My girlfriends and I went for a girl's day today to get manis & pedis. Its a small salon, quaint and simple located by Fairfax Circle thats been around for about five years. The staff is super nice and accommodating We were able to be seen right away after just walking in. The selection of nail polish had really good variety not like other salons I have been to where they have only 20-30 bottles. After you pick your color, they seat you in a comfy massage chair with a heater if you like. The magazine selection is a good up to date read for when they are working on your toes. They go through the routine with you but they also exfoliate and massage your legs and put paraffin wax on both feet which would be extra at other salons. As for the manicures, they do the same with the wax and they also massage your hands and arms with lotion. The staff is really caring and helpful with finding your keys and other things to make sure you do not mess up your new manicure! Very thoughtful! For the price and the services you receive, its a great deal! I definitely will be back soon!! Love this place! Saw the good yelp reviews and was searching for a good Fairfax nail salon. Lisa was wonderful! She took her time with me and used that paraffin dip after my gel manicure - only $27 total. She did 3 coats of a dark brown color which I appreciated and did an extra coat on the edges of my nails. The shape is perfect and I will definitely be returning! It's clean and I didn't feel rushed at all - lots of OPI and CND colors to choose from as well. read more

Mixed reviews. Tried this place for mani/pedi on a whim, based on location and price and these reviews. Good - walk in, no wait. Place appeared clean and fairly roomy. Nail colors were well organized and good selection of OPI. Hot wax treatment for hands and feet. Very efficient, took one hour for both mani/pedi. Bargain at $37 for both Cons - Toe nail trimming sloppy - cut straight across, with no rounding edges, and some cut under the quick, showing skin. Hand nail trimming, too sharp in the corners, showing skin. Nail polish on two hand nails has bubbled. Toe bath water and hand softener was lukewarm - almost cool. Attendant had not much personality, did not converse, mostly motioned me to do this or than. Attendant rushed through the service to finish in exactly an hour. Place had no music, interior decorating average. No offers for coffee, tea, water, etc. Likely not a repeat place. You get what you pay for. read more

My roommate and I were walk-ins today. She wanted an acrylic manicure and I wanted a gel manicure. I was unacknowledged the whole time and her appointment was very rushed. The nail technician did not give her a manicure at all: no cuticle care, nail trimming, lotion, etc. Her appointment was over in 15 minutes and she is extremely unhappy with the end result. The shape of the acrylic nails is not what she asked for and looks very unnatural. She is currently at a second salon getting them redone. I have been coming to MC for years. In the beginning they used to be good but the last few times I went they have been slacking. All three times I made an appointment with one of their techs and when I go someone else does my nails while the tech I requested takes one person after another. Although they have great prices I will not be back anymore for the low quality of service I receive. Last time they cut me and didn't even apologize. I was bleeding so bad and they just wrapped it in a bandaid not even acknowledging that they did it. If they work better on their customer service they would be back up to a 4-5 star in my book. read more

I highly recommend this place! It is a little hidden and it does not look super fancy from the outside but they are GREAT! I just got my nails done today. I had gels done last week but the last place I went to was bad so the gels were already chipping (which has never happened to me before). So I walked in without an appointment and was seen right away. The lady that did my nails was very nice. She took off all the old nail polish and also managed to get off the red stains I got by eating spicy cheetos. She also took the time to do 4 coats of the color until it looked good. The color I chose was light so if she had only done the usual 2 coats, it would have been kind of see through. I accidentally messed up my nails a couple times under the UV lamp but my nail technician was very nice about it. She laughed and fixed it every time. Then I got paraffin for the first time!! My hands are super soft now and smell awesome. I wish I could do paraffin for my whole body. Some other reviewers said they felt like their technicians were rushing. Mine kept an eye on the door and greeted everyone and asked them to wait but I did not feel rushed at all. She took her time and did everything carefully. The other customers at the spa looked very happy too. The best thing was the price! For a manicure with gels and paraffin, it was only 27!! And she did a nice massage too! read more

