I am of the opinion that when I'm traveling, if there is a unique or local flavor, I would prefer to try that over a typical flavor. So here I got some sort of wedding thing that had lemon curd and berry in it so it satisfied my craving! I think most people start getting a little annoyed if customers want to sample and there's a line building up, but she was so nice and even offered suggestions of what went well with each other since we were doing half scoops. We ended up either the gooey cake and salted peanut butter flavor in a waffle cone. I liked that their waffle cone had a tiny bit of salt in it. I think if we hadn't gotten the salted peanut butter, the salt in the waffle cone would've done a good job in breaking up some of the sweetness level in other flavors. I was contemplating what to eat for lunch when my husband spied the Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream shop. Unbeknownst to us, Jeni's is a chain, but this was the first time that we had come across one of their franchises. Jeni's standard serving is two scoops, served either in a waffle cone (extra $) or cup (served with small waffle cone wedge -- for about $7. We were impressed by the creative flavors that were available, including brown butter almond brittle; salted caramel; and bramble berry crisp. There are also non-dairy flavors available. Both the regular and non-dairy ice creams were creamy and delicious; in fact, the non-dairy was just as creamy as the regular ice cream. The wild berry lavender is just what you'd expect , very strong berry notes with a powerful lavender kick mixed in this one might've had a tad too much lavender for me but was more balanced when I ate it with the cone which provides a slightly salty and sweet flavor . The sugar plum has nice amaretti cookie pieces , plum jam that has notes of tart and sweet this was my second favorite. Finally the divine pistachio macaron , the flavors in this are just pistacular I mean each bite sends twirls of pistachio aroma to arouse the senses , a slightest hint of saltiness and a creamy finish that makes me giddy with each bite. Did a quick stop to Sparkman's Wharf for some dessert on our way through Tampa. The place was real busy as people were out watching the NFL game on the big screens. Jeni's ice cream hit the spot with some interesting flavors. I had the wildberry lavender. The combo of the two flavors was perfectly paired and neither overwhelmed the other. My oldest had a scoop of the gooey butter cake. The ice cream featured pieces of cake with a flavor that wasn't too sweet. My husband had the salted Carmel with a waffle cone which was described as fantastic.
