They made the repair appointment for yesterday, 3/1/24 between 8 and 12 and sent a text message a few days ahead of time to confirm. No show at noon, so we called and were told they were on another job but would show that day. When we called at 5, they were closed. I told the tech what was going on ; all he did was put batteries in the thermostat. States he went to the attic and changed the wiring out. I don't believe him. I took off from work to sit home from 1200 to 400 and he showed up at 530pm. Unbelievable! Now I have to use up another 4 hours of sick time. I'm a single mom of a child with health issues that needs to save my time for him. What a disgrace. Once this is fixed. I'm switching Home Owners. Customer service seemed non empathetic of my situation. I don't feel confident with them coming out a second.... Failures and incompetent!!!!! I told him my ac is blowing out hot air. American home shield sent May's Heating and Air to service my AC unit back in Sept. 2022. I was told that I had a new air condenser that was installed. My unit was blowing hot air recently. I made a service call in May heating and air was sent to my house again on May 13, 2023. The unit was not cooling and needed Freon. I was charged $900 at that time I recently on June 19 put in a service call for the same problem. I was told because after 30 days I will have to pay an extra service fee to American home shield due to Mays, heating and air poor performance. I ask American home shield to send somebody else they seem to be incompetent. read more

This company was assigned to me through American Home Shield for air conditioner repair. The first technician that came to look at the ac unit was fine, since he didn't have a lot to do. The problems were with the office staff and later the person who said he's the supervisor for north georgia region, specially cobb county. The air conditioner's compressor died, so a new one was needed. AHS approved for the new compressor and May people said that it would be 5-7 days, this was on August 5th. On day 7, I called May and was told we were responsible for $1366 for freon and clamps that AHS doesn't cover. The representative then said that it will be another 7-10 days because the compressor still hadn't come in. I had to make several calls to AHS and had to insist that I talk to a supervisor to get some clarification about the compressor; AHS said that they would contact May to get an update. Later that evening I called AHS and was told that May didn't respond to them. I had to call May to tell them that AHS needed to talk to them. We also called several independent companies who said that our unit was old and it's difficult to find a new compressor. This information was never communicated to us by neither May or AHS. Finally on 8/14. May calls to say that they found a compressor and can install it on 8/16. That Friday at my home, the technician tells me that I have to pay the $1366 to him by cash, card, or cashier check. Otherwise they will reschedule the the appointment. I spoke to their office supervisor and he said that retirement was in the agreement work order that I signed. He also told us "I don't work for you, I work for AHS." My review is that AHS assigned a contractor that has many negative reviews from other AHS customers, all they care about is money. The quality of services is extremely low and I would never recommend this company. Anyone using AHS for ac work, do not go with this company if you have a choice. He had to reopen a service account and then no showed three appointments. 1.5 months later he showed up said their was pest damage to the HVAC lines and would not return calls or texts. Serious concerns about the services that I have received from your company over the last 1.5 months. We noticed a small puddle of water in our garage near our inside unit. We called American Home Warranty (AHW), who put us in contact w/ your company, and a tech named Karlos came out to our home on May 10th. Karlos inspected the unit inside/outside and borrowed bleach from us and was able to clear the clog. He also suggested that there was a UV filter in the inside unit that needed to be replaced and we purchased and replaced it several days later. There were no other issues with our system. Oddly, 10 days after he touched our perfectly running system, suddenly it's no longer able to cool the house. AHS sends Karlos to our house on the 23rd of May. Now he diagnosed our AC system w/ an unidentified leak "somewhere" and gave us 2 options, add 3lbs of freon ($392) or do a 72-hour test to confirm/deny there was a leak. As our system has been working fine for well over the last 2 years, we opted for the freon, we'd been without any AC in the house for over 3 days. Less than 3 weeks after his visit we noticed it began getting warm in the house again, a day later, 11th of June, we had no AC. We call AHW, and Karlos is back out here on 17th of June. He began a 72-hour test of our system but let us know that there was a leak and we were going to have to replace the entire system. So, we had been w/o any AC for 6 days, it looked like it was only going to be 3 more before we'd have an answer and hopefully our system would be fixed. We are running fans non-stop to keep our home in the mid 80's. June 20th, 2 different techs come out. They inform us that the system is indeed holding pressure and that there is no leak. The reason we have no cold air is because we are completely out of freon. We discussed how this could happen in a system that had no identified leaks and it was brought to our attention that there were 2 caps that had been left off and that the freon could have leaked out of these points. The caps were now securely