I visited miami 30 days ago. I stayed the for a whole month and got the chance to visit Mayors Cafe 3 times during my stay. I used to live down the street and would come here at least once a week , other days I would only stop by on my way to work for my favorite Cafe con Leche. There's something about your cafe con leche that makes me fall in love with it every single time. I moved to California where I'm originally from but everytime I have a chance to get on a flight my destination is Miami, this last time I came my sister which she also loved the cafe con leche... now we both GOT To make it to mayors cafe everytime we go Miami. I mean all the food is great, good portions and flavor , service is good, we get everything we need on time every time and the restaurant is small but cute and clean, I love the quotes they write on the small white board too.... To start, I had their Cappuccino, which was delicious and straightforward. I had the Mayor's Skillet Breakfast. It was decent, but it felt like it was missing a sauce or aioli. The skillet was very dry and lacked seasoning. I also tried their French Toast, which was perfectly cooked and fluffy. My sister had the 2-2-2, a classic eggs, bacon, and pancake breakfast, and my brother had The Cid, one of their sandwich. He said it was good, but lacked seasoning. Overall, Mayor's Cafe was decent. The food was okay, but it lacked seasoning in my opinion. If I visit again, I will try different dishes to see if that can change my opinion. read more

The cafe definitely has American dinner vibes to it, where you can sit at the counter and based off of the decor. The place is kind of small, but every time I go (party of 2), there has never been a wait. The staff is decent and friendly. I got the chocolate chip pancakes. They're good, but they're not my favorite pancakes. My mom loved them because that's how her mom used to make her pancakes. They definitely do put a lot of chocolate chips, which I love. Do you want a solid diner breakfast that will likely put you to sleep afterwards because of its goodness and comfort heaviness? You'll find it here. I had never heard of Mayor's Cafe before a friend suggested it after our morning run. It was a great place to refuel, and treat oneself to a mimosa. $7 for a very full mimosa was quite satisfying. We were seated right away on a relatively early Saturday morning, despite there being several tables already full and people constantly coming in to pick up orders. Our server was knowledgeable of them about the menu and accommodate all of our requests. Some of us asked for regular ice water, and some of us asked for cold water with ice, and she made sure to refill any waters that came out differently. The inside is updated, clean, bright, looking with stylized posters and photos on the walls that give you a modern diner feel. I do appreciate they still have a counter where anyone can sit and eat as well. The bathroom is single occupancy, but it was not a problem during my visit. I went for the country fried chicken, which, thankfully has the option to get Grady on the side. I find that is the best way to go, since the chicken is quite seasoned, and it is nice to experience the crunch of it without the gravy slopped all over it to begin with. It comes with a choice of home fries, or fresh fruit, but if you're having country fried chicken, you might as well go big and go with the home fries. They were huge, well cooked and seasoned. The dish almost felt like home fries and country fried chicken with a side of eggs. By the way, yes, you got your choice of two eggs in any style you'd like. My over easy eggs were cooked just right, and provided that runny yolk that went so well with the chicken. I would've stopped there, especially since I had to take a third of the dish home, but we checked in on Yelp and found that they offer a free French toast topping with the check-in. So, of course, I had to order French toast ($12.99 for 3 pieces) and use my check-in offer. I went with chocolate chips for the topping, while my friends ordered strawberry, so that we could try both. I was a little disappointed that the strawberry topping was just fresh strawberries that were cut up and tossed onto the French toast. But the chocolate chips were worth it, since they were plentifully spooned onto the French toast, long enough to be softened by the heat of the French toast. The French toast itself was doughy, adequately sweetened and not needing too much maple syrup. I'm not typically a sweets for breakfast person, but this was a nice exception to make. If you're in the area and wanting solid comfort food, at any time of the day, you should take a look at this place! read more

