I came here for dinner today and got the shahsavar ghormeh sabzi with meat which is a stew, their shiraz lamb shank with baghali polo, and isfahan koobideh kabob. This was more than enough food for two people. The restaurant itself is huge, they have a big shaded outdoor area that can host events, an indoor event area, big dining area, bar and multiple big flat screen tvs to watch the World Cup. After ordering, they gave us some nice warm bread, I think it's called sabzi khordan. It came with some butter, thai basil and raw onions. The bread had a firm outside but fluffy inside, very good. For the main dishes, the shahsavar ghormeh sabzi with meat is a dish we saw recommended on multiple platforms (i.e yelp, reddit, google) to try. It is a dish made with beef, herbs, kidney beans, sundried limes, parsley, green onion, leek, fenugreek, salt and pepper. This is not a familiar flavor to us, but it was still enjoyable. The beef was tender, kidney beans were not overcooked, had a slight tart taste but went well with the rice they had. The rice was regular basmati rice and saffron rice mixed together. The portion size was big. The shiraz lamb shank with baghali polo is a lamb shank served with dill and saffron rice. The lamb was nice and tender, cooked well. The juices from the lamb shank soaked into the rice which was very nice. The portion size was also big. Since we were at a persian restaurant, we usually also get a skewer of some sort to try. We got one isfahan koobideh kabob which is a ground beef skewer. It was fine. Overall, the food here is quite good with generous portions, will be back again to try other dishes. read more

Came here for Mother's Day excited to try Stone Stew and left very disappointed and upset. First of all, always ask for a copy of your receipt. The owner has lots of hidden and outrageous charges. We were very disappointed that they charged us $37.99 for 1 skewer of koobiedeh & 1 skewer of chicken kabob with bone ($10 extra), oily rice and the smallest bbqed tomato. $6.99 for 1 cup of "homemade" lemonade sour and with crunchy sugar on the bottom. $13.99 for the smallest microwave reheated (cause even the plate was hot) kashkeh bademjan. And even more disappointed when we ordered a togo order of 1 skewer of chicken kabob & 1 skewer of chenjeh and being charged almost $60 dollars!!! You can see this on our receipt (that thankfully my mom asked for because when the bill came out we were shocked). - We asked the owner about all the charges and she just said "that's our menu charges" and walked away. The prices are outrageous for the quality, portion sizes and cheap corny decoration/table settings. Like plastic table coverings, pitchers for water, smelling piping in the bathrooms, servers running (literally running) around with $60 portions, come on! The owner claims it's a "whole Cornish hen" and that's why they charged us so much. Hmm. We are obviously Iranian and therefore have been to MANY Iranian restaurants, that was not a whole Cornish hen. If so, poor gal only had one breast, one thigh and one wing. And the yellow food dye they used on the chicken was stuck on my fingers after many hand washes. The koobiedeh's weren't bad but very dingy and thin. Not "por bareekat" as we Iranians say... not sure how to translate it. We won't come back again. I gave 2-stars because the Afghani bread they served was warm and fresh. read more

All of my Persian friends rave about Stone Stew being closest to what their mother cooks at home. Going in with my boyfriend, we ordered the Ghormeh Sabzi and Isafan Koobideh Kebab. They generously gave us their flatbread and hummus for free, which was delicious! The hummus has a bit more tahini and lemon than the other hummus I've tried at other Middle Eastern restaurants. The bread was phenomenal, I devoured a whole basket by myself within minutes. Lathered with their hummus, can't find this quality anywhere else. The Ghormeh Sabzi had a fresh herby, minty soup with kidney beans and ground beef. My boyfriend loved this and commented how it's like being in a Persian mom's kitchen. The Isafan Koobideh Kebab was well spiced and piping hot. The portions were large, it was a struggle for 2 people to finish 2 portions. I consider my boyfriend and I to be big eaters, but we were so stuffed! The owner came by to make conversation and was very sweet! Do support this small business, their food is great! read more

