Half Rubin sandwich, bread bowl of potato soup, and a sweet tea.
    Travis B.

Not bad, but there are several things that take away from eating here, not big enough individually to be a big deal, but together you walk away not having the best experience. First, it's extremely cold inside. I love cold places, I sleep with the AC on all night, I don't think I've ever turned off the AC in my car, when others are bitching about it being cold in a room, I'm like this is great. This place is too cold for me. I have to eat outside. And that is less than ideal, but ok, is what it is. Except, they clearly don't care about their patio area, it's dirty, there's no umbrellas or awning, or anything blocking the sun. The tables look like someone drove through them and two of the three tables were pushed all the way in the corner and 8-10 chairs were jammed into them in a way as to almost discourage anyone from using them, and I'm thinking a server did that so they don't need to go outside. They have paper and trash on them, it's a chore to move the tables and chairs to make a space. And if it wasn't 60° inside, it wouldn't be an issue. Next up is paying and having a tip screen jammed in the process. Also an issue that alone would not be an issue. Every time I've been to a McAllister's in the past, the ordering was like going to McDonald's but once you sat down, you do get some attention. So tip accordingly. Well, not here, someone eventually takes the plates, but no one cleans up the little stuff. Several of the tables inside had straw wrappers on them as well as other trash. No one came by and asked me or the other table if they want a refill of completely empty glasses, when they brought my food it had no silverware or napkins, or salt or sugar. I had to go get all that stuff. I had to move the tables, I had to try to clean up a space, I expect to have to do that at McDonald's. I don't get a tip line there. If you expect a tip, I expect you clean off the table, and bring the needed items to eat with any meal. Also refill my drink. Lastly the amount of food you get has shrunk, used to they would cut out a bowl sided hole in their bread bowl, but now it is about cup size and instead of going down 90% of the bread, they go 50% of the way. The sandwich also feels smaller. It is probably about as much a loss as you would expect with inflation, but, for $16, plus tax and tip, for half a sandwich, a cup size amount of soup, and drink, I don't feel like I'm getting a good deal. The parking lot is a pain. There is not enough space for driving or parking here. The food was ok, But the cold, the lack of service, and the pain of parking discourages coming back to this particular store. If I do come back, I'm doing drive thru and skipping the bread bowl.

Would give 3.5 if I could just because the the crowding, but that can't be helped. I was somewhat disillusioned as a kid when I found out the tasty soups and fixins here all came out of a pouch, but they are still solid meals if somewhat bland. The staff was nice enough for a college town and the inside was very clean. The tea will always keep me coming back.

What should have been a tomato and cucumber salad.

"This reminds me of the kind of restaurant that's dreamed up in a corporate office." She then said, "my salads not entirely terrible." So, we've driven by here many times over the years, but never stopped in. We probably should have kept driving. Part of the problem was my fault: why would I order a Reuben in Texas? Well, Houston actually has several very good delis, with outstanding and authentic Reubens. This wasn't one of them. Although it looked nice in the box when we picked it up, a large portion of meat, marbld rye bread and melted cheese, it had no taste at all. Or to be more accurate, it had more salt than taste. So the overall flavor was similar to a thin sliced ham grilled with some butter. The accompanying tomato and cucumber salad had a little bit of both but was mostly purple Onion. See photo. Even that had no taste.

The taco salad is amazing!! Chipotle ranch on the side, but not needed! Plenty of flavor with the guacamole and jalapeños!

I was standoffish of this place just because I'm not a fan of chains, but being from a small town, you don't really have many options. Man was I wrong! We were greeted at the door with a "Welcome to McAlisters!" And smiles!! I decided on the taco salad! The second I saw it served on a glass white plate, I knew it was going to be good!! The salad took up the whole plate and was crisp and fresh. It was topped with chili, guacamole, tomatoes, jalapeños, and cheese! (Opted for no sour cream or onions.) I chose the chipotle ranch as a dressing but didn't even use it! The salad had tons of flavor!! I will definitely order it again! Super clean facility and awesome staff!!! Two of my former students were also employed there! So proud of them!!

What an amazing experience! I came from Houston to see family and was surprised by the fast service, delicious food, and delightful service. I had the amazing pleasure of having Isabelle as my cashier and she was beyond amazing. I personally had a pick-up order and she was very patient and very knowledgable about the whole menu. The atmosphere is also very lively, when I was there around 2:00pm on a weekend it seemed like a very fun place to be. So many patrons, but at the same time it was controlled. To further go on, the food was on top of it. I personally had the Kings Club and let me tell you this sandwich was HUGE! Definitely recommend if you are looking to get filled up and have leftovers. To top it all off they even accept service member discounts. Nothing else could have made this experience better, definitely coming back!

At first I was a little worried walking in here to eat but after eating their food I was happy. The service was really good, the girl was so sweet. You also get 10% off with your Bearkat card. The brookie, was pretty good also. Yummy sandwich, I had the Mac and cheese it was good just lacked seasoning but overall my experience was great. I would come back to eat here again!