Came into Mayor's for breakfast with some fellow Yelp Elite friendsl after we had a morning run and we wanted to treat ourselves and a treat it surely was. Mayor's has that small-town homey feel to it that I love when eating comfort foods. I truly enjoyed this place as the food was delicious and the server was lovely. I shared the croqueta preparada sandwich and french toast with a friend and it was perfect! The sandwich was a little different than your traditional one as in had eggs (cooked your way) and was on a brioche bun! It was awesome! The french toast were also very good as well. Found this great little spot in Miami Lakes. Staff is amazingly friendly and service is great. I ordered the croqueta preparada on a brioch bun with eggs sunny side up and hashbrowns on the side. So flavorful bun with as so soft. Also had the french toast. So good. Nice and fluffy and light with a side of bluberries. I highly recommend this establishment. I will be back soon. read more

My wife and I have been going to this Cafe since the day it opened. We usually go 3 times a week if possible. We went for breakfast this morning and the French toast is the best in town. Take out service is great BUT we always eat in as the service is just as great as the food. The servers are always friendly and ready with the refill on the coffee. We were surprised to find this little gem in a large shopping plaza. They have been @ this location 6+ years. The Cafe is very clean, comfortable & inviting. We were immediately greeted & order for beverages taken. Gave us time to look around & check menu. Our orders were taken by a super friendly gala, brought to us fast & hot. Honestly my Family and I went because we had heard good things about the establishment, but the experience was far from good. The service was rude and unattentive, as if my Family was bothering him. For a Miami Lakes lifer who has lived in Royal Oaks, it's upsetting to have an establishment in our community that cares so little about it's patrons. Now, as for the food, it falls short. It would be unfair to called it bad, but by no means was it of decent quality. The overall experience is one that undoubtedly will keep me from coming back. This place was recommended by my daughter . She kept telling us to try it as she heard good reviews. So while in the neighborhood my hubby and I decided to give it a try to see what the buzz was about. As soon as I entered, i was impressed with how busy it was so I thought to myself the food must be good because this is 1100am . I waited at the front to be seated and was told by a bleach blond hair lady that we could choose wherever we wanted to sit. We chose an open area and had a seat. While waiting for someone to acknowledge us and take our order. I saw a very personable waitress direct another couple to sit next to us and immediately began welcoming them and telling them what the special was and asking them for their drink order. I began to feel uncomfortable as the blond hair lady came afterwards and abruptly took our order, never mentioning the special snd made us feel like we were bothering her. As she brought out our beverage, she literally slammed it on the opposite side of the table. I looked at the wall with a poster that said ' Pray without ceasing.' I was horrified at the blatant disregard for customer service and wondered if they knew what it meant. Then I realized the place was named after a Mayor. Then i looked below and saw another sign Families welcome, but there definitely was not any welcome here for us as maybe we didn't look like them . Hate to say it but the blatant discrimination was evident as I watched how they treated the other Customers. AsI sat there waiting for my food, my husband said he was waiting for me to walk out . I told him no way as we were not begging anything. The food was decent I must say. I started writing this review in between eating . Then I met Alyssa, the waitress who seated the couple next to us. As she served the couple. She stopped to ask us if we needed anything. What a pleasant surprise and change. I told her that the bleach blonde lady didn't serve us the toast that came with my husband's omelette order but we were done eating. She immediately apologized and offered us a bagel to take with us. Then the bleach blonde waitress came over and just slammed our bill in the table not even to asking if we needed anything else. I prayed in my heart that people will see each other as humans. If this is the culture of this establishment, then the Mayor may need to put a sign that certain people are not welcome there. This would save both of us the time and embarrassment. I pray Alyssa continues to be the little light that remains. We tipped her personally just for the brief friendly encounter we had with her. She was even refusing it but we insisted. They have plenty of options, more creative than your classic ones, in particular the omelet ones. Had a negative experience turned into a positive one. Placed an online order Friday night via toasttab (third party they use for online orders). Ordered a burger and when I got there, they were closed. Initially, I was frustrated because I was hungry and excited to eat my burger which I had already paid for. I called them the next day to let them know the situation. The owner, Frankie, called me on Monday to apologize for the inconvenience and to let me know he had processed the refund.
