Ybor City is an amazing enclave in Tampa filled with rich history. We were on the hunt for icecream while walking the area and stumbled upon Mayday Ice Cream. The staff were so kind and patient with my kids. It wasn't busy and they let them have as many samples as they wanted to ensure their satisfaction once they ordered their "pilot" (single scoop) of icecream. Mayday Ice Cream has fun and funky flavors like lavender tea, parent trap (Oreo cookies and peanut butter add ins) and more! The establishment was clean and well maintained. The staff went over and above, really making the experience special. They even offered to go containers and a foil bag to help keep the ice cream from melting when my kids felt full. They were so patient with us as we sampled flavors, and with our multiple orders. The blackberry earl grey really stood out, and we also got the cookie crunch (c&c basically) and parents trap (peanut butter oreo). They give you waffle crisps and sprinkles if you want on ice cream. read more

I love trying new ice cream shops and unique flavors. We stopped here after lunch for dessert. Cute little shop. Was not crowded at all during a weekday early afternoon. We had found street parking on the main street earlier. It's location on the street with the trolley and right across a stop. Didn't even bother with samples. Of course, we got the 6 scoop flight to share and each picked 3 of what we thought sounded good: key lime, triple vanilla, mango lassi, straight strawberry, blue sky blues, blackberry earl. Not everything tasted as expected, but not necessarily a bad thing. I think I enjoyed the earl grey the most. The ice cream scoop bathroom key was cute but probably not the most hygienic thing. The ice cream here is amazing! We were on our way back to Orlando and wanted to get some ice cream so we hopped off i-4 and came here. Very clean, and the customer service was amazing. They also have pints to take home, so I did end up taking the chocolate flavored one with the brownie bites because it was that good. My s/o loved the salted caramel flavor. We were excited to stop by this ice cream shop and specifically walked over to visit, only to have a very disappointing experience. When we entered, the staff was conducting an interview during business hours and completely ignored us for several minutes while we waited. We eventually walked out without getting anything. I hope management considers handling interviews more professionally in the future or ensuring someone is still available to assist customers during operating hours. This place was excellent! We were in the area for dinner and craved some ice cream so we popped in here. They had so many unique flavors, and the man working there was very kind and let us sample whichever ones looked good to us. I sampled the Miso honey flavor and the Cloud 9 and both were so delicious. I ended up going with classic Midnight chocolate and it was perfect. If you like mint, the Mint Monster will be your dream. The inside of the store is very welcoming and bright, and the location also has some tables outdoor that you can enjoy your treat from. My wife wanted to try "The Aviator," which features chocolate and hazelnut Nutella ice cream with cookie chunks and chopped hazelnuts. Absolutely DELICIOUS! We kept it straightforward and got 2 scoops: one Nutella and the other triple vanilla. The scoops were massive, more than enough to satisfy. The flavor? Good enough to make this our go-to ice cream spot. The ice cream was so delightful, I could easily call it Ice Scream, because the taste is so amazing, it might just make you scream with joy. I brought my 3 year old nephew in for an after school treat and he ordered the ice cream with ores and the cashier kindly offered him some sprinkles to top it. Maybe the issue was that I was trying to be adventurous and ordered the bourbon glazed pecan ice cream with a shot of espresso, so an affogato... hated it. There are a variety of vegan flavors (which are also Gluten free) but I opted for the Oreo ice cream with the (free) homemade sprinkles! Both of my flavors were a 10/10. Great taste, and actually blended well together!
