Came to my home in southern Georgia as requested for American Home Shield for due to the heat not working and the thermostat being blank. The gave a horrible diagnosis of parts missing (the p-trap being missing which it isn't) a part that has nothing to do with the heating my home. This was due either to incompetence or intentionally to get more money out of me for the repairs. After back and forth AHS sent out another company Cold Snap Heating and Cooling that actually did the diagnosed the issue correctly and got us up and running in about thirty minutes. read more

American Home Shield sent these people to my house because my compressor was not working. They reported back to AHS that we needed modifications to bring it up to code for regulations that didn't apply to our unit at all. These regulations don't go into effect until 2025 and only apply to new units. we also checked with the company that installed the unit and they advised us that the Freon that they were going to put back into our unit would've destroyed it. I will never let them on my property again or touch my AC unit. personally I don't believe AHS has any quality vendors because AHS IS TOO DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH! read more

Unfortunately American Home Shield forced us to use this company. I did leave AHS a similar review. Hopefully they will do better in the future and contract with a more reliable company. I will give a thumbs up to the first technician out to work on the a/c. He was very polite and efficient. The frustration is with the company scheduling the installation of the part. We spoke with someone different every time, each time we were assured they had the correct contact number. We had to change from the original phone number due to that person having to be gone out of state (in a different time zone). Apparently the part came in, they called the original contact number (keep in mind, a time zone 1hr behind Georgia time And this person was working night shift, so sleeping during the day). They had called, left a message which wasn't received until 4:30 pm, which is 5:30pm georgia time. So the office is closed. Also there had been a call THAT DAY to May Heating to verify again, the contact number. No problem they said. We have that number right here. We tried to schedule online through the email, picking the next day. It was canceled a short time later by May Heating. When we finally got ahold of someone about getting the a/c fixed we were rudely met with the fact that their call had not been returned therefore we would have to wait another week for the repair. Firstly, they did not call the correct number which they had assured they had on file. Secondly, we had been making frequent calls to them to check on progress. It would seem as thought departments within the company do not communicate well with each other. There is only one phone number with a labyrinth of numbers to push before you actually get to talk to someone. Not the same person every time. A/c is still not fixed a week later, which could have been fixed 3 days ago. We are now looking at 2 weeks without a/c. We do have pets at home which have been just as miserable. Keep in mind this is summer in Southern Georgia. IT'S HOT AND HUMID. We've had to purchase a window air conditioner to get us through this mess with May Heating and Air. This company is a fraud, especially if you use them through your home warranty company (American Homeshield). AHS sent May out for a leaking evaporator coil. If I were to go through May for the repair, it would've cost $2,583 for parts and modifications the home warranty wouldn't cover. Some of these parts were marked up over 1,400%. May is trying to charge me $150 for two locking caps. These can be found on Amazon for $10, and even cheaper through a supply warehouse. $200 to modify ductwork (wasn't needed, my own contractor already did the repair). $120 for a line set (wasn't needed). $350 for mastic seal (wasn't needed). and $1,638 for 14 lbs of freon. My system doesn't even hold 14 lbs of freon. It holds 12 lbs + whatever is in the line (definitely not 2 lbs) So, May is attempting to charge me $2,583 and that doesn't even include what they're charging the home warranty company for the coil itself plus labor. My personal contractor did the entire job for $1,750. read more

1 star only because it's the lowest available. Service was requested through warranty. They sent a notification asking for preferred dates and times. They ignored all requested dates and times and set their own date and time with no contact with me for a week later. Then they sent a text notification with date and time. I had to call and reschedule the appointment because it conflicted with a Doctors Appt. I waited on hold for a half hour to reschedule the appointment for the next day. Then with no phone call to me they send me a text to cancel my second appointment date and push it five days further. Again I am not available for that date as I have to go out of town (plans were made almost a year prior with no cancellation refunds possible). I called them again and got a call back almost three hours later. They won't work with us to try and get to us prior and said we have to go through the warranty. The warranty tried to call them and got no answer or response. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. WORST COMPANY EVER and I haven't even had any service from them. read more

