Never had Persian food before but this place just sets my expectations high for other Persian restaurants I try in the future!!!! Ordered the old skool (koobideh) mazzeh plate which comes with the beef/lamb skewer (choice of 1 or 2 skewers), rice and roasted tomato!!! The meat was super tender and flavorful and honestly 1 skewer is a good amount of food! The rice is also very well seasoned; not just your typical plain rice. What really blew my mind was the yogurt white sauce they offered. Holy moly it's so good. It's so refreshing to eat with the kabob and I love that they have bits of cucumber in it; way better than any yogurt sauce I've every had! After missing them a couple times when they were in my area, I finally started following their calendar and marked 2 weeks out that I was going to get it! The chicken was juicy and full of flavor, the saffron barberry rice was the perfect combination of savory and sweet, and the basil sauce was mind blowing! Seriously could eat that basil sauce as a pasta sauce, salad dressing, anything! I usually don't like baklava as I find it to be too sweet, but this baklava was perfect! Disappointing! Found them at a special event today in a parking lot at Outdoor Supply Hardware in Almaden. They had a pretty limited menu of koobideh, joojeh, and a stew. I looked at the photos on Yelp and saw the reviews and decided to give them a try because I love Persian food. All the photos showed rice with the koobideh so I assumed my order of koobideh would include rice. All I got was one skewer of koobideh, half a tomato, and 4 little squares of lavash bread for $15. Pretty sad. Put it this way, I was still hungry. I'm used to Persian dishes with an overwhelming amount of rice. Not the case here. Wish I took a photo before I ate it. Good kabobs. Good portion for one person. Flavor didn't knock my socks off, but I would return. We got the "Old School" (koobideh) and the "Perfect Couple" (beef and chicken kabob combo) and I thought the beef was better than the chicken. The chicken did have a nice light char to it though. My wife thought the Mazzeh style Kashk e bademjan was very delicious, and that she would definitely get that again. Came upon this truck one day and tried their Joojelicious (Saffron Chicken) plate. The chicken was juicy and tasty. The tomato was nicely charred. You can absolutely taste the freshness and the care they have in the food. I also tried the chipotle tahini sauce and oh mannn! It just goes so well with the chicken. We were looking a catering company and one of my buddies recommended I call them and Soraya was so sweet and came up with a great menu so that we can accommodate the Persian guest that we had and also the no Persians and I swear they all so loving all the different varieties that Soraya suggested we should order with them. So let's talk about the amazing and awesome chef Mehran that absolutely killed it with all the Kebabs that were so juicy that every time I went to the truck where he was making the chicken and Beef Kababs on a wood fire grill and that smell was killing me so I just had to get a taste and guys I didn't wanna get away from that wood fire grill till I kill every single screwed but than Soraya had to get me out of there to attend my guest. So I will promise anyone if you have a Business lunch or party and your house looks no further because you will never find anyone with an authentic Persian Cuisine and lots of starters and the lil chicken kabob bites that I can't wait to have again. Hubby just picked up dinner and it was fantastic, we were very pleasantly surprised. This is top notch quality food! Delicious, fresh, and generous with their portions. We had: zereshk polo + joojeh the perfect couple (joojeh + koobideh) Mast o khiar (yogurt + cucumber dip) The joojeh was so tender, the kabab meat is definitely high quality meat, and the tomatoes were grilled to perfection. The packaging is also fabulous, it made our take out dinner feel quite fancy. Each portion of food comes with its own little box of a dip trio and a packet of sumac. Overall very pleasant experience. I'm Iranian, so I'm a little bit more qualified than some to rate this place. So far, we've only tried the ground beef and chicken kabobs but both are delicious. I have to be honest, I've had better kabob.. and that's only because nobody can beat my Grandmother or Father . I've also had Koobideh (the Iranian staple, ground beef kabob) from many different Iranian restaurants around the Bay Area. My father used to fix the refrigerators