I stopped by Maya's Cookies on my birthday to try their vegan cookies. The shop is really cute and in a nice area. They had several flavors, and I tried the famous everythig cookie -- it was sweet but not overly so - good and moist which is very important. I was disappointed they didn't offer any non-dairy milk, which would have really completed the experience. Also, $5 per cookie feels a bit pricey. I'm glad I tried this adorable shop. Arguably the best cookies in San Diego. They have an affordable happy hour for chocolate chip cookies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4 PM till 5 PM. Super great if you want a good quality cookie. I can't believe they're vegan because they're so tasty. All of their flavors are so good. The best cookies! Maya's Cookies are my all time favorite! I have been supporting her since she was at all of the Farmer's Markets in Orange County, around 2007. Back then, the cookies were $2. Now they're $4.50 each. Half a dozen is $26 and a dozen is $50. Maya's Cookies are big, slightly crunchy on the outside, with a nice chew, and soft on the inside... and they just happen to be VEGAN too. They have the ABSOLUTE PERFECT TEXTURE! I always buy at least half a dozen each time I go. You can't really go wrong with any of her cookies. Maya now has 2 locations in the San Diego area, and an online shop where you can get a monthly subscription to her Cookie Love Club. Maya's Cookies needs to open a location in Orange County! I would be going there a few times a week lol! My favorite cookies are the Marble Fudge, Birthday, Walnut Chocolate Chunk, Brown Sugar Butterscotch, and Drunken Grandma (oatmeal raisin). I love all their cookies except for the chocolate chip cookie and snickerdoodle. I wished I lived closer to their shops so I could go to Happy Hour on Tues/Wed from 4-5pm when their chocolate chip cookies are only $2. Wish Happy Hour included their regular cookies. After many many years of enjoying Maya's Cookies via pop-ups, we finally had the opportunity to visit one of the stores! My long history with Maya's Cookies started at vegan food events in Long Beach. It was always a memorable experience because of the variety of tasty flavors. There were a few times that we were in San Diego but the store hours were never open while we were in town. So when I found out we would be in the San Marcos area, we prioritized a visit to Maya's new CSUSM location. We were greeted immediately by a friendly young man behind the cookie counter. My family and I went to Wynston's Ice Cream Co. and Mya's cookie shop is right next to it. You literally can open a door and walk right into Maya's from Wynston's. I'm more of a chocolate guy but the Birthday Cake cookie was far better than the chocolate chip one. I'd get that Birthday Cake cookie every time. There was nothing wrong with the Classic Chocolate Chip but the chocolate was not as sweet as I prefer. It was very fresh and still tasted great but it didn't knock me over.
