This is a 5-star dive bar. I loved the experience! Tasty eats, cheap cold beer, and friendly and efficient service. Not the place you go for the latest fusion/ gourmet experience. A place you go for a solid gastro- pub delight and a few cold ones with a friend. Ordered the special of the day- half a pork tenderloin sandwich and a cup of chili. Perfect size meal and very tasty. I've passed this place countless times and always seems to be busy. On recommendation from a coworker, we decided to stop in for a tenderloin. This is definitely a Cheers type place where the staff knows the regulars. You seat yourself! The prices...out of this world! For a second I was worried they only took cash but they take card. This pub is a hole in the wall. It has its own private parking lot with a decent amount of spots. You will find a u-shaped full service bar in the center of the place with dining room seating along the pubs walls. There is not much seating available indoors. They do have a very nice sized patio area with seating, but that is only an option if the weather is nice. This is definitely a bar with its own regulars. They were very familiar with most all of the patrons. They have nice menu that features salads, burgers, tenderloins, sandwiches, nachos, tacos, subs and wraps. They have daily specials, so please be sure to ask your server. I ordered the Big Buffalo Tenderloin with a side of onion rings. It took about 10 minutes for me to get my food. I was fresh and piping hot. The tenderloin was really good, and I am not normally a tenderloin guy. The onion rings were even better. They were the flaky, home style type like I like them. The service was ok. My server was friendly enough. It was a bit slower and less attentive than I was use to. I never got a drink refill and had to wait a while to get my check. This is a cool local pub with televisions placed around the bar, with the walls decorated in mirror signs. The pub has a classic vibe to it and serves some delicious and unique food. Been years since we've been back to the PawnShop Pub. For some reason k was craving the Spinach and Artichoke Dip Sandwich. It was still good but coulda used more bacon. Husband got a hamburger and fries. No complainants. Breadsticks and cheese were kinda a miss. We'd skip them next time. Good service although they were busy. I'm sure lots of regulars. A dear friend of mine was visiting from Austin and hoping to "stock up" on breaded tenderloins while in the Hoosier state, so he recommended that we meet at the Pawn Shop Pub for lunch. Yes, if you squint a bit, you will notice that this establishment was once a famous fast-food fish restaurant with a blue aesthetic and a vaguely pirate-esque name. Upon approach, I noticed a collection of odd and eclectic items peaking at us through the window, much like a Cracker Barrel, but more authentic and fun. Our server was incredible and seemed to capture the "vibe" of this place. She was extremely welcoming and we were treated like regulars. We both ordered the tenderlions with a side of onion rings, and both were served up hot and delicious. Paired up with a few cold beers, and you have yourselves a perfect lunch. I belong to a group on social media that focuses on the Breaded Pork Tenderloin, which is native to the midwest. There are a ton of debates about which state has the best BPT. I'm from Indiana, so I'm on Team Indiana. Those from Iowa, though, are pretty passionate about their sandwiches. BPTs are pounded pork from the tenderloin part of the pig. It is breaded with spices (they're bland without spices) and deep friend. Some people like to pound them so flat that they turn into dry, tasteless things. The Pawn Shop, though, has super BPTs, which are juicy and are the right thickness. They are huge, don't get me wrong, but they aren't floppy flat. Pawn Shop's BPT is served on a bun, with fixins on the side. They do things right. They don't add sauce and all that garbage. They let the pork shine through. Their onion rings are also very good. I highly recommend the BPT from Pawn Shop. Other people in my party ordered other things and are were just as happy with their choices. read more

I met two others here for lunch the week after Christmas. We grabbed one of the last tables, so it's definitely a lunch favorite for many. It's your typical dive bar with beer signs on the wall and pub food. The prices are really cheap (all 3 of us got burgers, with two sodas and one beer for under $40). My burger was fine, but the bun was the star (grilled with butter). The fries were very undercooked. Just had a terrible first experience at Pawn Shop Pub. Was told to sit anywhere and even double checked that someone would get to us if we sat outside, which was confirmed rudely. We sat out there and proceeded to see no workers for at least 10 minutes. There were several other tables near us also not getting served. When the waitress, who was an older woman, finally came out, she looked around and saw the two tables who hadn't been served and said "oh you're new" then went back inside. She came out and served the one table who was already waiting on food, continuing to ignore the unserved tables. After waiting for over 20 minutes and no acknowledgment, we decided to leave. Out of the corner of my husband's eyes he spotted this little hole in the wall so he pulled into the parking lot. Originally located at College & Kessler (where Binkley's is now) and now located on 54th near Keystone, Binkley's is the definition of a neighborhood, hole-in-the-wall with cold beer, a stocked bar, good basic food, and good service & atmosphere. The soups and salads are surprisingly good and grub is your normal bar specialties. They used to have great, thick-cut fries, but they never made the move from College. First time ever trying this spot. I was referred by a friend that RAVED about the Frisco Melt. So I thought I'd try it. I ordered a frisco melt with their version of pepper jack cheese (jalapeños and cheese). I placed 2 orders. My orders were mixed up. I ordered my burger well done (big mistake) and my friend ordered medium well. He ended up with my patty and vice versa. The fries were OVERCOOKED and lacked seasoning. The bacon on the sandwich was burnt/overcooked. The sandwich is supposed to come with sourdough bread...perhaps due to COVID or the condition of the world, there must be a shortage of sourdough so they turned buns inside out. This wouldn't be a big deal had they told me this upon ordering instead of me being surprised when I got my food. I usually don't give places a second chance when they disappoint on first impression...but I may try one more time...maybe I caught them on an off day. read more

We live nearby and in-laws love this place so we all visit frequently. I've personally be eating/drinking at The Pawn Shop for over 30 years. Unfortunately, may change after our most recent outing. We both worked late and were starving. Pawn Shop is 3 mins from home so we went for late dinner and the place was packed. As we began placing our dinner order, a woman behind the bar that neither of us recognized began shouting at our server and waving her arms. Our server then told us that their fryer just went down so we couldn't order food. We said we'll order from the grill and she said the kitchen was closed. Wife and I sat in somewhat disbelief because people at tables all around us were still waiting on their meals and the kitchen wasn't scheduled to close for another 20-30 mins. Our server picked up our disappointment and walked back to double-check with someone that there was absolutely nothing AT ALL we could order to eat. No cold sandwiches, no apps, no chips. Nothing. This is when poor timing and kitchen equipment failure turned into shady rude dishonest behavior. Our drinks then arrived (with our check, without us asking for it) and and as we sat there discussing the unusually strange / shady experience, we watched plates of food being served to tables all around us and guys at the bar. And 5 mins later, a plate of bacon went to folks next to us and the woman behind the bar that yelled kitchen was "closed" as we placed our order approached a guy enjoying a steak and said his French fries would be "right out". We walked to our car shaking our heads discussing how our decades long fondness of this place just turned very sour. My wife's a K-5 teacher with the patience and optimism of a Buddhist priest. She makes excuses for every bad driver on the road and lectures me on flowing around my obstacles and not speaking negative words aloud, she captures spiders and ants in jars to release outdoors, she rescues cats and dogs, etc. etc. But on this occasion, she was more upset than I've ever seen her and had no kind words or excuses for anyone working at this bar on this night. We always tip +20%, we're as laid back as it gets, my wife served tables in a CO ski town for several years after college and is now overly polite and respectful to servers, we never send food back or complain its too hot or cold, and frankly, never spend our time writing a review like this. Ever. But in this case, we agreed its time to make an exception. A regular customer to a place like this might expect the management to visit our table and perhaps offer a round of comp drinks in this situation vs yelling from behind the bar as she turned her back to us. By this time, it was too late to drive anywhere else for our dinner. Besides, we'd just been fed a BS story about the kitchen suddenly experiencing catastrophic failure less than 30 minutes before it's scheduled close then watched food orders to multiple tables pour out of the kitchen. No offer of comp drinks, no rain check for next time, no offer of chips and or any app's they could have heated up, zilch. It was the strangest and rudest bar experience we've ever had anywhere as a couple or individually. And my wife's eaten dinner on nearly every continent on this planet. IMO, it says ALOT when the Indy Pawn Shop takes the #1 Spot in the world for the rudest/shady dining experience, ever. Perhaps they have a new manager because as previously mentioned, neither of us recognized the woman behind the bar who waved off our server as we were ordering and walked away without explanation, without looking at us directly, without the slightest hint of an apology, and perhaps with a touch of bitterness and/or hostility. If she is the Manager, the Pawn Shop might not be a good fit for her. And vise versa. Bottom line: This strange experience changed our thoughts about The Pawn Shop and we wont be returning for some time, if ever frankly. And since my wife shared our story with both her parents last night, they wont be going either. And they both meet friends there on occasion so this story will cascade across our small network. Side bar: the cocktail I ordered was the worst Old Fashioned I've tasted in 41 years. Looking back now at everything as a whole, I shouldn't be surprised. Tasted like well bourbon, not what I ordered, and was lacking simple syrup, no cherry, and the slice of orange in it looked like an animal had half eaten it. I took a few sips, had my wife try it, and left it on our table (with a 40% tip). read more
