    Turkey Club on jalapeño bagel

Well worth the money! They are not skimpy on the portions--bagels are loaded. I've had breakfast and lunch bagels and can't complain about either. I like the jalapeño bagel because it has just a little heat to it.

Really good bagel shop! The bagels are fresh, perfectly chewy on the inside with that nice crisp outside. I had the lox bagel sandwich and it was fantastic! My partner had the egg, cheese and sausage bagel. The staff is super friendly and the service is quick, even when it's busy. Great spot for breakfast or to grab something on the go--I'll definitely be back!!

On a recent trip to the Louisville Zoo we decided to stop in to Maya Bagel Express before heading to our destination. We'd been by it a number of times and thought it was about time we try it. Maya Bagel Express is an order-at-the-counter, we'll-call-your-order-number-when-it's-ready kind of place. We took a few minutes to look over the menu and then ordered. While the menu isn't extensive, it has enough to handle your breakfast or lunch needs. My wife had a breakfast sandwich and I ordered the Roast Beef. Maya Bagel Express doesn't have a soft drink fountain but does have a very large cooler of beverages for you to chose from. Bottled water, soft drinks, energy drinks, and fruit drinks are all available. There are about a dozen tables and high-tops for dining in, as well as a few umbrella-covered tables outside. Our visit was on Memorial Day and we got lucky that the weather was amazing. The gentleman at the counter took our order and answered any question we had easily, and we had a few because it was our first visit. He helped with a recommendation and we very pleasant. Food delivery took less than ten minutes and our orders accurate and tasty. My wife's breakfast sandwich was HOT, so it had to sit for a minute. My roast beef sandwich wasn't heated, so I dug right in. My sandwich was REALLY good. I've come to appreciate the fact that Boar's Head meats, while a little pricier, are well worth the extra you pay for them. My only suggestion for the roast beef sandwich would be adding fresh onion and maybe some horseradish...but that's me. The restaurant was clean when we arrived and we saw someone come out to clean a couple tables while we were there. Our first visit to Maya Bagel Express was 100% awesome...and now we have a lunch destination before heading to the Zoo. While I'm kind of bummed that this is the only location, sometimes locally owned businesses shine well enough on their own.

Stopped in for a quick bite, the restaurant was clean and service was quick. I ordered the bacon egg and cheese on a jalapeño cheese bagel and my partner ordered the lox sandwich also on an jalapeño and cheese bagel. My bagel was okay, I didn't taste any jalapeño in my bagel and I should have asked for it to be toasted longer. The bacon, egg and cheese were good, it just wasn't anything special, and for $11 I was expecting something tastier!

This was a disappointing visit. Yes, I was cheerfully greeted and my order was taken quickly. But for a $20+ lunch I expected something more substantial. Sandwiches at Jason's or McAlisters offer a better product at comparable pricing. My pastrami was fine. All 2-3 slices. A thin sandwich. Served in a toasted bagel that was very good. I grabbed a bag of chips and immediately noticed they were a tad stale. Sure enough, the "Good Til" date had passed. Want a soft drink? $3.50 lets you choose from their cooler. The same bottle that'll set you back $2 and the 7-11. There's nothing inherently wrong with Maya Bagel. But there's also nothing exceptional. Other than high prices. I suspect their breakfast sandwiches are better. Hopefully offered at a lower price point. For lunch, there are far better deli's to support.

The food and service never lack when I try Maya's! I had the turkey bacon, double egg and cheese on a spinach bagel. It was so good and filling!

Back today and enjoyed a bacon, egg and cheese bagel sandwich on a plain bagel. Do not skip the bacon!!!! It was crispy and they put a great layer of it on the sandwich. My husband also love his pastrami lunch sandwich on a sesame bagel. Quick, friendly service. They move the line fast and the wait at the window was minimal. Seats along the window and a few tables inside and on the patio.

Called my order in. Only took 5 minutes. There was a decent size line at 12pm still. Limited seating inside. Wait staff pleasant. Enjoyed my grilled pastrami bagel, plain cream cheese toasted bagel, and chocolate chip muffin.

Open early which is great because I can stop by on my way to work, staff if always friendly and the restaurant is always clean with some music going! The food is always made fresh and they'll try to make it exactly how you like it!

Nice little spot with seating area inside and out. First time here. I heard about this place through yelper reviews. Maya Bagel Express have been in business for 2 years now. There's plenty of parking and they have several bagel selections to choose from. They also cur your bagel in 1/2 so you don't have to worry about requesting for that. Once you order it doesn't take long for them to get your order. They cook it right on the spot. I have no complaints. Everyone was nice. Food was fresh, establishment was clean, no long wait. Even though there was a line, people were moving right along. Oh and most important they have an "A". They do have a restroom. There's a private sign for people not to walk through, but the restroom door is right next to it.

