At first I believed they just packed it tightly, but later discovered they threw out the rest (I only had a single piece of tofu in the container, even though there were many in my leftovers). Had to get a curry (red) with tofu and the sauce was so yummy, you need to drizzle it over the rice. We also got vegetable spring rolls and hands down the Best spring rolls I've ever had. The appetizers were good, although the appetizers left a little something to be desired. We had the edamame (needed salt) and the crab Rangoon rolls were tiny. Had an amazing experience for my Birthday dinner. I have been wanting to dine in to this beautiful modern style restaurant. We showed up and was seated pretty quickly even with two larger party's being there. We started off with the Moo Ping pork skewers with their delicious Nam Jim Jaew sauce. Which came out amazing so much flavor we held on to the sauce for later items to try it with. I tried something new and got the Kao Soy with beef which was so tender and definitely worth it. My partner had got the Paht Kaprow with ground beef and added a fried egg on the side. They enjoyed it as they are newer to trying different Thai dishes. For dessert we got the Fried Banana with the honey sesame dipping sauce Togo. Supper good with a nice fried batter on them and not too sweet of a dessert. Dad had Lemonade, and Hubby and I both had Iced Tea. They don't have their liquor license and Live Oak doesn't allow BYOB. We started with the Thai Rice Soup. This Tai restaurant is a hidden gem in Universal City. The food and service is amazing. We walked in at 8 pm and the restaurant and bathroom were sparkling clean. When we walked in we were immediately greeted and seated. I have not experienced this kind of welcoming when you walk into a restaurant that is near closing time. The owner came to talk with us and explained the great care she takes to use the highest quality food, including shrimp from Ecuador and RedBird Farms chicken. There was a steady stream of to go orders while we dined on a Friday night. Conveniently located at 1604 and Pat Booker Road, unless you are stuck in 35/1604 traffic at rush hour. They promise one day construction will be done. They totally gutted the old Thai restaurant and everything is new and clean. No beer and wine quite yet. It's a bummer Live Oak is living in the Prohibition era and does not allow BYOB. We started with spring rolls and they were hot and delicious with a sweet, sour, and spicy dipping sauce. We just wish they offered the Thai version of spring rolls like Lemongrass Thai. The wife had wonton soup and Laab with ground pork. I have never seen Wonton soup so loaded with ingredients like baby bok choy. You could taste the freshness in the broth. My wife loves the Laab with ground pork. Some Thai restaurants used the 1-10 spicy scale, but here it is 1-5, so plan accordingly. I had the Goong Ob Woonsen (sp?) for my entree. The glass noodles were flavorful and much better than I have enjoyed elsewhere. They also serve it in a heated clay pot. So enjoyable to enjoy hot food hot. This restaurant has been recently renovated and it does look gorgeous inside. It is fresh and well lit and very nice in a strip mall Village Oaks Shopping Center. If you are coming down Pat Booker from Randolph it can be a challenge to make the turn. For safety, would recommend to go to Village Oak Center Drive and turn, don't try to make the turn on the 1604 access road, just too dangerous. The pork was cooked perfectly. The veggies were all fresh nice combo of green and red peppers, onions, button and woodear mushrooms. It was our second time dining here last night and it remains our favorite Thai restaurant. We love that it's nearby for us too! The restaurant is clean, spacious and modern. The menu is large and extensive, service is great and parking is plentiful. I highly recommend the garlic pork ribs, and the usuals like basil fried rice, pad Thai and curries. We got the tiger cry steak last night for the first time and it was delicious especially with the tiger cry sauce. For dessert, I strongly recommend their coconut ice cream! They make it in house and you can definitely tell it's homemade. It's so yummy! FYI- their spice level is 1-5. We ordered a 3 for their dishes, and even a 3 was spicy for us! It's been quite a challenge. So here's my take on the Pad Thai (lunch order). I appreciate that the peanuts were served separately. I'm not a fan of having nuts in my food, but I appreciate the thought for those who might have nut allergies. The lunch portion is a bit pricey considering that it does not come with a soup or an egg roll (most asian spots have this as part of their lunch specials). Without squeezing the lime that was added as part of the dish, the dish was a bit dry and tasteless. After adding the lime (I only added a small dash of lime, it had a little more flavor. I'm hesitant to come back to try something different. Especially with the price of the food. I can just drive down a bit further into Universal City and get a better tasting Pad Thai for a better price and a nice portion that includes an egg roll and soup. The service was great.