I came here on a Saturday around 3. It was busier than I expected, but nothing crazy. Upon entering, we were quickly seated and given water and utensils. The interior is unique. It looks like it's made for large events. There is a sound system/stage for music, a sizable bar, and the tables look like they are for a wedding/event. This definitely added to the dining experience because it doesn't feel like a typical restaurant. To eat, my fiance and I ordered the Mirza gasemi, ghormeh sabzi, and the koobideh plate. They also give out complimentary bread with butter, raw onions, and Thai basil (I think). We also ordered some tea to drink. The bread was fluffy and slightly toasted. I enjoyed it with the butter and raw onions since that's not something I typically eat together. I don't know why I've never thought of this haha. The Mirza gasemi was really good. My fiance and I had never had it before, but it's something we will definitely get again. It had good flavor and an enjoyable texture. I really liked it on top of the bread. My ghormeh sabzi was also delicious. This is my favorite Persian dish and it did not disappoint. It was perfectly tangy and the meat was super tender. My fiance liked his kabobs too. He cleaned his plate lol. We also ordered two teas and were given a full pot. It was perfect because after our meal, we let our food digest and finished our tea. The service here was great. I wanted to try a new restaurant for dinner this evening, so I ordered delivery from Stone Stew. At first I was put off by their prices, but when I looked at the menus from other Persian restaurants in the area I saw that they were actually a little bit lower than the others. I ordered the Kerman Soltani Kebob plate. It came with one ground beef koobideh skewer, one filet mignon skewer, basmati rice, grilled tomato, and raw onion. I also ordered a side of cucumber yogurt dip and bread, plus a homemade lemonade. It took about 45 minutes for my food to arrive, but it was mostly worth the wait. The ground beef skewer, rice, bread and dip were SO good. The ground beef had the most wonderful flavor. The rice tasted hot and fresh. The bread was soft and delicious, especially dipped in the cucumber yogurt. Unfortunately, the filet mignon skewer was dry and flavorless. I couldn't eat it. The lemonade had no ice and wasn't very cold. It tasted better after I added ice and sliced strawberries from my own kitchen. They did an excellent job packaging the food. Everything was wrapped tightly in plastic wrap so there were no spills. I will definitely be back to Stone Stew, but won't ever order the filet mignon again. read more

We ordered a well-rounded spread that had Kashke Bademjan (rich, smoky, and beautifully balanced), Dizi (2 orders) - absolutely amazing and top-notch comfort food; deeply flavorful, slow-cooked, and incredibly comforting, with tender meat and a broth that tasted like it had been developed over hours , Shallot Yogurt - light, tangy, and refreshing, Soltani Kebab Plates and Doogh (small). The dizi was the clear star of the meal -- authentic, hearty, and executed exceptionally well. The kashke bademjan was equally enjoyable and paired perfectly with the rest of the dishes. The kebabs were good, but they could have been better, as we've definitely tasted better versions elsewhere. They didn't quite reach the same level as the stews and appetizers. A special shoutout to Gabriel, who served our table and did a fantastic job keeping up with our requests, checking in at the right moments, and ensuring everything flowed smoothly throughout the meal. Overall, Stone Stew Grill & Bar offers great service, a welcoming atmosphere, and some truly excellent Persian comfort food. Ab Goosht also known as Dizi is a broth and lamb, potato, beans, and tomato mix cooked in a stone pot. This place hands down makes the best Dizi I've ever had! And I travel to LA regularly (which has the best Persian food.) Although I 100% of the time order Dizi here, I have tried other people's dishes. The bbq here from the koobideh to the chicken, to the barg (filet minion) are all very good. The rice and tahdig are great too. If you like doogh, it's very very good here. It's housemade and much better than the bottled version. Yolanda is almost always our server when we go. And she is a sweetheart. Her service is always warm and welcoming. The restaurant itself has very nice decor and is very clean. It's a nice setting for a big gathering or for just a couple of people. The seating outside is also well put together. I ordered take out for pick up via Yelp ordering and was not disappointed. This place shares the same lot as the Aloft Hotel so there's lots of ample parking-just be sure not to park in designated hotel spots. There was a private party going on when I arrived and the guests seemed to enjoy the food. I did not wait too long to receive my order and the person helping me was friendly enough. The food? Really good and high quality-generous with portions. Persian food is not cheap so I appreciate it when I get extras such as bread, grilled tomato, onions, and sumac with no extra charge. The beef had no flavor. My friend ordered chicken and beef kabobs and was ill the next day. The best thing we ate was the warm bread. After ordering our food, no one came back to check on us. We sat there for over hour. We flagged down a lady whom I told we had not been checked on since we received our food over a hour ago.Her response was that they were busy with a big party and were short staffed. No apology. The meal came with bread, butter and a sprig of purple basil. It's a huge, cavernous restaurant that seems more like an event hall. The decor is interesting. Iranian banquet hall meets Montana black bear lodge? A large screen tv played the news soundlessly. It was a cold, windy day; the space felt homey, cozy. Coming back to this beloved location brought so many memories to me and my family from when Tony Romas used to be here. We're glad this new establishment turned into a great Persian restaurant. The menu is filled with lots to choose from including my favorites, Koobideh, chicken kabobs, and more. Let's talk about the food; the koobideh is fresh and grilled to perfection. Their rice is fluffy and buttery, chicken pieces are juicy and tender, and the appetizers were tremendous. I will say, the beef filet was dry and tasted just like carne asada (I wasn't a fan). The stone stew was just ok; the meat was dry especially when mixed with the garbanzo & white beans. This soup was separated from the meat so it became awkward to eat. Other than this, everything was fantastic and we can't wait to try more! Their service was good and super friendly. They came to check on us frequently and made sure our drinks were refilled. The restaurant does need to utilize the AC though; it was getting hot and we were all sweating. I think they should use the AC fan to make for a comfortable dining experience. I'm giving this place 3 stars due to following. We decided to try out a new Persian/Iranian Restaurant for our aunts birthday. Normally we go to one in Sunnyvale. But this one was a bit closer and we wanted to explore our taste buds. We came in on a Wednesday around 6:30pm. The place was empty. We barely were able to find a worker there. They showed up to grab the cake we brought, but after that they didn't appear for another 10-15 minutes to take our order. We ordered the meal for 2, which was about $65. It came with 2 skewers of koobideh kebob, 1 chicken kebob, 1 beef filet, 2 plates of rice, a shirazi salad, and shallots yogurt. The chicken and filet skewers were delicious. The rice was your typical basmati rice. The shirazi salad was pretty good. And the yogurt was amazing! BUT the koobideh was dry and tough to eat. Definitely drenched those 2 skewers in the yogurt. The food, id definitely order off doordash but I wouldn't come in to eat there. I give the food 4 stars but the service would be about 1-2. read more

