We have been here a few times and have not been disappointed. The portions are huge the restaurant is clean and the staff have been very nice. I had the savannah chopped salad. The McAlister Club is my absolute favorite and I frequently patronize the deli whenever I come across one! Valpo, Schererville, etc all have exceeded my expectations in regards to quality and quantity of food, customer service, and cleanliness! This place was dirty and very unprofessional!!!!! When I made mention of the very poor quality of my food I was blown off and my concern wasn't properly addressed!! Hardly No meat on all layers! The area that supposed to have bacon hadNo bacon! Today, after sitting in the drive thru line for 20 minutes to pick up my preordered food, I went inside and asked what was going on and had four employees immediately and simultaneously yell at me. I wasn't rude in any way to them. I just wanted to know when we would be getting our food, and they didn't even try to be polite. They acted like how dare I even ask. The lady in the car two cars ahead of me (there were 5 in line) said they hadn't said a word to her for 15 minutes while she was waiting. Yesterday, they had my food ready on time but left out 4 things in my simple order of 6 things. This used to be a good restaurant, but I have watched the quality of the service go downhill for years, and now it has become atrocious. I decided to go with the pick 2 where you can get a half sandwich and soup. One of the specials was a crab corn soup. It was very tasty but I wish the crab chunks were bigger. Me and my girlfriend usually like this location but the last couple of times we've picked it up it hasn't been too good. We usually like to get the McAlister's club and the only thing we customize is the bread and cheese. The past couple of times we got it, they didn't customize it at all. Ate here today with my family. Took 20 mins to get our Pick 2 food. Both spuds were cold (wouldn't melt butter at ALL). We didn't complain just ate them anyway. Another lady dining took her potato to the counter saying it was cold. The girl at the counter then stuck her hand in the potato & told the customer it was in fact warm. The manager came up to investigate because the lady obviously wanted a refund after this & agreed with her co worker that the spud was warm. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? In 30 years of eating out in my life I have never witnessed something so disgusting. My husband even told the manager that in fact our spuds were cold as well & the customer was correct. This place is such a waste. Went with a friend to order , I ordered before her a chicken wrap; and nachos , my friend ordered after me a BLT sandwich and got her order 25 minutes before mine. The guy bagging the food was as slow as a snail. Plenty of people came in after me and all had their orders way before me. The personalities of the employees were equal to a wall. Stopped here for lunch as I was on a road trip and was very pleasantly surprised! The staff was incredibly friendly, the restaurant was clean, and my food came out quickly. I got the Veggie Spud and it was HUGE; I don't know if I've ever seen a potato that big. It was loaded with lots of cheese, broccoli, onions, peppers, and spinach. All were great except the cheese seemed a little fake and like nacho cheese. While the toppings were good, I felt that the potato itself was not quite cooked enough. Overall though, the food wasn't amazing but the building was clean and the staff were very friendly so I would recommend this as a quick stop and more unique fast-food option. This location use to be ok a few years back, but it isn't anymore. 1. What's with the sticky floors? Last 2 times I've been in there they've been sticky, your shoes actually stick. Not something on my shoes, everyone I was with noticed this. 2. Incompetent help. It took 4 attempts to ring me up. I odered a half n half which is $9.99 or $9.95, and iced tea. First she told me $21. something! Ah, no. Next she said it was $17. something. Again, no! Then she couldn't figure out how to void things out and ring it up correctly. Finally someone else came along and rang it up correctly. 3. Now to the food, I odered my favorite there, the savannah chopped salad, it didn't seem as fresh as it could be and it was quite a skimpy portion. With that I also had a "spud". That was TERRIBLE. Very dry, not hot and the skin was terribly dry and hard. I most definitely won't be back. The Schererville McAlisters so far is waaaay better. Don't waste your time going to this one. read more

