I have gotten delivery from Maya before, but I'm glad I've also now been able to visit in person. The menu is clearly laid out with several bagel sandwich options, for breakfast and lunch. And like I said I went with the lox option. You can choose your type of bagel from the case. We ordered and had our bag to-go within a couple of minutes. There's nothing wrong with the service here and there is an interesting assortment of bagels to choose from and it didn't taste bad at all the reason I'm giving this place at two is number one. Their prices are almost double what I can get across the street in Panera paying 14 something for a turkey bagel my wife got is outrageous. It's just a breakfast sandwich. It's not $14. It's big it's not huge but Panera sells similar sized sandwiches on bagels for like seven or eight dollars. There's just no reason and my breakfast sandwich was about $11. You know again pretty decent quality no problem, but this shouldn't be more than six or seven bucks. Also again they have no drinks you have to buy a bottle. You can't just get a cup of water with your food. You'd have to buy a bottled water anywhere that does this I automatically boycott will never go to again. read more

On a recent trip to the Louisville Zoo we decided to stop in to Maya Bagel Express before heading to our destination. We'd been by it a number of times and thought it was about time we try it. Maya Bagel Express is an order-at-the-counter, we'll-call-your-order-number-when-it's-ready kind of place. We took a few minutes to look over the menu and then ordered. While the menu isn't extensive, it has enough to handle your breakfast or lunch needs. My wife had a breakfast sandwich and I ordered the Roast Beef. Maya Bagel Express doesn't have a soft drink fountain but does have a very large cooler of beverages for you to chose from. Bottled water, soft drinks, energy drinks, and fruit drinks are all available. There are about a dozen tables and high-tops for dining in, as well as a few umbrella-covered tables outside. Our visit was on Memorial Day and we got lucky that the weather was amazing. The gentleman at the counter took our order and answered any question we had easily, and we had a few because it was our first visit. He helped with a recommendation and we very pleasant. Food delivery took less than ten minutes and our orders accurate and tasty. My wife's breakfast sandwich was HOT, so it had to sit for a minute. My roast beef sandwich wasn't heated, so I dug right in. My sandwich was REALLY good. I've come to appreciate the fact that Boar's Head meats, while a little pricier, are well worth the extra you pay for them. My only suggestion for the roast beef sandwich would be adding fresh onion and maybe some horseradish...but that's me. The restaurant was clean when we arrived and we saw someone come out to clean a couple tables while we were there. Our first visit to Maya Bagel Express was 100% awesome...and now we have a lunch destination before heading to the Zoo. I ordered the bacon egg and cheese on a jalapeño cheese bagel and my partner ordered the lox sandwich also on an jalapeño and cheese bagel. My bagel was okay, I didn't taste any jalapeño in my bagel and I should have asked for it to be toasted longer. This was a disappointing visit. Yes, I was cheerfully greeted and my order was taken quickly. But for a $20+ lunch I expected something more substantial. Sandwiches at Jason's or McAlisters offer a better product at comparable pricing. My pastrami was fine. All 2-3 slices. A thin sandwich. Served in a toasted bagel that was very good. I grabbed a bag of chips and immediately noticed they were a tad stale. Sure enough, the "Good Til" date had passed. Want a soft drink? $3.50 lets you choose from their cooler. The same bottle that'll set you back $2 and the 7-11. There's nothing inherently wrong with Maya Bagel. But there's also nothing exceptional. Other than high prices. I suspect their breakfast sandwiches are better. Hopefully offered at a lower price point. For lunch, there are far better deli's to support. read more

I've been craving a bagel lately so I looked up the highest rated places in the city and found Maya bagel express! I came in with the idea of ordering a breakfast sandwich on a bagel, eating it open faced, and eating the other side of the bagel with a sweet schmear. Savory & sweet! I told the nice woman at the register it was my first time there and asked for recommendations. I got a sausage, egg, and cheese on a salt bagel. It was the saltiest thing I've ever tasted honestly. I probably wouldn't get that one again. The bagel itself was soft and delicious once I tapped a bit of the salt off. I ordered the cinnamon walnut cream cheese for the bottom half of my bagel. The sweet woman didn't think a salt bagel was a good match so she threw in a free French toast bagel which was excellent. I'll be back! read more

Firm on the outside and soft on the inside it's as close as a New York bagel as you can get nearby. Service is friendly and quick. Nice little spot with seating area inside and out. First time here. I heard about this place through yelper reviews. Maya Bagel Express have been in business for 2 years now. There's plenty of parking and they have several bagel selections to choose from. They also cur your bagel in 1/2 so you don't have to worry about requesting for that. Once you order it doesn't take long for them to get your order. They cook it right on the spot. I have no complaints. Everyone was nice. Food was fresh, establishment was clean, no long wait. Even though there was a line, people were moving right along. Oh and most important they have an "A". They do have a restroom. There's a private sign for people not to walk through, but the restroom door is right next to it. read more