This place use to be over by Chevron on Saratoga but now it's across by Mituswa by the hotel & Applebee's (right off the highway!). This place is so good and perfect for family or any kind of group dinner. Tbh I'm not familiar with Persian/Mediterranean food but I had this place twice and I love it! We usually stick to ordering the Torghabeh Special which includes two beef skewers, one chicken skewer, and one lamb skewer and it all comes with two rice plates, tomatoes, shirizi salad and yogurt. There's also a free complimentary bread. All that for a little over $50 is worth it and is more than enough to be shared between 2 people and there's leftovers too. It's a lot of rice and kind of wished the salad was a large portion but I think next time I'll just add another order of the shirizi salad. It was a mixed bag for me. The service was excellent, and my husband enjoyed his food, but I was disappointed with my entree. The bread they gave us was tasty with butter. They included mint and unions, which my husband added to the bread. He ordered one of the Persian stews, Shahsavar Ghormeh Sabzi with Meat, and he enjoyed it. Well, I enjoyed the tomato, but unfortunately, the chicken was dry & overcooked, and both the chicken & rice tasted overly salty to me. I tasted my husband's stew and did not care for the flavor. It was a bit empty when we entered and we chose to sit outdoors. The decor outside is super cute, lots of greens and there was a fountain! We ordered the special dish for 2 and it was sooooo filling! They gave some bread first for us so we were snacking on those for a while but when the main entrees came, it was so delicious! Our server was super nice and attentive, they refilled our waters, bread, and kept checking up on us! We weren't too sure if we wanted the shallot yogurt or the cucumber yogurt, so they were able to give us samples! We honestly still don't know which one we like the best haha. I think its called Shiraz salad. Just a suggestion, don't eat the entire bread, the texture of the bread is so good, but need to keep your stomach empty. Eat a bite for taste and wait for the main dish. Although you have many options to chose from, For beginners, I'd suggest Gorgan Chicken, Shiraz Lamb Shark and if you are beef eaters, try the Koobideh as well. Also, don't forget the black tea from this place after food, it is really suggested. Most importantly the service they does is really good. One of my favorite places to get Persian/Mediterranean food. I came here several times and this place does not disappoint when it comes to the food. The place has a good ambiance to it. Not too loud but lively enough to enjoy a nice date. I always have to get the mixed kebab combo. It comes in a huge platter with rice, meat, onions and tomatoes. I usually get lamb and chicken. I love how the tomatoes are oven roasted. I always get extra tomatoes as it pairs well with the Halal meats. The service was not bad but I did have to flag down the staff a few times for basic necessities but I believe the owner/manager stepped in to assist.