i live in P'cola Beach Fla where it's HOT this time of year. Our ac went out the last week in March. I called American Home Shield, our home warranty provider and reported the claim. They wouldn't let me use my HVAC vendor I had used for years but required me to use May Htg & air whom I'd never heard of. They are apparently headquartered somewhere near Atlanta, Ga with technicians all over the southeast who apparently work out of their trucks. It took them over a week to get someone out named Karlos. He determined that the system had frozen up and had to be replaced. Finally, a month later, the whole system was replaced on May 5th and it lasted approx a week until it went out. I called AHS and they had already closed the claim but we've got a brand new system that only lasted a week. They finally got May back out a week later and the tech named Michael checked it out including the condenser on the rook of our condo building and he comes back and tells me the system was low on refrigerant but he didn't have any with him and would have to come hack the next day. Who ever heard of an ac technician that didn't carry refrigerant with him?!?!?! He came back the next day and went up on the roof and came back a few minutes later and tells me the condenser had "blown up"!!! How could he not tell that the day before? Told me they would have to order a new condenser and he would get back to us when it came in. I didn't hear from them for over a week so I tried to call Michael and his voicemail box was full. He finally called back and said the new condenser wasn't in yet. Another week goes by and I get an email from May scheduling me for June 20th. The 19Th I get another email telling me I'm being rescheduled till the 25Th (yesterday). We had to be out of town yesterday and I immediately called May and they tell me the tech was sick and they were having to farm out his assignments to others. I told then I couldn't be home that day and I was pretty upset that we had been without ac in this heat for 3 months except for about a week and I wanted something done asap. They didn't come yesterday and I haven't heard from them since I talked to them on the 19th and we're still without ac. I just called AHS and they had once again closed the claim. I had to explain to them the whole story and the person I spoke with put me on hold while she tried to contact May for a status. I held for 20 minutes before she comes back and tells me she can't get in touch with May. She said she would call me back once she found out the status. So, here we are!!! Horrible. Sadly we didn't read reviews from other American home shield customers before they showed up. We have a trane unit that is 13 years old and have had work done on it through AHS three times prior, only issue we had was a company came out and saw it was a trane so they would have to send out a certified trane company. The guy comes out gives us a report that says "found it is out of coolant due to compressor being out because of blown power plug, will send report to AHS." My wife called two days later and was told they sent the report to AHS; she then called AHS and was told they hadn't sent it and that they would call. Well a few days go by and we get a message from AHS saying the claim is denied due to the findings of the tech. It seems that he added a lot to the report that was sent in to AHS. He added that the unit was to close to the foundation which caused the compressor to fail. This is strange bc it worked great with no issue for the first 11 years, was professionally installed, has had other techs come out for issues in the last two years and never mentioned it being close to the foundation. The kicker is; the unit is on the back side of the house with the only one side even close to a wall, the other 3 have over 10 feet of clearance (the side that only has 10 feet is due to a screened in setting area with no actual solid wall). Sounds like it matches other reviews in that May either doesn't want to do the work for AHS because of money, hopes we will pay them for out of pocket cost that aren't covered, or they are incompetent. AHS is sending out a company for a 2nd opinion. If this was an honest report I don't see why it is completely different from the report we received from the tech when he came out. I called back after it has been leaking into my attic and the "supervisor" just wanted to make jokes and give sarcastic replies. They immediately began putting the blame on other failed parts despite me having an independent HVAC tech come out for a second opinion of the evaporator coil being installed improperly and unlevel. American Home Warranty customers beware! This company has a call center receptionist who is rude without any education on how a home warranty works. She claimed they called my cellphone on Thursday to collect what they deemed to be out of pocket charges but there