I came here for lunch on a whim while I was in the area. It's a tiny little place with a few seats but seems to mostly do a takeout business. I had been craving a lox bagel and Maya's certainly delivered! The lox, onion, tomato, capers and garlic cream cheese on an everything bagel definitely satisfied that craving! Tons of flavor at a decent price. Not my absolute favorite everything bagel (a touch too much salt for me) but they have all different kinds of bagels so I'll just get a different one next time, as there will definitely be a next time! read more

Came through Maya Bagel Express right around lunch time on a weekday. I'm happy to report they were pretty busy and quick to get the food ready for everyone who seemed to be stopping in during their short lunch break from work. They accommodated my request to sub turkey for ham in my breakfast sammy with no problem at all. I got to choose my own bagel and went with an everything bagel (duh!). Honestly, one of the best everything bagels I've ever had. The turkey, egg, and cheese were all hot and melty when I bit into the bagel sandwich - exactly what you can hope for! I do wish it was cut in half so I could've easily saved half for later and gotten that sweet half and half photo, but I'll be sure to request that next time. They serve Peets coffee and there's also a beverage cooler with soda, juices, and Snapple. They sell Miss Vickie's chips here, too. It's definitely an "express" - the seating is kind of awkward and not really meant for people to stay awhile. They also don't have WiFi for guests, so I couldn't stay and work awhile like I was hoping to. I stopped in and ordered the Everything with chive cream cheese and an iced coffee. The bagel is light and fluffy and the cream cheese was very good as well. It felt freshly made and they definitely packed a lot on there. The iced coffee comes without flavor and you add as much syrup, milk, or half and half as you like. They had 4 pumps I believe. I like that because I could make it as sweet as I wanted. The staff working that day was very kind and fun. There is seating inside and outside. Free parking is available in a private lot with more in an adjacent lot next door. read more

Fresh and delicious bagels! Service was quick and easy. Most people were getting their orders to go as there aren't a lot of tables inside. I ate the spinach one and family members got the French toast and whole wheat bagels. We all shared the cinnamon walnut cream cheese and it was fantastic! Was excited to try out this bagel shop while doing business in Louisville. Had great reviews, right! Initially, excellent service. Got an everything bagel with cc, a salt bagel, and my co worker ordered a bacon egg cheese on a bagel and some beverages Her sandwich had a hair in it. No big deal...I own a food company and while rare, it happens. We can be human, it is possible for oops to transpire. Went to the cashier, the one that was initially kind and friendly...let him know that the half of the bagel she started eating had a hair in it. Figured this is simple, had great communication previously. This guy...wanted me to produce the hair. I guess between the distance of her finding it, and than walking over to him, it must have fallen out. I started being questioned as to the validity of my claim. Outrageous, I ask to have a half of a breakfast sandwich remade...and than demanded to produce this small particle of hair. Possibly, it fell out of the sandwich, after her teeth pulled it out, and than her tongue put it back onto the sandwich...anyone ever have a hair in their food? Maybe I just didn't give into his demands of attempting to search vigorously enough through the sandwich. Or, I just didn't get on my hands and knees to search on the ground for this, piece of hair. I ended the communication instantly, proceeded to go back to our table, and I threw all of our remaining food and drink into the garbage. I had 2 small bites of my bagel. It wasn't worth consuming the rest of our food as the energy that was in it, was tainted. You have a serious problem to question to produce this, demanded evidence, and proceed to give a patron a hard time over the disbelief that having a hair in one's food...simply wasn't possible if I didn't produce what you needed to see. Shame on your company. Shame on you, the man that took our order. I wouldn't fraternize your establishment knowing that my food was being created by self righteous, egos. The quality of the food, unsure. Didn't want to continue eating. I could care less how expensive food is. If it's crappy, and the service is amazing...I'm all in If the food is amazing, and the service is horrific, such as the service that was provided...the service will always trump the food. You're putting an amateur in charge of communicating with customers that keep your doors open. A highly unintelligent business decision. Bad, very bad service. Without correction, it will get worse. Maya Bagels for the win!! First they are just really good bagels and love the soft, fluffy cream cheese. They were also open on Christmas morning which is amazing. There are only maybe 3 total good bagels spots in Louisville and surrounding area that I have come across and this is one of them. Second, they even have order online and easy pick up! I'm so happy that Maya Bagel Express is in the neighborhood! I have already been 3 times and tried several different things and I have loved them all! My first visit I had the BLT on a Salt Bagel on the recommendation of a friend and it was great. Next I went at breakfast time and I had the Sausage Egg and Cheese on an Everything Bagel and it was delicious and very filling. It came with two eggs on it which was very nice. Today I had the Turkey Club on and Everything Bagel and it may have been my overall favorite! The bagels are fresh and chewy and full of flavor. I also had a bagel with cream cheese to go on one visit and it was fantastic as well. Their whipped cream cheese is to die for. They also serve breakfast all day if that's your thing. The space is very clean and the employees are very friendly. I sincerely hope that they stick around for the long haul! read more