placed and that a full take of freon would cost $1,651. They did not carry that amount of freon w/ them and would have to come back out and fill up our system 2 days later. June 22nd, our 11th day with no AC, it's now registering over 90 degrees, 2 techs come back out and inform us that they were told to come back and run another test on our system to ensure there were no leaks and this test would take 2-3 days. This was absolutely not what we had requested. We made a phone call on the 21st to inform the company of all the previous troubles we had had, particularly w/ Karlos. We were told that someone would call us back. Our expectation was to have our freon filled on the 22nd. We never received a call back from anyone and we were surprised when the 2 techs showed up not to re-fill our freon but to run another 48-72 hour test. We made it very clear to the 2 techs that we don't want Karlos to ever come back to our home again and we want our freon filled when they come back 48-hours later barring some spontaneous leak is found despite 2 previous negative tests. An email appt confirmation shows that Karlos was scheduled to return to our home on Tuesday the 25th, the exact opposite of what we asked for. At this point, I have no idea what to even expect should he come out here again. What I do know is that this morning is day 12 with no AC, our system was working fine minus a small clog in our drainage line 1.5 months ago, since Karlos came out here, we've had nothing but catastrophic problems, caps were removed and not replaced. We've already paid nearly $400 dollars for freon that lasted less than a month, I can't even imagine how high our electric bill is going to be for these 2 months. We'll be placing a call first thing Monday morning and try to get some kind of resolution for our problem for the negligence of your tech Karlos. Wish there was a zero rating for this company. Initially had a positive experience with them, via their technician JT, but because of the protective cage of my A/C, they had to come back out a week later (long time in Georgia sun) and they sent me confirmation via American Home Shield for 1-5pm. I got a call at 9:30 am saying I had missed my appt, and when I alerted them to the error, they took no accountability, blamed me for missing the appt, and said it much be a 'glitch' in the system, which I understand. However, instead of taking the accountability to get someone out during our allotted time, they continued to try to reschedule, despite the fact that my husband took off to accommodate their scheduled appt. Then, when they continued to 'explain', I told them that the explanation wasn't helping the situation and that all i wanted to find out is when they would be able to come back out that day. After a couple of calls, they mentioned to American Home Shield that I had 'threatened them', completely disparaging my character, and I am still awaiting the recorded transcript of this accusation to forward to the CEO's office of American Home Shield. I have no plans of slowing down this process until they lose their contract with AHS after taking them to court for slander. I believe this is the first one-star review I have ever written on this site. This company has technicians who are either incredibly incompetent or complete cons--I am leaning toward con men. I was assigned them through American Home Shield and my experience was so horrible I am strongly leaning toward dropping American Home Shield altogether. My furnace was short cycling right at the time of year it was starting to get cold. One of the techs was wearing a mask that made a political statement on it, so I was feeling uneasy about them the moment they walked in the door. The experience went downhill from there. The service techs looked at the furnace and diagnosed the problem as a bad control board. They said they would call back when they got the part in. I waited a week for the call back and was livid when I checked the status of the order with AHS and found that May Heating had closed out the work order. AHS called May Heating while on the phone with me, who told them they had ordered the part and it would be in the following week. Waited ANOTHER week only to get notified by AHS that they were denying the claim. May Heating had claimed the control board issue was caused by a leaking pipe and therefore AHS wouldn't cover it. I then paid another copay to the warranty company to have a plumber sent out to fix the alleged leak. Turns out the leak was not coming from a pipe but the furnace itself. The PLUMBER was easily able to diagnose the problem as a backed up condenser line. When I was showed the pics, the issue was clear as day and there was no way anyone could have messed that up, even someone with no knowledge of HVAC systems. I suspect May Heating was either scamming the warranty company or for whatever reason was deliberately trying to cause us inconvenience due to their political stances. AHS sent out another HVAC tech who diagnosed and fixed the HVAC in under 30 minutes. Because of May Heating my family was without heat for nearly three weeks and I had to pay an extra $75 deductible, which AHS is in the process of refunding. If you have a choice, I would not let this contractor set foot on my property. read more

