Very nice market and café in a gas station lot. We stumbled upon it getting lost with no GPS service. The cashier was so kind to tell us the wifi password so we could find our way back on the map! I was on my way to a winery and I needed some food badly! There was really nothing around, and I passed this spot and figured it would be the only spot I would see before getting to the winery in about 5 minutes. Being connected to a BP, I was under the impression it was just going to be some basic gas station food, but WOW I WAS WRONG!!! When I went in, there were many options for food, from popular packaged brands and several bakeries to a full restaurant where you could order fried chicken, sandwiches and many sides. They seemed to specialize in Boar's Head products, as well. I decided to order a fried chicken sandwich with pimiento called the Green Dragon and mac n cheese bites. Both were quite DELICIOUS!! Good challah bun, good chicken, and the Mac n cheese bites were a hit with the sweet & sour sauce. My friend and I picked up several reasonably priced desserts, such as an array of donuts, chocolate cake, whoopie pie, and a cookie. The glazed custard donut really stood out, but everything was awesome! I was pleased to accidentally stumble upon this place and was glad for it to surprise me in so many ways. An awesome spot to get a great meal. Happened to be cruising backroads looking for some land for sale and popped up on this spot. I had to stop in and I'm sure glad i did. Finally made it out to Dyke to try Maybelle's. I have seen them on both Yelp and Facebook. Their specials catch my eye, but have to plan ahead to make the drive. It is a good 25 minutes from the house in a secluded area of Greene County. I made on Friday to pick up dinner and take home. I ordered the Friday fish special. The fish was good. The batter had a kick. It was unexpected, but added a dimension to the food. It came with hushpuppies, but unfortunately when we made it home they were very mushy. They were out of cole slaw so I substituted their cajun potatoes. They were very good. They were well seasoned. I would hope people weren't scared off by the cajun name. My wife had the Celt Melt and it was the best thing we had. I would order that everytime going back. Overall a really cute store. It is a BP gas station, but converted the building to house a nice kitchen/restaurant. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Maybelles has everything you would expect at a convenience store including a variety of drinks, desserts, and coffee. They have a beer cave and a small wine selection. They do deliver into Stanardsville and Ruckersville on certain days. That might be a better fit for me due to the ease of pickup there. read more

Have been very pleased with all the fare from the kitchen as well as the local products offered in the store. The Baron sandwich is delicious! Also the recent chocolate peppermint roll was a wonderful holiday dessert. Only complaint is that on two or three separate occasions we've called ahead for to-go orders, been put on hold and forgotten (we called back 5-7 mins after being on hold). Hopefully this is a service glitch that will improve. read more

Fantastic addition to the community! Not only is it nice to have a gas station/convenience store in Dyke, the deli makes it worth the drive from anywhere in the area. Folks are now driving 20+ minutes to eat at Maybelle's as opposed to driving into Ruckersville or Charlottesville. They have rotating specials (e.g. chicken and dumplings, fish, tacos, reubens, etc.), plus a standard sandwich, pizza, and fried chicken menu. My favorite from our visit was the Celt Road Melt. I believe they have started delivery on certain days around lunch time and could see this sandwich becoming a weekly treat. Looking forward to trying more of the menu! read more

Not sure what I expected but I found it overpriced, cheaply made and greasy. I mean, it's a gas station so, duh. Kind of lipstick on a pig kind of situation. The whole thing, with the pavilion and everything, just seems weirdly out of scale but people, largely tourists I think, must be happy the came across a place to eat way out there, I would not go back.. read more

Discovered this gem as we recently bought land on Flattop mountain, what a wonderful place to have in proximity. The sandwiches are excellent. Have yet to explore the specials menus, but will in time. Could not be more pleased Maybelles is around, well worth the 30 minute drive down the mountain! read more

When I first visited this establishment- the sandwiches were good with a generous portion but now the sandwiches are have the size with a considerable increase in price. The other day a customer tried to pay for gas with cash because he forgot his wallet and he was told that he would have to show ID (what don't you understand about forgetting my wallet?). And to add to this, the cashier yelled to the customer as he was leaving "you have a nice day!" It was not what she said but the arrogance in her tone. Very unfortunate. Maybelle's is a local favorite! We live just down the road and we are so excited to have such a great spot so close by! The pizza is crazy good! Like crazy good. Plus the pulled pork sandwiches are amazing. The banana pudding is like your grandma's. The atmosphere is really warm and inviting. You can grab your food and sit inside or take it to go. Plus everything is reasonably priced and a great spot to grab grocery items that you may need. Highly recommend. read more

Awesome place for food in an area. We were riding around and saw this on Yelp. Partial to the name for that was my grandmother name so how could we go wrong right? Well we weren't disappointed at all!!! We saw how nice the outside was and when we walked in it was wow this is really nice. The staff were friendly the choice of food was good. Prepared and you can order food. They have your convenience store items along with prepackaged snacks. We asked what the most ordered items are and the young lady gave us two for sure. The Baron and the Celt Road Melt. Oh my good the Celt sandwich was out of this world. We had the cheeseburger and the High top Italian. I also substituted the fries for the sweet potato casserole. The cheeseburger was ok but the other items were delicious. The rest rooms were very clean also. They sold some area wines in there also. They had some tables inside and outdoor seating also. Stopped in this new place last evening on a hunch for a quick dinner meal as my wife was out of town. Noticed the fried chicken, but to be honest with you, it didn't look that great. I figured nothin' from nothin' leaves nothin' so I tried the eight piece box. Well, looks can be deceiving!!!!!!!!!!! the breading was crispy and tasty, and the chicken tender, juicy, and delicious! A definite 9 on a scale of 10! Friendly staff, too. Give them a try, its as good or better than any other chicken in town. read more

This place exceeded all expectations!!!! At first I was skeptical ... a gas station / restaurant in the middle of nowhere? But the facility was beyond clean, staff were friendly and accommodating, and it was a true one stop shop - gas, groceries, and one of the tastiest sandwiches I've had in a long time (turkey, Brie, caramelized onions...).