for all of them and while I worked with him, we were invited to lunch more than once. Mazzeh Grill makes an excellent Koobideh and their BBQ chicken is moist and flavorful. And while it may not seem like a big thing to some, their Iranian rice has been perfectly done each time. My 5 stars may be slightly generous because I have had more tender and juicy Koobideh from other restaurants, but their food was twice the price and the staff is never as nice as the bunch at Mazzeh Grill. I'm looking forward to getting their Ghormeh Sabzi next time (quite possibly my favorite Persian dish, but I almost never order it at Iranian restaurants) but so far they have been sold out every time we tried to order. Two things I would like to educate the world about, Persian and Iranian is the same thing. We usually just call ourselves "Persian"... because we like cats (not necessarily true). Also, Kabob and Kebob are not the same. Almost everyone EXCEPT Iranians use "Kebob"... it's not Persian food. "Kebob" is usually Afghan or sometimes Greek. Oh.. and you should avoid transporting Persian Kabobs in your car.. I feel bad for door dash drivers. The high onion content creates a... familiar gas smell... it may also cause a little bloating, so not ideal for first dates. read more

I am so delighted and satiated by the excellent Kubideh (skewers of a lamb and beef) rice & roasted tomato I just had from Mazzeh Grill!! The meat was perfectly spiced and the rice was totally delicious because I think they toss it in meat juices. The tomatoes were a burst of tangy, smoky flavor. All in all, a perfect combo. They provide sumac powder as expected in a Persian restaurant. I am so glad I stopped at the 76 Station at Los Gatos Boulevard & Lark. Finally a Persian food truck. I tried this place on December 4th when they were in San Mateo. Definitely a great experience. Food was ready right at 6:30 and ordering through the app was a breeze. Tonight my complex hosted Mazzeh Grill for food truck night and at 6:15pm there were easily 25-30 people waiting patiently for their food. As we approached, I very nice, patient woman advised that they only had two of the options left/available and in addition it would be about a 40 minute wait. While these are trying times and who wants to tell someone they'd have to wait 40 mins for dinner when they could easily make dinner at home, she did it so politely and kindly, that we knew it'd be worth it. The food was piping hot, fresh and nothing short of amazing. We loved the food and it was absolutely worth the wait. Thank you for being patient, putting your staff out there for your small business. Beautiful truck and great food! The build on this truck is one of the best I've seen in the food truck arena. The food here is made fresh and you can taste the subtle smoke from the wood fire grill. Yes. They use lump charcoal to cook your food, not taking the easy way out with gas. I loveeee their rice, the scent of saffron perfumes your senses the moment you pop the lid open. Mazzeh Grill came to our school event and were so wonderful to work with. Very responsive, courteous, and professional. The best part though, was the food. I love Persian kabob, and their food did not disappoint! I especially recommend the koobideh with rice. It is juicy and perfectly cooked. I loved how it came with grilled tomatoes. I got the Salmon Kabob. It smelled very fishy. Good salmon doesn't smell fishy. The taste was bland. The rice was bland. The overall portion was small, but cost $20 with tax. There are other places with better portion to cost ratio and flavor. I would not go to this truck again, even if I was hungry. Not worth it. I also asked for the Eggplant Dip, they said they were out, but they had just opened, so they possibly don't plan inventory well. Which could be fine, if the food is good, but it isn't. Other people who tried it with me also did not like it. They have a fancy TV screen and buzzers to let you know your order is ready, but I don't need the fancy technology. Mazzeh grill truck came to stanford POD and a I thought I should give them a try. I ordered Jooje kabob with rice and my friend order Koobide kabob. The rice was good but the Joojeh lack of flavor, it was just like a bland grilled chicken. My friends comment on koobide was also not great. Also I believe they really need to work on their prices. It's expensive paying almost $16 for just some rice and chicken.(basically food truck concept) The only thing I liked about them was their cleanliness and their truck. read more