When the tech "Josh" came out of the attic "fixing the problem" water began pouring from the light fixture and vent on the other side of the kitchen. Water was NOT coming from that part of the kitchen before he went into the attic and used my personal vacuum cleaner to clean up the mess. He stated that the company does NOT supply them with a wet-vac. He stated that it had to drain through the light and there was nothing he could do. The light started hanging from the ceiling, I showed it to Josh but he said that there was nothing he could do. I called them out again because Josh told me to. The company sent out Chris. Chris into the attic came down and shut his head. He went back up in the attic and came back down again and said that the light was nowhere near the air conditioner unit and wanted to know how water got into the light. I told him that I did not know and it happened when Josh came to fix it. He said that water should have never come from that side because the unit was on the other side of the kitchen. Chris said to me that he felt like it was their (May) fault because water should have not come from over there and he would take pictures and send it to his supervisor to have the light replaced and someone will reach out to me. Well, I called Josh and he got an attitude and said Chris was new and should not have said that he caused the problem. I reminded him that water came from the other side of the kitchen. Josh had the nerve to write false information in his report. it has been about 3 weeks and no one has reached out. I called on 12/2/2020 and the woman said Josh wrote things in his report that were not true! trying to cover his tail!! They are training Chris to be a scumbag like they are! Meanwhile Akeem from this company LIED NUMEROUS TIMES TO ME about coming out and putting a thermostat in. Lo and behold i needed a new compressor that was FRIED which the guy from Davis spotted immediately and is confused how Akeem did not see this. May NEVER SUBMITTED THE WORK ORDER TO AHS!!!! After sending Akeem out a second time because the thermostat didn't fix the issue he said it was the compressor. So i waited like an idiot with no air thinking they'd call with an update and NEVER DID. I even contacted Akeem the technician cause he seemed cool at first but no no no he only cares about making that 125$ every time he visits from the warranty company. This was the worst experience and my kids had to sleep in the heat for 3 days before i got a unit for my window because Akeem told me it would only take a week and a half to get the part and fix. MEANWHILE 6 WEEEEKS WENT BY!!! And the weather has fluctuated. He left me a thermostat that would be capable of turning my emergency heat on. He advised using it since it was below 50 out. On his second visit when he said i had a compressor issue he told me my electric bill would be high. IT WAS 140$ MORE! So on top of the SH*TTY experience i was left with this light bill too. I thankfully called Davis who got my whole entire issue resolved in 4 working days!!!!! DO NOT LET AMERICAN HOME SHEILD SEND YOU THESE SCAMMERS!! Avoid if at all possible. Filed a Better Business Bureau complaint and took a few months to respond (filed 05/16/2020 and response came 07/24/2020). Basically, they did not properly set up the air compressor in a brand new unit. They set this up in January. When time came to turn AC on, there was nothing. I called them to ask what could be happening since they installed it. They told me to file a claim with home warranty, otherwise they were not doing anything. Had to file a new home warranty claim and took 6 weeks to have it finally finished. They called three times on 07/24, all right in a row, left no voicemail, and claimed they tried to contact multiple times to BBB. Their technicians no called/no showed multiple 4 hour window appointments and their office manager was not happy (with us) when we asked what was going on with this. If you possibly can, just avoid them and save yourself the headache. read more

It has been 2 months and some odd days since the initial visit from May Heating and Air to diagnose the problem with my AC. It took three consecutive visits for them to come out and actually find the problem which is ridiculous. They come up with an excuses as to why they haven't fixed it yet and that the part is on backorder. I have my assumptions as to what's really going on however at this point I just want my air conditioner fixed. It is the condenser coil that has to be replaced and the warranty company approved the replacement a month ago. Please do not use this company. I was appointed this company through American Home Shield. My a/c unit stopped working back in June. May Heating and Air came out and told me the compressor needed to be replaced and that they would need to order the part and would call for scheduling when ready. The insurance company was not going to pay the total amount and that I would have to pay about $1400.00 out of pocket for new refrigerant plus some other miscellaneous parts that were required by code. When I asked how long it would take they told me it would probably be in by early next week ( this was a Friday). They called me early the next week to tell me the part had arrived but that they couldn't come back out for two weeks. I was shocked when they told me I would be without a/c for that long (I live in south east Georgia and it was summer), but i figured that we had already started down this path and might as well finish it. I said ok let's do it and waited two weeks. When two weeks later the appointment came, no one showed up... So I called to find out what happened and they told me that the technician who was scheduled to do the work was out sick and they forgot to tell me no one would be coming. They then rescheduled me for another appointment two weeks later. Two weeks later comes around and the technician shows up this time and does the work and then says it should be fixed now but it will take a couple of hours to start cooling down. A couple of hours rolls around and still no a/c... So I call May Heating and Air back and tell them of