After handing him his food she turned to return to where she was before I told her that the other meal waiting there was mine. I was in the area headed for another place to eat and spotted McAlister's. I wasn't aware there was a location situated at this intersection. I used to get dragged into the McAllister's in Clarksville regularly by family and I was always stumped at what to order. Now that I have discovered the Classic Grilled Chicken Sandwich, I'm a big fan. Today I went with the "Choose 2" which gets you a half sandwich with a cup of soup. I chose the Classic Grilled Chicken as usual and the Broccoli Cheddar soup. The sandwich was excellent as always. The soup was really good too considering there is probably a huge vat in the kitchen made who knows when. Just kidding. I never used to eat honey mustard until I accidentally found out it was on the very first Classic Grilled Chicken Sandwich from McAllister's. I haven't eaten honey mustard on anything else yet but it goes great on this chicken sandwich. Parking here is plentiful as they share a huge parking lot with a big box store next door. read more

Love love love their food! Might be crazy to say that about a fast casual spot but it never disappoints. And that is amazing. I've gotten their veggie sandwiches often and love the variety of textures and flavors. It is very filling and has a lot of great veggies packed into it. The side options are also wonderful - from steamed broccoli which is tender and not overly cooked, and their potato salad has just the right amount of mustard for my taste, as well as soups and other options. I'm pretty open about being a fan of the McAlister's Deli chain. I've been known to talk about it so much that I've even been known to be followed by the chain on social media because of my love for the tea, the service and, most importantly, their iced tea. I'd always been curious about this McAlister's when I'm down at the nearby Franciscan campus for a medical appointment. To be honest, when I'm looking for Yelp reviews I typically snag local places and try to leave the chains for my in-between times. However, yesterday I'd had a particularly frustrating appointment and opted to go someplace familiar and comfortable. This is a franchised location, locally owned and operated. However, for the most part it has everything you'll find in just about everything you'll find in every other McAlister's. There are some exceptions that I'll talk about shortly. This is a fairly large location with a nice-sized patio section that exists under a canopy. It faces both the parking lot with a decent view of Emerson Avenue. This area of Emerson is actually growing quite a bit. However, this isn't so busy that the patio gets super loud. In hindsight, I'd likely have been happier sitting on the patio outside. There are two accessible parking spots in front of McAlister's on the side facing County Line Road. McAlister's is actually in Indy, but it's right on the county line. These spots are basically ADA compliant with an appropriate curb cut (to actually be ADA compliant, both sides of the spot should have room for a wheelchair user to exit their car. This is true for only one spot). Fortunately, I was able to use the spot I needed. The sidewalk is rather narrow, however, and if an older car with a pronounced grill drove up it could easily block the main entrance (and nearly did on this visit). This was the first of a few accessibility issues I experienced. This is rare for McAlister's, a chain that ordinarily handles accessibility fairly well. The McAlister's Deli often has high counters for ordering and the same is true here. This is weird because it makes paying difficult, but it's manageable since most employees are helpful. I also noticed as I entered that the dining room was cold. It initially was noticeable, but I decided to still stay in the dining room to eat. I later regretted this as it definitely hindered my enjoyment. An employee greeted me fairly quickly. Another employee stepped forward to take my order, though she switched cash registers due to an issue I couldn't quite understand. This took several minutes (more due to feeling the need to discuss it with co-workers), but ultimately wasn't bad. In case you're unaware, McAlister's carries a variety of sandwich, salad, spuds, a handful of dessert options, and are especially known for their iced tea options. I ordered the Black Angus Club minus horseradish (What is horseradish, anyway? It has no actual horse and no actual radish). I added chips and my usual large unsweetened ice tea. I've mentioned this in other reviews, but I'll always be bothered by the electronic payment stations that ask you if you want to tip. Sometimes I'll do it, but if you don't actually serve then this bothers me. They give you a number. You pick a table and they bring it out. This is the first McAlister's I've been to that had the tea bar be self-serve. This really detracts from the MCAlister's aura