wasn't a missed call or a voice message left. When I informed her of this she demanded that I pay out of pocket for a return service call that two different agents from American Home Shield told me directly that AHS would pay. Even on the second call to the same receptionist moment after talking to AHS a third time she (the May's receptionist) blatantly kept talking over me, accused me of screaming at her when she apparently didn't have the ability to shut up long enough to hear and comprehend that MAY Heating and Air DOES NOT have the autonomy to charge anything directly to AHS customers without prior authorization. Frustrated l called AHS back and had a AHS agent call MAY Heating and Air back directly while I waited on hold. Apparently they gave the AHS agent attitude as well because after an extended hold time she stated she saw what I was saying to the point that my service request was immediately reassigned to a reputable local HVAC company free of charge. So thankful that before I could leave this review(with-in 30 minutes) the local HVAC company out of Pensacola, FL with a 4.9 star rating (that I had been reassigned) called and had me scheduled with-in 48 hours. read more

Parts finally came in towards the end of April. They keep rescheduling me for service. Today, I took off of work, stayed home. At 5 pm I call, they tell me that yeah, they can't come today, maybe next week. I'm out the pay for taking off of work, and I still don't have a working ac unit. The only reason this company is still in business has to be their contract with American Home Shield. May Heating & Air came out to do an evaluation of my AC unit that was not working under my American Home Shield home warranty. The technician did not remove any of the panels on the outside unit to check for leaks, but proclaimed there was a leak based solely on the lack of pressure in the line. He full well knew there was a leak in the coils on the heat pump itself which caused the reduction in the pressure. He also chose NOT to go up to check it at all, not once. He lied to the warranty company and told them additional items needed repair that, ironically, are not covered by the warranty and that I would have to pay out of pocket. I 100% believe he did that because they don't get paid a lot by the warranty company and wanted to make it up by basically stealing from me, the homeowner. I got a second opinion that confirmed there is absolutely nothing that needs repair on the outside unit. There are no leaks there. This company is a scammer! I rated May Heating & Air a one star because there was not a zero. They're rated a zero as they are unprofessional, horrible customer service and do not complete the work. Their Tech William arrived, quickly did a diagnostic and then proceeded to tell us that the coil was clogged, needed cleaning, and that it was something that American Home Sheild was not going to cover so he had to give us an estimate to do the work. Really??!! When my husband spoke to the technician the technician got aggravated because my husband was not agreeing with him and told him that we are not gonna pay any extra than what the American Home Shield was going to pay. The technician William said he was going to go ahead and leave then. Not only did he leave without completing the work, he did not clean up afterwards by not putting our AC unit filter back in place. We never experienced such poor service or attitude in technician as we did with this technician. It seems like May Heating & Air was trying to get paid twice from American Home Shield and then us. Where do I start with this company. This has to be the absolute WORST company I have ever dealt with. I have a home warranty with American Home Shield ( AHS) and May Heating was assigned to us. They installed a new furnace back in December and now we are into July and they still can't get it right. The NEW furnace leaks and water seeps under my new flooring. They have been out a total of 6 times and 1 time a no show. They schedule you a time to come out, my times have been 12-4pm. On 4 occasions 12-4 had come and gone. I got no call to say we are running behind....nothing the just pop in whenever. One time was at 6pm. No explanation as to why they were late. Another time they didn't bother to show up, when ask why they did not come as promised, they said oh, the part did not come in. How rude is that. You don't have the decency to let your customers know what's going on. The lady that answers the phone is clueless and rude. She told me when we give you a time of 12-4 it's a courtesy requirement of AHS not May Heating.....wow I would have been embarrassed to tell a customer something like this. Avoid this place! Please know if you are a member of AHS and they assign you a contractor like May Heating, you can request a different one. I'm stuck with them for now, until they get this furnace right. If I could give this company a -5 stars I would. HORRIBLE company!!! The technician broke my attic door and said he probably did and to put some glorilla glue on it. I call the company and now Karlos is saying he didn't do it. I dont go in my attic and before he came it was not