the situation and with out any empathy, they tell me they will send someone back on Wednesday the week after next. When I tell them that this is unacceptable and ask for a sooner appointment as this is a call back and not a regular visit they then tell me that they will work me in for the Wednesday of this week. The next day I get a notification that says that I have been scheduled for next Thursday a week and a half later! At this point I had been without a/c for almost two months, they never even gave me a temporary a/c and it was almost August and I was miserable. I decided to just call another company to get it fixed ASAP. Apparently the whole unit was falling apart and May Heating and Airs job was to just get rid of me. I still kept the appointment but they still didn't fix it. The local company I called came in right after May Heating and Air and was a night and day difference. Three lessons I learn through this experience. I had an unbelievably BAD experience with May Heating and Air, They were dispatched to my home by American Home Shield , The tech stayed at my home a total of fifteen minutes and concluded that my home A/C needed over $2,000 (out of pocket) worth of repair. I called Home Shield and requested a second opinion which resulted in things being no where near as dire as MAY HEATING AND AIR made it out to be. $600 (out of pocket) for repairs. I believe the tech was dishonest and elevated the work order to make a quick buck for work that was not needed. AVOID THIS ORGANIZATION AT ALL COST! I used this company through American Home Shield. It was for a ProConnect tuneup. Technician, Chris Green, explained our furnace was a two stage system, but set up only on one stage, which was the most inefficient one. He set it up for two stage then left. The furnace now only blows cold air. This was done on the Friday before Thanksgiving. Of course May Heating and Air is closed on the weekends. Today is Monday before Thanksgiving and they are refusing to come out and fix the problem their technician created. The best they can do is come out the week after Thanksgiving. The temperature is going to be dropping down to 30 degrees this week. THEY DON'T WEAR MASKS!!! My service technician was Mark and he was the absolute worst. He initially came to my home to assess the air handler unit that was causing major damage to my ceiling due to a leak. He explained to me what I needed done and assessed the situation. Fast forward I got all of the contractor work done prior to the new unit being installed. The unit was installed 7/12 by a couple they were very personable and did everything they could to help me out. They explained that I needed a filter for the unit 20x20x1 and Mark would bring it 7/13. Mark comes to my home 7/13 and explains to me he does not have the filter because they are all sold out. I look online and the Home Depot has them for pickup, I was told to go get one then. I asked "why was I told this?" he stated "they were just being nice". I then asked why did you give me the filter size of 20x22x1 he said "I'm just guessing it could be either one you can go up there and see for yourself and decide" I then asked "can you help me figure out the size "he stated "that's not my job we don't do that I came here to do what I just did" I also asked him to show me where the filter goes considering I'm a single mom and no where near handy he stated "go up there look to the left and you will see it" I then said "really is this how you conduct business" he sated "I did my job" I'm big on customer service and when you pay thousands of dollars you expect to be treated with a little respect. read more

I have AHS, and they sent May Heating and Air to look at my issues with my HVAC unit. On Sept. 30, 2022, I filed a claim on AHS for a service. On Oct. 3rd, the technician JT OConnor came to my house and said the air handler would need to be replaced. He also said that, within 24 hours, I would get a notification about setting a date and time for installation. This did not happen. On Oct. 13th, I called for an update, but there was none. I called again on Oct. 24th, and no update again. I called on Oct. 26th, and no update again. On Nov. 4th, I called, and they replied that the air handler was not on order yet. She then fixed the issue and placed it on order. on Nov. 14th, I called for an update, and they said they were waiting on AHS to fund and supply the equipment. On Nov. 21st, I called AHS to see if they could tell me the status of the air handler and if there was anything I needed to do. They said the air handler was ready for pick up on Nov. 5th. On Nov. 23rd, I called May Heating and Air again; ONeil, the employee I talked to, said that she would call AHS directly and figure out the issue, and then she would call me back. I did NOT receive a callback. On December 9th, I called them again, and ONeil was the employee I talked to again. She then said that she would have to call AHS back, but in the middle of our conversation, she hung up on me. This company is extremely unprofessional with how they handle business. I do not recommend their service to anyone. If AHS could remove them from the businesses they work with, that would be great. read more

