The food here is actually pretty good, not the best I've had but still good, my only negative was the cheese and sauce for the pizza was kinda off, but everything else I did order tasted good. Had that old Italian vibe inside the restaurant as well.

Super authentic local Italian spot! The food was amazing, and the staff were really friendly--they made sure we were enjoying everything. It's a small place with limited seating. We went on a Friday night and it was fully booked, so if you're going with more than three people, it's probably best to make a reservation.

Came here on a Friday evening after finding this place off yelp from doing a search on Italian places in my area. My son, a fervent vegetarian and teenager, after nearly half an hour of mulling over places told us he was staying home. No wait for party of 3 despite the small place it is. Service was friendly, as there are only like 2 people and a nice blonde lady who I am guessing is the owner. I ordered the linguine fantasia, bf got something with pesto and chicken, my friend in town ordered their lasagna. Everyone was quite happy with their order. Halfway through, the owner walked up to ask how we were enjoying our meal. I asked for gnocchi to go for my son. She said they'd wait until closer to the end of our meal to prepare his meal so that it's hot when I get it to him. Very sweet and thoughtful. My son said the food is good so we will definitely be back.

We usually order take out from here but last night we got to dine in to celebrate my husbands bday. The ambiance was quiet and restful, perfect for a date night w/o my baby lol. The owner is so sweet bc she came by to chat with us, made us feel at home, we even got a complimentary dessert and we all sang happy bday to my husband hahha the food is hands down the best Italian spot in HB. We always come back again and again for their noodles, it's made just right! The seafood pasta is my favorite and really reminds me of the one I had in Venice Italy. My husbands favorite is the one with handmade noodles w/ beef, mushrooms, etc. So delicious! Portion size is also generous and it makes the perfect leftover for lunch the next day.

    Short Rib Papardelle.

Just got back from Florence and Rome and I can tell you this Short-Rib papardelle is just as amazing as in Italy. Everything at Mazara is authentic. Btw, the Cheesecake was so good, I didn't even take a picture because we ate it so fast; a must-have.

What can I say but it's always a treat to come here for dinner! Laura is always there to greet us and make us feel at home! Be sure to listen to the daily specials as they have a lot of yummy choices from their pork chop or fresh fish! Try a glass of wine too! I always order the spaghetti all vongole (clams). Usually have bruschetta as an appetizer and save room for dessert. They have homemade tiramisu or cheesecake. Other favorites are the limoncello cake and spumoni! Enjoy it with some Italian coffee! Love the ambiance and the staff are great!! I appreciate their aloha and care with each visit!! Go check them out!!

Spaghetti in Bolognese with polpette (meatball)

To start this review I have to preface that I grew up in Italian fine dining. My mom worked and some of the best Italian restaurant in Orange County in the 80s and 90s. My wife and I consider ourselves legit Foodies because we both grew up in home kitchens where our parents and families cooked so well. I've learned that when you judge an Italian restaurant for the first time you judge it on the spaghetti with meatballs and their bread. Two Italian Staples that if they can't get this right, Run for the Hills. Needless to say I had the spaghetti with polpette and Bolognese sauce. From the minute we got there our hostess was pleasant and absolutely hospitable. Later my wife and I found out that she is the owner and this place has been here for at least 15 years. Maybe 13 but I don't remember. I can't remember the last time I had a spaghetti with meatballs and meat sauce that was so flavorful. We learned some of the pastas are rolled there on the spot. Definitely not what I was expecting from this quaint little hole in the wall. I can't tell you exactly what my wife had but it was a pasta with shrimp and some sort of cream vodka sauce that was absolutely amazing. If you get a chance, check this place out. It's on the corner of Beach and I think Talbert in the center where Matsu is. If you try it and you don't like it but you went there because of my review let me know. I'll send you and I'm sorry and I'll let you know about my next plate when I go back because I will be going back. Next time I try the pizza. The dough is made fresh, on site with fresh herbs that they grow. Until next time Mazara

There's any specials or happy hour?

