I stand by my first review of three stars. The flavors are really great but the portion size compared to price is just not adequate. Especially for kids! My daughter is eight and doesn't have a huge appetite. However the amount of macaroni and cheese is SMALL...like probably five bites for her. It comes with chips and some cinnamon Teddy Grahams (which she doesn't eat). She's always hungry for more food at the end her meals from McAllister's. There is no option for a small or large portion unless you pay extra for another serving, I guess...which still doesn't seem adequate for kids ages 7 and up. I like the Tortilla Soup. It's got a nice, spicy flavor and is served with some tortilla chips. I paired it with a half a Harvest Chicken Sandwich, which is chicken salad served on half a croissant. Flavors were spot on but more (small sized) croissant and not enough chicken salad. Difficult to give more stars when I think they skim on product. Also, when they messed up my mom's order who has a sever mold allergy ( aka gorgonzola and blue cheese ) they just re-did her sandwich. Seriously, we had to run to Walgreens to get her allergy meds because it was messing with her beathing. They apologized, but that's it. The kids liked their mac and cheese. When I ordered food from them I received my order completely wrong. The special instructions were not followed. I had missing items. And my food was cold and put together sloppy. When I called to voice my problem the girl on the other end of the line was sweet but her manager told me that it's not her problem and that I should talk about it with the delivery service used. This cafe type restaurant is extremely pricey and gets pricer every time I go here. The food is drool worthy, and the staff is amazing! They refill your drinks for you if your out and bring it back. I had a friend over to help me deal with an anxiety attack and stress. In return for his help and trouble, I ordered in for delivery. The food was way better than I thought it would be. First, the delivery guy made a hell of an impression on me. Most people are scared of my little dog, who is trained as an alert dog, but the delivery guy came armed with dog treats to placate him long enough for me to get the food. I've never seen that happen, and they really need to keep him around. The food was great! My friend raved about how good his mac and cheese was, the quality of the bacon in his BLT, and the lite mayo used. My coleslaw had good flavor and was nice and crisp. My sandwich was awesome; and had tons of flavor packed into it. The star of the show, however, was the lemonade. It was a deal, at $2 or $3 for a very large cup, and tasted homemade. It blew your standard Minute Maid lemonade that you get at most restaurants out of the water! read more

I tried to give them a second shot at take out. Made the order about an hour in advance and earlier than I normally would have, given they were running so late the last time I did take out. There were SO MANY people waiting for their to go orders. Every once in a while, an employee would ask people their order name and go check. It didn't matter. The service was so slow. When my order came out 25 minutes after the requested time, it was missing the drink. That didn't really bother me as much as seeing drinks on the rack getting warm and having all their ice melt from just sitting there waiting on the food. This used to be our "go to" place if neither one of us felt like cooking. I'm not sure how they do it, but it takes forever to place your order. The place is getting run down looking. The wrap I had fell apart when I picked it up. All of the meat was in one side of the wrap. Only lettuce in the other side. Soup was really thick like it had been cooking way too long. First off, I'm a fan of places with soups, sandwiches, and salads, so any review of places that has all three (plus carrot cake, in this instance), is going to be slightly biased towards unabashed love, in general. I play favorites with my food choices, I'll admit it. I'm not ashamed. So McAlister's is apparently a chain, though all the cities in which I've lived outside of Reno have not been large enough to have decent chain restaurants (read: something other than Taco Bell, Sonic, or McDonald's), so I wasn't aware of that fact, and had never been to one of the other restaurants as a result. I have to say, though, I am a fan of this one. They have a nice selection of sandwiches, available grilled or not, with all kinds of goodies on top. I ended up getting a roast beef with horseradish and cheddar that was pretty good grilled, with the vegetable soup, which was very, very good, and some carrot cake for dessert, which was surprisingly tasty. (I say surprisingly, because I'm a bit of a cream cheese frosting snob, so if the carrot cake doesn't have a homemade style frosting, I am not a fan. This one definitely had a decent homemade, thicker rich taste, so I got my cream cheese frosting fix for the day. In fact, they could have just given me a tub of the stuff, and I would have been as happy as a dog getting it's belly rubbed.) The servers are basically all college-age kids, but they all are extremely helpful and polite, and offer free refills while you sit (the iced tea is awesome), along with busing the table for you when you're finished. Really, a nice touch, since you wouldn't expect that in a place that serves you from an ordering bar area and doesn't wait the tables. I was really, really happy with the service, because, let's face it, who doesn't like someone else to get you more to drink and take away your garbage for you, all with a smile? Definitely going back here again on my next visit to Grand Junction. And definitely getting more carrot cake. read more

I've been coming here since they opened right down the street from me. The staff is perky and cheerful because they've been trained that way, but I'm OK with that. You order at the counter and they bring your food to your table when it's ready. I usually get a sandwich a side and tea. I've had the muffeleta, the rueben and just tried my son's favorite, the new smoky pepper jack. Everything tastes fresh and is well made. It's crowded with business types at lunch, but the place is well run so you can get in and out quickly if you need to. The sweet iced tea tastes like the real thing from down south, and they offer free refills. If you're tired of lunching with people in dirty jeans, trucker hats and t-shirts, this spot may lift your spirits. One of my favorite lunch spots. read more

First they blamed it in the item they were out of, when I pointed out that I had already addressed this with them they switched up and told me it was because of the delivery company-no available driver. Then they said they had no idea when someone would deliver it and no one to contact! Meanwhile I had tracking that showed a driver at the store waiting for at least 20 minutes. So I called the delivery guy listed on the text update. He tells me that the restaurant made him wait for them to cook the item they told me they were out of! So not only did they mess up- they tried to blame it on the person working for tips! Bad customer service, bad karma. read more

I am not sure why this location is always so busy? I ordered a large six person to go order and the food was subpar. The harvest turkey was all bread and almost no filling. Three piece of spinach, one slice of turkey a couple of sliced onions. It was pathetic and the choose two is not worth the price of the meal. To top it off, you can't order tea by the gallon. Was in mccallisters today for lunch 10-19-21 wit a friend she ordered 1/2 sandwich and small salad I ordered 1/2 sandwich and a bowl of soup . Food was good however - waitress brought out only one set of silverware wrapped in a napkin when i asked her for silverware for my friend I was told the set of silverware is for both of us? I questioned waitress and was told I did not need knife or fork to eat my soup! Good place for lunch. Amazed at how busy it was. Food overall was good, but not that good for how busy they were. Sandwich was definitely better than the chili (I have had better chili straight out of a can). They were very efficient getting through the lunch crowd though. Great spot for a quick lunch. Service here has always been great. My mother really enjoyed the soup of the day and i liked the vegetarian chili on a spud. Love, love, love this deli! This was the last place I ate at before heading to the airport. They have a deal where you can get a half a sandwich and a salad or potato or other option for $8 and some change. It was so good! I had the grilled chicken salad with a grilled chicken club. They used so much meat, nothing like subway or their competitors. You could taste the fresh deli meat in both the salad and sandwich. I highly recommend this place to anyone that's looking for a healthy lunch.