Recently bought a house and the AC went out. It was covered under my home warranty and May Heating and Air was contracted to evaluate and fix the problem. They showed up for the inspection on a timely manner and found the problem. However, it has now been 2 weeks and they have not communicated with my warranty company so that the problem can get fixed. The experience I had with May Heating and Air was out right awful!!! I wouldn't advise anyone to use this Company for service. I was connected to them via my Home Warranty Company. It was a pain just to confirm the appointment. The ladies at the office that worked to resolve the issues were cordial and understanding. They did try to deliver better service. I must say that for them. I don't like writing bad reviews and I truly don't like the fact I must write this for the ladies sake. But there are people that feel they can treat certain people any kind of way. Because, most of the time we just deal with it and don't write anything. So, now about my experience. 1.) I had two no shows: They sent me a message to confirm the appointment and both times I confirmed the appointment, the technician didn't show up. There was no follow up call so I called the company to find out why the technician is not showing up. Turns out there was confusion over the technician trying to call me the day and time of a confirmed appointment from an unidentified number. I worked it out with the ladies at the office that since this is their policy, then have the technician text or email me first, so that I wouldn't have to answer every SPAM caller that day, just to try to catch a call, while I'm working and attending a crazy number of meetings, just to confirm for the second time and already confirmed and scheduled appointment from an unidentified caller. I explained a text or email would allow me to learn the number of the person/technician that will be coming out and I would thereby expect a call from that number. The ladies were cordial, understanding, and reasonable and agreed given the fact they had all my information (phone number, email address, ..etc). So, I thought that was resolved...read on.... 2.) The third attempt to have a technician come out they rescheduled me. They said it was due to a temperature drop and they would not be adding coolant that day. Now remember: we don't know what the problem is with my units. No one has been out to my house yet. 3.) Finally, after three tries, the technicians came out to troubleshoot. The guy Gene rips open my furnace and leaves stating I would get a message later with their diagnosis and cost. The guy doesn't know whether I would be ready to move forward with whatever they would be recommending since he wouldn't tell me at the time what he found and an estimate of the job cost. They didn't check my other unit while they were out because they said it wasn't on the work order. That was the fault of my Home warranty Company so I scheduled them to come back out to trouble shoot that one as well. 4.) I received a text message to confirm the appointment to trouble shoot the other unit and confirmed it for 4-15-21 for following week. 4-16-21, they scheduled to install the coil for the first unit. Again, NO SHOW. I texted the company to enquire about the whereabouts of the technician that was scheduled. The office returned text stating the appointment is still scheduled but the technician is running late. He NEVER SHOWED UP. The next day, during a phone call, they stated the technician called me, although late and outside of the appointment window but left a message. REPEATING CONFUSION THST WAS SUPPOSEDLY RESOLVED IN 1.) 5.) The next Day Friday, they show up to fix the first unit. When asked if they would be trouble shooting the second unit, the technician hadn't ANY knowledge of a request to trouble shoot second unit. Also, he DEMANDS I give him FULL PAYMENT UP FRONT without turning the first screw. 6.) I called the office and they apologize for not making it clear that they expect full payment up front before starting the job. So, we synced on the payment and reschedule for the following day to do the job on the first unit and trouble shoot the second. 7.) That next day in the morning, I get a call from Gene stating it will be a $75 ADDITIONAL CHARGE to come back out. That was the retaliatory FEE. That was the last straw. Terrible. They came out to assess an AC unit that is over 35 years old that should be condemned and replaced, which is authorized by my insurance company, but Mays insists on replacing a compressor and two capacitors on a unit over 35 years old at an out of pocket of over $1800. Does not make sense and would not do business with this company! read more

The absolute worst Air and Heating company you can call. They will try to replace every part on your A.C as they never diagnose the true problem. You will end up calling them several times to come out and have to wait a week between each service call. They book their technicians schedule weeks in advance with warranty calls from American Home Shield and will make you wait for a return service call and charge you a $79.00 fee. Poor customer service and sorry technicians that will not properly repair your unit. They should not be in business. read more

Beware... this company comes out to fix my AC and their tech ends up messing up my AC unit more. After 6 days of calling and calling Junior in their call center this company refuses after 6 days of calling to come fix their screw up. These people are unprofessional. I have yet to receive a receipt for my credit card payment. It's been a week. How long does it take to print or email a receipt? They didn't send the diagnosis to my warranty company until a week after they came to my property which severely delayed the time to get the part ordered. Then they ordered the wrong part and blamed the warranty company, which took another week to get right. So I went over 2 weeks with no a/c in 90 degree Georgia weather. And, I'm still waiting on the receipt for the additional charges of the service. What is their problem? If my warranty company tries to send them to me again, I will refuse them and ask for a different provider. read more
