We were big fans of the old Mazatlan Grill and greatly anticipated the new version. The first time we came with friends. Food and service were good, but the restaurant is very noisy, which was further compounded by a young child nearby who screamed throughout our meal. The parents did nothing until we were leaving, when they brought the child outside. The restaurant did nothing. Okay, this happens sometimes. So we tried again at lunch today. The service was okay, the food was quite good. But the noise! My husband couldn't hear what I was saying. And now he doesn't want to go back. A huge shout out to the staff at Mazatlan Grill in Central Point! We have been there a few times and each time they have been over the top accommodating for my husband's diet needs. They are very attentive and make you feel like you are family. The food is always amazing and flavorful, to the point you could overindulge if you did not watch yourself. The food portions are very satisfying, and with the rise of prices to go out and eat, you get more than your money's worth. We were very sad when they had closed a few years back, yet they have returned even better than before. It has once again become our favorite place to eat and are never disappointed. Where to start let's address the only "problem" first . Most people now days don't understand good food is not fast and fast food is not good! Expect to enjoy the conversation with your guest while you wait for your good food! Staff is friendly and responsive! We stopped in based on great reviews and were not disappointed. Salsa and chips were excellent. My husband ordered a veggie burrito without the tortilla and double pinto beans instead of rice. Our server was fine with that. The portion was good. I nibbled on that and chips with salsa as I wasn't really hungry. I also took a phone call outside and my husband had his plate half emptied by the time I returned so I snapped a shot of a neighboring table that is more representative. This place is in the middle of nowhere, in a strip mall and if it wasn't for the high reviews by my fellow Yelpers, I would probably not consider it. Boy, would I have been wrong. Atmosphere and design feels authentic and all the staff was speaking Spanish to each other. That is encouraging. I could hear some Spanish coming from the kitchen which was even more encouraging. This is not "Americanized" joint, this is legit, Jose! By now, you can guess that me and my family were more than happy with the food. The sangria was delish as well. This place was great! I was visiting from California and was definitely suspicious of its authenticity, but it meet and exceeded my expectations. The service was great, servers and staff were friendly and very helpful. The wait was short, the food was served promptly while during the short wait our waters were always filled and chips and salsa constantly replenished. The food was good as well. I got the enchilada and taco and it was great! The taco shell was made in house, perfectly crispy and the Chicken was very well seasoned, especially with a little of their house made salsa! The cheese enchilada was flavorful and the beans and rice were quite tasty. I would definitely recommend this place if you're in southern Oregon looking for some good Mexican food!! read more

I have heard from a co workers that I should give this place a try. So dropped in about 6pm on Saturday with a few friends. It was pretty busy, but we got a booth. Ordered our food and margaritas. Chips and Salsa were good as was service, even though it seemed like only one guy waiting the entire section, but he was good for being so busy. My pork burrito was good too. I was very happy we got there when we did, because right as we got our food, two groups of people showed up in parties of 8-10 for each table and still only one waiter. So just be aware the place can fill up fast. But make sense, when food is good and and prices are too. read more

First time going here, I would of given this place 3-4 maybe even 5 stars. Ok first we a party of 5 was seated very quickly. Ok not bad. An older server with a white mustache was our waiter ok so far so good. Took our drink orders my friend and I had ice tea she had a peach one, my two male friends had coke and my husband asked for a Pepsi, but the older waiter said coke? My hubby said no Pepsi. Then our waiter said sir we only have coke, my Hubbys said that would be fine. Ok still everything is ok, we got our chips and salsa and my friend she asked for some beans with cheese and asked if I would like some without cheese I said yes that would be fine, (btw we never got them) so our drinks arrive as he was handing them out he said to me and my feamale friend for the señorita's, and he handed the other two drinks to the other two males and said for the gentleman but when he handed my husband his drink he Said "for the little man" I was shocked and then angry, granted my husband is not tall in height but still, I could tell my husband was not too happy about the comment. Well after a long wait we ran out of chips and asked for some more (never got them) and my feamale friend she wanted another peach tea and the rest of the group wanted re fills too, so my male friend waved to a woman who was cleaning some tables and came over and was told another peach tea and some more sodas, she came back and my feamale friend said no a peach tea, the woman looked confused and left and went back to setting the tables. Then our food arrived and with some more drinks, the food is great the service was awful and insulting. And that's why I won't go back. And I have read the other reviews and this seems to be a problem here, you need better customer service, the table behind us got way more attention then we did maybe bc they were Hispanic and we were not. Also if our older server thought he was being funny by saying "for the little man" he was not very funny. Poor customer service will kill your business, you can have the best food there but your front of house will destroy your business, remember when I started this review I said it was our first time, and because of your staff it's our last. We were on our way home and spending the night in Medford before our flight. We had eaten here once before and really enjoyed or visit, so we returned for another experience! The establishment was, as expected, crowded on a Saturday night. We were seated and waited on right away without delay and the staff were friendly. I had the Carnitas de Pollo and the chicken is grilled and was outstanding. My wife had the enchilada plate and they were made spot on. Honestly, we would compare this place to any of our favorites in Tucson or Phoenix and it would be right near the top. If you're in the Medford, OR area, you'll have to stop by.