This place is so good. I have heard so much about New York bagels and how good they are. If they are like these then I'm sold.

Best bagel in Louisville. We drive out of the way to eat here. If you like a toasted bagel, ask about getting it "that way".

When we came here we did not realize that Proof on Main is a not only a wonderful restaurant/bar but also a 24/7 free museum. You can order drinks and then walk through the exhibits. We just opted to eat breakfast first. As soon as you enter, you are standing in a colorful and fun art museum. The walls are adorned with many different types of art from living artists. The staff also encourages you to walk through the dining room and if able they will walk along as your own private docent, explaining a lot of what you see. We had to pause the dining room and bar exhibit tour for a short time to have breakfast which included: - BREAKFAST SANDWICH - Scratch Biscuit, House Sausage, - FRENCH TOAST - Ricotta, Strawberry, Pistachio - BISCUITS & GRAVY - House Sausage Gravy, Sunny Eggs, Chili Crisp Scrambled Eggs, Melty Cheese, Hash-brown - STEEL CUT OATMEAL - Spiced Apple Butter, Apples, Candied Walnuts I will not go items by item but I will say that everything was so perfect-tasty-fresh. The portions are very robust here and I am sure no one goes aways hungry. They have a lot of unique twists on items as you can see by the menu we had. After breakfast, we resumed our tour of the main floor then the basement. It's hard to describe just how large the viewing area is and all spots within the area are used for some kind of art display... Even the bathroom. Everything is so unique and I tried to capture a fair amount of it in photographs and information about the piece as well. This too should be a must visit if your in the Louisville area. Set aside an hour or two to stop in and relax with some great food and art. KUDOs to the team at Proof on Main.

My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I came here two Fridays ago ahead of a bourbon tour (thinking, correctly, that we should probably have a hearty meal beforehand so we didn't end up face-first in a gutter somewhere). Several Kentucky natives told us that we had to try a Hot Brown during our visit, and since it was literally created at the Brown Hotel, this seemed like the logical spot. The actual Hotel has some gorgeous interiors, especially upstairs in the lobby. We didn't see that area until after our meal, so when we laid eyes on the Lobby Bar & Grill, we knew immediately that that was where we SHOULD have gone for this Hot Brown dish. J. Graham's, I'm sorry to say, doesn't have the history and personality of the rest of the building and just looks like a generic breakfast spot you'd find in any hotel. It probably exists solely because the other dining options in the hotel aren't open until later and they want to give tourists and their own customers a place to eat at all times of the day, which isn't a terrible reason in my book. But it's also unfortunately not very good, and the dirty walls and overall meh appearance of the establishment just make it very clear that the hey day for this hotel overall was decades ago. The service was the biggest miss here. Our waitress was scatterbrained, often not around or around but hanging out with co-workers or talking up other customers. It was honestly pretty mystifying because when she DID come by, she was often overly apologetic and trying to make amends. But the best way to make amends is not to have to keep doing that throughout the meal. She forgot my friend's coffee (didn't write anything down when we ordered, which is fine if you remember everything but...) and when my chum asked what was in the hummus (one of just three apps), she didn't know and had to go ask someone in the kitchen. That's arguably a nitpick and she DID try to figure it out, but the lunch menu is pretty small and it was a little odd that her menu knowledge was that limited. The bigger problem was that we were in there for over half an hour longer than we wanted to be because she wouldn't come by our table. I actually actively looked for her on the way to the bathroom so I could remind her to come to our table, but instead found her off to the side gossiping with other staff. Not a good look at all. So this might have been an overall positive experience if some of the hospitality from the hotel had spilled over here. We actually both enjoyed the apps, which were the only real positives of the experience. The Bourbon Barrel Fries and the Two Timer, featuring Smoked Bourbon Hummus (bourbon tends to be the theme of your days in this town, I've found) were both really good, and I probably ate more of those than the actual entree. The fries were cooked perfectly and were well seasoned/addictive. The Hot Brown was fine for what it was (we split it to try). It's basically a dramatic turkey melt, with slices of turkey coated in cheese and other sauces. It also came with strips of bacon on top, which on a personal palate level I didn't think really helped the dish so I barely nibbled on those. It's definitely a solid entry but it wasn't mind-blowing for either of us. Maybe it's just from where we come from in the Northeast, but I'm conditioned to like my turkey with accompanying stuffing, and usually in the latter part of November. I think it felt kind of weird to be eating turkey with warm cheese. But I'm glad we tried it and got the context at least. You might have a completely different experience with better service, but I'd still recommend going upstairs for any dining. It's a much better atmosphere and you can really appreciate where this hotel fits in the chronology of Louisville. You're not going to get that from going here.
