We had dinner down the way but decided to leave dessert or the 'next round' to this popular Old North End hotspot. Little did we know we were coming in on a fundraiser night... happy to contribute but was not the usual vibe. I got the Judith Beck "Ink" -a very drinkable red Austrian wine at $13/glass. My husband got a margarita sans salt. Kudos to the bartender for pouring a taste for me to confirm my choice before before making me commit. EXCELLENT service. Did I mentioned that as soon as I sat down at the bar, I was greeted with a very tall glass of ice water!? Yep! THAT, folks, is the difference between meh service and GREAT service - attention to detail!

We went for dinner on a Saturday wintery night. The place was packed, well lit (med./warm lights throughout dining room). We ordered the gem lettuce salad, honey glazed turnips and the steak frites (steak cooked medium rare) which came with homemade a1 sauce on perfectly cooked meat. The whole meal was a treat and our experience with the service staff was too notch. Greeted immediately upon entry with a warm smile and looking to help us get seated. Recommend the ambiance, service and memorable meal that May Day has to offer! Don't miss out! Sincerely a food loving local

What a magnificent end to my first visit to Burlington! I had been staying in an Airbnb in Old North End and was super pleased with all the restaurant options in the neighborhood. For my final night in Burlington, I decided to treat myself to a nice meal at May Day! Just a short walk from my Airbnb, I arrived to a beautifully decorated restaurant, front windows open, lots of space. I sat at the bar like I usually do for solo dining, and had a great time chatting with the bartender during my meal. He helped me pick a few yummy drinks as well. The menu is small, which I love - but everything sounded so delicious it was still hard to choose! Decided to go all in and get the steak frites! The plate was massive and the dish was plated beautifully. And THOSE GARLIC SCAPES!!! SWOOOOOOOOOOON!!! Everything about this dish was perfect. The steak was cooked to perfection, and so were the fries. And as a huge garlic lover, the garlic scapes were seriously incredible. If you want to treat yourself to a fantastic meal in Burlington, you def need to check this spot out!

Love the vibe. The atmosphere is mellow and chill. We got there before the crowd came in, I do think they raise the volume on the music as more people come in but it wasn't overwhelming. The food was so good. The attention to detail and the staff have quality as a high importance. I would definitely come back and have some fun drinks and food again

I was up here for a work conference, with a few colleagues, and my first time in Vermont and at May Day. The waiter was very helpful with suggesting food for us. I was really happy with how the food was plated and definitely very delicious. My steak came out with blue cheese, which I didn't order, but the waiter quickly came and fixed that up for me. The place was small. The food was great. Definitely want to eat here again. Great staff. Make a reservation for a larger group.

My boyfriend and I spent the weekend in Burlington and found May Day through Yelp reviews and are so glad we did! We enjoyed the ambience, attentive service and delicious food. The steak tartare, ham and cheese tartine, steak frites, olive oil cake and homemade ice cream were all the best we've ever had. I have never felt so comfortable and happy at a restaurant. Highly recommend.

We made a resy here and good thing we did cause it was packed! We started off with the deviled eggs as an app and they were a great way to start. For our entrees, we got the gnocchi and the steak frites. We really enjoyed both and the French fries were nice and crispy! Steak was cooked perfectly. Service was excellent as well!

May Day keeps the menu fresh and the cocktails are amazing. Kindest staff in all of Burlington. A gem in the Old North End.

The last time my bf and I went we ordered a special which was Dan Dan noodles with pork, the cheeseburger, and burrata with bruschetta to start. All of the food was full of flavor and fair portion size. Restaurant poco does not take reservations in advance. It's easier to get a seat in spring summer or fall when they open up their outdoor seating and so can host more guests. You have to go to put your name on the wait list regardless of the season and even in summertime with more seating it can be a 20-40min wait. They play good funky music which can sometimes be overwhelmingly loud inside (I.e. a jock jam will be playing at club volume level), that's one of my few complaints. You can be at a two person table and only a few feet away from your dinner date but not always hear them. This happens mostly just during the winter. Outdoor seating is nice with outdoor lights and easy to see and hear whomever you're dining with. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone as they always have great tasting food and good drinks. A little on the pricier side, but worth it.

Not the largest in quantity, but the tastiest. Pork Bolognese ($19) came with hand rolled pasta in a creamy tomato sauce with ground pork. Tuna tataki ($17) was a bit disappointing, sesame crusted and seared but extremely salty. Small plates, not the largest portions, but very cozy spot with friendly staff. Overall, not a bad choice for Burlington. Prices as expected compared to other spots in the area.
