Amazing fried chicken & mushrooms!! Crispy, crunchy, flavorful, just enough seasoning, juicy!!! Mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese, biscuits - huge bummer!! YUCK!!! Biscuits were hard. Potatoes not seasoned and tasted fake and dry - same with Mac and cheese. Also, we ordered extra biscuits and didn't get them. The best fried chicken you will find in central Indiana. They have a cooking oil system that is massive and I never taste a bit of the bitter rancidity many places have. The cost is worth it even though it it exceeds Kensucky Lied Charken's prices. Unlike others they have chicken gizzards and livers in addition to excellent fried chicken. This chicken spot is a good eats place. We arrived about 10mins before closing and the chicken was still decent...so imagine if was fresh and right off out of the hopper it would be !!! The sunny secret sauce is a hot sauce infused ranch - great for dipping the tenders or fries but if you are a condiment or saucy person get two because one will NOT be enough. Sunny's is located in little strip mall and has an ample private parking lot. It kind of has a gas station chicken type of feel. They have a wide assortment of fried foods like chicken gizzards, chicken livers, fish, tenderloins, and of course fried chicken. The restaurant is relatively clean and all the tables are put away. They do not have dine in. They only have carry out. You can make your order, either on line, in the restaurant or over the phone. I placed my carry out order in person. I got the 3 piece mixed fried chicken with a side of fries and chicken gizzards. I had to wait about 8 minutes for my food, then I was off. It was a nice day so I decided to detour to one of the nearby Greenwood parks and enjoy my meal. The fries were ok. My chicken was pretty good too, but it was not as good as it looked. It was very battery and crunchy, which I like. Gizzards are an acquired taste. Sunny's has some pretty good ones. They were delicious. And don't forget the hot sauce. Please keep in mind that this place is not open on Mondays and does not look like much from the outside, but has a lot of fried goodness inside. Fried chicken, fried mushrooms and chicken livers were all good! Mashed potatoes were mehh. And not very big for a "large" pretty pricey but everything is now. The biscuits were not great. They looked good with the honey but we're pretty dry. The store also looked sketchy and was hot inside. But our order was correct and the service was good and friendly. Chicken is usually pretty consistent and much better than other chicken options in the area. We typically get an order of chicken tenders to share between several of us. On more than one occasion we have tried various sides and haven't really liked any of them too much. Store is located in a small strip mall just of US31 and is fairly easy to get into. Each time I go I order ahead and the food is typically ready within the timeframe quoted when ordering. There is a small convenience fee for ordering online that I didn't notice when ordering in person, which is a bit aggravating. No clue why it is any harder to take a credit card number online than it is to take in person? I really wish they had better sides. What we have been doing recently is getting mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese from the grocery store (refrigerated sides from a popular chain that has a country theme but not a country store). These sides combined with Sunny's chicken has been a good combo for us. Just is such a hassle. Was generous and rounded up because this is not a chain restaurant. Usually the food is pretty consistent but there have been a rare occasion where the chicken just wasn't as good as usual. Will continue to get chicken to go from here, and love supporting local business. read more

I really liked their tenderloin & fish sandwiches! My wife thought their chicken was okay. I'll be back. If I could make a suggestion, if a costumer asks if they can try a small sample of a gizzard & liver, throw a small one of each in the fryer with the food that customer ordered. I haven't had either in decades & didn't really want to pay for a full order of something I might still not like. I give it 4 1/2 stars , the chicken was spot on some of the best I have had. It's a bit on the pricey side but it's that good. Don't plan on a sit down meal because it's very limited on seating . Get it and go you won't be disappointed! read more

After a week of frigid temps, some good ole fried chicken was sounding delish!! Used my fried, Yelp, to search my local area and Sunny's was the first to pop up. Reviews were good so I placed a carry out order and Hubby went to pickup. We will definitely visit this place again!! Chicken had a flavorful crunchy breading and the chicken was juicy inside!! Red beans and rice was good as well but needed some heat. Mac n cheese was pretty good and cheesy. Get a side of Sunny's sauce too or three ;) it's yummy with some heat to it! read more

This is a pretty good place if you are looking for some fried chicken to go. Not much atmosphere in the limited dining space they have, but they have an easy to read menu of chicken items on display that helps you get individual amounts or larger family/party sizes. The chicken breading here is more salty and less peppery than that national brand. Not too salty, but it is definitely the strongest taste in the coating. The chicken was nice a crispy on the outside, but just a bit over cooked on the white meat. The biscuit was a little on the dry side too, but that may be due to the early afternoon timing of my visit. Oh my goodness! This is the best place for fried chicken. My husband and I both ordered 6 tender meals. We shared one and had the other the next day. The chicken is so tender and juicy and the breading is light and crispy. Portions are way awesome, service was fabulous and friendly, and they check back in with you via text to make sure it was to your liking. An actual person is texting with you and responding. It is difficult to fry the perfect chicken breast. The outside has to be crispy and well-seasoned. The meat has to be juicy and tender. Combined, just right, it's an experience that you only find with someone who has been cooking it the same way for generations. I have to say that today I found the perfect chicken breast at Sunny's. It was our first visit. I got an 8 piece mixed box and the person I was with got chicken tenders. Every piece was exactly how you would expect great chicken to taste. Marvellous! My wife and I visited Sunny's solely based on Yelp ratings. We we actually heading to Popeyes in Greenwood area. I looked at the ratings on Yelp and they were terrible! Poor service, bad attitudes, incorrect orders, and the straw that broke the camels back - one post stated the place was filthy. We don't need filthy in the midst of the virus pandemic. I checked a couple other Popeye locations and ratings were just as poor. Basically small pieces of chicken, poor service, and long wait times. So, I checked KFC locations and more of the same. 2 star ratings were the norm. Sunny's has a yelp rating of 4.5 so we decided to give their carry out a try. Food was hot, delicious, and more than enough. They give you the whole chicken breast, not half, like their competitors. If you are an average eater the two piece mixed is more than enough. Don't order the large mash potatoes, the small one is enough. I also had the Okra side which was excellent. In summary, great food, large portions, friendly staff. They are a bit pricier than their competitors and it took about 40 minutes for them to fill our order (because it's cooked to order and not sitting under a heat lamp for hours on end), but as the old adage goes "you get what you pay for". First thing's first: The chicken was amazing. These ladies know how to fry some darn good bird! The customer experience however was less than savory. I called when we arrived and they hadn't started cooking the order at the time it was supposed to be ready. They were 45 minutes late with our pickup order and when I called a second time to ask about an estimated pickup time, the lady who answered was annoyed that I would ask her when my food would be ready. I could tell they were having a bad day but they were absolutely taking their bad day out on the customer. I want to give as much grace as possible because they were working hard but they never apologized for being late and made it seem like an imposition that I would ask for a time table for when our food was ready for pickup. I would absolutely recommend the chicken, just not the service. read more