I walked over to find an outlet to charge my phone and explicitly told him that I was going to buy food as soon as I plugged my items in. Instead of accepting my business, the employee caught an attitude, told me it 'didn't look like I wanted anything,' and refused to serve me. He completely misjudged my intentions based on my sunglasses and facial expression, even though I openly offered to be a paying customer. Visited March 23, 2025 I stopped by this gem while visiting Louisville, KY for a conference. This was the perfect grab-and-go breakfast before hitting the road. I knew this would be a good choice when I saw how busy it was for a Sunday. I was greeted when I came in and the server gave me recommendations since it was my first time here. I ordered the turkey bacon, egg, and cheese on a french toast bagel and I also ordered the BLT on an original bagel. It took about 5 minutes to receive my order and everything came out hot and fresh. The bagels were so soft and the flavors were great. I thought my french toast bagel was going to be super sweet, but it was very subtle. Over the course of almost a year I had built up about $50 worth of rewards at Maya Bagel Express. Now, the first time I go to use said rewards, I am told that they did away with their rewards system. So after giving them probably 6-7 thousand dollars worth of business they say their rewards are canceled and I can't use what I had built up for a free bagel sandwich. Located very close to the always busy Norton's audobon hospital I'm sure this breakfast spot gets lots of visitors. I'm big bagel sandwich guy and Lousiville josh doesn't have many options for that so I was happy to see this place come around. Stopped in here mid morning with the family to meet some family friends. The interior is rather small with maybe 4-5 seating options. You walk to the counter and order your bagel sandwich and bagel. I personally went with a bacon egg and cheese on a everything bagel and it was a solid bagel. I felt it was missing something like a hollandaise sauce. But still pretty good and the bagel was fresh. My wife and oldest both got bacon egg and cheese bagels and agreed. My 12 year old got the pizza bagel and she appeared to enjoy it. She ate it all which is a win for her. Overall a pretty cool place. Pricing was pretty high compared to other bagel Places and I'd like to see them make the switch to fountain sodas Vs overpricing bottled sodas. It's a decent trip from My area so not sure how often I'll come Back. But I wouldn't be opposed to trying again. read more

I love the light jazz atmosphere playing in the restaurant and the decor is pretty modern and cool. The staff was super quick and friendly. I liked how they lady behind the counter wanted to make sure I got full and offered me all of the meat choices for my bagel! The bagel itself was very good and flavorful and they even cut the sandwich in half to make it easier to eat on the go. I got the BLT without mayo & added scallion cream cheese for my grandma & she loved hers. She saved half for later. She said a couple times this is really good. Welcome to Lou city Maya's! I'll always want more bagel options in town so when I saw this place serving them up NY style, you know I had to check it out....And I've been back a few times since already haha. Everyone working has been very nice and the line moves pretty quick even if busy. Location isn't bad, kinda centrally located in the middle of the city if you're anywhere in town. One gripe is the layout inside just doesn't make a lot of sense. The way you order is confusing with where they have the pickup window at. You order before seeing the bagels but then you have to wait by the door otherwise the pickup window area is crowded. Not sure who came up with that but it seems like it could've been more efficient flow... The bagels and sandwiches have been great. My usual go-to bagels are everything or Jalapeño cheddar. All bagels I've gotten have had great texture to them and very fresh which is awesome. The everything is pretty close to perfect for me with the coverage of seeds. The Jalapeño cheddar is good too but I wish it was spicier or had penos on top as well as mixed into the dough...As well as a bit more cheese too. The cream cheeses are solid also. I go for garlic herb anywhere I can find it, so it's definitely my go-to choice and I'll add it to any sandwich I can. Also tried the bacon scallion which was good, some nice bits of both to get the flavor but not loaded by any means. Only had one issue with the food as got a online order pickup and they forgot to add the egg to my breakfast sandwich. At that point I was already too far away to do anything about it so just a reminder to maybe check your order if you're able to. Also being relatively new I get it happens. Favorite things so far: Bacon breakfast sandwich on everything with added garlic herb cream cheese. BLT lunch sandwich on jalapeño cheddar bagel with also added garlic herb cream cheese. It's hovering right at that 4.5ish star for me but not perfect (Few things I'd change) which is why I went with a 4 instead. Overall, I'll absolutely be back when I'm in the area! read more

A NY a bagel shop right by me in KY. The lox had lots of salmon, plenty of capers and fluffy cream cheese. On a soft yet crispy bagel spinach bagel as suggested- YUM. My lunch mate got the breakfast bagel with lots of bacon on a jalapeño cheddar bagel- which was delicious. This has quickly become a favorite quick breakfast/lunch spot of mine (and for many others from the look of it). There's a solid variety of bagels: the classic and similar riffs (like the egg bagel), savory (spinach is one of my favorites), sweet (French toast!), and fun (Everything and garlic are a couple I enjoy). And behind the bagels and various schmears, there are some tasty sandwich options. Pastrami, egg, and cheese is a go-to, and if you don't enjoy a bacon, egg, and cheese on the French toast bagel, you might not enjoy life.... Service is friendly and fast. The owner is always especially welcoming. Order on the left, walk ten feet or so to the right to pick it up--simple! There's not a ton of space to dine in, but the setup is more of a quick-serve, to-go model anyway. And the space is welcoming, whether you're grabbing and going or want to sit and enjoy a bagel and a coffee. Music selection is always enjoyable too, I might add. read more
