Called at 7:30 on a Sunday evening. They close at 8, but the lady who answered the phone seemed annoyed. They put me on hold for 10 minutes and when I called back they didn't answer. On a different day I went there and placed an order. The service was very slow, the soup was pretty good but the muffaleta sandwich was very dry and not good.My husband ordered the reuben and he was not happy. This is the 2nd time I have been impressed by this place. I was given the wrong sandwich at first which was honestly a simple mistake and they were very busy. I was so happy when not the manager but the sandwich chef himself came out into the restaurant to apologize and make sure he knew exactly what I wanted. He then updated me a minute later that the sandwich was on its way. He then promptly brought me my sandwich and apologized again. Everyone makes mistakes so in the restaurant business it is how you handle it that makes your place exceptional. This young man deserves all the credit. You may want to uptrain for a management position since he seems to be more attentive than your current one. Also the sandwich was one of the best ive ever had. This place is honestly poorly managed . The managers were getting drinks for customers waiting in line rather than running food or cleaning tables to people who had been waiting for a long time . To add to the experience it took over 15 mins to get a simple sandwich . I have seen Panera and hearthstone work faster with more customers . The actually staff running the food and trying to clean up (in particular two young women) were the only ones looking like they were doing anything to make the place run . At end my visit I was finally getting my food and the manager rudely reached over me to pass another customer two jugs of sweet tea rather than waiting or going behind , there was more than enough room . read more

Stopped in for something quick and "healthy". Got the grilled chicken Cesar salad wrap and a bowl of fruit. The wrap was delicious. The chicken was moist and the Cesar salad had great flavor. The bowl of fruit had a nice, balanced mixture of cantaloupe, honey dew, pineapple, strawberries, and blueberries. I was pleasantly surprised that all the fruit was not only fresh, but also sweet. This McAlister's has gone much better lately! While, not perfect, I can see the changes they have implemented! They're trying hard to fix the issues. Tip: don't dine in just call in your order and pick it up through the drive through window but make sure your order is correct before driving off. Smells terrible inside and the floors are dirty. No one wipes down the tables so be ready to do that yourself. I would say that they were just having an off day with lack of staff but after reading other reviews I'm sure this is the norm for this location. No excuse, the manager should at least treat his team and the customers better and maybe this location will be better. read more

McAlister's Deli is an outstanding choice to have a sandwich and soup for lunch. Customize a baked potato as well. This restaurant has a large amount of menu choices and after being there more times than I can count, I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal there. This particular location gets very crowded at times, so it's best to go when you can have a friend or family member anchor a table to eat at for your group. Haven't visited the drive-thru yet, so I plead the fifth on that. It does get noisy inside at peak times, but if you go at an offtime of the day, you can avoid the rush of customers. Plan ahead and enjoy your time there. read more

I have to preface my 2 star review by saying I LOVE the food at McCalister's and the 2 stars are based on the terribly slow service at this particular location. I have not visited any other McCallister's locations. I have been coming to lunch here frequently for the past year. I often do the "Choose 2" and order the Savannah Chopped Salad along with a various sandwich. Sometimes I order the chicken dumpling soup and I also love their baked potatoes. Their baked goods and sweet tea are also quite good. The lady at the front that always seems to take my order is very kind and the people that bring me the food to the table are also very nice and considerate. However, the lines are always long and I don't mind waiting in line because I like the food. What I don't like is waiting for 30+ minutes for my food to arrive and to see employees standing around while there are so many people waiting for their food to arrive. Today, as on several other occasions, I had lunch at this location with my co-worker. My co-worker ordered his food before me (after waiting 20 minutes in line) and then we both sat down to wait. We waited and waited and finally my food came and I started eating--and 20 minutes later was finished eating while my co-worker was still waiting for his food to arrive. We asked someone to check on it and were told it was being prepared. After 40 minutes, my co-worker went up front and asked for a refund since we had to get back to work. They didn't offer any sort of apology or anything, just gave him his money and that was it. Great food but they need to work on efficiency and customer service at this location. read more

This was the first time my family of 4 had been there. Food wasn't very good my soup was cold and the bread on my sandwich was super soggy. My Caesar salad had so much dressing that it looked like soup and my lettuce was completely soaked. I waited 10 minutes just to get s replacement and by this time everyone at my table was finished eating. I asked for kids meals for my children and was told they didn't offer them even though they were clearly on the menu. The lady just kept saying they don't have kids menus. When we sat down we noticed people next to us had kids meals. So not sure why we weren't able to for my 4 and 6 year old. Food was expensive and just wasn't that great. read more

Food is ok but service is terrible. They messed up most of the orders. Employees don't get all no with each other. Managers doing everything but managing. The place was a big mess and dirty. Employees just standing around doing nothing, and arguing with the manager. They need some PROFESSIONAL help to get this place on track. I needed to have a post-funeral meal catered at the VFW in Schertz for about 100 people. I went to the store and discussed the job to the manager. He was experienced, knowledgeable and made the decision process easy and straightforward. And he did everything he said he would do. I had many compliments on the presentation and flavor of everything they delivered. The only problem was, the brownie tray was the first tray to empty. I should have ordered more brownies. Due to heavy rains, the entire dining party was an hour late getting to the hall, but McAlisters staff had been there and delivered the goods with no unpleasant surprises. I don't live in the San Antonio area, but if I ever need catering I would use them again with confidence. read more

First time here, food was good. However staff brought out the wrong food. They did fix the mistake. Group with us said the last time they totally lost their meal.