Definitely will not be returning to MC Nails again. I brought my mother here last year and had a wonderful experience for a great price, so I thought we'd give it another shot today. A mistake. My mom and I both got regular mani pedis that turned out sloppy and uneven. My finger nails are all very different lengths, the area around my cuticles started cracking and wrinkling before I even left the salon, and top coat and cotton fluff are stuck to the underside of my nails. Many of my toenails are also filed unevenly and slanted. For $37, I expected better, especially since they raised their prices within the last few months. Was hoping to kick off spring with a nice treat for myself and my mother, but instead, I'm starting the season with janky nails that I might have to recut and polish myself later tonight. Let me revise my review since I've upset the community... aka (the owner said I've made a false statement) Totally not worth it! The nail tech ruined my nails! Because of the raving reviews, I thought the drive would be worth it and came in for a gel manicure. First off this female nail tech did not know how to smile and could not do a basic mani! I came in with Sally's Nail Polish stickers on my nails (easily removed with acetone) & NOT GEL POLISH on my nails 1.This nail tech buffed my nails so hard it started to ache (I had Sally's Nail Polish Stickers on my nails but she treated my nails as if they had gel polish on them). 2. She used acrylic file and buffer on my natural nails--which are too course/tough for "natural human nails". 2.The nail tech FORGOT to file my nails on my right hand. 3.Did a horrible job on my cuticles (did not cut but she PULLED my cuticles off; I have split and broken cuticles now) 4.She did not massage my hands or offered me lotion Clearly this nail tech was inexperienced. These are all horrible nail techniques during my manicure, no wonder why I didn't complete my gel mani, I asked for my money back and ran out the door. Yes, the owner did gave me my money back but I had to ask for it back because she wasn't offering me any type of customer satisfaction. The owner did not offer to redo my nails or even look at my nails to see what a poor job her employee did. I guess she was still in stock I was speaking Vietnamese to her and knew how a good manicure should look like. I needed a pedicure while visiting Fairfax and my daughter took me here. She told me the prices were great and they do great work so I was willing to give them a try. We had a party of 4, so we called ahead and set an appointment so there would be no wait. When we got there, there were about 3 people in the chairs and we ended up waiting about 15-20 mins to get started. I didnt mind because they were very apologetic about the wait and were accommodating anyway so we let it slide. One thing that stood out to me was they didnt ask what type of pedi I wanted. Im used to a standard pedi or a spa pedi. Im guessing at Mc Nails theres just one type. The pedi was good, they do this parafin wax bag thing where they massage your legs with hot parafin wax in a bag, then put your feet inside to soak in the bag... this felt awesome. I have to admit, the name of the salon cracked me up.. put me in the mind of mcdonalds menu. "Mc Nails" I kept joking on it because it sounds funny to me. Overall, a great quick and affordable pedi. I don't normally review businesses, but I was too impressed not to do so here. I read reviews almost obsessively, and finally decided to try this salon. Having been to several other area salons, I was expecting to not be impressed. I was so wrong. I went in, and there were two women getting pedicures, so I asked if they had time for a walk - in for a full set of acrylics. My girl (who never gave me her name) not only spoke very good English, but was also pleasant, friendly, and never switched away from English (which shouldn't matter, but its nice to know that someone is respectful of language barriers). She shaped my nails perfectly - they are exactly my ideal length and shape - and was very good about asking if they were going along with my vision. She really took her time too - I was there for probably an hour just for my hands. The salon got pretty busy too, to the point where customers were waiting for techs, but she still never rushed. The only downside is they did not have the shade of gold I wanted (although they did have a good selection of colors) so I will be going back tonight to get my accent color on my ring fingers changed (but that is just because I keep looking at it and I don't like it...she did exactly what I asked though). I have been getting compliments all over the place, and have never been happier with my nails, especially for $30 including tip. UPDATE- I went back yesterday because I decided I did not like the color on my ring fingers. They brought me right back to my girl from the day before, who quickly switched out my colors and made sure that all of my nails still looked perfect. I wish i could write a review about the salon but they were so rude and unprofessional i walked out. When i walked in no one greeted me. I kept trying to see if there was someone i needed to talk to but no one even said hi or acknowledged i was even there. My favorite place for pedicures. I have been here twice for the Deluxe Pedicure ($38). They do not rush through it and is a bargain for the money. They are still one of my favorite salons in the area. The customer service is always nice, and they recently painted and upgraded many things (including the massage chairs - ahh). They also added more staff on the weekends which used to be a limiting factor because so many people would walk in. They also changed the parrafin wax foot treatment. Now they fill it into the bag, let it cool, and then put it on your feet. read more

I don't know about you but I like thinner gel coats so that it looks more natural & not like cheap acrylics. Aside from that the service was fine, my nail technician was polite but quiet. I am so impressed by the upgrades to the MC Nail salon that Nancy and her family and staff have made over the past several months! This salon is definately TOP NOTCH! The new spa pedicure and manicure chairs are awesome--comfortable and pretty too! The spa pedicure chairs, with the full massage and bubbling soak tub really pamper and relax me. And I just melt in the manicure chairs with their buttery leather texture and padding. The new salon design, with wall color, flooring and lighting, bring a modern, contempory feel to my experience. Yes, their prices for mani and pedi are very reasonable, but Christ almighty, they're absolutely rude rude rude! First let me state that I'm new to the area, and this was my first time visiting MC Nails because it's close by my apartment. I went in because I have grad school orientation tomorrow and I want my nails to look nice. They were pretty busy but they managed to take me as a walk-in. I was there for a gel color manicure, because my old gel manicure was starting to peel. They had a limited selection of Gel Colors in my opinion. I ended up choosing an OPI Gel polish called Do you have this color in Stockholm? which I thought was bright purple. The manicurist I sat down with was a man, unfortunately I didn't get his name. He took off my old polish and just started to rush the application. He really didn't show extra care and kind of just went through the motions of the applying the polish. My nails look purple black instead of bright purple like the bottle indicated, even though the tech only applied two coats. Either the bottle was mislabeled or the nail tech put the color on too thick. My nails are lighter at the top and get progressively darker quickly and it just kind of emphasizes how sloppy the paint near my cuticle was applied . There's paint on the side of my nail and under my nail. The lines aren't really even. It just stems down to the fact that the nail tech DID NOT CARE. I paid for my services and left a tip. I didn't complain at the salon because I didn't know what to complain about at the time. I came home and googled the color thinking maybe my expectations for the color were off. Nope, online the pictures show the color being a bright purple. This place is slightly cheaper than it's competitors and your manicure includes a paraffin wax treatment. Still for thirty dollars my nails shouldn't look like I painted them myself. The lines should be clean and the color should MATCH the bottle. read more
