I wanted to like it but it's the worst piece of jewelry I own - the clasp is very tiny and hard to put on, and the chain is really thin and constantly develops knots in it that I've spent hours trying to get out to no avail. The quality is very poor for how expensive they are - I would never recommend buying a necklace from here. There are much better quality jewelry elsewhere that will give you joy to wear, and not anger and frustration! After eyeing my sister's gorgeous MB necklace for years, I ordered one of my own for my birthday, and love it so much. I got the gold chain with tiny turqouise stones- perfect for summer. Just as fantastic as the necklace is MB's customer service- they are super quick to reply and give personal assistance. For example, I had a unique shipping need that they accommodated, and when my necklace broke, they were quick to help me get it fixed even from outside of the country. Yes, the necklace was pricey (which is why I considered it carefully for a couple years first), but I'd rather have a few nice pieces rather than heaps of cheap ones that I don't super love. MB is worth it, in my opinion. The one thing I would consider when ordering again is that the little stones on my necklace don't catch the light as much as the letters on my sister's necklace do, so if you want something more noticeable, go with the letters. Ordered a single letter bracelet which broke within 2 months at the juncture of the chain and letter. Took several weeks for the company to ship me a return envelope to send it in for repair, and several weeks to receive the repaired bracelet. Once it was received, the chain was so stretched out it could fall off my hand and wrist. The cheap clasp broke as well. $100 out of pocket to shorten the bracelet and replace the clasp at local jeweler. Save yourself the money and have a dupe made with your local jeweler. read more

I was nervous that I would have trouble doing so, as I almost exceeded the return window. I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth and quick the process went. All of my emails were responded to within a few business hours, and the woman who assisted me, Clare, was very accommodating. She clearly explained to me the process, and answered all of my questions. The necklace I ordered was a little cheaper than the one I was returning, so a store credit for the difference of $30 was given. However, I preferred to have this amount refunded to the original form of payment. Clare gladly accepted my request, and issued a refund quickly. I was SO happy with how accommodating she was. I love my 16" letter necklace! However, it broke a year after I received it, and when I shipped it back for repair, they measured it at 18.5 inches, and returned it to me at this length. Having not had many necklaces repaired, I didn't think to measure the necklace prior to sending it back. When I inquired, MB staff responded that this stretch was common/expected with daily wear. This surprised me, and I would have thought they might suggest shortening it back to the length that I orginally purchased. The necklace has since broken again (2 weeks after I received it back from first repair), so I took it to a local jeweler. This jeweler said he would not expect a 14K gold necklace to stretch with wear... and especially 2.5 inches, which changed the necklace from choker length to other. Anyway, just a word of caution if you are looking to order. Seems like a necklace of this value should not be of the quality where it would stretch so much after one year. I do love the style and the feel, but I'm disappointed with the stretch, and the response from the repair team. read more

DO NOT BUY from this company! You've been warned! My husband bought me a necklace from here for about $420 plus shipping. Unfortunately it was too short so I contacted customer service to add additional length. I've been told that it's not possible and that I can only add a permanent or non-permanent extension. That didn't work for me. After a few email exchanges they finally said I can add the length but that I have to pay shipping back & forth, insure the necklace and pay an additional $25 for the extra length. I did that and paid an extra $50+ just to have the extra 2" length. Upon receiving the necklace, I realized letter H gets stuck and tangles itself in the necklace due to the poor design, letter E turns the other way, and the necklace is extremely thin and prone to breakage extremely fast and sits so awkwardly on the neck due to being so thin and not being able to properly hang on the neck. I requested a refund and I've been told that I have to pay the shipping fee to ship it back to them. Are you kidding me?! My husband just spent $500+ for a crappy necklace and you want me to pay about $100 in shipping and insuring the necklace to be able to get a $400 refund?! Seriously I've NEVER heard of a company charging 4 times a shipping fee, which is what Maya Brenner did to me! I don't recommend buying ever from this place! They don't care to offer good customer service and therefore, all their negative reviews on Yelp are true! When you charge $400+ for a tiny necklace that should cost no more than $100 you should offer free shipping and free repairs/extensions. That's NOT the case here and really be careful buying from here because in the case your necklace breaks, be ready to pay shipping fees back & forth, untangling fee of $15 (really!) and repair fees and all possible fees for a scam company to make extra money! You are better off buying the same style of a necklace from Etsy from local artists at a quarter of the price from here! read more

