valentine V.

Valet parking only. On a Monday night, the wait was short, which was a plus, but unfortunately the food was a big letdown. The pancit canton was rubbery and tasted overcooked. The pork sisig was worse,it had an oddly sour flavor, like chopped pork soaked in vinegar. It didn't taste right at all. I'm not picky with food, but this was hard to finish. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend this place.

Was craving filipino food so we decided to go to Max's for dinner. Haven't been here in years and really like how they renovated! The space is more modern and clean. Staff was nice and attentive. They offer valet parking for $5 which I wish it was free self parking so you could probably just park across the street at the galleria and walk over. The sinigang was perfectly sour. Fried chicken still as good as I remembered and thankfully they still had banana ketchup lol. I wish i got the regular pork sisig because the lechon kawali sisig didn't really hit. The sauce was a little too sweet for my liking. Overall I would probably come back!

Renovations are done. Restrooms are now located by dining area instead of by the reception/waiting area in front.

(My husband had the steak and mushroom penne, friends had the Chimchurri steak and the wedge salad) The negatives: I had the shrimp risotto and found it blah. The serving was very small - i feel like American portions are often obscenely large (and don't like that), but this was much smaller than average and I was still hungry after eating it. The flavor was ok, but nothing to write home about. And the shrimp were very small - what my husband and I call "bait" shrimp. Not the large shrimp you usually get at a nice restaurant. Since i was still hungry, I ordered a cobbler. It was fine, but not great. Texture was a bit strange - not traditional. Probably won't come back. The food is just not that interesting. It's like the kind of food you'd eat at a Midwestern buffet restaurant.

Sweet Demi Lune Bakery & Café…read more Sweet Demi Lune Bakery & Café reminded me that we live for the wonderful experiences that remain to be discovered. After a wonderful lunch date with my wife at Raffi's Place (please read my review and thank me later) in Glendale, I decided to look for the perfect dessert. After scouting several nearby locations, I decided I was in the mood for a great cinnamon roll. Sweet Demi Lune Bakery & Café looked like the place that would deliver the experience I was seeking. SDLBC is listed as being in Glendale, but it's located in the historic Old Town of Montrose. That's beside the point; I only mention it because there are additional places to explore just up the street. We arrived around 3:00 p.m. on a Saturday, and there wasn't much of a selection left, including the highly sought-after cinnamon roll. The gentleman behind the counter greeted us warmly, and I immediately asked if that was all the pastries they had. He said yes. I contemplated leaving because of the nonexistent cinnamon roll, but I didn't want to be rude, so I decided to give the bakery a try since we were already there. So, we basically took half of what remained behind the glass display case: a Peach Almond Croissant, a Raspberry Pistachio Croissant, an Almond Croissant, and then my curiosity focused on a few lonely-looking pastries that were unfamiliar to my discerning eyes. I asked the gentleman what they were, and he replied with something that sounded completely foreign to me: Kouign-Amann. Kouign-Amann (pronounced queen ah-MAHN) is a traditional pastry from the region of Brittany, France. It is often considered one of the richest pastries in the world because it is made with just a few simple ingredients in generous proportions: bread dough, butter, and sugar. Figuring we needed a few more sweets for the road, we took all the remaining Kouign-Amanns. Two were the traditional version, and the other two were filled with crème and blueberry jam. We also ordered a Café Americano and a Café Mocha. While we waited for our drinks, I simply couldn't wait any longer. Like a kid on Christmas morning, I eagerly opened my gift and dug right into the Kouign-Amann. Hesitantly, I tore off a tiny piece with my fingers, expecting nothing extraordinary, and instantly gave birth to a brand-new experience that exploded in my mouth. The crisp exterior gave way to the soft, flaky center, followed by waves of what tasted like delicate honey. I tore off another piece and shared it with my wife. One look at her eyes told me she wanted more. By the time our drinks were ready, we had devoured one of the Kouign-Amanns and confessed to the gentleman behind the counter that we had just experienced pure ecstasy in the form of a pastry. Kouign-Amann is, in fact, one of the richest pastries in the world, so don't let the unfamiliar name keep you from trying one. The Café Americano and the Café Mocha were also exceptionally well prepared. With everything that's happening in the world these days, a simple yet profound experience like this reminded me how wonderful life can still be. Like Arnold said... "I'll be back." Enjoy!

We thought he was a new employee because he had no clue what he was doing. He had NO personality no interest in general. When he first came to our table he didn't say hello or offer us appetizers or a cocktail. He asked for our dinner order. We ordered the fajita quesadilla and a combo plate. Daniel brought me the wrong taco; the taco was mostly lettuce and cheese very little meat ~ I was surprised because when I ordered this in the past it was excellent and done right (Not his fault tho he did write down my taco order incorrectly). He never came back to our table to check on us. When we were done we asked for a box because we had a lot of food left. He looked at it and brought us a tiny box. What was he thinking?? We asked the bus boy for another and he brought us the correct size. It was hard to get Daniels attention; we tried a few times to flag him down but he wasn't looking at us. We watched him a few different times throughout our time there, to see how he was with the other tables. We came to the conclusion that he looked like a fish out of water. Maybe he was overwhelmed even though the restaurant was a little more than half full last night at 5:30. Then he brought us our check while we were still eating! I told him I wanted to order dessert. Again, he had no clue what he was doing. I suggest the management take a look at this review and address this issue with him. Our experiences here have always been great, been coming for years. We love this place but we would never have Daniel as our server again.