Walk up counter service with a menu split neatly into cold cut and oven baked sandwiches. Going with the Devito, my mind was thoroughly blown by how flavorful the red sauce and meats were all together, it had a combination of textures from the crusty bread cured cuts that made it fun to chew through every bite. My Stallone was also just such a pleasant mix of flavor with the pesto playing a bigger role on the cold cut options. This is one of the places where I feel like you can spin the wheel and get a winner with whatever fate decides. Things seem pretty easy and affordable here. Portions were pretty big here and around $12-$15 a sandwich, more than enough for a single person with some for a midnight snack later. There's a good bit of seating inside with some red gingham table clothes to eat over. It's worth the visit if your in Montgomery or after a day on the Lake!

My only disappointment was that the menu described it as coming on a crusty Italian roll, but the bread was soft with no crunch. A true crusty roll would have taken it from great to outstanding. The girl at the counter recommended getting the hot peppers so I got some on the side, and she was absolutely right--I'll definitely be adding those to future sandwiches. My husband ordered the Danza but accidentally received the Dinero. He still enjoyed it and gave it a solid 7/10. We also tried the Chicken Parmesan. It had good flavor, though it was a little too bread-heavy for my taste. Overall, the food was fresh, flavorful, and the portions were more than generous. We'll definitely be back to work our way through more of the menu.

For a place that has been voted the #1 restaurant in America before, it was a lovely experience! This location is a little over 30 mins away from me, which is beyond the distance I'm willing to drive for a meal in the middle of the week, but as it was my birthday week I decided to treat myself. And I am so glad that I did. I can say that everything about the experience eating here was pleasant. For one the fact that I arrived here after 7pm and they close at 8pm, yet there was a steady influx of customers speaks to just how popular they are. There was one person in line behind me and I felt bad for them a little because I knew I was going to ask a bunch of questions because I've been looking forward to coming here and it is out the way so I was going to ask the right questions to make sure I got something I liked. With that being said, the man taking my order was very helpful and patient. I know I took at least 5 mins to order yet he was cool answering all of the questions I had. I generally hate when the kiosk asks if I'd like to tip when I'm not dealing with a waiter but the service he provided paired with the amount of questions I had led me to leave a tip. Again I had to drive a distance to eat here so I went in knowing that I was going to be ordering food to eat there as well as being able to bring some home, because there is no telling when the next time will be that I want to make the trek. To keep things balanced, I ordered a cold and a hot sandwich. I went with a build your own for the cold sandwich and went with turkey and roast beef for meats, deli provolone for cheese, spring lettuce, roasted red peppers, red onion, olive smear and house marinated pepper blend for toppings, sub oil, spicy deli mustard and basil pesto (on the side) for extras, all on a crusty Italian roll for the bread. For the hot sandwich I went with the chicken parm and added light red onions to it. I also made my first sandwich a combo with chips and a drink. They serve Pepsi products for the fountain drinks and Zapp's products for the chips. One pet peeve I do have with places is that when I order an additional meat and don't feel like I got extra but instead just less of my other meat to make up for my extra. That is how I feel about the pastrami that I had added to my cold sandwich. Both sandwiches were really good. I wouldn't say that they were the best sandwiches I've ever had but they were solid. The cold sandwich was my creation so take that as you will. The flavors on it was all good, but nothing shooting over the moon to me. All of the food on the sandwich looked and tasted fresh. The hot sandwich is one of theirs with a slight add from me and it again was good but the flavor didn't just jump out for me. Making a chicken parm exceptional takes some work so I'm not mad at what they serve and it is cooked and served with an excellent broil on it. The bread on both sandwiches I will say was a stand out because it held up and had a good crust and chew while still being soft. I will say that I wasn't able to try many of their menu favorites because I don't eat pork, so some of those may be even more delicious. No complaints on any of the flavor but wouldn't have been made at a few more unctuous notes to the palate. I also got the cannoli which was cool. Nothing significant but I'm not mad that I got it. I would also like to note that the bathroom is kept very nice and smells well. I'm 90% sure that someone was blowing up the toilet before I went in yet it didn't stink when I went in. Not sure if they just sprayed a lot or the upkeep but either way kudos. I generally would've gotten food like this to go, but given the distance and that I wanted to get as fresh of a food experience as I can I did dine in. Getting there at the end of the day I was there as they were closing up. As they closed up the staff kept a respectable distance from me as I ate as to not disturb my food with the cleaning. Now that I've eaten here I can honestly say that I get why it has so much hype. Though I wasn't wowed by the food I was wowed by the service and the food was delicious. I'm not sure of when I'll next make the trip here but I do know that I'll feel confident that it will be a meal well enjoyed when I do. Thought I posted this review lol so I'll add to it since I returned again. Again great service and delicious food. The food here is so good and the location is so out of the way that both times I've gone I've left with 2 sandwiches for myself. I again got a Chicken Parm in all of it's deliciousness but this time made my cold BYO sandwich into a hot one and OMG was it banging! This place serves up deliciousness with ease.
