I picked up an order here today for a just a spud and I have been ordering here for two years because I live right behind this store. I order the same thing all the time. A just a spud (the large one) and eat it that night. Then I also order broccoli cheese soup with bread and have it the next day. Since it's quarantine time I did the same this time. They gave me two day old potatoes and put them together. The outside of the potatoes were hard as rocks. When I called and spoke to GM Brittany Johnson. What's a great place to go grab a quick bite! They make lunch super fast and even when there is a line, you are going to have fantastic service. Ordered a soup and half sandwich combo witch was pretty tasty. Didn't really like how the chicken tortilla soup was made. It was more a thick paste base with nothing inside of it. Not one piece of chicken in it, but I did like how hot it was, meaning temp. It's big chips they serve with it and I really just dipped them in my soup. The sandwich I ordered was one of their melts. I loved this! It was super yummy, hot and cheesy with some sort of mayo sauce that was in it. At the front their are plenty of ice cold teas to choose from, as well as lots of treats you can take back to the office for a party or whatever. Easy Pickup Order Was Incorrect! We just placed an online order with this location that was incorrect when we picked it up. The printout on the bag was correct but here is what was left out. * A sandwich with a side of potato salad - no side. * 2 Heath cookies were missing. * specifically ordered an extra pickle spear but received none. How could all these mistakes happen? We paid for all these items but didn't receive them! I was a regular patron for years. I continue to believe that their food is pretty good and the service generally cheerful. Although I won't be returning, I would never steer anyone away from this place. I am sure others will disagree with my pet peeve, but I don't support companies that tool loyal customers $0.99 for a very small tub of extra dressing when requested. In my opinion, the supplied dressing (two little tubs) is inadequate for the size of the salad. I have always asked for more and was never charged. Yesterday, I was informed there was always a charge for extra dressing and I probably just never noticed. Obviously, I notice these things. Pre-Covid, we have all enjoyed salad bars where a customer could add as much dressing as they chose. Dressing is a low cost item to restaurants. The size of McAlister's dressing tub is small. Asking $0.99 is completely opportunistic. More to the point, restaurants are lucky to be getting customers back. If an establishment sees a good customer getting agitated about something and refuses to yield - when the reality is that satisfying the customer will cost almost nothing - just gracefully extend the goodwill. The business certainly has the right to charge what it wants, and many customers will probably not blink. I, however, canceled my order and walked out. They have lost future profits from me and a reluctance to recommend them to the people I know. read more

This is a great deli. There are tons of options and the potato soup is delicious. The choose 2 option allows you to enjoy two delicious favorites. Soup/ sandwich, sandwich/ baked potato or Sandwich/ salad so many combo choices. The kids meals are .99 cents if you dine in and $1.99 if you take it to go and it comes with cinnamon teddy grahams. I got the sweet chipotle chicken on ciabatta bread- loved it!! Also got the chili soup- lots of ground beef, which is what I was hoping for! Very good chili in my opinion. This was my first time at McAlisters and the girl who took my order was super helpful and nice when I didn't know whether I wanted cheddar broccoli soup or the potato soup. She was patient and offered me samples. I waited for 30 minutes to get my food which was quite long for sandwiches and soup and it was not busy at all. When I asked how much longer it would be they casually walked over to the counter where my food had been sitting for sometime. And all they could say was 'no one called out your name?' My family recently visited this location again after more than a year. We stopped coming here because it was going downhill fast. Understaffed, unattended, wrong food orders, more unbussed tables than open tables, dirty and messy dining room and bathrooms. Our visit for lunch today was a complete 180! I literally just got back from this deli. I ordered the half Memphian with the cup of potato soup. The sandwich was terrible. This is one of the better locations within Dallas area as far as the food, cleanliness, order wait time and their staff has been very good. Something I noticed today as I am waiting on my order is that the long haired male employee (also a lot of hair) really should have it pinned back or wear a net or something. Whatever you would normally do as a food server/waiter with long hair. I just don't find that I have an appetite when the waitress' hair is all over the place ie: my food. This is my local McAlister's and I end up here for dinner probably at least once a month. This has also been my go-to location when I needed to ask for donations for a local community charity event. The past two years they have donated gallons of Tea for the Conquer Chiari Walk Across America in Plano helping to keep our volunteers and participants hydrated during the walk in hot September days. They have also committed to donate tea again this year. This year, they also graciously allowed us to have a fundraising night on a Tuesday evening. 10% of all of the sales from that night was donated to our walk for a total of $157.75. Because I worked for the McAlister's Deli chain 7 years ago... I have some favorites that are no longer on the menu. My favorite sandwich was called a Delta Delight. They no longer carry the BBQ sauce needed for this sandwich but now they carry a Sweet Peach Chipotle sauce that works as a very good substitute. So next time you go in, get a roast beef & turkey sandwich on a croissant with provolone cheese, Sweet Peach Chipotle sauce and jalapenos. You will thank me for it. Those that like to take your lunch to work, their soups re-heat great in a microwave so you can buy a few and pack them in your lunch kit. And on a cold rainy day, there is nothing better than a bacon spud with a couple of sides of blue cheese dressing. read more

THE 5 STARS ARE FOR THE ICE TEA! I've been coming here for about 4 years now. This restaurant is techinically a eat-in American deli, but I treat it as my personal destination for ice tea. When I lived in Plano full time, I'd come to this place at least once a day. Not for the food, but to get me a big cup of ice tea. A lot of people are Starbucks coffee addicts, my drug of choice is "McAlister's ice tea, half & half, with three lemons". For $1.93 after tax, the tea is prepped and kept hot in its brewer until served cold "on the rocks" when you order. The ice tea here is meant to be served southern style (sweetened) but they also have separately brewed un-sweetened tea. Since the cups are so large here, I usually order mine "half & half" (half sweetened, half un-sweetened) which lessens the bitterness of the tea but refrains from tasting like sugar water (i.e. Chick Fil A's sweet tea). P.S. Food here tends to be a little overpriced for what it is. But that is irrelevant when you only come here for tea. read more

Years ago, my first visit to McAlister's was in Arkansas. We had just recently got a Jason's Deli in my hometown, so I made fun about how weird and expensive McAlister's was. And why were the drinks so big? And what's with the old timey decor? Basically I was just upset I was stuck in Arkansas. Flash forward, I have a real soft spot for McA. There was one right next door to the car dealership I worked at, so walking over for a large iced tea, and getting free refills throughout the day was a saving grace all in its own. If you spent long hours outside on black asphalt, you may feel the same way. They have introduced a lot more options to their menu. Some homey like pot roast and mac and cheese. What I liked is their pick 2 option. Pick 2 half orders of ANY salad, sandwich, potato, or soup for about 6 bucks. Awesometown. I'm still a fan of their sweet tea and jumbo lemon slices. Workers come clear your plates and get you refills if you desire and are usually cheery while doing it. read more