Very poor service this am. I have gone to this business multiple times since they opened and was generally pleased. I ordered a bagel sandwich this am and received the wrong order. I called and the older son who I've seen multiple times interacted with me on the phone. He was unapologetic, cocky, and rude. He said things happen...and ultimately, that I could come and have a chit chat about the problem. He essentially hung up on me. Not quick to say, they'd fix it. Disgusted me. He was rude when I came in. There were no customers in the store (was busy when I went 1.5 hours before). I told him that I didn't appreciate how he interacted with me on the phone. Customer service skills were just bad! He told me to go to Burger King or somewhere and not come back in the end. How dare he. Won't ever go back. When they added potatoes to the menu, I got them a couple times. The last time, they were horrible; not well cooked (done); tasted one and threw them away. I did not call to complain. The audacity for him to behave like that with a customer. That cocky attitude will lose other customers if he continues to display it. I have gone in there enough to know who his mother, father, and younger brother are. Lost one customer for sure! read more

Took a client here. We both like bagels. Interiors are small but nicely done, pretty greys. Very very limited seating, but it appears to be mostly on the fly food. I was ok with that. The counter person wasn't very welcoming or helpful. We just wanted bagels & cream cheese and something nice to drink like herb teas and coffee. The beverage selection was 'pointing at a cold case.' Hmm ok. However the bagels and cream cheese shocked us. Basically they were bagels that were cut in odd ways, with a huge pile of cream cheese slapped in the middle, like over an inch deep, smashed together against, wrapped in paper, tossed in a bag. I was kinda hoping for a toasted buttered bagel with a little tub of cream cheese and a knife so I could eat it like a civilized human. I'm sorry but it was gross. It was impossible to eat without it getting all over your hands and face. It was impossible to appreciate any flavor or quality of the bagel because of practically 8 oz of cream cheese all at once that you couldn't get away from or scrape off. We both needed to use the restroom to wash our hands after the excessive cheese debacle. It was out of order. All for $18 - two bagels, a plain coffee and water including undeserved tip. Never again. Family owned. Fast and friendly service. They offered me another free bagel as a a new customer in the area. I refused as I was traveling for work and was leaving the next morning. I asked for double toasted and cream cheese. Toasted excellent and plenty of cream cheese. Not skimpy like those other places where you need to ask for extra. Open early at 6 am. I went on a Tuesday at 730am. Others in the area were either still closed or not open on Tuesdays. How do you succeed with those outs. Top quality food and great family service. He struggled to place our order. While this is a negative, I understand the need to train new people and I give Maya a pass for throwing him into the fire. I ordered a jalapeno cheddar bagel with garlic herb cream cheese and pastrami. They use boar's head meat so expectations were high. The cream cheese and the pastrami did not disappoint. So much flavor. However the bagel left me wanting more. It was a little dense, a little tough. The meal was fine. Not worth the price though. I likely won't be back, but will continue searching for the Dooley's of 2007 replacement. read more

I bought a single egg bagel (because a good egg bagel sets the standard IMO) and a bacon egg and cheese on jalapeno cheddar bagel - just to be fancy. The bagels are perfect, that smooth, slightly crunchy exterior, that soft, but still substantial, interior. Flavor is excellent, yep these are as good as what you can buy in New York. The bagel was crispy outside and chewy inside as it should be. The biggest problem we had was which way the order line should go. The staff was super nice and helpful in explaining all the options in building my bagel. I ordered an egg& cheese bagel, adjusted my cheese option and added some options. Fantastic bagels, but more of a carryout type of vibe. Options are limited, and they aren't super hospitality-oriented, but the bagels are definitely worth it.
