You ever walk into a bar and sit down, and instantly feel completely at home? I sure hadn't, not before I walked into the Mayfair last night. Maybe it's the amazing selection of local liquor and beers, and the amazing cocktails. Or perhaps it's the simple menu, with each meal packing perfectly balanced flavors and fresh, delicious ingredients. Maybe it's the OG entertainment system, with movies constantly playing that make you say , "Oh my god, I haven't seen that since I was a kid...". Or maybe it's the phenomenal staff. But I will tell you, no doubt in my mind, it's their kick ass corn chowda!!! Do yourself a favor, pop into the Mayfair and stay awhile. I am so happy this place is in the neighborhood! Quaint interior with a setup and beer selection that reminds me of Twenty Tap in SoBro. Service was very friendly and efficient. My friend and I both ordered burgers. Both cooked medium (we were not asked a preference) and both delicious! I ordered the sweet potato fries for the extra $2. I was disappointed since they were bland and wish I opted for regular fries like my friend did as they were delicious! I will definitely be back! read more

What a cute little gastropub to stop into on the near east side. We popped in here for just a drink and was greeted by a friendly and helpful wait staff. They have a great beer selection with reasonable prices. It looks like they have a strong/consistent beer selection from Broad Ripple Brew Pub, so if you are a fan of that spot and don't want to venture to BRBP, this is your spot. Had a really nice dinner this evening on the patio with family! I had the Country Fried Chicken, which was delicious! The breading was perfectly crispy, and the gravy was seasoned just right. Amazing that the gravy is vegan, would never have known! My boyfriend loved his burger, too. The fries I had with the beer cheese were crispy and delicious as well. The staff were fun and friendly! Walking into the Mayfair Taproom my feelings were very positive - I was excited to try a new LOCAL establishment and hope to find a place that I'd want to frequent. Unfortunately, those feelings diminished very quickly once the food arrived. The interior of Mayfair is very nice, it provides a warm and cozy feeling of a place that you just want to hang out and enjoy a pint. The beer selection was very decent and turned me on to a brewery down the road from Mayfair! For dinner, my friend and I each had the Mayfair Burger with sweet potato fries. We asked for bacon on the burger, but neither of us received nor were charged. The meat on the burger was almost non-existent, I think you get more on a Whooper Jr. I believe I tasted some of the small amount of Mayfair sauce that was on the burger, but there was hardly enough to ignite my taste buds. The sweet potatoes were very cold, but it's hard to keep those warm. I would suggest finding a way to keeping those hot until it arrives at a table. (Thinking now - the Mayfair sauce could be a good dipping sauce for the sweet potatoes.) I want to try Mayfair Taproom again - but I feel that I didn't get anything out of my $25.00 bill and was still hungry. Shouldn't have to go to another place and have an appetizer to fill up. I hope things turn around and I'll have the courage to go back. If anything I'd be willing to stop in for a few pints. read more

I recently moved to Indy's Near East Side, and Mayfair is a super-short walk from my new place. I've been to Mayfair twice: once for drinks on the patio, and once for dinner and drinks inside. This place is great! Set up like a local English pub, the bar features lots of draft beers and local bottles. We've sampled the chicken bites (delicious!), the burger (juicy and awesome!), and the chicken sandwich with fries (so crispy! so good!). I'm thrilled to have Mayfair on my street and plan to be back again and again. Well done! read more

This is the Cheers place in my urban neighborhood. Mayfair has the feel of an old English pub, a plentiful variety of taps, far better than bar food cuisine, an outdoor patio that is inviting to all, and a staff that knows how to serve well. It's my go-to place to relax and have some good conversation. This is not a sports bar, but there are lots of good sports at Mayfair. The small TV hanging behind the bar plays old VHS movies (silently) that patrons donate (some of the best conversations begin over the movie that happens to be playing). This is a family friendly place. The proprietors live in the neighborhood and love it and act for its good. Aleck, Hilary, and the Mayfair are gems. read more

We stopped in last night after much anticipation. The spot is well laid out and nicely appointed. It looks as though they could probably squeeze a few more tables in in the future if they want, but has a good amount and it is not too loud. They have a good, cheap, beer list with Broad Ripple Brew Pub originals on draft (amongst others). We had the Octoberfest and thoroughly enjoyed it. They also have a small cocktail list that features a lot of quality local spirits. The gin and tonic, featuring 8th day distillery down the street, was crisp and refreshing. We had the turkey melt from the limited food menu and enjoyed it and the accompanying fries. They had a daily special that sounded good, but a little heavy for an 85 degree October day. I hope to try it when I go back! Overall, we were impressed with the neighborhood vibes, cheap beer and food. I hope they expand the food menu a bit, then I think it will warrant a 5-star review. Came here for a few drinks with some friends and was pleasantly surprised. This place has a fantastic beer selection from a lot of local breweries and also has some nice cocktails. The decor is really nice too and gives off the feel of upper scale old time bar. I had the gimlet here and it was great, not watered down and tasted amazing. The bartender and staff were all very friendly and didn't chase us out after last call. If you want to try some good local beers you should definitely come here! read more

We live in the neighborhood and had so much great stuff about this new eatery and entered with proper expectations. They were well met and then some and we are stoked to have Mayfair as a part of our community. The place had a healthy crowd when we entered and we quickly found seating for our group of three away from the bar. The menu is simple but sufficient for such a restaurant meant to mimic a British pub experience with a greater focus on community and warmth than in fancy dishes or exotic drinks. Our group was roundly satisfied with our dishes as well as a drinks and the service was outstanding. Overall a positive experience and very much worth the visit. Fairly small, neighborhood type of establishment with some unique beers, but it was lunch time and I had to stay with iced tea but I did order a burger. I'm a non-drinker so all the beer taps are wasted on me. No brand name sodas, all are crafted. The 2 wraps are tasty. 1 of them has chopped hard boiled egg inside :). The fried boneless chicken with homemade mashed potatoes is delicious, $10. The gravy is vegan & yummy. I don't get why the garnish is chopped green onions. I order mine without it. The black bean burger is tasty. Didn't much care for the sloppy joe. Side green salad is small but yummy. Cole slaw is good but nothing special. Prices are very inexpensive. Megan and Niki do a great job of serving. Menu is limited, which no doubt helps them stay in business. Only 1 soup selection; its homemade. Only the 1 same dessert all 5-6 of my visits so far. My girlfriend and I stopped by this new spot on the Eastside on Friday on our way to the Circle of Lights. Had high Hope's for this place because I live on the Eastside in Little Flower and want to see Eastside restaurants do well. However, this an average at best restaurant. We had the soup, the chicken wrap with a side of sweet potato fries. The soup was really good, the wrap was average but the sweet potato fries was the disappointment. They had come out cold and we asked for new ones only to receive the second round tasting like the same temperature. Not sure if this is just how they are cooked. But that was a disappointment as we both love some good sweet potato fries. The other disappointment was the service. At first this person did a good job, but I guess it was a shift change and didn't bother to let us know this. So, during this period we were not attended too. Therefore, three stars seems fair given that the soup was indeed great tasting, but a disappoint from there. read more
