I've just now left and it really is a pity... And, as a disclaimer, I will concede that my expectations were low -- top notch service is not what I expect from a restaurant whose stance on serving plates is as stubborn and unwilling as my mother. To be clear, we were not given any plates to eat on. In the midst of coronavirus, I was asked to eat off of a table with a sheet of paper as my plate. This striking absence of an eating surface, however, was not the coup de nauseance of the evening. What truly made me sicker than gas station sushi was when the staff refused to serve my Puerto Rican friend. Once more: the staff refused to serve my Puerto Rican friend. The waitress, and then the manager, insisted that my card-carrying, tax-paying friend was not a US citizen and was, by the laws of the state of Utah, disallowed from ordering. Of course, even an elementary schooler's perusal of the United States legal code could discern the SHEER amount of cap that this woman was spewing. My friend was denied service by racist staff because of his ethnicity. They didn't like him...because of the color of his skin. We just got take out from here and had an awful experience! The pizza was cold when we picked it up... like uncooked pizza it was so cold. And the flavors were awful. We had a big group and ordered three big pizzas and each pizza got worse after the next one. Also, they didn't even include all of the toppings listed on the pizzas. And were super skimpy on the toppings that were there. I have heard great things about this place, but it did not live up to the expectation. Way way way overpriced for what we got. This is our third time back vacationing from Boise, ID and Maxwell's was on our "must have" dinner list. We were so incredibly disappointed to see that COVID has done damage here. I'm hoping that things will be back to rocking and normal next time we were in town, as the previous two visits were 5-star, but this time was less than stellar. Zero wait and our poor waiter was the only one manning outside with 5 tables, and probably more inside. You could tell he was exhausted. While he did his best, it took 50+ minutes to get our food (salad took close to 30 min...it was a bit odd). With two kids, that 50 minutes felt like 2 hours. The menu was extremely pared down and limited. Our favorites were gone. When our food did come out, my chicken philly and fries were cold. All still tasty, but cold food is never great. Wife's chicken parm was solid and their spaghetti was great. Kids enjoyed their cheese pizza (which came out a full 20 min before everyone else's food...all over the place) and chick parm kid's meal was large portion. The food brought us back. The service kept us away for a return visit this trip (we always ate there multiple times). We'll give it another shot next time we're in town and we're rooting for them to bounce back quickly. Stopped in our first night in town. The place was busy but we were promptly seated and attended to by the waiter. We ordered pizza and I was surprised how quickly it came out. There was a nice selection of beers to accompany the pizza. Good food and good fun was had by all. read more

Craving pizza? Yes this is the place but do yourself a favor and order take out. I am not rude, needy, or mean yet I still find myself getting the worst service here. I came back and I was SO excited for the 20 inch pizzas and our server was John. John had little patience from the minute we sat down. He was rude when I asked for a plate to eat my pizza on. His actual reply was "...You can't use this...paper? Hmmmm ok. " I apologize if I enjoy eating on a plate rather than paper (which I find wasteful) but you can honestly keep your opinion/comment to yourself. After that we never saw him again. He did not come by once to refill our waters rather bus boys and other servers did. John moved on to his other tables because we apparently weren't good enough for him. You can try and impress us with your service but we know, nobody in their right mind can be expected to remember everything! So it becomes insulting when staff doesn't write it down. Maxwell's pizza and wings come correct. Their plain cheese za is reminiscent of a solid order-by-the-slice NYC shop. A lot of times that's exactly what I want. The wings have an addictive level of vinegar in the sauce. I'd gone for a ride before taking out from Maxwell's and went to take a quick shower after eating. My first time here. The menu said they had specialty philly sandwiches so I had to order one. I got the chicken philly with American white cheese and mushrooms. It came with a house salad. My friend got a beef philly with the works and fries. The salad was fresh and the blue cheese dressing was very yummy. My philly had good flavor and the mushrooms were fresh (not canned). It would have been nice to have some kind of sauce besides the cheese on the sandwich but I still enjoyed it. I tried the fries and they were crispy with a crunchy outer coating of some kind that reminded me of another fast food joint that I liked. Service was prompt and they were good about refilling my iced tea regularly. Parking is a bit challenging especially if it was the dinner rush. The salad arrived & we had to ask the food runner for share plates since Sarah was no where in sight. The entree & slices came while we were eating the salad. We finished the salad & went to enjoy the rest of our food, but had no plates, napkins, etc to use. Still no sign of Sarah. We had to flag down the patio server since Sarah was now at the bar talking with what appeared to be a friend. He brought over everything we needed & we enjoyed our now cold dinner. Almost finished with our dinner, Sarah finally shows up! This was the first time during our entire meal that we had been attended by the server. We told her exactly how we felt & Sarah asked if we wanted her to get the manager for a discount. I told Sarah that we did not want a discount, we just wanted proper service. After listening to excuses, she left & came back to drop our check. No offer of any dessert or anything else. We did end up asking to speak with the manager, Lawrence. I wish I could write nice things about Maxwells. They do have good pizza but unfortunately, like most people on here, our delivery experiences have been awful. They never seem to take your order right...tonight they marked us for pickup instead of delivery. 90 minutes later we still don't have our food, and I am positive that like always it will show up cold. I really wish this place could get it together, but they seem to know they are one of the only delivery games in town and not care about their customers.