Nightly specials. No happy hour as of May 2020.

Why is this food so much better than any other restaurant?

Gino, the chef is amazing and quality ingredients.

What's your website? The link on Yelp is 404.

Does this restaurant have gluten free options?

I don't remember seeing anything but I'm sure if you call they can answer. Check the hours first I don't think they open until 6pm ish

    Do they do private parties?

Sorry to say I don't know! A call and they would give you an answer! They were so accommodating when did Fathers Day Dinner... we took up 1/2 the restaurant.

Our server had zero personality, seemed completely disengaged, and was short with us every time they came to the table no warmth, no attentiveness, nothing that made us feel welcome. The food was just as bad. It came out bland, flavorless, and lukewarm, as if it had been sitting around before someone finally brought it over. To top it off, the dish was poorly portioned barely any meat sauce for a plate piled with noodles. For a restaurant that should have these basics down, it was a real letdown. What bothered me most came the next day. I called to speak with the manager, hoping for some accountability, and instead got brushed off. His only response was that he'd "talk to the server and chef about timing" a vague, dismissive answer that ignored every issue I raised. It was almost laughable how obviously he was trying to rush me off the phone. No apology, no real interest in fixing anything, no understanding of how customer service is supposed to work. A bad meal is forgivable. A manager who doesn't care is the reason I won't be back.

After our visit, we wanted to pick a nice place to eat dinner, and because my kiddo said she wanted pesto, I went to faithful Yelp to look for a new Italian spot to check out. I will admit that I was a bit hesitant to try Buon Gusto out at first, not being from or too familiar with the area, and then there was the wait, but I am so glad we held our spot in line for a table. We were sat in the line of view of those who are waiting to be seated. I thought this would make me uncomfortable at first, but I hardly noticed them. Our server John was super friendly and attentive, very personable. One of the owners that we talked to also was social with us when I asked him about his restaurant and the influence for the menu items. I did not get his name, but he let me know he has Greek and Italian roots, which makes sense seeing that there are a lot of Greek/Mediterranean items on the menu as well. I believe he said his Italian ancestry is from Sicily, which was nostalgic for me because Sicily was one of my favorite weekend trips back when I spent a summer in Italy. Anyway, on to the food. I ordered the Penne Marco Polo which came with a delicious cream sauce and served with shrimp, broccoli, mushrooms and artichokes mixed in. It was one of the best pastas I have ever had! My mom ordered the chicken piccata - it was good, but she did have a complaint. Her plate arrived drowned in the wine sauce. I do not think it was supposed to be that wet. My daughter ordered the kids fettuccini, and our server was able to modify it so that it would come with pesto instead of the alfredo or pomodoro sauce. My mom and I each enjoyed a glass of the sauvignon blanc with our meal; thank you for the wine rec, John! I would definitely return if meeting friends in the area.

Daughter's shared linguine and clams. They really enjoyed it. Waiter brought it out already in separate plates, which was nice. They are both usually picky eaters. One finished and the other almost finished their portion. Wife and son both ordered lasagna. They both really liked it. Wife said it was very fresh. The tomato sauce wasn't thick meaty, sloppy and overpowering, but light fresh and not too sweet. It was definitely a healthy portion of lasagna. Wifey ate over 1//2, and my son usually finishes his plates, but couldn't finish the lasagna. I had the seafood linguine. I can't eat tomatoes, so requested the sauce to be changed from tomato to the wine sauce. They were able to accommodate. Fresh pasta and seafood. I ate everything on the plate, and soaked up the sauce with the warm bread that was served upon request. Now the desserts. We had two of each of the canolis, and tiramisu. Wifey said one of them didn't taste freshly/ home made, but forgot which one. That was the only negative I have. However we did eat all of them, sooo.... Ambiance nice candle lit type atmosphere. It was night time and we ate outside, so it was perfect.