I called customer service and I truly wish there was a "how to" recording for other businesses and vendors to listen and learn. The customer service rep was firstly apologetic, followed by immediate steps to rectify the matter. My disappointing packaging was done by Neiman Marcus' online ordering and not Maya Brenner. In a short period of time....like minutes, after I sent my email to them with the details, I received confirmation and again an apology. The second email within 8 minutes of the first stated that the new gift box, ribbon and enclosure were already shipped!! Now if that's not excellent customer service, then I don't know what is! Maya Brenner Design's "Assymetrical Necklace" is all the rage - as long as you dont need any alteration! Prince Harry bought one for his girlfriend which drove the success of the design and generated tons of business for Brenner. Unfortunately for some companies success can even be worse than failure. Especially companies who cannot provide customer service. I purchased one for my wife as a Valentine's Day present. Turns out the chain that is rather short. For some people that works, but in our case we needed it lengthened. I called the store and explained the situation. The person answering indicated that Brenner can extend the chain by adding additional length, or we can purchase an extender on the web. As instructed, I contact customer service via email .... who then promptly turned around and insisted that a custom chain can only be extended via the "extender" sold on the web. Talk about the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. The necklace is nothing fancy. We will take it to another jeweler to add additional length. Like I said, for some companies its more difficult to deal with success than failure. Either the person on the phone or the email rep is providing incorrect information and causing me frustration. Anyone selling jewelry knows that alterations are part of the business. That leaves me a very dissatisfied customer who certainly will not ever make another purchase from Maya Brenner Designs. read more

The charm necklace only works if the letter can be flipped in either direction (e.g. M or H or A). Otherwise they tend to flip in the other direction. I have two initials on the necklace I purchased. One is in the correct direction, but the "L" points in the opposite direction. When I inquired with Customer Service, they said that's how the come and that is the "charm" of the charm. No - it just looks ridiculous and like it was secured to the chain incorrectly. read more

Excellent quality. I've had 2 necklaces that I've pretty much worn permanently for the past three years. Showers, pools, oceans, spas, workouts (sweat). And they look just as good as when I got them. I'm not particularly gentle with them either, and for as delicately beautiful as they are, they've held their own. I just recently placed a new order for a few items I've had my eye on. I travel a lot and am never at one address for too long, so I was concerned about the shipping time. Luckily I had seen on the website they recommend if that's the case, you reach out to them directly so they can see what may already be in inventory (hence can be shipped out right away). I'm so glad I did, because a few of the items were available and a few were going to take more time. I received a response immediately. I would say it was less than an hour from the time I emailed to the time I received the shipping confirmation for the items I ended up ordering that were in inventory. 48 hours later I had my new jewelry. They really did a great job communicating and then providing customer service. Yes, there are other places you can find letter jewelry, etc. or similar design concepts, but nothing with the quality and look like Maya's and nothing that's going to last the wear and tear. Today (four months later) the chain broke where it attaches to one of the initials. The necklace was overpriced to begin with (I would have told my husband to get a better quality product locally and for much less), but on top of that, they want me to spend another $75US (I'm in Canada) shipping it back to them for shipping costs and repairs. If it broke after only four months, why would I want to spend that much Money getting a crappy product fixed ?! My local jeweller just messaged me that she can fix it for $15cdn! Ridiculous!! You have been warned. Do NOT order from them. You can do SO much better ! As an appropriate remedy and good customer service, they should have offered to pay for me to ship my broken necklace back to them and they should have immediately shipped me a replacement.
