I'm seriously confused as to why this spot has such low ratings. I was craving teriyaki today and after realizing that Maya Teriyaki House is one of the few teriyaki establishments in the area that sells yakisoba, I immediately placed a phone order. My brother and mom opted for the steak yakisoba and I ordered the chicken yakisoba for myself. My mom originally had requested both steak and chicken in her yakisoba however, the man on the phone was reluctant on adding both proteins and insisted on only one meat per yakisoba. This sort of thing has always been a pet peeve of mine because I understand that it only includes one protein but wouldn't they just be able to charge me for a side of meat and add it to the final product? *sigh* Besides that little face palm moment, I can vouch that the food here definitely speaks for itself. My chicken yakisoba was a 10/10 for me and the portion was huge enough for me to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner altogether lol. Prices are great for the portion and quality of food being served here. I also ordered two sides of egg rolls but they weren't my favorite. The inside was just too mushy for my liking. Overall, Maya Teriyaki House isn't one of those aesthetically pleasing restaurants nor influential foodie spots. This spot is a hidden gem tucked away in Paramount that is adored by locals yet criminally underrated here on Yelp. Came in the other day and got their Yakisoba beef, which came out to be $15 out the door. The place is actually pretty big inside although could use a refresh. Definitely showing its age. The person who took my order seems like a nonsense guy but seems nice. Noodles tasted pretty good, nothing to write home about but it served its purpose and portion size was great. read more

It's good for the price. The sad part was that they had brown rice before now they don't but it's still reasonable and a good price.

Everything about this place is a NO go!! There is no way in hell this place got an "A" rating by just the looks of it, that rating is absolutely a lie! First, I wanted a chicken & beef bowl with veggies instead of rice and he told me I had to get the veggie & meat plate, which in the picture showed rice. I told him no I just want the bowl with veggies and he refused and said if I wanted veggies, i had to get the plate. I told him nevermind i'll just take the bowl with rice and he charged me for the veggie and meat plate anyway, that cost more. The price I wouldn't have minded if it was good but it wasn't worth the extra money and would have definitely gone clear across town to our regular "real" japanese food restaurant instead of here. Next, the place was gross. You could tell it was an older spot but it was not clean. The chairs you sit on were disgusting!! It had holes in the chair, covered in what looked like old oil, it was stained with black gunk from what seems like 20 years of food and junk just sitting on them. The walls were disgusting as well and looked just as filthy. The food was not even good enough to review. It lacked flavor and the beef was so overcooked it tasted like charred crispy stuff you get from the bbq. Chicken was dry as well and I think thats why they gave us extra bottles of siracha and teriyaki sauce! I'd say the best part of my meal was the steamed veggies which i paid extra for and would have rather just ate instead. Overall, I would 10/10 NEVER recommend! You're better off going somewhere else, like right next door to Japanaese Castle which we thought to go to first but was in a rush to get something quick before heading to run errands. If you think you might want to try it, THINK AGAIN, and then walk away! I wish I would have gotten some photos but all I was thinking was let's get the heck on out of here! NEVER AGAIN! read more

The Asian guy at the register is unfriendly and rude, he's does not great, smile, give info about items and rushes you to place your order, even when I was the only one waiting to place an order. No bells and whistles just healthy, good tasting food at a low price. We usually get the kids bowl which consista of grilled chicken, rice, teriyaki cause and green onions (ask for it). Kids bowl is more than big enough for any adult, let alone a kid. We also get the California Rolls which come with a Miso soup. I'm telling you this place punches way above it's weight. Can't beat the price, $5 for the kid's bowl and like $7 for 10 California roll suchies. read more

Edit: Just tried the actual food. Ramen is like Top Ramen. I ended up just eating pizza. Don't waste your money. The register guy was unfriendly to start. You'd think during this COVID thing people would be nicer. He gave me the bag with the soup ALREADY on the bottom of the bag. I saw his tie it with the soup on the bottom. THEN I discover that the lid wasn't put on right... the noodles were on the OUTSIDE of the bowl. I will NEVER come back here. This is my go to teriyaki spot. The place looks run down inside and outside, but their chicken teriyaki bowls are what keep me coming back. I also always get the California roll, and while I wouldn't consider this a place to get sushi, I actually really enjoy it. It's super good IMO. The employees and owner are always serious. They either play coast 103.5 or a Spanish station as background music, which is why I love coming here as well. This place definitely needs a makeover, but overall I've never had a bad experience here and I come as often as I can. Came here at a suggestion from a friend for their sushi. Don't let the name fool you, it's a teriyaki house that plays Mexican music. No issue there, just...weird. Continuing on, I order two rolls of sushi and decide to venture out and get a chicken katsu plate. The rolls were decent, not the best, but worth it's $7. The Katsu however was uber burnt, to the point where you couldn't eat it. So for this, they get a 2 star rating. In the 30 mins I was here with my friends they had a constant flow of customers. So despite the burnt katsu, there must be something that keeps the customers coming. Suggestions: crunch roll, shrimp tempura, and chicken teriyaki bowl. read more

Came here a day after first trying them. Came on a sunday. On google and yelp it says they open at 10am but on their menu the actual opening says 10:30am. So I pull up on a sunday morning at about 10:15am because me and my partner were really craving sushi and teriyaki. While sitting in the parking lot in the front row, the owner comes out and puts a hand written sign "sunday open 11am". So we sat there waiting for 45mins. The owner kept coming out to get something from his car and we made eye contact 3 times. When he finally opened it was just him and we walked in as soon as the doors were opened. There was no friendly greeting nor happy vibes. He knew we waited for a long time yet he didnt apologize for opening late. I tried to order the $3.25 chicken bowl. I said, "could I please get a chicken bowl?" He said "which one?" & I assumed he meant the plate or bowl? So I said "the small round bowl" & pointed at the flyer that said $3.25 for chicken bowl but since I said the "Small" one, he stopped at that. When I got the receipt i realized he charged me almost $5 for a "small" bowl. The $3.25 is actually the kids size, which isnt even that much smaller. Apparently you have to say you want the kids size. First time I came here I just said small and the guy gave me the $3.25 one no questions asked. DO NOT come here if you want to be dissapointed. First off, as soon as I walked in, I knew I should have trusted my instinct and walked out. The inside is trashy and dirty. My second mistake was to actually order food after seeing how dirty the place looks, AND the only Asian man with the glasses that took my order is RUDE. I ordered the shimp tempura, shrimp/veggie bowl and french fries. Total came out to $17 and change, which is not bad. I give the shrimp tempura a 3/10 taste/flavor wise, although it did smell a little spoiled (i hope i dont get food poisoning). The shrimp/veggie bowl for me was a 0/10. The shrimps smelled and tasted putrid. When I took my first bite of the shrimp, I immediately spit it out. I tried just eating the vegetables, but after taking a bite of the cabbage, I also spit it out. It was flavorless and tasted like complete water. I ended up throwing the entire bowl in the trash. The fries were an 8/10, like I expected from a place like this, because how can you mess up fries? I honestly do not know how some people are leaving good reviews for this place. Place is average. The girl at the counter has no personality at all, seems that she dreads to be at work. This place is dead at 2:00 pm no one in here at all. I ordered a dragon roll the guy has pre made rolls because the shrimp inside the dragon roll taste like it was cooked 2 hours ago.
