This is one excellent sandwich shop! Not only is the food delicious, the service is superb and the prices are fair. The staff here actually enjoy what they do and it shows in their food. So far, we've tried the Steelworker, the Scotty Melt and the corned beef. Yum! The restaurant is clean and there's a few tables to dine in. Located directly across from Jewel-Osco you might miss it. Stopped by here during a road trip and was so pleasantly surprised. I only paid around 10 bucks for a double hamburger and genuinely had to stop myself from going in and getting another one. The beef tasted fresh and the lettuce and tomato tasted the same. Service was fast and friendly. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a quick bite. read more

4-5-26 Andy, the manager at the Crown Point location, has the best customer service manners that I've seen in a long time. I had an issue where my card had been declined. He calmly let me know about the problem. My friend and I were able to get the amount of cash together to cover my bill. During that time he wasn't rude or snarky. Not even impatient. The food is excellent. It's to eat in or carry out. It's always clean. The staff is always always courteous and nice. This was one of my favorite restaurants. I purchased a Lincoln lovers today and it has changed it half to size you no longer get two hamburger patties and the roast beef you get one patty on one side and One piece of roast beef on the other side very very disappointed. Their cheesecake, coconut cream pie & sweet potato were all good also but the cheesecake was the best out of all 3. The lady who took my order was very friendly. I love love love love love this place! We used to go here all the time back in the 80s when I attended Lew Wallace high school from 1981 to 1984. It was located then on Broadway. We probably ate there at least once a week for lunch. The US steel sandwich is the best sandwich in the world. I always get it with pepper jack cheese. I brought my husband back to Gary Indiana to let him see where I was born and raised. We currently live in Arizona. I took him to Lincoln carryout to get the US steel and now I can't shut him up. He talks about that US steel sandwich at least once a month. Whenever I go back home, I always make it a point to get my US Steele sandwich. Everything there is fantastic. Have been looking for NY style Pastrami sandwich around Indy for more than a year and fortunately found this place while coming from Chicago to Indy, recently. Was going there only to get Pastrami sandwich but ended up getting more after looking at the menu. Pastrami sandwich was okayish, didn't fulfill the expectations I had on them, but the other items I got were top notch. Steelworker sandwich seems to be the local favorite here, which was simply awesome. Coming to the sides, Fried pickles and mushrooms were phenomenal too. Everything didn't cost me an arm and leg, and it did fit my budget. This is a small burger joint with few seating options and few parking spots. I can't believe this is the first time I tried it since we've been enjoying Lincoln's since the 1980s at both the Calumet City and Highland locations and Crown Point since we moved here in the early 2000s. Your basic hot dog place with a wide variety of meals...hot dogs are basic...nothing special..their gyros are decent..fries are typical..was disappointed in the combination sandwich..who puts brown gravy on Italian beef sandwiches??..it wasn't appetizing at all..au jus is classic on an Italian beef or combo sandwich, not brown gravy..didn't taste good at all Now onto their desserts...their sweet potato pies and coconut cream pies are the best!! Honest Abe Lincoln was born in Kentucky. Honestly awesome sandwiches were born in Lake County, Indiana, at a place called Lincoln's Carry Out. First, let me say that these guys are serious about business. They opened at 9 AM on a Sunday morning. Their competitors were still asleep. Second, and really the only thing that matters, is that these sandwiches are some of the best I've had in my LIFE. These cats can bring the quality. How in the world does an Arby's, or a Jimmy John's, or for the love of Pete a Subway make it within a fifty mile radius of this place? There is absolutely no reason to go anywhere else for a sandwich unless for some reason you like to be disappointed. The guy at the register recommended a "warmed" club. It's not on the menu as warmed, as it is usually served cold, but you've got to try it. Fantastic sandwich. The rest of the fam got a Bunny Girl, hamburger, and my littlest one went with the grilled cheese. They were all happy but I was too much into my warmed club to talk to any of them about what they had. It just kinda took over my life at the moment. When people talk about buying local, this should be the exemplar. Great food, great owner (who came out and talked to us while we were there), and a great local business. read more