of serving a more luxe tea. It's also far less accessible since I now have to get the ice (on one side), get the tea, reach a lid (top shelf, hard to reach), and then go to my table. While it's a bit quicker in terms of refills, I'm definitely not a fan. The dining room is fairly typical for a McAlister's. It's fairly inviting. There's a widescreen television on the wall, though it's quiet. There's a combination of tables and booths. It's a little crowded in terms of accessibility. I basically found a spot at the end of a table and then had a hard time getting out of it. The food came out quickly. It was delivered as ordered (no horseradish). It was good and what I expected for the most part. I did get my usual iced tea refill, though I miss the touch of employees checking or being present to serve (which, again, begs the question "What am I tipping for here?). Overall, this was practically the definition of a mid-range experience. It wasn't bad. It wasn't good. It was a very average experience, a notch below the usual McAlister's experience and well below the best. I seriously doubt I would return to this location due to average service and poor accessibility and there are multiple other Central Indiana locations that better represent the McAlister's brand. read more

So this McAlister's is pretty much like any other... a little sleeker looking than some I've been to, probably because it's new. I'm a fan of McAlister's, in part because they have bomb tea and in part because they offer gluten free bread so I can actually have a sandwich! This is actually huge... competitors typically don't have gf bread. I ordered a choose 2 with half Savannah salad sans cheese and half the McAllister's Club on gluten free bread. The Club was good but it didn't have the honey mustard on it like it was supposed to. Kind of a bummer but fine. Then I took one bite of the salad before finding a blonde hair in it. My hair is dark brown. So I took it up to the counter and told the guy working the tea bar. He and the man next to him (who may have been a manager based on his reaction...?) were both quick to say that it wasn't okay and they'd make me a new one. More than that, they asked if I wanted the salad itself or if I wanted something else. He brought a fresh half salad out quickly, brought it to my table, and everything was fine from there. It was definitely a new salad, very full and sans hair. So I'm 3.5 star-ing this for now... I'd be willing to go back, but I'm definitely going to watch for loose hair in my food. read more

McAllister's on County Line and Emerson is a newer location but is already always busy! Stopped in for lunch during the week and by 1210 there was already a line forming. The restaurant is overall clean and updated. The restroom could have used some tidying up (TP on the floor, no paper towel) but may have happened due to the lunch crowd. They do offer a baby changing station. I decided to go with the ol' faithful "pick two" lunch option. Pick two is a sure way of winning since there are so many combinations to make. First pick was ultimate nachos with veggie chili topped off with my second choice of a half jalapeno crunch turkey sandwich. I also got my kiddo a kids mac n' cheese that came with apple sauce. Food was hand delivered with a smile to our table. Everything warm and freshly made. Nachos-let's just say I love that McAllisters offers veggie chili!! It's so good. Things could have been more evenly distributed over the nachos and maybe a tad more chili as the other chips were all dry. Jalapeno crunch turkey sandwich-I missed the "crunch" part somewhere. Someone heavy handed the mayo during the making of this sandwich. It was very overpowering. I imagine something spicy when jalapeno is mentioned, this wasn't hot by any means. Kid devoured the mac n' cheese!! No easy mac here! They also offer horizon milk which is a nice option for those that prefer an organic milk. I would return to this McAllister's with no problems. Easy parking in their private lot. They also offer a nice large patio seating area. All seating is first come first serve at pretty much all McAllister's locations. I know this is almost expected, but they were extremely understaffed. While getting my drink I kindly asked one of the employees if she could wipe off a table for me since not one single table in the restaurant was clean. I LOVE McAlister's and I am SO glad that there's one open close to where I live now. Everything about my first visit to this location was amazing. The strawberry lemonade from the tea bar was tangy and flavorful. I got a Choose 2 half Italian salad with balsamic vinaigrette and a half club sandwich. The salad had a variety of toppings, including deli meat and black olives - yum! The honey mustard on the club sandwich was amazing and the sandwich as a whole tasted very fresh. The staff was very attentive and friendly and was happy to help with plates and refills. They did a great job! The location is