broke. Now he does not want to admit it. Sad shame you can hire people that lie on customers. That's horrible business. How can I even recommend them. The service technician came to my residence. He inspected and took out the filter upstairs and took a photo of it. He then pulled the attic door by the string and walked up the stairs to the attic. He left the attic door open and went downstairs and removed the filter. He took a picture of that too. The problem for which he came out was because there was perspiration on my daughters wall in her bedroom. He said it was PROBABLY the filters that needed changing. He then went to the outside of the house where the two units were and checked them. He said one of them needed 3 lbs of air whatever you call it He then said he was getting ready to go. I said aren't you going to close the attic door, he said oh yes. He told me to go into my kitchen and sign his paperwork. So I said I'll go upstairs with you. So I followed him upstairs. When he pushed the attic door back up, I noticed it was cracked and had a space opening on the side. I said hey what happened there, he said oh. I said you broke it because it wasn't broken before you opened it and went up the ladder. He said I probably did break it. He then told me, a 72 yr old woman that I could get some gorilla glue and glue it back together. I said will that work, he said yes. You can glue anything with gorilla glue. Me not knowing, when my son came home. He asked me what happened to the attic door. I told him. My son said gorilla glue won't fix that. He then called and talked to someone supposedly a manager. The manager said he would take care of it. Days went by and I never heard anything. So I requested to speak with a manager. The receptionist said leave a message on The managers phone which is Tara. Which I did. Still to this day, never received a reply from her. Tara I emailed you today. My fiancé Jeffrey was handling it for me because i was not happy with it. We told the other company not to come because you all needs to fix the attic. They finally came way after your tech broke it. We have left messages for Tara and she has not returned our calls. If it was like that I would not lie and put this review on here. I have no reason to lie. I've been on my job well over 20 yrs and I didn't get this far lying. let's talk about MAY "not" HEATING AND A/C. The technician contacted me at 12 pm to let me know that he would arrive at 12:15. I let him know I was currently in the drive thru getting my child's food. he arrived at my home at 12:17. He contacted me at 12:19. I missed the call bc i had to go inside the restaurant bc they messed up my food. I returned the call at 12:24 as i was turning into my neighborhood. Today, as of November 3, 2020, I still have not received a call, email, or letter letting me know if I needed to pay out of pocket. She also refused to provide me with her supervisors number and rudely hung up in my face. Maybe she was having a bad day, but there is no excuse for cutting me off all and being disrespectful. Too many people are out of jobs for her careless kind of behavior. This company has been out to my property twice and have not been able to properly diagnose the problem, however, this Tara chick decided to tell me what the problem could potentially be and that my warranty company probably won't pay for it..."so read the fine print." May heating and air came to my home via American Home Shield. We paid May Heating and Air $1485.00 to add freon to our unit. The service person did this on May 26, 2022. It took a couple of days for me to realize the rooms were not cooling.We called AHS and they sent another service person from another company, he showed us where the freon was leaking from the same place on the same unit. We called May heating and air directly and they told us because the job was from AHS they could not speak with us directly. It is now 30 days past the install date (May 26, 2022) so AHS says we have to pay again. May is not speaking to us. At this point I feel that I don't have a choice but to seek legal advice. I originally called to have my A/C repaired July 19th. The repair was completed today, August 4th. That equates to 17 days without A/C during July in Georgia. Technicians came out on 3 separate occasions, and we got put at the back of the line for our next appointment after each visit that the technicians did not repair the unit. My AC went out and I was referred to May heating and air through American home shield. Michael came to my house on September 13, 2023. He told that the ac and furnace weren't working because the control panel board and the blower motor were out. I was then told by one of the females in the office that the blower motor was on "national back order". My furnace is under warranty so I called a Goodman dealer. He came out and checked the unit, got the control panel board and installed it. Both my furnace and air started working. I was also advised that there was NO way Michael could know the blower motor was out if the unit would not turn on!!!! They advised that no times were available and scheduled for Saturday between 8 and 12.
