Mazen is one of those places I tend to forget about due to odd location. The food is consistently outstanding, though. Mazen is one of the few restaurants in town that cooks fish perfectly and the only one with a soufflé regularly available for dessert. I try to get both each visit. The decor is a little dated but cozy. The service can be a bit hit or miss but they are always kind, helpful, and hospitable.

    Surf turf was ok.

Not as good as I remember it being. I find the flavor has drastically decreased. Their crab crepe i remember being amazing and this time I didn't even want to finish it. The grape leaves were decent nothing exciting. The surf and turf was ok. You would have to drown it in the sauce to have flavor. I do love how plentiful they provide their crab topping. The fish was no good. Sad part is the best thing they served was the sliced potatoes. That shouldn't be your stand out. Jacob was an awesome server though. The bread pudding was excellent.

The place was PACKED but we were seated within a half hour. The service was awesome! The food was great with a date night atmosphere! I had a ribeye which was cooked perfectly and my husband had the veal covered in lump crab meat which was delicious! Yes, I recommend this place but remember to make a reservation!

Very nice spot. Wasn't busy at all when we came at 7:30 on a Saturday night. When we sat, we were brought pita bread and waters. Our waitress was AWESOME! She told us about all the specials and gave great recommendations. We started with the Cosmopolitan and manhattan drinks. The cosmo was very good, not super sweet! The Manhattan was very much on the strong side (good if you want a stronger and more bitter alcohol). Instead of appetizers, we decided to try the chicken & sausage gumbo and Caesar salad. I loved that the gumbo had a dark and flavorful roux. The Caesar salad was okay, but kind of weird that it came with pecans. For the entrees, we got the veal and lamb. The lamb was VERY good. The veal was good but the lemon reduction became a little much and caused the veal to get a little soggy. Overall, this restaurant is good but more on the pricey side, so be prepared to spend a bit! Nice atmosphere and great service!

All seafood is fresh. Fish, big lumped crab meat, oysters, shrimp. Appetizers are original.

He recommended several local brews and food options, and somehow we ended up having one of those conversations that makes you feel like you've known someone longer than five minutes. We talked about traveling, different beers, Louisiana, Ohio, Atlanta, and everything in between. My favorite part of the conversation had to be hearing about the brewery owned by three Japanese women who live in Brazil. That's a story I definitely wasn't expecting when I sat down for a drink! As for the food, it was incredible. I had the seafood gumbo, which came loaded with a crab cluster and crawfish tails, and I also tried the blackened alligator. Both were amazing and full of flavor. The atmosphere was great, the beer selection was excellent, and the service made the whole experience even better. I genuinely can't wait to go back to The Chime! If you're in the area, definitely give this place a try. 6/5 from me!

The taste was still good! I ordered the seafood pasta too but wasn't fond of the fishy smell and taste. The sauce was thin and runny as well. The little French bread that comes with the meal is delicious and I'm not a bread eater! The packaging and service is very safe and clean! Yes, I recommend this place! Cheers!

Responding to Chelsa K.'s 1* review. As I am someone who was in the restaurant when it happened…read more I just think it's funny how you aren't mentioning y'all came in as 6 people and then wanted accommodations for 30 people during one of the busiest times of the night. Or that they argued with the amazing manager for nearly an hour total after being told they couldn't accommodate that size party. They're also leaving out the part where people from their group marched in and seated themselves, stood over occupied tables waiting for guests to leave, insisting the hosts clean the tables, and made the entire restaurant uncomfortable. This had nothing to do with race and everything to do with behavior. Any group acting like that would've gotten the exact same response. In short, do better. Y'all came in and ruined everyone's dinner because y'all don't know how to plan ahead. Stop blaming people for your mistakes and take accountability.

This may have been part of the reason its wasn't all that busy on a Tuesday lunch. Similar to some other restaurants in Louisiana I've visited, they have a side with a bar, to-go area and high tops, and a more family oriented side of the restaurant with a bunch of low top tables. Fried pork rinds are served with every table. They have daily plate lunches and the one day I came it was chicken fried steak. However, it's not usually a good idea to order CFS outside of Texas in my experience. Therefore, I ended up ordering the catfish and shrimp platter, served grilled instead and added a $5 strawberry margarita. The entree comes with a side salad but they only have seelct dressings and none which I would typically order, so i just settled on honey mustard. Margarita- for only $5 it's not bad and comes with either sugar or salt rim Catfish and shrimp platter - seasoned with a blackened seasoning but it wasn't spicy. The catfish filet was small and tasted like it was previously frozen. The shrimp were also small and didn't taste much better. Not sure I'd return if ever in Lafayette, as I was really looking for a more festive environment and more grilled options.

I didn't even know that the "Boudin Capital of the World" had this many people. The place was packed, and I visited on an off time on an off day. I guess they don't have any off times or off days. Our wait was quoted at 40 minutes, and it was fairly accurate. They have a full bar to grab a drink and chat with friends while you wait. You can also grab a drink and stand alone in the corner, but that would be creepy as hell. Once seated, I was ready for some food. My kid and I shared some of their firecracker chargrilled oysters, and they were wonderful. Ensure your order has charbroiled oyster,s and you will be happy. The table also had an order of fried onion rings, and they, too, were excellent. My entrée was fried shrimp. When it arrived, I was concerned as the batter looked a little darker than I am used to. One bite, and that concern went out the window. These were some perfectly fried shrimp. This is an awesome place.