very clean and nice looking, with a nice outdoor patio to eat on. Nice location right off of the highway on county line. There is plenty of parking and seating inside. The floor was real sticky and we went at 11 after they opened so maybe they just mopped. The staff all greeted us and the cashier who helped us was a little loud and not friendly- she kind of rushed us through our order and there was no reason to since there was no one behind us. This location was a little different since the cashiers do not handle the drinks anymore and they have a station for it. The drink station also gives you pickles upon asking. There is a separate section for crackers, sauces, etc. Our food took awhile but it was delicious. They offer many types of generic food but I love the spuds. There usually is staff coming around for drink refills but I had to get up to get mine- after I did that- someone did come to the table and get my fellow lunch peers refills. At one point, we heard the cashier who served us yelling out and it was disruptive to our lunch. The manager did stop by our table and ask us how it was and she was friendly. This place is disgusting! The stench when you walk in reeks of old food and dirt. We walked up to the counter and the girl spoke to us with such an attitude and then wanted to argue with me about what I wanted to order. The food came out cold. We weren't even given real silverware and they didn't even toast the croissant my sandwich was on. Au Jus was cold and the mac and cheese tasted so weird, like chili powder or something. The tea bar was surrounded by gnats because the sweet tea hadn't been cleaned off the counter probably all day. This place needs some serious work. Work catered this event so this may be a one off. I've been to McAlister's before and thought it was ok, in a world of Panera, Newks, McAlister's seems to fall into that same mix. Soup was pretty good, slightly watery but still decent, sandwiches were to say the least bready, threw away two sections and stacked it with another just to make a decent one. Chips were kettle style, sweet tea was a little too much for me but that was a personal preference. This McAlisters location is extremely lousy and disappointing. LITERALLY every time I go my order is messed up. I get the same sandwich every time and the bread is always different and sometimes there is stuff on it that wasn't there before. The sides are always of low quantity and never consistent. But the biggest flaw with this restaurant is the service. The main manager (I think his name is Jason, he's a bigger fellow with a scruffy beard) obviously has no idea how to run the business. His horrible leadership shows with the frontline employees. They all look miserable and show no interest in creating a pleasant dining experience for the customer. I created this Yelp account specifically for the review because it's so frustrating how bad the service is there. while this place was extremely understaffed (less than 30% of staffing) they worked their a** off and the manager on duty was amazing with making sure guests had what they needed despite an elderly couple being ridiculously rude to them . I Didn't catch her name but the girl who took our order had curly hair , wore glasses and had some blonde streaks & she was very friendly and had such a positive attitude despite the lack of help & the amount of things that needed to get done. My friend and I helped quickly buss some tables with a young girl who was already working past when she was suppose to get off to help. She was short and i believe had a brown ponytail, also a very very nice girl. Overall enjoyed my experience and definitely appreciated them working so hard to keep their doors open ! I love McAlister's and really want to give this location more than three stars but they need to get their act together. The portion sizes from one visit to the next are incredibly inconsistent here. One visit may yield an entree with enough food for leftovers to take home and then the next visit might mean the same entree is barely enough of a meal while you are sitting there in the restaurant. Their drink station is never manned properly and you have to wait a long time to get a drink because the person preparing drinks is also apparently expected to run food to tables and help out with carryout. It's probably not unrealistic to have one person do all of this but when they are busy, it's too much for one person and it's the customer who suffers and must wait ten minutes to simply get a cup of tea. read more