I stopped here once and it was great. It had pretty good food and a nice atmosphere. However, I just stopped here and it is terrible. They screwed up our order mightily. I asked for a plain roast beef sandwich and they gave me one with cheese and onions. They gave my wife a full sandwich instead of a half and forgot her cup of soup. They even gave me a chicken club instead of a chicken wrap. The cashier didn't seem very attentive to what I ordered either. I was a big fan of this place until I went this time and I can say for certain that I won't be back. Go to the Jimmy johns on the other side of the interstate. I used to could say McAllister had become my choice over Panera bread taste wise as well as cost. I am really fond of the chili but not sure what it taste like now. Yesterday I got a chicken sandwich on Ciabatta bread with what was supposed to be chicken tortilla soup first of all there weren't any tortilla strips and the soup was horrible.... mostly cream based. Absolutely cheated on the meat and the pickle was horrible/soggy. How do you mess up on a pickle? Just keep your trimmings and veggies fresh! left out of there paying almost $14...unacceptable. I have gone here multiple times and the quality has gone down. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant yesterday 4/10/22. I have had it before and it was good. This is what the sandwich looked like that I received yesterday. Barely any chicken salad on it and they couldn't even be bothered to spread it out on the croissant.    I went back today and talked to a manager and showed him the pic and he couldn't care less. I said does this look like something you should be serving and he said no maam.  Worse than the mess of a sandwich they gave me was his attitude about it. It is totally unacceptable. Also love McAllisters. We've been to a few and this one, by far, has the laziest employees. Other McAllisters are run much more efficiently. Counted 8-9 employees. 5 in the kitchen, 1 at the register (took him 5 minutes to come to register and start taking the orders of the two customers ahead of us) and 2-3 chit chatting and not doing anything. Not sure if one person was an employee but he was behind counter talking. We had carry out and we were in the restaurant for 30 minutes. I love McAlisters, which is why I'm posting this. I want this place to improve since I live close and love the food. I got in line to order with one customer in front of me. Only one register open, but there were five other employees that I saw standing around the only girl taking orders. She was sweet, but not trained - I asked for a Jalapeño Turkey Crunch sandwich, the new girl had to ask for help because she didn't know it was on the menu. No big deal - new employee trying to do the job without guidance. While this was going on, the only man working (that I could see) was waking around with an iPad taking video of his coworkers. This didn't seem work related. He was walking around the dining area, behind the counter and in the kitchen. Later, when I ordered another meal to go (I spent about $60 tonight) that same man was behind the counter talking to the new girl. He said to her, "you've got to squeeze your glutes once in a while because it's good for your core, otherwise you'll have back pain." I have an MBA, managed a chain of businesses, and restaurants - him taking to a new employee of the opposite sex about her glutes seems like sexual harassment. I think I counted seven employees here tonight, and both times I wanted to order food I had to wait more than five minutes to be greeted. Your manager is not effective. Good luck. read more

Customer service is terrible. I went around 1:45 to avoid the lunch hour rush. Only one person in line ahead of me, but I stood there for 20 minutes before I got to place my order. There were lots of employees all over the place, but it seems like a big disorganized mess. The service and food quality have definitely gone downhill big time in the last few years. We ordered NO tea or lemonade we said that's fine because they were making some. We got our food NO tea reminded the girl about it. She said OK she would get it. My side was fresh fruit, it was all honeydew no I had to sent that back got chips. Still NO tea but people were getting it. Had to go back up there they said they would bring it out and they did, NO ice it had melted because the tea was hot had to ask for more ice. Terrible service. They look busy but they are in reality so slow and confused. I went to pick up my order and it looked like chaos in there. When they handed me my order I searched the bag for confirmation of my order was all there. They had forgotten a salad and a sandwich. I also needed to pick up 3 Tea drinks that had been damaged the previous time. I was told back when I reported it that all I needed to do is tell someone about the mishap and I would receive a replacement for the teas. The so called manager (she said she was one of them), said that I needed a name or receipt. I didn't have either at that exact moment so I wasn't able to get those drinks. Had lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. Service was excellent. Both from the counter and the person delivering the food. Ordered the spicy southwest chicken sandwich and a cup of tortilla soup. The soup was a little thick for my liking, and didn't taste like it was made that day. But it had a decent flavor. The SW chicken was good. Not wow or great, but maybe an upscale Jimmy Johns.