This location is fairly new in my area. I believe I went to the location on 31 and Shelby years ago. I really don't recall what I had at that time. Apparently I must have not been too impressed with the food because I never went back until recently; when this restaurant opened closer to my home. We had a few reuben sandwiches - one with beef and one with turkey. The sandwiches were not very big or stacked. They were actually very small compared to ruebens I have had elsewhere. The gal at the ordering counter didn't ask me if I wanted sauerkraut or coleslaw on my turkey rueben sandwich. I ended up with cole slaw and I really wanted the sauerkraut. The traditional / original beef version was prepared with sauerkraut. The service at the ordering counter was blasé at best. We basically got the ol' - hurry up and order people and move along treatment. The deli meat definitely wasn't quality grade A. It seemed to be a cheaper processed grade. I would give the sandwiches a 5 on a 10 scale. We had potato salad along with the sandwiches. It was OK, but it tasted like grocery store prepackaged potato salad. I would give it a 5 as well. We tried a bowl of potato soup too. It also had a processed flavor. I would give it a 5. We grabbed a few 'free' pickles and had some unsweetened tea. $30.00 for that disappointment, and I can honestly say that it isn't worth returning to McAlister's for what I can basically describe as unimpressive mass produced fast food. They bring the sub average food to your table on ceramic plates. I would take my food on a paper plate any day if it was better in quality overall. It seems to be fast food marketed as something upscale, but it's not,.... and it definitely didn't fool me. In conclusion, I can definitely go to Arby's and get the same deli type of sandwich for much less, and they are actually larger in quantity and slightly better in quality. read more

AMAZING EXPERIENCE! I'm a nanny and took my 1 year old I watch with me for lunch today and not only was the food piping hot but also so delicious. The staff was so extremely helpful seeing as I'm by myself with a one year old who is screaming and squirming to get out of my arms, they helped me get a high chair to my booth, helped me carry my drinks and were just so so kind. They were very busy with a full house at Friday lunch time and really made me feel like I was the only one dining there. I went up to get a refill and a box and the manager sent 2 people over to make sure I didn't need any help carrying anything. Just overall amazing. Had to wait for a second salad and didn't even get an apology. The person who took my order was training so two employees couldn't enter my order right. Salad was good once I got it. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I ordered a 4 cheese griller and a Choose 2 meal through Uber Eats. When the food arrived, the Choose 2 was fine, but only half of the 4 cheese griller was in the container. The half of a sandwich in the Choose 2 meal was bigger than this half. The bag was still sealed with a sticker, so I know it wasn't the driver's fault. When I called, the manager, Christopher, told me he could do NOTHING for me unless I wanted to drive to the store to pick up the other half. I ordered food specifically because I have been sick for the past week and have barely eaten since last Tuesday. I was looking forward to having food that actually sounded good, and instead I spent $8 on barely half of a sandwich. Stop!!! Don't eat at this location. This was my second attempt to dine at this location in less than a week. When the store closes it 8:00, it closes at 8:00. It was 2 minutes after 8:00 and they were not going to be flexible..."sorry sir, we are closed. I respect the time and left. Tonight I arrive at 7:50. Greeted by the young women mopping the floors. Sir, we close in 10 minutes. I replied, yes ma'am I realize your closing time but I still have 10 minutes. I asked if I could dine in...I received an unwelcome response, "I guess, but you need to set here." As I was waiting to order, she continued to mop the floors and then changed the mop-head right in front of me, in front of the ordering counter. Put the mop-head down and then came over to take my order. I asked if she washed her hands. At least she was honest and said, no. I said, "don't you think you should?" She rolled her eyes and stomped off to the back. What is even more disturbing, I addressed it with the manage and he didn't think it was a big deal because she isn't a cook and doesn't handle the food!!! OMG!!! I do not recommend anyone to eat at this location. The employees don't give a crap about customer service as well as sanitary conditions. Went with my family of 5. It's one of the biggest and definitely nicest McAlister's I have been in. My father-in-laws salad was wrong, not sure how that even happens. I asked and paid for a sweet peach tea and was given an unsweetened tea. My daughters chicken tenders were so burnt that I could barely cut them up. The pickles don't exist anymore. You get 1 with your meal. I have the reward app and the employee told me that I couldn't scan it? Not sure what the deal was. Just an okay visit. Won't go back to this newer location. Plenty of free parking. The staff is hit or miss here. Back when Americans were free, we would come here a few times a month. It is a good value for the money. The iced tea is always ordered.
